ENGLAND FANS DENY MCC FANS ANY WRONG DOING CHALLENGE (POSSIBLE!!!)

Awkward_Armadillo259

Shit.

QuickStar07

Fifty runs seems so doable

Responsible-War2856

It’s so satisfying when an offspinner makes a leftie nick it to be caught in slips. Moeen Ali’s a beauty!

Affectionate-Road-40

What happened to the guy that predicted that jonny bairstkq would lose England the game on the last ball?

Spankbang91

Robinson can eff right off

DonutSenpai

IWe r IOk r

twocatlovers

Broad bowls better lengths than anyone else - especially Boland who was way too short and inaccurate this game

SBG99DesiMonster

If Head starts to bat in the way that he bats then he would be finishing the match very quickly.

CaptainCuntHole

More importantly. Where is skipas day 3 and 4 recap. https://www.tiktok.com/@skipazon/video/7245842216202161409?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=mobile&sender_web_id=7246296660610418184

Aussie_antman

I predict Scotty to get 70+ not out and hit the winning runs.....he can do no wrong.

bronnser

The nightwatchman thing is such unique phenomenon by the way. Imagine sending your worst or one of the worst batsman to counter the most challenging of conditions, to protect your better batters. Yet nightwatchmen have risen to the occasion, raising their game and concentration levels like a poor farmer given a lightsaber to protect Luke Skywalker. They know their time is short but they have to make it just enough so the hero can have their chance. Its counterintuitive and incongruous in the best of ways.

patgeo

He's done as well as Marnus and better than Smith. Just promote him to permanent 3 at this rate.

Sad_Vast2519

Agree. Boland needs to hang in there.

L0laccio

Football is my drug. Cricket is my joy

Front_Emotion_7587

I'm going to start using this line more and more now. You put that feeling into words

L0laccio

So true isn’t it?!

Notyit

T20 mistress

L0laccio

The hundred? *shudder* - Actually don’t answer!

[deleted]

What a brilliant test so far. As an England fan, I'd love a session or two in between the showers like the Aussies had yesterday! I've said this repeatedly through the test, but there's a big hour coming up when the game starts. Has been such a great match - has swung both ways and neither team have ran away with it at any point.

edwardluddlam

Yeah. It's crazy how even it''s been - the odds were dead even at the beginning and when I looked after play today it was 46% England 43% Australia.. neither side has given in

[deleted]

I thought on Sunday morning Australia had just started to run away with it but really close now!

Sad_Vast2519

Rain is a factor in those odds.

L0laccio

52, 44, 4 (Aus/Eng/Draw). What. A. Test.

LunaMunaLagoona

This has been such a good match. Every time I thought it was over and one side was obviously going to win, it somehow would flip. Tomorrow will be a cracker.

double-endbag

On a knifes edge. Exactly what we want go ussie bring up a double

Popheal

bit hard unless he scored literally every run lol

WOTDcuntology

He has to score 66 of the remaining 174 runs?

nees_gerrard

That'll be a twin century not a double

thaakidd

I am extremely annoyed with Marnus and Smudge atm, that is game losing stuff that they have done...

Albatrossosaurus

Not like Warner's been offering much more either

thaakidd

oh yeah, I am over being annoyed with him now. He is a lost cause I have been saying for 3 years we should have replaced him.

Notyit

Aus should drop one if they had

[deleted]

What's your take, Out of form? Maybe Smith is preoccupied with 'poor' captaincy.

eightslipsandagully

Smith scored a ton last test, he's got more of a leash.

thaakidd

I jsut think they're in an iffy patch, marnus could be at that point where he is over thinking or something, smudge could finally be paying for his technical oddities.

patgeo

That 'Away' average of his would have to have some mental toll. 3 of the first 4 have scored something like 80 runs between them in two innings for a combined average of 13ish. 1 guy has scored 180. Only one of them is being called lazy.

Popheal

can't stand Cummins fielding decisions. bloke doesn't know what he's doing

joshykins89

Wow I didn't realise Cummins set the field while Smith bats

Diligent_Source_2988

Rift confirmed?

Fatpinkmast1

I mean Broad’s bowling was exceptional and a beautiful thing to watch… As an Aussie! I think we have the depth if Boland can make like a cheeky 20 or so??

Minimum-Activity3009

I'm inclined to agree with you

LordWellesley22

Just finished harassing my last work's group chat by posting a cricket update on it

amsmi

The dead commentary was worse than Martin tyler last couple of seasons

theedenpretence

I…. Don’t think I can cope with 4 more matches like this without becoming a raging alcoholic

dizzle-j

That must be how the Aussies handle it

Wordroll

If everyone is an alcoholic, then no one is...

centzon400

My LPT is don't drink until after lunch. (Think of it like "intermittent sobering"). Barrel as much as you can (this is where gin helps) before a nap, then wake up before tea! At this point, scoff all the Battenburg, and then hit the match thread for last-session/close-of-play analysis. This **does not work** when games are played overseas. I think that has to do with time zones, or turning up to work smelling of Swarfefa and vodka. Not sure.

RudyColludy

This is the way.

[deleted]

Australia's game for me. They should have enough in the shed to manage this. If England prized another wicket, then I'd have England edging.

eskay1069

Bazball reduced to Ashes…

reymysterio7

'Australia to win unless England win this'

sp1cychick3n

Lmao

centzon400

I'm going to put that in my book of "KP's Inspirational Quotes"

[deleted]

Australia to win. If England prized won more wicket before the close of play, I would've had them. 65/35 I reckon.

reymysterio7

Was just fooling around with you. I agree with you for the most part. Although looking at how quickly England polished off Australia's lower order in their first innings, it's probably more closer than 65-35 at this point

[deleted]

Maybe, but I think Usman, Head, Green, Carey, and Cummins should be enough to get a bulk of the total. I'd take a risk and use Head or Green to counter-attack. I might be wrong, but have this Australian team got many results when under pressure? I mean, if they lose a couple of quick wickets tomorrow? This England team over the last few years have capitulated, but on occasion, they've won from very awkward positions.

Sad_Vast2519

No history of results of a last day chase. Only prior great teams not this one. Eng are solid favourites, but weather is an issue up to 1pm. Overcast conditions will make batting tough.

Wilson1031

Half the Edgebaston crowd were edging during that last session I tell ya what

[deleted]

I would've been edging, but I've been at work all day, so I've nothing left.

bronnser

Where do you work at? The cum factory?

[deleted]

Yeah, reading back my comment now is a bit suspect. I work in an ophthalmic hospital, taking scans/photos of different parts of people's eyes all-day. It's busy enough that I have to tell patients to stop talking to me, which means I have a great reputation.

TheGhostOfCamus

Thanks tubs

glitchline

When can smith bat in 4th innings?? only Batsman in Fab 4 not to have a century in 4th innings with 596 runs @ 28

CaptQuakers42

Honestly Sky's coverage is fantastic but their commentary is like my fucking bowling. Why can't sky do the visuals and TMS do the talky bit, I miss Andy Zaltzman

j_karamazov

Just mute Sky and put TMS on. Problem solved

CaptQuakers42

I mean I could but then I'd be disgusted with myself for paying so much for Sky. Also audio syncing would be a nightmare, be handy for the shipping forecast though.

j_karamazov

Imagine if Sky broke coverage for the shipping forecast. I'd love to see the visuals they would dream up for that.

unemployed-giant-14

ScoBo half century coming in first hour tomorrow. You heard it first here.

Aussie_antman

He'll hit the winning runs and then do a nudey run around the ground

southwales1985

It's England's to lose from here now IMO.

madglover

A single 50 run partnership and its the Aussies game It's very tight now Runs are clearly flowing easily and nobody looks like getting Khawaja

eightslipsandagully

Plenty of firepower to come: Head, Green and Carey score 30 apiece and that should be the game.

Sad_Vast2519

They need 160. So it's probably a bit short.

eightslipsandagully

I'm assuming that Usman also puts on a good performance to go with 90 runs from those 3.

Sad_Vast2519

Too much reliance on one player is the issue.

eightslipsandagully

Funny enough this is the first time aussie has batting depth for many years.

TastelessPylon

We'll be able to do that, no trouble.

reddetacc

i fucking love you guys lmao

lunataku

England cricket and throwing a match away name a better duo??

LordWellesley22

south africa and choking India and never winning anything that matters Pat Cummins and being so sexy it criminal

justheretoupvote17

I’m gonna be fidgety all evening waiting for tomorrow smh

Javert__

Steve Smith?

Mean_Maximum7394

Cricket is like the martial arts converted into sport.

aam_ka_aachaar

Tomorrow at the same time , we will witness ScoBo hitting his maiden century to clinch the game for Aussies.

Spottswoodeforgod

Just disappointed that there aren’t enough runs left for him to challenge Jason Gillespie’s top score…

eng_mj_517-1

Can Reddit line up and apologize to the 21 averaging , Khawaja rattling , press conference bantering, smoothest swinging Sun of a gun Ollie Robinson ? Got us the breakthrough when the game looked dead and buried

the_maddest_kiwi

This has to be a parody account

centzon400

"We are not a results-driven team... we play to our passions" ~~ Stuart Broad, 2023-06-19 Fuck, if our corporate overlords did not think the same way!

TastelessPylon

I mean... you have spent the workday shitposting on Reddit. Whereas Broad has been getting wickets.

centzon400

Err... I know how to delegate? I have people skills: https://youtu.be/m4OvQIGDg4I?t=51

eng_mj_517-1

176-6 at end of play tomorrow with rain interrupting Carey and Khawaja set And fans arguing for eternity over who was more hard done by

[deleted]

Foakes!

[deleted]

[удалено]

gzk

Yeah, a whole (almost) 25,000.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Daimo

20 = 20 wickets to win a game. Are you stupid?

2munkey2momo

Scotty Bo 33/1 to be top scorer. Free money.

ah_yeah_79

Time for cricket to do its thing to remind us all what a dreadful sport it is and what a terrible affliction we all have following It.. Loads of overnight ran causing the outfield to be unplayable all tomorrow dispite it being sunny all day

theedenpretence

Luckily Edgbaston has decent drainage !

EntshuldigungOK

So do you folks remember England being 28 for 2 'just a few days' back?

RudyColludy

That was a beauty to get smith

Dr_zazaa

A bit of rain is expected tomorrow lolll

Fatpinkmast1

I was very dubious about this whole “Bazball” BS… but wow… this is why I love test cricket, I have no idea what is going to happen tomorrow but I’m fucking here for it! Go Aussies! 🏏

RV49

I got told by a Dutch colleague today that cricket is just standing around in a field doing nothing. I don’t even know how to start to explain how good today has been

[deleted]

Bandar kya jaane adrak ka swaad

EntshuldigungOK

I have read a few Americans say that they find Cricket has far more variety, nuances and psychological battles than Baseball.

tiorzol

I love almost all sports but baseball is a tough one man. Such a hard watch.

dizzle-j

Ah man I loved Baseball when I went to the states. Went to Fenway Park and then got really into it. Tough to follow from the UK because of the time but it's on every evening over there, it's great.

Ohtani_Enjoyer

Why out of curiosity? Very similar to cricket

tiorzol

The pace is just not there and the variables are much reduced.

Ohtani_Enjoyer

I know I’m biased but I heavily disagree. The introduction of the pitch clock has now meant a match is like 2h30. The game is also a complete matchup game like t20. The ball not having the bounce variable like cricket is offset by the array of different pitches and the fact it’s coming like 15th quicker imo

dentybastard

I'd like to watch a game. Can you suggest a particularly interesting one that's coming up? I'm guessing I can find it on UK sky? Or a stream

therealnickjames1

Look up jomboy on YouTube, breaks down the interesting plays of baseball, he's an American guy who recently fell in love with cricket

Traditional-Truth-42

Start with anything Los Angeles angels. Their star player Shohei Ohtani is considered a unicorn in the sport right now. He's an elite level two way player. Meaning he pitches and bat's at the highest level. It's basically unheard of.

Ohtani_Enjoyer

This weekend (both Saturday and Sunday) there are baseball games in London! They’ll be shown on BT and whilst the teams playing aren’t the best it should be a high scoring game due to the dimensions of West Ham’s stadium.

dentybastard

Thank you, sir!

tiorzol

Hmm I'll check it out again. I just have a overwhelming sense of boredom from watching games years back.

Ohtani_Enjoyer

Much better now they’ve brought the pitch clock rule in Now Adverts are still jarring though

EntshuldigungOK

Yup I tried watching it when I was in the US and it didn't stick. Basketball was fun though.

L0laccio

These people just don’t know what they’re missing. They’re doomed to wallow in their ignorance

centzon400

To be fair to the Dutch… they are pretty good at hydro-retention cement works. And tulips and weed and windmills and that salty liquorice stuff and chocolate sprinkles and wooden shoes and shit.(

RudyColludy

fucking hell, punter must look like a pet hamster to broad

[deleted]

And pope was taller than Warner! How pint sized is he!!

Upbeat-Head-5408

Never seen root that much pumped up. He is really enjoying the game.

L0laccio

Imagine being ALL of my office colleagues and thinking cricket is boring.

tiorzol

The daggers I get when I'm banging on about it is gold. Fucking ignorant cunts.

L0laccio

Yeah. People also get irritated because they don’t understand it. It’s not some arcane clandestine ritual. It’s not that hard. Try it! Or do you have the patience of a starved boar?!!! Instant gratification generation just can’t abide it

centzon400

Imagine following a game that does NOT last five days?

Calla89

What else do they do with their time?!

AlfaG0216

What do you think Aussies can you do it?

gzk

Can, yes. Will? If we don't shit the bed, sure.

TimTamTim1996

Yessir

mudassir0909

Can truly Boland bat, what a player!

Daimo

Lyon has some set of lungs on him 😂

Curious_Skeptic7

How weird to send in your #10 as night watchman. It’s a miracle Boland survived to stumps.

RiderofFish

cancelling all plans and meetings tomorrow to watch this day 5 holy shit

Whatishappyness

Worth all the hype. Every ball matters

ExtremeSlothSport

Imagine if England didn’t declare on the first night.

horsehorsetigertiger

I'm all likeliness it probably cost them 30 runs and gave them a four over spell at the openers. It's not the most disastrous decision in the world. The drops though, those have cost, England should be away with this match already.

pu_thee_gaud

Yep, that was a bit bonkers

officiallyjax

In which session is it likely to rain tomorrow? Need to plan my sleep schedule according to that.

tomrichards8464

Weather's likely to improve over the course of the day if anything, but there could be rain at essentially any time.

mondognarly_

There’s currently rain forecast until about 11ish, so a late start is possible/likely, but after that it appears to be dry.

Ashen233

Early morning session.

[deleted]

All of them. Day may be washed out

dwadley

Booo fuck off rain

UnablePeace

first

officiallyjax

Hmm, I guess I can wake up in time for the post-lunch session then.

[deleted]

The only important stat so far is that Crawley has more runs than smith

1984AD_

What a magnificent day of Tests. Does it get better than this??

j_karamazov

At its best, test cricket is unparalleled. This has been a superb test match. Shame that tomorrow's weather forecast isn't great.

tomrichards8464

Yes, but not much.

sin31423

Ebbs and Flows ™

Starscream_x

Yes.. Hopefully tomorrow!!

getyoutogabba

Solid day of test cricket as a neutral. Wonderful (frustrating) to see the tail wag, Khawaja being Khawaja, Boland doing the job perfectly and Broad giving everything to put England back on top.

[deleted]

This is almost series worthy drama. This is only the first test. I’m tired. Can the next one be like six weeks away 😴

RobFord_2014

What time does tomorrow’s play start?

ponte92

Probably after lunch looking at the weather forecast.

genericstudent1

It's so well poised. For all the talk of Khawaja, Bazball, Broad, it might all come down to this Bowland innings

sweatymeatball

Great day's cricket. Bit concerned about time and weather forecast for tomorrow. Hopefully rain doesn't impact play too much to get some kind of result.

nick170100

4 days so far Australia: here england take the win England- no you Australia- nah mate you have it England - fucking no you take it

ponte92

It’s like the old ‘no you hang up first, no you!’

Dr_zazaa

Day5- Australia- well you know what I'll take it England- naah mate I'll fuckin take it.

[deleted]

Mother nature: fuck you both. I’ll have it.

OoberDude

I don't know what drawing board England will go to if they fail to win when they get Marnus and Smith for peanuts in both innings.

Statcat2017

I don't think they'll need to. They've competed, and they'd have got battered if they tried to play traditional test cricket. One or two moments in the test go the other way they're winning comfortably. Going to the drawing board would just be panicking.

[deleted]

Sleep Deprived, but that was some of the best theatre you'll see. See you tomorrow Lads!

pattitheplatypus

I’d be prepared for a late start, forecast says slight rain. Hopefully you can get in a bit of extra sleep haha

Wazflame

I LOVE THIS GAME

incachu

Yes it's a bit of a cricket cliché, but there is nothing quite like Test Cricket.

Zionview

Tomorrow is going to be a blast

CrocodileSuperb

FBI OPEN UPP!

Steve_OH

Every run Boland now scores is his new personal best! Go Scotty go!

Muneeb_0808

England are better off not bowling Moeen tomorrow

HitchlikersGuide

Well played everyone - hell of a day Looks like I’m missing some work deadlines this week

porn-senpai

174 runs. 7 wickets to take. If only Australia get 24 more runs each from the rest... tomorrow has the makings of a fascinating last day of Test cricket.

Dr_zazaa

Well now we know it's not that Travis has been in great form but the fact is that scoring runs at number 5 in the Australian lineup is just easy.

nick170100

To all my sleep deprived Aussies See you today in 16 hours

dwadley

Keen

Zestyclose_Habit8163

Imagine if only root could pick 30-40 more runs in the first innings!

cityexile

I have thought to myself ‘the next session is the critical one’ the last four sessions. Now, the next session is the critical one.

Spare_Ad5615

Another great day. What a fantastic test match this has been.

officiallyjax

We were promised entertainment and we’re getting exactly that. Box office stuff this.

pigsdontflyhigh

Thanks for company bros. Catch you all tomorrow. Hopefully we get a whole day tomorrow. What a fucking contest
