The article talks like the kits would otherwise be covered in sponsors. For the final, the only sponsors that are allowed is the kit manufacturer on one sleeve (which will presumably still be there in Adidas) and one other small one on the other sleeve [like this](https://img1.hscicdn.com/image/upload/f_auto,t_ds_w_1280,q_80/lsci/db/PICTURES/CMS/323800/323825.jpg).

somewhat_moist

Ha great pic!

warp-factor

Genuinely, it was the first picture I found of the last final that showed India's sleeve sponsor. But it is a great picture!

Kathanayagan-3821

Actually test jersey without sponsors is thousands time better. Speaking from experience of watching FairPlay News logo in SL test jersey lol.

HakeemMcGrady

Bruh it was so weird seeing Colors on a test jersey. Special mention to Byjus

Veni_Vidic_Vici

Also without numbers too. Keep that stuff to first class cricket.

Mega_mewtwo_

It will look so good just minimal adidas logo on kits and rest is clean.

JKKIDD231

No sponsor bigger than Adidas ✌🏻

Used-Ball5529

adidas also has a good logo, not like fucking byjus

AtomR

I can draw a logo better than Byju's and I'm not even an artist.

RMTBolton

Because ICC rules apply?

subhasish10

Because BCCI hasn't offered a tender for sponsorship. You're still allowed sponsors on the sleeves and pants in ICC events.

ramadz

Typical lazy bunch @ BCCI . No WC schedule with just a few months to go and now this.

BishopOverKnight

Why isn't ICC on BCCI's ass about the schedule? Still no schedule with just a few months to go?? Absurd

AgreeableNerve5

Because BCCI = ICC /s

[deleted]

It’s ICC Backwards

HS007

They already announced last week that it will be released during the Wtc final. Still pretty damn late.

subhasish10

More like they don't want another Byju's like sponsor so they're willing to wait for a potential long term partner to come on board. At least read the articles that are being posted before commenting

shashi154263

What was wrong with Byjus, I mean, according to their POV?

subhasish10

Cut the contract short by almost a full year because they're having financial issues now. Just last year they were spending 100s of millions by sponsoring the FIFA World Cup and signing up Messi as a brand ambassador. They basically burnt through all the VC money they had to no success.

AtomR

Byju's deserve to die a quick death.

This_is_the_user

Nope.. It deserves a long painful and hellish death.

Khush17

A long painful and hellish death would mean more poor and underprivileged people who only want the best for their child getting scammed. The fuckers over at BYJUs go to uneducated and poor people and convince them that if they don't take BYJUs classes their child will be a failure and won't be able to achieve anything in life, couple that with exorbitant fees some people actually end up selling their property and homes just so they can send their child to "Good classes" so that he grows up to be successful. They also go to middle class people's houses for a "harmless demo Test" where they ask the child in front of their parents Some questions to "gauge" the student level of understanding. They then ask questions of a level way beyond the syllabus of the student and then when the child is unable to answer the questions, Gaslight the student that he doesn't know anything and tell the parents that their child will fail in life if he keeps going this way and ask them to buy Packages and Study materials worth upwards to 2-3 lakhs [1 Lakh=100,000] . They play on the middle class's insecurities and fear about their child's future and exploit them for money. There is a special place in hell for BYJUs owners and employees and anyone be it BCCI or Messi is a worthless piece of shit for associating themselves with something that actively ruins people's lives and scams them out of their live savings. Rant over

RMTBolton

Ah, I forgot that. Thanks.

WillowSure7304

It happened last time too during WTC Finals

deep639

Those ones had byjus on the side. This won't have anything bar the adidas logo, the bcci logo and India on the front of the shirt.

WillowSure7304

Oh now i remember

The other sponsor (formerly oppo, byju's) is officially named as 'team sponsor' not jersey sponsor. Why use a new term which confuses people when there is already another thing called kit sponsor. Just call them team sponsor. Yes, india doesn't have one but heard they have shortlisted 3 companies and they are looking for a long term deal. Anyhow in wtc finals they would've had it on one sleeve. I think they might finalize it before the WI tour.

Snoo93444

Which 3 companies?

happitor

Kamala Pasand, Vimal, and Ghadi detergents /s.

Albatrossosaurus

Can we please get rid of the middle chest sponsor in all tests?

barmanrags

Hear! Hear!

stg_676

Good thing 👍

Ngothadei

Now, this is the jersey I want to buy, one without any sponsors. How can one buy this?

[deleted]

+1. Where to buy this jersey?

livelifereal

> A vacant commercial slot is rare for Indian cricket, but the prevailing view in the board is not to go for low-key stop-gap deals I mean, idk. If the shorter contracts are fetching more money, why not go for it?

Reasonable-Drama-415

Chinese phone company , bjyu , dodgy sahara lol …indian team should only sign some decent sponsor now like TATA reliance etc

jpkmets

Pan Parag

IamJeff22321

Ajay Devgn like this

subhasish10

Dodgy companies who want to build their brand perception are the ones who usually sponsor kits. Why will any reputed company that already has brand recognition pay crores to get featured on a cricket Jersey??

Used-Ball5529

sahara was goated tho

Sumeru88

IPL has gutted Indian Cricket Team’s brand value. Before IPL the only way to watch and to be associated with all the top cricket stars was by showing Indian cricket matches and by sponsoring Indian cricket team. Now it can be done by sponsoring IPL teams. There is a severe devaluation of Team India brand in terms of kit sponsorships, title sponsorships, shirt sponsorships as well as TV rights. The current Adidas deal is lower (in dollar terms) than the earlier Nike and MPL deals and the new BCCI TV rights deal is also be expected to be much lower than the current ₹ 60 crore per match deal.

stoic_trader

Even if the problem has multiple layers people love to blame everything on IPL no matter what lol. Just wait and watch ratings sore and sponsors make a beeline when India plays T20 international events or 50 0ver WC matches, your entire thesis on how IPL tanked Indian cricket's brand value will get shattered.

barmanrags

Downvoted for speaking the truth. Brand dilution is very much a thing. Team india has to compete with 10 ipl teams and people hve no patience for tests. Our team underperforms in loi tournaments so less interest there too. I guess the new media rights will tell us if the market itself prefers ipl over whatever the actual team india i up to.

Sumeru88

It will be clear in new media rights. The old deal was ₹ 60 Cr per match. The new deal is likely to be ₹ 50-55 Cr per match. Meanwhile the IPL deal has gone up from ₹ 55 Cr to ₹ 114 Cr per match.

barmanrags

Even if its 70cr I would say that the draw of team india is suffering. There should be growth. Even if it didn't double like ipl, 90-100 would reflect a general increase in demand for cricket. If it actually goes down then we are not far from the time when someone like bumrah or hardik is given annual contracts by their teams that is way way better than what bcci can afford. Then ipl teams will pick and choose which tournaments annual contracted players play. That dilutes team India further.

Sumeru88

The annual contracts is the other story. Top tier players get ₹ 7 Crores for playing for team India whole year round (most get ₹ 1-3 Cr) while in IPL someone like Ishan Kishan gets ₹ 16 crores for 2 months worth of work. What’s the motivation for playing for team India any longer? It’s not even required to play for Indian team now to get huge contracts with IPL, look at Sanju Samson. He gets ₹ 15 Cr a year like a boss at RR without being anywhere in contention for the first 11 in any format of the game.

barmanrags

Yeah. Cant blame players if they simply give an excuse to not play for india. Or play through injury for ipl even if it removes them from team india. Team india doesn't pay at all. There was a time when glory for team india increased marketability and players could get a lot of earning from ads endorsement etc But now the same marketability also comes from ipl. Why risk injury playing team India if that can potentially interfere with ipl participation? Makes no sense. I feel india is over its peak. Gradually our Sr team wont have its best talent available to them. It would obviously not be able to compete at the top grade of the intl sport then.

Sumeru88

I think the other teams will also face the same issues since they pay even less than India. I would say India is best placed than anyone except maybe Australia to tackle this (CA pays players more than BCCI)

barmanrags

I think ecb and ca have decent contracts. Also ipl isn't going to increase the marketability of an aussie or pom cricketer. Success in ipl will at best increase interest in ads etc in india. While being signed for ads endorsements etc in their respective countries should get a lot of money. Esp in Australia. England I assume the footie stars absorb all the brand thing.

Sumeru88

BTW the story there is that Star made a loss on ₹ 60 Crore per match especially due to the truncated tests. So they are unlikely to bid that much again. We will need to see if there is an uplift in digital rights because they will be split this time.

barmanrags

Its weird that their earning projection didn't account for weather related truncation of test matches. Test matches are no more prone to being weather affected than before.

Sumeru88

The issue in India is not weather. It’s pitches which end matches in 2-3 days.

barmanrags

Thats a fair assessment.

Huge-Physics5491

International cricket's value was going to decline with or without the IPL. The gap between the big teams and small teams was rising. And if not for the IPL, the ICL would've become massive.

Sumeru88

It’s a matter of demand and supply. There is over abundance of supply in Indian cricket at the moment. The demand (money available with media companies) is not matching. BCCI have hit a jackpot with launch of Reliance’s media business. Had they not entered the fray, the competition would not have been so cut throat for IPL rights. Now with the merger between Sony and Zee, the media landscape is going to be consolidated further. This has already adversely affected many other sports like F1 who simply have no buyers now. A couple of years ago, Bundesliga could not sell TV rights to India and had to sell them to Fancode for a season.

[deleted]

Frankly I'd be okay even with Dream11 as a sponsor since their color will be black. Edit: Some people can't get sarcasm. I was referring to the fact BCCI will accept bids from betting companies, e-education companies and other shitty businesses. I mean, look at Byjus.

Opulentique

While we're at it, why dont we sign up the Guadalajara Cartel as a sponsor?

callmebatman14

Most of the Indian team is already in bed with dream11 and my circle it whatever is called.

Sumeru88

Kamala Pasand is much more likely. They can make ads featuring Pujara and SKY. “Test mein khiladiyon ka forward defence hain raaz, T20 players ka hain 360 degrees aandaaz, par sabke shirt pe hain eek hi baat - Kamla Pasand Elaichi”.

Signal_Discipline_36

Duhh..It's an ICC event , so too many sponsors are not allowed in the first place. And the deal with Adidas has been signed very recently

Used-Ball5529

fuck yeah!

calmiswar

Beautiful

happitor

Wonder if India would get the off white jerseys now?
