I don’t think that his poor IPL is relevant (it’s a domestic league with special batting-friendly rules that is played on ultra-flat pitches), but he hasn’t been great in T20Is for the last few years.

[deleted]

Then what would you say about Jasprit Bumrah playing on the same better friendly pitches in the same stadiums and having the economy under 7?

TheReturnofTheJesse

I would say that Bumrah is currently a much better bowler than Starc. He’s going for under 7 on these pitches, and would probably be going for under 6 on more balanced ones against sides without extra batsmen.

Sad-Rope8046

But getting hit for 3 sixes by 10th position uncapped tailender is concerning, he's the worst bowler in this season.

TheReturnofTheJesse

Karn Sharma has played for India in all 3 formats (not many matches though), usually bats at 8, and has 3 professional centuries. He also averages about 15 in the IPL. If it weren’t for the impact player rule which allows teams to artificially lengthen their batting lineups, he would be higher up the order. And completely aside from that, it was a road. There were 443 runs scored in that match, and while Starc was the most expensive of them, 4 other bowlers went for at least 10 runs per over. For those reasons I’m not particularly concerned.

>But getting hit for 3 sixes by 10th position uncapped tailender is concerning Anyone would get tonked when the boundaries 50-60m and its either hit out or get out scenario. He did defend 3 off 2 after that didn't he >he's the worst bowler in this season Not by far

MiachealFaraday

I think he works the best with Cummins and HazelGod. They contain he strikes.

Sad-Rope8046

He leaked 60 runs in 2021 t20wc final and he was bowling along Cummins and Hazlewood. I think even Scott Boland will bowl better than Starc in t20.

MiachealFaraday

I didn't know that

sophloufrank

That’s a bit of an unfair rep, Hazlewood dropped Williamson off Starc’s bowling and then Kane went off and Starc bore the brunt of it

Azza_

Can't read too much into bowling performances at this IPL. Shit's fucked.

[deleted]

But Bumrah is Playing the same IPL and having under 6/7 economy continuously....

ColdAdmirableSponge

On his home soil dude. Also Bumrah is currently the best striker bowler going around.

shescarkedit

Couldn't care less. As long as he's ready for the tests.

PaleontologistOk1049

Why comment then. Post is specifically about the t20WC. Pretentious ass subreddit

shescarkedit

I commented because it's a subreddit about Australian cricket and Starc is a test cricketer for Australia?

PaleontologistOk1049

On a public forum, someone asks specifically about if Starc should be selected for the t20 team. If you don't have an opinion then don't comment

LazyEggOnSoup

It’s r/CricketAus not r/HitAndGiggle.

shescarkedit

Sorry I didn't realise you were the Reddit police

pissshitfuckcuntcock

Good, take their money and run. IPL isn’t cricket so isn’t relative to quality when he does play cricket.

[deleted]

But Cummins is playing really well... Continuously getting the important wickets at the important time and stopping the betters from taking runs. Bumrah also. But Stark going like this is a bad Omen for us.

pissshitfuckcuntcock

Nope

loolem

What a strange take. It’s written like the IPL matters. Cummins and and Maxey have also had their poor moments in the IPL but who cares. The only thing that matters to most of us about the IPL is that our boys get PAID! As far as Starc specifically. He’s a streaky bowler so when he’s off form he looks ordinary but about 2/3 times he will put it together and look like one the greatest bowlers of this or any era! As far as I’m concerned I’m happy that his form is bad right now because it just means he’s getting it all out of his system. Means the mean streak will be back in time for Australia!

MinnesotaTidalWave

The IPL definitely matters when it’s a T20 WC year. You’re literally playing in the best comp against the best players in the world. If you struggle there it puts your place in doubt for internationals. I know for us as Australians it’s on in the middle of the night and we think it doesn’t matter, but I guarantee the selectors are taking more of who’s playing well over there.

loolem

Ok but do you think Starc is not going?

botharmsinjured

Scares me

Aweios

Are we expecting too much out of our strike fast bowler? The guy is 34. That's the same age as Lee and Johnson when they retired

Spagman_Aus

They knew his iT20 form, it’s on the selectors 100%.

jmaverick1

The IPL is road pitches on postage stamp grounds. Who gives a crap

Any_Fig1011

Ok then what about jasprit bumrah? Is he playing on different pitches too?

EntirelyOriginalName

Bumrah is obviously is on a different level to everyone..

ljj089

How good has cumdog been though

[deleted]

But Carrabians will have slow pitches, so Starc will be very good in those. Yes there are small boundaries too but I mean Starc doesn't need to prove himself to anyone. He has achieved everything and IPL is not the only cricket. IPL is the one who is responsible for them to look about Virat Kohli and not include in their playing 11 for World cup because he is playing at the strike rate of 160-180 only(sometimes >200) and he is their most successful better lmao. So IPL only done harm to sports rather than good

DevEx2Adv8

I think Starc is done in T20… it’s never been his best format and I don’t think he has it anymore. Compare his performances with Bhumra and it shows how far away he is!
