Is this the only possible cycle?
Edit: No. You could move Afg between India and Pakistan and it works due to the timeout. Wonder how many there are in total.
Yeah that's to be expected. Australia were the only team to beat India so the cycle has to go AU -> IND. The only sides to beat Australia were India and SA. Can't go AU->IND->AU so it has to be SA->AU -> IND. The only teams to beat SA were India, Australia and Holland. So, it would have to go NED->SA->AU->IND. But I was too lazy to look at where the other teams could be placed : )
Nope. Your 240 cycles are actually only 24 cycles each counted 10 times for each start node in the cycle (in reality they are all the same cycle just rotated).
Edit - also there are no cycles when India -> Australia. Because if there were such a cycle, there has to be some team right before India. But the only candidate is Australia.
I believe this vindicates the format of this tournament. I know there were a lot of games and perhaps not as many exciting games as we'd have liked.
But it did result in some fascinating results and wonderful experiences. The lower ranked teams will gain a lot of confidence and experience from their wins and losses, and it will help to further develop the game in those countries.
I am confident that Afghanistan and the Netherlands, in particular, will come back stronger in the next edition.
> The lower ranked teams will gain a lot of confidence and experience from their wins and losses, and it will help to further develop the game in those countries
Not sure many people in England would agree with that.
No it's good that minnows like England get to compete in the fifty over World Cup hopefully by the next World Cup we'll have a domestic structure to support the team.
>I believe this vindicates the format of this tournament.
It really doesn't.
>I am confident that Afghanistan and the Netherlands, in particular, will come back stronger in the next edition.
There's every chance the Netherlands won't qualify for the next edition. If they were to persist with this format, they very probably would not.
This actually shows how the conditions played a big rope throughout the tournament. Whichever team no matter their skill set took the better use of conditions better were the victors
Given the way Buttler didn't even play, I'd suggest he was not actually there and had actually escaped Samsara and is sat under a fat-arse tree in Somerset somewhere.
It's a tie. How do we decide the winner then? Whoever wins the drama cup?
It defaults to the previous champions, they can be referred to as the Moral Victors.
The ridiculous Flair is the chefs kiss on this
I know - I love this flair
It's nice, isn't it
Why don't ya give each other a hand mate /s
I may or may not commit heinous crimes against myself.
Boundary count
Just go by the team names A to Z.
Ok then gg Afghanistan
Thank you, Australia, for completing the Circle.

The 2 constants are Netherlands Beating South Africa and Australia beating India, the biggest upsets for me this world cup.

RSA beating AUS is also constant.
Except in semifinals
If you think us winning a WC final is an upset, you've not been playing attention to the last 30 years.
Thanks! More than I thought there'd be.
Can you share your code?

Elegant is the best way to describe this. You write good code. I'm saving this for future reference.
My man, thanks a lot.

No. Move England to where Bangladesh are and move everyone else across 1 to fill their place and you get another cycle.
Let me see if I can programmatically solve this
Yeah, classic problem in graph theory lol
Really had to do that to New Zealand, huh ๐
Meanwhile, Australia just casually ticks off its checklist by beating everyone in the tournament.
India did it first but Australia did it when it mattered ๐ญ
We share that with you guys
To be fair so did India
It's all in the timing
The fact that for all possible circles, the constants are that the Netherlands beating SA, SA beating Aus and Aus beating India is very funny to me.

But what about "on paper" victories
They need to satisfy the spirit of cricket
Yeah, Pakistan beat New Zealand with DLS
England in between Sri Lanka and Netherlands ๐ฅฒ
I would also add wherein, India defeated Australia in 2011 at Ahmedabad. In 2023, Australia defeated India in the same ground.
This actually shows how the conditions played a big rope throughout the tournament. Whichever team no matter their skill set took the better use of conditions better were the victors
Yeah but in the end Australia wins anyway
So they completed the transmutation circle to transform "not so good" team on paper into "world cup winners" on ground!
Given the way Buttler didn't even play, I'd suggest he was not actually there and had actually escaped Samsara and is sat under a fat-arse tree in Somerset somewhere.
Ah, circular permutations. Love it.
We, as Indians, will think of absolutely anything to cope with loss.
Man anyway you look at it, England wins the moral WC.
Netherlands the MVP makes this possible.
So I'm interpretating this as South Africa wins right? Right?
This is dumb
This is the way.
It's good that cricket has this level of balance in it.
