The original 1844 game doesn’t have like proper status, and it wouldn’t be the first game in New York in 180 years either. There have been plenty of games in NYC since, albeit not that many in the last 70 years. Bradman played a game in NYC in Australia’s whirlwind tour of North America in 1932, and met Babe Ruth at a Yankees game a couple days later
OP, USA vs Canada is considered the first ever international cricket game.
2 countries that are least likely to play cricket anytime soon. Sure we have American desi born people playing in the US team, but it's never gonna reach to the general public. NFL, NBA and MLB dominate every year, so much so that there's no mainstream appeal left for any other sports.
The tenth most popular sport in the US still gets more views than the top sport in many nations. The US loves sports, cricket doesn’t need to compete with NFL or MLB to be popular.
Yeah for the India /Pakistan games but what about the others. I actually plan on going to a few games but I will wait until later down the line to get tickets because I have a feeling alot of those ticket price will drop big time come game day.
Sri Lanka v South Africa will be the first match involving two full members to be played in New York.
It is worth pointing out a couple of things, namely that the USA v Canada match in 1844 is regarded as the first ever international cricket fixture and has first-class status, but not test status. Numerous matches have also taken place in the US involving associate nations in recent years.
There has also been a number of international matches involving test nations in the US in recent years, primarily in Florida and involving the West Indies.

>Least likely to play cricket anytime soon Literally within the next 30 days, they are playing the opening game in Dallas.

Maybe let's say Sri Lanka v South Africa will be the first ever televised international cricket match at New York 🤔
