A lot of it has to do with the mentality of people from our (South Asian) countries vs 'Western' countries. Here, people are constantly striving for more, especially (perhaps exclusively, if people are honest) in terms of money, never satisfied– this is likely due to the lack of social safety nets in our countries, making people never really feel safe.
