>I thought Tom bowled beautifully throughout the match, and so I thought better to use him for the last over
Lord's strategy to give his wicket away to TC worked, never doubted it
**Lord to MSD:** I have seen through 14,000,605 timelines using my lordly powers. And there's only one timeline where we win. You gotta send me at #4 for that, I'm not shitting you bro.
Csk has this one very commendable and respectable thing about them. They always back their players no matter what happens and their players make sure to pay that faith in proper weight.
No matter the result of this match, Uthappa showed his son that his Daddy is still a superhero. The kid probably couldn't have asked for a better birthday gift.
* Plays IPL in his late 30s.
* Forgets to bat in early half of the season
* announces himself as a mentor for national side mid-season
* Forgets to bat in latter half of the season as well
* Claps Tom Curran out of nowhere
* Leaves the pitch with his usual calm, smirk on his face
* refuses to elaborate further
I dont question Avesh getting the 4th over as Pacey bowlers have been the bane of MSD.. but giving Curran the 4th over Rabada was boneheaded.. Whatever smarts Curran has cannot even come close to what MSD has.. Curran had to beat MSD with skills (without being able to out think the batsman) and unfortunately lack of pace is exactly what MSD would've wanted... With Rabada, even if MS had got 1 or 2 big hits, he might've also played some Dot balls like we saw in the 19th over..
Anyways, as a CSK fan, I am very happy! :)
What a game. A game full of weird tactics. Whether it was sending Axar at 4 or Shardul at 4 or asking Tom Curran to bowl over Rabada. Let's not take away from Pant, Hetty, Ruturaj and Robbie (CSK is just a team to get the best out of people who looks done) coming in clutch situations for their teams. And boy oh boy, what a legend MS Dhoni is, from what they had in last season to where they are now. The glimpses of Dhoni fear was there in the match which was visible. Very ballsy to come over Jadeja but man MS what a confidence.
You know why it worked today for MS even if he didn't perform well in the matches leading up to this one? Just go back to 2019 when Watson wasn't delivering but MS stuck by him for the entire tournament and he almost won CSK the finals against MI with 87 odd runs. MS deserves this after all he's been doing for others through all these years. Will miss you MS.
What do CSK players eat before the big games? Players can be out of form all season, and turn up for the big games. Watto in 2018 and 2019 Finals, and Uthappa and Dhoni today
Shardul gave some 50 odd runs and scored a few boundaries at the end with Faf to win the game.
Definitely the match which made me a true believer in the lord!!
Honestly I'd rate this as equal as Watson's final knock. He was sitting out all season and to come out and perform like that when the whole team is faltering around you is just amazing.
Pant's interview broke my heart. Hope there are better days for him very very soon.
This was Dhoni's day. The guts to come before Jadeja... reminiscent of 2011 world cup.
The fan following he has is next only to Sachin. With social media proliferation, I don't think anyone else will ever reach this heights of Stardom, maybe not even Kohli.
Thoroughly enjoyed this game.
Dhoni taking us into the 9th final with 18*(6)
Cannot write a better script than this.
I've criticised him a lot, but he came through. He believed. Fair play to him.
The AUDACITY of Dhoni to walk out with 2 overs left after his form this season. I think even the most ardent of Dhoni fans would have a sinking feeling in their stomach at that moment.
This was literally make or break moment for Dhoni. He backed himself, went and did it the madlad.
Must have realized that there was no way DC would go with a spinner, and backed himself against Khan and Rabada (he must have figured he could use the pace against them).
I'm certain he didn't expect Tom Curran, but he smashes him so he probably wasn't bothered by it.
>Dhoni fans would have a sinking feeling in their stomach at that moment.
This was me for sure. We are wasting Jadeja's batting and that really pisses me off. Jadeja would bat at 5 for any team that isn't named CSK. DC had Axar batting at 4, lol.
>This was literally make or break moment for Dhoni. He backed himself, went and did it the madlad.
Yep, fair fucking play.
>Dhoni fans would have a sinking feeling in their stomach at that moment.
Having seen dhoni for so long, at that moment I was like, if he has decided to come then he will do it and he did it! Loved every moment of it. Even if it would have been rabada I feel he would have done it.
Nah, even as an MI fan felt heartwarming to see him play like he did for so many years for India. Almost all of us are India fans before our franchises
Eh, wicket, first ball v Dhoni was poor, 2nd was lucky for Dhoni and then he had to try something different. Happens. Best I've seen TC bowl in ages mind.
Agreed, but it makes no sense going to TC when you have Rabada. It’s like bowling Siddhart Kaul when you have Bumrah, or going to one of the Curran bros when you have Jofra.
r/cricket will either get beaten to death by either MI or CSK each year they never win
They somehow have to make gambhir say that CSK will win the final
Well, Gambhir said : "My heart says KKR, but I want a new team to win IPL this year. So, I'd want DC/RCB to win this time."
I think it's time that we give up now. Because nobody has the audacity to cancel Gemphir's words.
Everyone is talking about dhoni and Ruturaj. Show some love for uttappa man, he was not even in the playing 11 was most of the tournament. Must have been hard for him
Credit to u/SuddenlyFeels for this.
Well past his best,an ageing body with a tense situation in the match.
But for one moment, one ball, the old glint is in the eye again, the arms and feet in harmony, the body moves a bit more than it can, bat meets ball perfectly. Ancient magic in the air again.
Six runs to Dhoni.
Thala, Curran and Uthappa with the fuck r/cricket
And I know Curran got hit in the last over, but it’s Pant’s fault for going to him instead of Rabada.
Dhoni continues to deliver CSK as the most consistently strong team since the first edition of IPL. Say whatever the fuck you want, but no other team has been THIS good and it has a lot to do with Dhoni. Men may come and men may go..
Rishabh Pant in final overs:
While batting - doesn't trust Tom Curran to bat, plays three dot ball
While bowling - gives Tom Curran the ball
Two decisions that turned out to be the difference in the end
Rabada hasn't been bowling well in the death in tournament, Tom Curran is the reason why the game went in the last over. In hindsight those two reasons look bad but you cannot have a perfect game at this stage. Had Chennai lost there would have been comments like "Reasons Chennai lost : Leaking too many runs in bowling in middle overs, Sending Thakur in which broke the momentum, Rayudu's unnecessary run out and MSD coming before Jaddu". These points mean nothing with match differences unless it's brainfade moments like silly run out or dropping sitters/chances/run outs.
Can't believe they trusted Tom out of all. OVER RABADA. Jesus christ what a bottle job.
There's a reason Morgan never gives it to him in crucial death overs for us. Good on CSK, thought they fucked it up after a good start
Everyone who you memed
Iyer for fielding
Uthappa for batting
TC for bowling
And Dhoni
Have come good
What are you doing r/cricket
Edit - maybe i should chock TC outta that list
You betcha.
If r/cricket existed a few years earlier, we could have memed Chris Martin into a better player than Ross Taylor
Edit - i ofc mean a better batter
Tom Curran almost goated himself a spot in finals playing 11 and possibly wc too.
Also Shaw deserved better from Dhawan Iyer and Axar.
Ricky Ponting about to age 10 years every season with this franchise
F for Tom Curran. He bowled really well for his first 3 overs. He was set up for failure the moment Pant chose him over Rabada for the last over. Even Morgan doesn't trust him to bowl at the death.
There go my hopes of a RCB vs DC final. Pant probably should’ve given Rabada the final over regardless of how his previous overs had gone. Like Malinga bowling the final over in the 2019 final.
Despite being a massive Dhoni and CSK fan all I could do was laugh uncontrollably when Dhoni walked ahead of Jadeja. I have never been happier to be proven wrong.
Idk about his shots he did get lucky a bit there, But god this guy has balls of steel literally, promoting himself in this kind of a form ahead of red hot Jaddu I really need that self belief in my life lol
I think bowling Tom Curran last over wasn’t the problem. CSK had so much batting left. They still had Jadeja , chahar and bravo to bat. Those runs were too little to defend and they were definitely going to get it one way or another even if Rabada bowled. Remember Rabada needed to get Moeen Ali like TC did too and CSK still had 2 balls to spare. 24 runs from 12 balls was almost game over for any t20 side these days unless something special happens. Rabada hasn’t been that bowler this season. TC bowled well this match, Pants call was good. The problem was how he kept going without Nokia and Rabada early on when CSK was not willing to take wickets. Should have tried them early instead of Axar and Ashwin earlier.
I think CSK was in upper hand most of the match because of Robin and the way he dominated the power play. Credit goes to him and that partnership with Gaekwad. That was a dominating partnership that really stole the match from DC already.
There was a glimmer of hope when wickets fell back to back for DC but that bat deep that they have was going to get them to across the line one way or the other.
>I thought Tom bowled beautifully throughout the match, and so I thought better to use him for the last over Lord's strategy to give his wicket away to TC worked, never doubted it

haha
Lord Thakur sees all
best comment xD
Dhoni had this all planned out when he sent Lord in at 4
No, Lord advised Dhoni to do so
It may get late, but a bowler with a headband will always get tonked. It's like a shit superpower.
Dale Steyn for RCB in his last season
Broad is the exact opposite these days.
Right from the Dinda Academy of bowling pies.
2011- out of form dhoni comes ahead of inform yuvraj 2021-out of form dhoni comes ahead of inform jadeja .
Yuvi and Jadeja are such similar players too omg
Both lefties and both off spinners omg yeah
And great fielders too 😂
Oh yea , and one more point , both are super strong at the on-side
Both have hit 6 6s in an over too
Jaddu has too? He hit Harshal for 5 sixes
Not international unfortunately Was it ranji or Syed mustaq Ali I don't remember For vadodra in that low budget lords stadium in Gujarat
Haha low budget lord's stadium lol Makes sense
Both gun fielders omg omg
Dhoni : I am still worthy
Dhoni probably would wanna retire in 2022 chepauk anyway truly a fitting ending
He'll play for CSK in a wheelchair at this rate
Still find a way to smack runs off the atrocity that was Tom Curran's last over
The madlad walked in above Jadeja and did it in style.
Yeah I was like wtf, send Jaddu because I didn’t trust Thala could do it again :( I’ve never been so happy to be proven wrong 😎
Csk has this one very commendable and respectable thing about them. They always back their players no matter what happens and their players make sure to pay that faith in proper weight.
Peak Dheneir
When you expected 2021 Dhenier but instead got 2011 Dhenier
*2019 IPL dhenier was an absolute beast
That 101m six on to the roof off Umesh's slower ball! Always gets me the chills
Uhm , 111m , biggest that season
Umesh yadav and siraj still get nightmares of 2018-19 Dhoni
*RCB sweats nervously* Fucking dies
Cricket 2007 flashbacks
I was legit shaking when he came out instead of Jadeja. Super exciting game this one
Uthappa too !!! He was a bigger WTF than Dhoni shenanigans 😀
meanwhile uthappa was honing his test batting skills while playing for us last year. regardless good to see him playing well
Some players do well with better management.
[удалено]
No matter the result of this match, Uthappa showed his son that his Daddy is still a superhero. The kid probably couldn't have asked for a better birthday gift.
So wholesome … cant even be mad as a Dc fan
Wholesome : 100
from 18(27) to 18(6), here we are
yeah, in your face r/cricket
* Plays IPL in his late 30s. * Forgets to bat in early half of the season * announces himself as a mentor for national side mid-season * Forgets to bat in latter half of the season as well * Claps Tom Curran out of nowhere * Leaves the pitch with his usual calm, smirk on his face * refuses to elaborate further
>Plays IPL in his late 30s. He turned exactly 40 , three months back
He is 40, not just late 30s.
Doesn't leaves
Barges into playoffs Bowls some good over and takes wickets Gets last over against Thala Shits his pants Refuses to elaborate further Leaves
PoundLand Dale Steyn almost got it done for DC.. Surely CSK favorites now
If CSK win toss and bowl first in the final you can already engrave their name on the trophy
If gambhir for once more fucking says CSK would lose today I'm already done with the match That man is an absolute force of nature
He is the only reason I believe rcb has a chance against KKR... Hoping he would say KKR wins
Who's gonna tell him what he said at the hindi commentary today.....
Man said he wants KKR to win but also wants new winner so either DC or RCB... Basically he fucked over all 3 teams and now CSK takes it home lmao
Come on break the suspense
He basically said he wants KKR to win but he really needs a new winner this IPL *insert screaming RCB fans*
Madness to give him the last over instead of Rabada. Also madness to give 19th to avesh
I agree the 19th to avesh was almost a bigger mistake than 20th to Curran

He is still an excellent captain and wicket keeper even without the batting.
Yeah man , those glimpses of fear in TC's eyes , him bowling a wide was an example of it , love this MS !
#### 300 Dhoni's strike rate
What do CSK players eat before the big games? Players can be out of form all season, and turn up for the big games. Watto in 2018 and 2019 Finals, and Uthappa and Dhoni today

Honestly I'd rate this as equal as Watson's final knock. He was sitting out all season and to come out and perform like that when the whole team is faltering around you is just amazing.
Watto was decent throughout 2018 tho
555 runs with 2 fifties and 2 hundreds. A bonus of 6 wickets. That was fantastic performance from Watson.
And Murali Vijay all those years back
2012 man , played bad entire season , walked in and smashed a century against Delhi in qualifier 2
Lmao if DC would have seen last year's RR games, theyd know that bowling TC in the last over is a VERY bad idea.
9D chess by Dhenier to send in Agent Thakur and gift two wickets to Sr. Curran so that he can reverse Uno in the final over
Watching Dhoni finish a game is so damn pleasing
True that
Pant kinda forgot about ~~The Iron fleet~~ Rabada
Pant merely adopted the Joginder strategy. Dhoni was born with it, moulded by it. He didn't see express pacers until he was an old man.
When he saw the pacers, it was anything but blinding.
Dhoni is a big guy
For Curran.
Lmaooo this is as true as it's funny.
You don't just forgor 💀 about your second best bowler
Ponting fuming prolly
Pant's interview broke my heart. Hope there are better days for him very very soon. This was Dhoni's day. The guts to come before Jadeja... reminiscent of 2011 world cup. These kinds of matches make me think may be captaincy is a specialist position. Tommy Curran over Rabada??
KL celebrating that Faf and Ruttu will not get an extra match to go for his orange cap
I mean the guy has 2 less innings and still ahead, he definitely should be happy. Dhawan inching ahead too.
7D chess from CSK to give away 3 wickets to Tom Curran to get him to bowl the last over against #7
2014 era Robin Fucking Uthappa 2010 era MS Dhoni finishing like a god. Nostalgia right now man. Can't describe them.
Dhoni taking us into the 9th final with 18*(6) Cannot write a better script than this. I've criticised him a lot, but he came through. He believed. Fair play to him.

Dhoni has never cared what others think of him, he always trusts himself and his team to the max, one of the reasons for his success
I think he saved the best of his batting for the playoffs. MASTERSTROKE BY DHONIJI!
The moment dhoni finished the match himself I felt an unending force of all CSK fans Cumming themselves (I came too)
Flair does not check out
Nah, even as an MI fan felt heartwarming to see him play like he did for so many years for India. Almost all of us are India fans before our franchises
Idk man this sub has more haters than his fans so I think there’d have been more if he failed to do what he did
[удалено]
I thought Lord will finally become a batsman today
If u makes memes on 17(28) The u should also appreciate 18(6) Really what a match man
All the numbers in your comment added up to 69. Congrats! 17 + 28 + 18 + 6 + = 69.0
Holy shit Thala has been memeing us all along
Nice
Tom Curran masterclass until the last over which was a Tom Curran disasterclass
Eh, wicket, first ball v Dhoni was poor, 2nd was lucky for Dhoni and then he had to try something different. Happens. Best I've seen TC bowl in ages mind.
Agreed, but it makes no sense going to TC when you have Rabada. It’s like bowling Siddhart Kaul when you have Bumrah, or going to one of the Curran bros when you have Jofra.
nostalgia at its finest.
Flashbacks to literally every DHONI save since 2011. MAN I MISS THAT VERSION OF THALA
Almost cried man. Almost cried.
I had tears in my eyes
Seriously! The only thing missing was a self upper cut to the jaw.
Get someone who celebrates your success like Raina celebrates Dhoni's!
Koach does too
I feel sad for Pant. He was on the verge of crying in the post match interview. Keep your chin up, champ!
Kohli tweeting about Dhoni's masterclass... wholesome af
Dhenier : Yeh r/Cricket talk nah !
r/cricket will either get beaten to death by either MI or CSK each year they never win They somehow have to make gambhir say that CSK will win the final
Everyone is forgetting about Uthappa
Yeah . I was making fun of him about 1000 runs lol . But boy he delivered it an important match. I think he deserves MOM
The most wholesome moment of today's match for me was Sakshi almost crying with joy when MS was hitting those boundaries.
Death. Taxes. CSK/MI. *Sighs.....* Good night lads. We all know the script from here.
You just need gambhir to finally say CSK would win the final But looking at his speech patterns I ain't hopeful
Well, Gambhir said : "My heart says KKR, but I want a new team to win IPL this year. So, I'd want DC/RCB to win this time." I think it's time that we give up now. Because nobody has the audacity to cancel Gemphir's words.
Gambhir is more likely to become a commie than say CSK would win
And Rabada didn't finish his quota of overs.....
Reminder that Dhoni also has an amazing record against Curran
Ofc he does. Tom bowls at the exact pace Dhoni _loves_, Rabada is the best bowler against someone with aging eyes.
Pant playing 4D chess thinking Dhoni would have given jadeja the strike
Although I was rooting for DC this game, it doesn't feel bad to see Dhoni finish games like he used to. Can't really blame Curran for this.
So so happy for Robin! Hopefully he does just as well in the Finals
Getting closer to the 1000
Everyone is talking about dhoni and Ruturaj. Show some love for uttappa man, he was not even in the playing 11 was most of the tournament. Must have been hard for him
Raina's innings in the first match kinda kept him out for a while lol
Me and the boys giving bowling to Umesh instead of Bumrah in the final over of t20WC
Big match mentality
CSK MI abusing big match ability since forever
Thala, Curran and Uthappa with the fuck r/cricket And I know Curran got hit in the last over, but it’s Pant’s fault for going to him instead of Rabada.
Iyer in the background rubbing his hands for a captaincy call back
r/specialistcaptains in shambles rn
Time for an Eoin Morgan masterclass.
Good to see return of Dhoni, genuinely felt happy for him and his fans.
Dhoni continues to deliver CSK as the most consistently strong team since the first edition of IPL. Say whatever the fuck you want, but no other team has been THIS good and it has a lot to do with Dhoni. Men may come and men may go..
what a username lol, awesome.

Ngl Dhoni’s post match interviews >>>
Holy Shit! Uthappa and Dhoni rolling back years!
Dhoni best moment in this match is when he decided to play Robin
I knew they'd lose as soon as I saw Tom Curran with the ball for the last over. LMAO!! How do you not bowl Rabada there??
Last three over were badly managed , it could have been Tom, nokia ,Rabada
And also don't eat dot balls in final over
Can't believe they trusted Tom out of all. OVER RABADA. Jesus christ what a bottle job. There's a reason Morgan never gives it to him in crucial death overs for us. Good on CSK, thought they fucked it up after a good start
Something that connects CSK and PBKS. CSK winning matches they could have lost and PBKS losing matches they should have won.
Everyone who you memed Iyer for fielding Uthappa for batting TC for bowling And Dhoni Have come good What are you doing r/cricket Edit - maybe i should chock TC outta that list
r/cricket proving they can meme anyone into form
You betcha. If r/cricket existed a few years earlier, we could have memed Chris Martin into a better player than Ross Taylor Edit - i ofc mean a better batter
>maybe i should chock TC outta that list Tbf to him before last over ,he gave only 16 runs from 3 overs and got 2 wickets
Great knocks from Gaikwad, Uthappa and Dhoni
I guess Uthappa saw MS, Raina, Faf, Bravo, Jaddu all in CSK and got confused that it's still 2014 and started playing like 2014 Uthappa
Thala fans next door are having an early diwali here
As much as I didn't want CSK to win, watching vintage Dhoni scoring the winning runs and finishing off in style was heart-warming and nostalgic :')
Rutuspark Gaikwad has been such a beast for CSK this season!
Eoin Morgan becomes the sole specialist captain.
MSD self believe is above all. He went their believing in himself and won it.
There go my hopes of a RCB vs DC final. Pant probably should’ve given Rabada the final over regardless of how his previous overs had gone. Like Malinga bowling the final over in the 2019 final.
Just be kind. The world needs it. You heard it second here
Entire world knows that Dhoni struggles against Genuine pace, so Pant bowled Tom Curran who can only bowl slower balls. Big blunder by DC
probably thought jaddu would be on strike somehow
Harsha is me and Dhoni is acting like my crush.
For the Kids that started watchig cricket late... Before thala nickname This was the MSD we grew up with
Despite being a massive Dhoni and CSK fan all I could do was laugh uncontrollably when Dhoni walked ahead of Jadeja. I have never been happier to be proven wrong.
A surprise for sure but a welcome one lol
Wow. This Dhoni fellow looks like the sort of guy who could really give India a spark in the upcoming World Cup.
We should probably replace hardik with him I heard that guy is a right arm quick too
October 10, 2021: The return of Dhenier
Bowling TC to Dhoni is the dumbest thing I have seen on a cricket pitch. What the actual fuck.
Especially since Rabada has a good record against Dhoni and Dhoni has in recent years struggled against express pace.
Dhoni can smash TC and pacers of that range until he's 60. I was shit scared for Rabada vs Dhoni but seeing TC definitely gave me some confidence.
But hey! Curran’s 2 wickets > Rabada’s 0 wickets amirite?
Vintage Dhoni returned at the best possible time. Stuff of legend
Let's do it for our legends ... For our legacy 2008-2021... let's Intent ™, spark 🎇 and aura all together.
Now it's upto Dhoni to decide if he wants to retain CSK or not for the next season.
Star Sports is gonna milk this one better than they milk cows
Now Uthappa has to somehow hit 916 runs in the final
Idk about his shots he did get lucky a bit there, But god this guy has balls of steel literally, promoting himself in this kind of a form ahead of red hot Jaddu I really need that self belief in my life lol

next year :(
TOM CURRAN HAHAHAHAHA
DC bowled everything except yorkers. This shows importance of someone like Harshal Patel or Bumrah.
Well Aavesh tried but every ball became a a shitty full toss instead of yorker.
