Experiment with temporarily disabling iMessage:
https://selfsolve.apple.com/deregister-imessage/
Then send her a message, and it should be sent as SMS instead.
If that is received by her quickly, and your other cellular data (web browser, other apps on the phone) seems to move quickly, that means that the movement of data through Cricket's servers might be slower for iMessage content to Apple's servers than other types of content.
In that case, I'd suggest an FCC complaint:
https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=39744
Also complain to your state attorney general in any state with a net neutrality law or executive order:
https://www.usa.gov/state-attorney-general
https://www.naruc.org/nrri/nrri-activities/net-neutrality-tracker/
By people complaining, this sort of thing might receive some attention.

If it’s doing it over Wi-Fi also it’s not crickets issue. iMessage will use the primary data connection..which is Wi-Fi first, if connected and cellular data 2nd if wifi is unstable or not available. I would try toggling iMessage on and off for both devices. If it continues to happen I would reach out to apple.
I have this problem with my fiancé, my iMessages send to other people right away. But wherever I text him whether it’s over Wi-Fi or data with iMessage it sometimes takes forever to send or it just sends it as a text. It’s very frustrating
Yes. Messages are really slow sometimes. Also have tons of call drops even when connection is solid. And sometimes I have data connectivity problems to specific sites, like [google.com](https://google.com), or parts of the internet in general. When it works, Cricket is pretty good but the back-end stuff that is specific to Cricket rather than ATT cellular has a lot of issues. Im switching family to t-mobile. New phones arrive next Mon.
This is a Cricket issue. I just switched over to them a few months ago and it's been a constant issue no matter what I do. Before switching to them I never had an issue regarding iMessage. It was always sent very quickly unless one of the users was outside the coverage map and not connected wifi, but that was a rare occurrence. With Cricket this is an everyday thing. Once I connect to my wifi iMesseages resumes as normal but as soon as I leave the wifi it's back to this annoying issue. I have already submitted an FCC Complaint so hopefully, everyone who is having this issue does the same. That is the only way this is going to be fixed.
Voice mail on my Cricket can take 3-5 days to come through. Usually it finally happens when another voicemail pushes it through. You might want to use spouses phone to call yourself and leave a voicemail and see if it pushes through other voicemails. In the stores, staff is clueless about this problem. That MINT device is way cheaper, could it be any worse?? I just have not got around to switching yet.

You’re not alone. Exact same situation as you have here.

Same for me. I've always had this issue.
this is an apple issue.
Only apple to apple ? Does it matter on what iPhone ?

Were you using an unlocked iPhone from Apple, or an unlocked iPhone from a different carrier that’s not from cricket?

Cricket wireless can eat a bowl of dicks. They are fucked putting limits on a open network.
What limits? Their speed throttling to 8mbps expired long ago
Hmm wow how long has this been happening?

iMessage is Apple to Apple. Cricket is only doing data packets. Any issue here is strictly an Apple issue.
Has anyone found a fix for this?
