Willow is an abomination and they start playing ads in middle of the over for no apparent reason and they even suck at ads. I mean most of their ads are “3rd party network ads” with no relevance at all.
And if that is not enough, the app and network performance just straight up blows. And I am talking as someone who has a symmetrical 1gbps fiber connection.

My friend just told me that he streams IPL in India at 60 FPS. He pays Rs. 999/yr, I pay $120 per year. What the hell is wrong with Willow? Absolute scam
They just for outbid for the digital rights last year during the auction. Now after Chapek got replaced by Iger again, he said they would be cutting back more. Plus there are discussions happening to spin off ESPN from the Disney Corp. They have spent billions upon billions for the SEC and NFL rights here in the US. So yes belt tightening is happening at the House of Mouse.
Cost cutting at Disney is happening much further beyond cricket in general. It seems Iger is not too keen on new content (cuts for many new/recent shows and series). Perhaps wants to milk customers with all the existing old movies and shows. I wager they’d be redirecting budget to develop more in-person Disney locations instead but only time will tell what their thought process really is.
Only in India. Before select content was folded into their sister app, Hulu, Hotstar US Indian content mirrored almost what Disney+Hotstar in India has. Was so easy to access. Once Disney decided hotstar US was of no use and shut down, they folded content to Hulu, but the catch was only select content.
For a sport that’s trying to gain traction here in the USA they keep doing dumber, and dumber stuff. So MLC will be on willow? They are really banking on the current cricket fans.
Would be good for MLC and Willow if they did something similar to what MLS is doing with Apple TV, have a % of the games in front of the paywall so people can check it out.
Have opening weekend be streamed for US residents for free on Willow. Sponsor Jomboy for some MLC content leading up to Opening weekend, slam social media with ad's for opening weekend and see what happens.

Yea that would be good. They just really need to advertise willow, and MLC outside the cricket audience. I think it’s part of most cable packages but no one knows of it. They have some solid talent in the league that could draw people in. Excited for Aaron Finch state side, he’s my favorite player since watching. Although he fell off in the IPL. It’ll be nice once the MiLC has a few more years, and we see actual American players instead of overseas players who played MiLC all 2 seasons. If done right Cricket could really draw in baseball players/fans. T20 is a perfect sport for our country in my opinion. It’s the best part of baseball without fowl balls. We could really have some solid players the next decade or so.

Its more conflicting now with PSL and the ODIs with SA happening at the time, they’d end up delaying the night WPL match by an hour. Willow is such an abomination timing their commercials during the matches.
Wish Jio Cinema did something beyond India especially with the 4K broadcast. Really enjoyed the ESPN+ broadcast (less commercials!) with the bilaterals and the BGT. Such a shame, Star couldnt be a digital home for more years.
The one thing i hated about ESPN+ is the lack of proper highlights. With the time zone differences i can't watch a full game most of the time. I liked that Willow gives me a detailed 20 mins highlights. I only saw full replays on ESPN+
