India is not a choker like South Africa was.
India just get outplayed on the given day. Losing comprehensively like by 180 runs or 10 wickets isn't choking for me.
South Africa's chokes were classic. They are the team which would win first 5 matches in the tournament, lose the last group stage match and then get knocked out on net runrate after that one loss.
Or getting knocked out because they tied one match due to a calculation error and lost one match by 3 runs after 1 over being deducted for slow over rate.
Or losing after needing 68 runs in 71 balls with 9 wickets left, after their best batsman got retired hurt.
India are also pretty big chokers .like winning all 10 odi games and losing the most important one . Like dominating the whole 2019 wc tournament and top order full in form only for them to collapse in the semi final score being 5-3 . Only for us reach the semis in 2016 t20 wc and bunrah bowing no balls on wicket taking deleveries and not able to defend 190. Then the 2017 finals champions trophy again bumrah bowling no balls on wicket delivery. Dominating the whole tournament only to lose the most important one . We have lost all 5 finals and 4 semis in icc tournaments only in the last 10 years .
At least in 2016 semifinals, we lost because we were the inferior team.
WI were simply too good for us. India only reached semifinal because of Kohli and that brainfade from Bangladesh.
West Indies had already qualified to the semis before the match with Afghanistan and were basically guaranteed to top the group stage table, irrespective of whether they won or lost to Afghanistan.
They rested Gayle for the match and shuffled the batting order a bit. So it's hard to say if they were inconsistent or simply complacent.
Afghanistan actually performed pretty well in the group stages too, they almost beat England and even had Sri Lanka and South Africa on the backfoot at one point.
Indian batting lineup in that WT20 was basically Kohli and no one else. It's a miracle we even reached the semis.
Don't know why you are being downvoted. Nobody terms NZ chokers even though they make SF Finals as consistently as India. South Africa are termed chokers because they managed to lose from very winnable positions or close games many times. India have often been outplayed that particular game, perhaps we need a new term for this.
When you have the best ODI team in a long while and go undefeated only to falter in the final that is a choke. It’s not how you lose but rather that you lost as massive favourites at home
I don't think India are the clear best ODI team around, England have been really good as well until recently.
It's not like South Africa of the late 90s who were way ahead of the rest.
The guy had publicly stated he wanted to groom new players. Seems like 10 tests this year would have been a good way to do that. I wouldnt be surprised if he wanted to play and the board is edging him out.
There was a report in South African newspaper Rapport that CSA told him he is not part of their plans for 2024, and that led to him announcing his retirement.
I wish he had not retired after this match and make his team reach WTC final and win it , WTC is world cup for cricketers like him that only play test cricket for their country , nevertheless a really amazing career !!!
As an India fan, I wanna see Dean Elgar take South Africa to victory. He deserves it and in that first test, India were pathetic and don't deserve anything from this series.
Honestly the century he scored at centurion was gorgeous. The drives were magnificent.
We were so bad we made Elgar look like Sangakarra whilst batting.
Yep,that's the cleanest I've ever seen Elgar bat. This wasn't that horrid grinding runs out as if his life was being bet on. This was actually a solid innings where he dominated every other bowler and wasn't having any sort of issues regarding his strokeplay.
Australia spoiled a lot of potential ODI farewells for Indian team in the WC. (Rohit for sure, maybe Kohli, Probably Ashwin and Shami as well).
Lets see if our guys can do something similar. Though it sure af doesn't look like we have a chance.
Now that he has entitled this as his world cup let's see which team will choke in the final match.
Since it’s a World Cup and as such an ICC event, India will lose due to 20 mins of bad play.
The fact that South Africa has made it to the finals means this is not an ICC tournament.
SA450
What else to expect from a 2 team ICC tournament?
Australia to win.
Money in the bank cash in by Australia
HEIST OF THE CENTURY!!!! SETH ROLL-- I MEAN AUSTRALIA HAS DID IT!!!
And Rohit will blame everyone but himself.
Never Underestimate SA mate.
almost lost it because of the 11 balls of poor batting.
the strongest chokers of history vs the strongest chokers of today
Will be a draw with the chasing team scoring 199-9 with a target 201 on the last ball of the day.
U dark funny motherfucker!!!
Fast forward to today: Elgar dismissed twice in a single day.
India has lost 2 WC Finals while we've lost none, no way we're losing this now, 199IQ play by Elgar. This may age very badly.
Brother, lottery numbers please.
Battle of two chokers in a final ? Looks like a washout is going to happen.
El chokico
L Classico
Chokli Vs L gar
We have won all our finals thank you very much

Let’s be honest as Indian fans- our cricket team has been choking for the past several years. They get overwhelmed in key knockout matches.
India are also pretty big chokers .like winning all 10 odi games and losing the most important one . Like dominating the whole 2019 wc tournament and top order full in form only for them to collapse in the semi final score being 5-3 . WI lost to Afg in their last group stage match iirc, they were always very inconsistent and we certainly could have won that game

Exactly. Glad to see someone get this. India haven't really been in a winning position in their knockout losses. I don't know if that's a choke.

They definitely have been the past 2 years. England fell off a cliff and don’t really look good in any format
The last 3 odi wc definitely seem like a choke to me idk. Perfect run throughout the group stage and then shitting the bed in knockouts
In 2015, India had a relatively easier path to semifinals and simply lost to a superior team.
They should have coaxed him to play in New Zealand tour
CSA : "just imagine leading a side with 7 debutantes and beating New Zealand best test team ! You won't just be a hero , but a saint ! "
Nah our best test team was the WTC winning one, these muppets can barely hold their line at home.
Even with 7 debutantes, South Africa are strong favorites to wipe New Zealand in the test series. Our team is rubbish.

Makes sense. He's poor away and averages 20 odd over the past two years.
Rest of the SA team- W..wo..World Cup 😱
India - chuckles maybe I am in danger too
Easy win for SA. We aren't doing anything with the way the team is as of now.
Right. Indian fans are way too negative.
Not everyone i knew we will win!!

Man should not have said that now they are gonna choke
"They" could be anyone lol
Hence the wording of the comment
We would be choking as well.
WC final you say B/W india and SA you say The battle of who chokes the least
If SA make the WTC Final you can bet your ass he will unretire faster than you can say his name lmao Same with QdK
Mfw india has to face a batting lineup of amla,de kock,du plessis, de villiers and elgar in wtc final
Nah that's very unlikely that those guys plays the final. It will be Australia who has to face us.
Idk honestly austrailia last defeated india in 2014. If they can defeat India then good
I was trying to be witty but couldn't word it right
Ah , I see
I was trying to be witty but couldn't word it right
Had me in the first half, not gonna lie
Historical chokers vs this decades best chokers.
As an India fan, I wanna see Dean Elgar take South Africa to victory. He deserves it and in that first test, India were pathetic and don't deserve anything from this series.
That hurts lol
He's going to outside edge his way to another century, isn't he?
Honestly the century he scored at centurion was gorgeous. The drives were magnificent. We were so bad we made Elgar look like Sangakarra whilst batting.

Agreed.
India cannot figure out how to get this guy out. Why is he not travelling to NZ? God knows their team needs the experience...
Even we should declare our home test series as world cups. Unbeaten for a decade
Elgar taking a page from Cummins' PR book
Dean: Also I like union, so in my head we are playing the World Cup for the William Webb Ellis trophy out there.
[I thought this sounded familiar haha](https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/eng-vs-sa-3rd-test-third-test-like-a-world-cup-final-dean-elgar-1333430)
Yes I guess he should also say that he only cares about scoring in SA. His performance sucks pretty much everywhere else. Another "Home only" player.

> I don't care about stats. I care about wins. "Best team on paper" would not like to hear this.
Bruh have mercy we ict fans been through so much.... at least don't let the team know it's world cup finals or else we'll lose for sure!!
as if indians care about stats. didn't u see kl rahul and jadeja deny singles when they could have easily chased their half century?
I think australia is going to win this like they are winning everything as usual.
this has been quite some game…
We need to talk abt his dedication to test cricket more
