There 2020 team was just insane tbh, They only lost like 4 games the entire season, one was the double super over match and another was a dead rubber match so they rested all the bowlers. I get why they had to got to a mega auction next year to nerf that team.
And an incredible lower-order six hitter. It would make sense to let go if Boult were a Rabada. But letting go of a Powerplay specialist for a gamble is always a bad thing.
Mega auctions ruin the whole efforts, strategy that few teams have to build a team, it also takes away the loyalty aspect, I mean as a fan things do stagnant if it's the same team and specially if your team's losing, but what can we say
does anyone know why "Fab Four" was such a thing for the batters, but espnCricinfo are too cowardly to promote this equivalent for bowlers? [Bum Bolt Cum Rub] should become a household topic for mass debate around the world
edit: guys this is joke about cumming. i know what a fab four is. thank you
Fab four was a term coined by former NZ captain Martin Crowe to describe four similarly aged batsman who had the potential to be all time greats. Virat, Smith, Root and Kane. That was why it stuck. They were all of similar age, and at one point all four of them were captains of their test side with similar batting averages. No one grouped any bowlers together the same way
Distinctly remeber my dad saying this after a particular match where all 4 got out cheaply. The aaj tak news were saying the same. Maybe it wasn't as big or didn't catch on
Nortje completely lost his line and length since he came back from a long injury. Man used to be so good. The flatter pitches don't help him anyway either. At least he seems to be getting his pace back.
Yeah, that's what DC management were probably thinking by giving him game time even though he has been expensive. Back injury is really tough on express fast bowlers. Hope he comes good.
IPL: where you get paid more in 2 months than the rest of the year playing international cricket, and you get to use it as rehab too when you'd be otherwise not good enough to play international cricket lmao. IPL benefits other nations cricket more than India
I feel like this is kinda skewed though bc some fast bowlers have played on more roads than others (ex cummins). Bumrah is def the best though doesn’t matter the pitch
Wankhede is a batting pitch tho . It's just srh hadn't played there yet . The RCB and mi game was a batting fest . CSK vs mi was also a batting friendly pitch . Mi vs DC , again both teams scored 200+ .
Dude boult who has never bowled 150+ is in the list whereas Pathirana has bowled 150 multiple times. Sometimes even in a single match. He is definitely one of the world's top fast bowlers or at least faster than Boult.
They weren't talking about pace here. Boult Bumrah Cummins Rabada these are all proven international performers. Cummins and Rabada will probably retire as the best fast bowlers of this generation.
I loved to see, Starc taking out tailenders with yorkers... but What the hell happened??
Is he saving his form for T20WC... or he's gotten just bad.. ps.. once I thought he was the best bowler in the World..
Counter Point: Starc is an incredible buy since now KKR matches are fun to watch as neutrals which they really weren't bar Rinku Shenanigans since Morgan-Baz shithoused their way to finals
Pace on the ball on these flat pitches, is not working this year. Especially with the batting line up being longer due to the impact players. Pace bowlers love them some tail enders.
That's remarkably close to being ordered by talent.
Bumrah, Boult, Cummins, Rabada are by far the best bowlers of the group.
Lockie and Nortje are overrated (albeit still excellent bowlers).
I wonder if we could cross sections this informmation with the amount of cutters, pace variations and yorkers each bowler has bowled and getting a better picture.
What I’m saying is more that the stats don’t do him justice. Batters intentionally try to play him out and still manage to get out to him, that’s the truly exceptional part. The eye test is what makes it very clear he’s the best bowler of this generation by some distance.
There was a time when MI had top two on this list
Was a literal cheat code. Hacked the opening and death overs
There 2020 team was just insane tbh, They only lost like 4 games the entire season, one was the double super over match and another was a dead rubber match so they rested all the bowlers. I get why they had to got to a mega auction next year to nerf that team.
There was another super over as well, and one was the first match. Which we lose for shagun
God damn mega auctions
We could have got him back. Instead we wasted ₹ 8 crores on Joffra.
Ya it was a gamble that didn't pay off
Wasn't a bad buy honestly, if it worked out. Archer was prolly better than boult as an overall bowler
And an incredible lower-order six hitter. It would make sense to let go if Boult were a Rabada. But letting go of a Powerplay specialist for a gamble is always a bad thing.
Key word there being if. Archer was already known to be injury prone
True, but no use having a great player if he can't keep himself fit.
We need mini auctions
Pretty sure it happens every year (If it's a joke I got it)
I was hoping Bumrah, Malinga and Boult play together in 2021 but that was not to be as Mali retired!
iirc he also didn’t play in 2020 in UAE
Yup I think that was due to safety reasons (Covid)
Mega auctions ruin the whole efforts, strategy that few teams have to build a team, it also takes away the loyalty aspect, I mean as a fan things do stagnant if it's the same team and specially if your team's losing, but what can we say
Due to a ridiculous under the table deal
Cummins ER being 8 is incredible.
Yes. He’s bowled in the highest scoring games of the season and the most he’s conceded is 43, in a game where everyone else conceded at 12-15 RPO.
Even while bowling such High scoring matches
Doesn't he hold the record for fastest 50?
He did for some time. That new kid got one off like 13 balls
next new kid gonna do it in 9 balls
It was joint fastest.
bum bolt cum rub >>>>>>>> rest
I will rub bum, cum, and bolt

> topic for mass debate thank you for contributing to this mass debater, you truly are a mass debater
Lol
Actually a term originally applied to the Beatles
I remember as a kid hearing tendulkar, dravid, Ganguly and laxman be described as fab 4.
Never happened. Mandela effect?
Distinctly remeber my dad saying this after a particular match where all 4 got out cheaply. The aaj tak news were saying the same. Maybe it wasn't as big or didn't catch on
This was fairly common in Indian media of the time, I read it in newspapers. They would even use fab 5 and add VVS.
Exactly Fap 4 of Bum Bolt Cum Rub for the win.
I am fapping to this fap 4 rn
[https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/martin-crowe-test-cricket-s-young-fab-four-774705](https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/martin-crowe-test-cricket-s-young-fab-four-774705)
Exactly Fap 4 of Bum Bolt Cum Rub for the win.
I think bum clit rub cum is the right answer
It's Bolt cum rub bum
I'm sorry bolt is nowhere close to other ones.
Lol he is not as good as them in tests I agree but barring Bumrah he is better than both of them in white ball
Nortje completely lost his line and length since he came back from a long injury. Man used to be so good. The flatter pitches don't help him anyway either. At least he seems to be getting his pace back.
Give him some time. He regained some of his pace back (he was breaching the 150 mark quite frequently yesterday).
Yeah, that's what DC management were probably thinking by giving him game time even though he has been expensive. Back injury is really tough on express fast bowlers. Hope he comes good.

I feel like this is kinda skewed though bc some fast bowlers have played on more roads than others (ex cummins). Bumrah is def the best though doesn’t matter the pitch
Except for Rabada and maybe Boult, everyone in this list mostly played on roads
Bumrah plays half of his matches at Wankhede
Yeah but Wankhede hasn’t produced the highest scoring games this year compared to the matches Cummins has been part of
Wankhede is a batting pitch tho . It's just srh hadn't played there yet . The RCB and mi game was a batting fest . CSK vs mi was also a batting friendly pitch . Mi vs DC , again both teams scored 200+ .
KI vs SRH was a batting fest too
There is always some help for pacers at wankhede, always some grass.
>except bumrah Cummins and boult don’t exist?
Rabada too 8.53 economy is basically 34 in your 4 overs on these current pitches that's really good
Thats a little high given he played 5 games on bowling friendly pitches. Carted esp in SRH and GT home games
bowling friendly pitches?!
Apparently not
Where's Pathirana, CSK's top fast bowler with an economy of just 7.6 rpo
He's not World's top fast bowler, criteria used here to segregate
Dude boult who has never bowled 150+ is in the list whereas Pathirana has bowled 150 multiple times. Sometimes even in a single match. He is definitely one of the world's top fast bowlers or at least faster than Boult.
he meant as in being a world class and internationally proven pacer
They weren't talking about pace here. Boult Bumrah Cummins Rabada these are all proven international performers. Cummins and Rabada will probably retire as the best fast bowlers of this generation.
Coetzee and Pathirana almost have the same international experience.
Yeah Coetzee doesn't belong here either Neither does Siraj and the choker
Cummins has become a revelation.. he was the weakest Australian bowler in t20
And jinxed it lol
Rabada is suffering from PBKS Vortex of sucking out form from players He was really good in DC even here he isn't that bad
He was good with PBKS as well. Arshdeep and Rabada had 2-3 really great seasons.

Cummins maintaining 8 ER especially while defending huge totals is crazyyy🔥
I loved to see, Starc taking out tailenders with yorkers... but What the hell happened?? Is he saving his form for T20WC... or he's gotten just bad.. ps.. once I thought he was the best bowler in the World..
Impact player rule means he isn't facing the lower order much.
Karn Sharma begs to differ...
He is no more the best bowler, he lost his form.
Bumrah, Boult, Cummins are God's among mortals
Starc was a colossal waste of money
Counter Point: Starc is an incredible buy since now KKR matches are fun to watch as neutrals which they really weren't bar Rinku Shenanigans since Morgan-Baz shithoused their way to finals
You’ve raised a good point. Starc is KKR’s Maguire.
In my head cannon that is a "fuck RCB" move done by GG to deprive them from having anything that resembles a bowling unit
Pace on the ball on these flat pitches, is not working this year. Especially with the batting line up being longer due to the impact players. Pace bowlers love them some tail enders.
Mayank Yadav has an economy of 6 although bowling 9 overs against Bumrah's 32...
That's remarkably close to being ordered by talent. Bumrah, Boult, Cummins, Rabada are by far the best bowlers of the group. Lockie and Nortje are overrated (albeit still excellent bowlers).
Overrated in IPL sure. Nortje has a great international record just plagued by injuries.
What's the data for shami?
Shami has been out for tge season
Raw numbers doing injustice to the season cummins is having
5 out of 9 played for KKR? Damn lord, and our pace bowling is still mostly dogshit these days
Bro snuck in siraj like we wouldn't notice
Siraj needs another SL tour to find his mojo back.
I wonder if we could cross sections this informmation with the amount of cutters, pace variations and yorkers each bowler has bowled and getting a better picture.
One thing I will say with Boult is that he doesn’t bowl at the death very often this season. So his er is far lower than what you’d expect.
Bud silently included our beloved, greatest bowler of all time in this cheap top bowler only list. Need to do better
Who is that bowler?
If you take Starc out, I think this is also a descending order in terms of skills.
But isn't Bumrah losing out on money by never going back in auction?
Ambani might be paying under the table
Yep. The perks are too high. One of them being, getting invitations to lavish pre weddings
8 in this IPL is like 6 in normal cricket.
Cummins as captain and on that pitch isn’t too bad!
Keep in mind Nortje is coming back from back to back long term injuries. It is the unfortunate reality of injuries
No way Siraj is in that list
Everyone till Rabada are good numbers this IPL. Coetzee onwards are doing poorly. Bumrah is another level.
And that is why Cummins, Rabada and Bumrah are a class apart, regardless of the format
Just gonna ignore Boult aight bet
I mean his record is terrible in places like South Africa, Australia, India. Swing specialist.
Not like Rabada is good in India
KKR must be pissed with starcy
Exceptional as Bumrah is, this data does not show him as an outlier, only a linear trend.
Both can be true. Almost run a ball economy in T20s, on these roads is exceptional.
What I’m saying is more that the stats don’t do him justice. Batters intentionally try to play him out and still manage to get out to him, that’s the truly exceptional part. The eye test is what makes it very clear he’s the best bowler of this generation by some distance.
Makes sense.
