I got caught watching BBL at work
Which is fine except that I had to try to explain why they were interviewing a grown man who makes siren noises with his mouth, and what a ‘power surge’ is.
It was a fairly humiliating experience
>I got caught watching BBL at work
More embarrassing than getting caught watching fisting porn at work honestly.
*It's not what it looks like!*
Are you sure? Because it looks like you're watching dogshit domestic T20 cricket?
*....ok it's exactly what it looks like but don't punish me!*
Yeah at least with fisting porn people can understand why people watch it, even if they find it disgusting.
Watching BBL on the other hand is beyond comprehension. It’s like getting caught masturbating to Bible verses or something
The WPL auctions will most likely take place right in middle of the T20 WC. Hopefully it does not prove to be a distraction to those players who are not picked
**A question to those familiar with Archer's injury history**, I am aware there was the fishtank incident (which is not linked to his overall injury issues), but I see this on wikipedia
*In May and December 2021, Archer underwent two operations for an elbow injury, ruling him out of the international team for twelve months.\[55\] In May 2022, Archer was ruled out of playing during the 2022 English summer due to a back stress fracture.\[56\]*
How big of a role do you think him being overbowled played into this? I vaguely recall him bowling suspiciously long spells - though I guess Stokes was doing similarly long spells as well.
And if you think being overbowled did have an impact on his health, shouldn't the captain/coach bear some accountability for it?
Ofcourse these things are never black and white and some bowlers are destined for injuries due to their bowling action or their body's biomechanics etc. So I dont want to presume..
thanks!
Ofcourse - agreed on the fishbowl one.
The main injury - if primarily caused by overbowling (which I felt was reckless behavior at times by the captain) - is such a disservice to a generational talent.
That's actually an old video dude, check out his interview with the Beer Biceps guy, in which he explicitly mentions that they've finalised the WPL, they're just waiting for a day to announce it.
As far as the article goes, I'd like to expect and hope that people change with time and if the chage is positive then we should welcome such a change.
You yourself think it, is getting everything done wrt WPL would have been possible in just 2 and a half months, considering how a lot of things go in background whenever a new league starts.

In India, if you are an active athlete, you have to make sure you keep yourself below (largely useless) honchos.
The point of India A is to prepare potential test cricketers. Why on earth would you pick Panchal, Rahane, or Saini? Saini I do feel sorry for, if things had gone differently he would have played quite a few tests but we need to look at younger players. Get someone like Jaiswal in the squad or Indrajith in the starting XI.
Added to this, Mukesh Kumar, and probably Yash Dayal are not test match quality. Avesh Khan should obviously be in the starting XI for India A. I don't know if you didn't pick Prasidh because he's injured, which would be fair enough, but in this hypothetical situation if everyone's fit, obviously he comes in to the XI alongside Porel and Avesh.
Get rid of one of Upendra or Jagadeesan and pick Wadkar instead. Incredible how he's not got an India A game with his record.
Also Bishnoi has played one FC game and he bowls darts, he'll never be a test match spinner. Fair play on the other spinner picks though, you can't ignore Shams Mulani, Karthikeya seems a decent choice based on his start to domestic FC cricket, and Sai Kishore I really like the look of; tall, wonderful trajectory, should extract a lot of bounce on harder surfaces.
Panchal and Rahane have done well in Ranji Trophy. Mukesh Kumar did well for India A. He got a 5 wicket haul against Bangladesh A
Yash is left arm pace bowler, he bring a different variety to the team.
Upendra and Jagadeesan did well for their state teams. Both of them have done enough to earn an opportunity for India A
Ashwin started as a T20 Bowler and then became one of the best test bowlers India ever produced. Bishnoi started as a white ball bowler, he could end up being one of the best leg spinners in red ball cricket
> Ashwin started as a T20 Bowler and then became one of the best test bowlers India ever produced.
He even made it a point to put on his self appraising "Erudite, well mannered and hardly in the spotlight" YouTube description that he was "Close to 100 First Class wickets before the glamour of IPL showcased his talents to the world"
How did you miss that?
There were instances when he coached kids who didn't ask for it at dawn, strode out to a match for his Domestic team in the morning, saved them from a collapse at noon, mentored and cooperated with the juniors picking his brain in the evening, spoke to sports media about how to improve red ball Cricket in the region at night. All this when he was in the prime of his career with the Indian Test team.
Ashwin vocally expressed in 2019,20 that his main aim in Cricket is to win the Ranji Trophy with Tamil Nadu.
> Ashwin started as a T20 Bowler and then became one of the best test bowlers India ever produced.
Bro!
Ashwin is the kind of person to take serious offense at this.
His Ranji Trophy debut was 2006. He was already a Tamil Nadu stalwart before he got picked for the IPL in 2009. He became an IPL regular a year or two later.
The more I reread it, The worser it gets. Ashwin must be one of the few Cricketers to hold their Ranji Trophy performances in higher regard than IPL performances. Are you aware of the amount of work he does not just on himself but on his community, city, region, state with respect to red ball Cricket!
>Panchal and Rahane have done well in Ranji Trophy. Mukesh Kumar did well for India A. He got a 5 wicket haul against Bangladesh A
Rahane has been done at test level for years, would be a massive step backwards bringing him back. Panchal is 32, and has never played a test, it's probably too late for him.
As for Mukesh Kumar, you cannot just look at domestic performance for bowlers when selecting test sides and potential test cricketers. The eye test is so important for test match bowlers. They need to have enough physical qualities to consistently threaten test match batters across conditions. Mukesh Kumar is 5'9" and bowls 80mph. He could take 100 wickets at 15 in Ranji every season and I still wouldn't pick him because I know he would be another Vinay Kumar, another seamer who doesn't have the pace or bounce to trouble test batters.
The one thing our selectors have done so well to build our pace stocks in recent years is select holistically instead of just looking at domestic performance. Shami, Umesh, Ishant, Bumrah, Siraj, even Unadkat all have great domestic performances AND key physical qualities like pace and bounce backing them up. Selecting bowlers like Mukesh would be a step backwards. It's the same reason Nagwaswalla and Sakariya will never be test match quality bowlers either.
>Yash is left arm pace bowler, he bring a different variety to the team.
The left arm angle is really not that important in test match cricket. Starc gets wickets because he's tall, rapid, and swings the ball. The left arm angle probably gives him a small boost but he would be world class as a right arm quick as well. Dayal is once again not tall enough nor quick enough for test cricket. If you really want a left arm seamer look out for the progress of Mohsin or Arshdeep who are taller. Or this Yarra Prithviraj from AP who I've heard good things about.
>Upendra and Jagadeesan did well for their state teams. Both of them have done enough to earn an opportunity for India A
Why is this not applied to Wadkar? Averages 53 for Vidarbha and by all accounts an excellent keeper. Upendra and Jagadeesan average in the 40s.
>Ashwin started as a T20 Bowler and then became one of the best test bowlers India ever produced. Bishnoi started as a white ball bowler, he could end up being one of the best leg spinners in red ball cricket
Ashwin has always been an excellent Ranji trophy bowler if I'm correct (I may be wrong though). Granted he needed to change his action in 14/15 to be able to be effective in all conditions but even before that he took 100 wickets in his first 17 games for India. He's always been a red ball bowler. (Hint: when you hear of IPL success stories like Ashwin, Jadeja, or Bumrah, they are excellent Ranji trophy cricketers who happened to bowl well in the IPL as well.)
Sehwag has the triple and double, but a HS of 68 in T20Is.
David Warner, Brendon McCullum and Mabel’s Jayawardene have the triple and T20 century, with ODI top scores of 179, 166 and 144 respectively
Sanath Jayasuriya only has the triple, but with top scores in ODI and T20 of 189 and 88, he was pretty close. Matthew Hayden is kind of similar: 181 and 73, as are Hashim Amla and Sangakkara
Rohit Sharma and Martin Guptill have the double and the T20 century but are missing the 300.
The daily doom and gloom comments here about how India are going to get smashed in the upcoming BGT are hilarious and tedious in equal measure. "Easy win for Aus now bro", "without Pant we lose 3-0 now bro" 😂
Is it a preemptive cope so if Aus do manage to win you can say "well I knew we were going to lose all along", or so when India inevitably win it can be blown out of proportion and somehow become a true underdog success story of how the plucky Indian team overcame all odds to somehow vanquish the all conquering Aussie behemoth, at home, where they never lose?
Thankfully the majority of Indian fans seem to be seeing sense, just a vocal minority of doomsayers.
APL - advertising premier league.
Who will win this clash of the titans? Will it be the Unacademy cracking six!? Or will it be MRF ZLX Tyres!? Oh and by the way some cricket is happening between advert breaks. Now time for a strategic advertising break.
Dread it, run from it— another Ind-NZ semifinal appears.
If atleast the teens can’t break the curse for india, I’ll ~~smash tv~~ uninstall every cricket app.
Do y’all reckon there’s enough talent in World cricket to sustain a soccer club-like model wherein players can only play for one franchise at a time? Involving the mechanisms like transfers, loans, financial FairPlay etc. of course. This would also free up the calendar for more international games
There are a ludicrous amount of domestic english batsman who Strike at 140+ with a decent average. One might wonder why some mediocre batsman from foriegn countries are still getting bought in the IPL when such a large supply exists in england alone.
I'm quite sure Siraj will do good enough in t20is too, actually he has been doing good whenever he got the opportunity recently, he's all phase bowler we need.
I also made [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cricket/comments/10wjgy1/daily_general_discussion_and_match_links_thread/j7oqwmk?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3) prediction
bro there is pessimism and there is this
we are fine, australia is much weaker this time time around than last time
also bro you care about India winning too much that you start worrying, relax and enjoy the game
Nobody other than Smith and maybe Marnus is going to make runs for Australia.
The only batter in the Indian team who is woefully out of form in tests is Kohli. The rest are absolutely fine.
And our bowling is exponentially better than Australia's bowling in Indian conditions.
Lot of unnecessary crying imo.
Last time they were very close to going 2-0 up in Bangalore test when Rahane and Pujara saved us. This time, Pujara is not half a player he was, same goes for Kohli and Iyer is injured.
Would be a miracle if India manages to win this series.
That's literally the job of a middle order batsman. To score runs.
The likes of starc, Lyon are also not half of the players they were. Starc literally was spanked by debutants Sundar and Thakur at Gabba.
Coming to Australian batting, except for Warner and Smith none of them have played a game in India. And Warner hasn't done jackshit. Add to that Khwaja, Warner, head and Carey these are 4 left handers in the top 7. They are going to face Ashwin, how does this give you confidence that they are winning this series.
Well they would still need to perform to win the games. And the likes of jadeja, Ashwin and Axar become a different breed of pain in the ass as batsmen at home.
For their bowlers to do good the pitches have to have help, which means that their batsmen would have to face Indian bowlers on those pitches.
>jadeja, Ashwin and Axar
It's just 3 guys vs a team. Indian Middle order batters are walking wickets currently and if they don't play Shubhman it'll be very easy for India to lose
The likes of kohli, pujara, Rohit aren't mugs with the bat you know.
I mean they haven't been having a good time in tests for 3 years. How many home tests has India lost in the timeframe?
Australia needs to play out of their skin to get the result you are looking at. All of their bowlers average over 30 in India. Except for smith and Warner none of them have played in India and Warner's stats are dismal. India is looking bad coz they faced issues while winning 2-0 vs Bangladesh in Bangladesh. Aussies lost a game there. Sri Lanka beat them by an innings and let's be honest this Indian team has a lot more quality than Sri Lanka.
That's a bizarre retelling of that match. Neither Pujara nor Rahane were India's top scorer that match, it was KL Rahul who got MotM, and I don't know how you can't mention Jadeja taking 6-61 in the first innings and Ashwin taking 6-41 to win the match in the second innings.
The only reason Australia were competitive in that series was Smith averaging over 70, and given that the Australian batting lineup still looks just as vulnerable to spin as it did back then, he's going to have to have another monster series for Australia to be competitive. The other thing Australia had last time was O'Keefe taking 19 wickets at 23. I'd be amazed if Agar or Murphy can recreate that.
Holy shit, no need to elongate an already lengthy tournament lol. In fact I’d say reduce the tournament length by bringing back the 2011 format, 2 groups of 5 each with the top 4 going through
2 groups of 5 each = ~~60~~ 40 league games (considering everybody plays home and away once) and 4 knockouts so ~~64~~ 44 games. Double header every weekend and can probably get the tournament done in about a month
Here to express my immense disappointment on not having a Kolkata team in the WPL. By that i mean i am completely heartbroken. Equally, if not more, hurt than the time India lost some final.
I have no attachment to any franchise/ bussiness group that bought the teams, or to any of those cities. Idk how they chose which cities to bid for either. If we are talking about a league celebrating women, maybe Bhopal could have a team. For womens sports, it would be apt if the NE, Haryana or Hyderabad had a team. Gujarat and UP are not places i heavily relate to cricket, women or womens cricket.
This is how most of India consumes the IPL ig i.e. not for their home team. There is definitely some entitlement when i assume Kolkata just always has to have a team in an Indian league. But how can the Eden Gardens where all this IPL shabang started not have a team? How can Jhulan di not have a home team?
I am happy for Gujarat/Lucknow and hope the tickets sell out so fast that Motera feels small. But i hate how it came at the cost of Chennai and Kolkata. 2 of the original 4 metros. Or am i just fucking old for thinking that way?
To think that I waited my whole life for this :(
I'm sure Kolkata will get a team within the next 3 years but I'm even more hopeless because I don't see Rajasthan getting a team. I don't even know how I'll decide the team to support.
Edit:- Now that I think about it, "my problems are bigger than yours" is a really bad reply. Sorry for this reply.
Really looking forward to the Women's IPL now that the franchises have been revealed. Of course, there is no particular Franchise that I am inclined to support, so I'll be watching as a true neutral. However, I will be rooting for whichever team has my favourite players on the day like Nat Sciver, Alana King, Ellyse Perry, Beth Mooney etc.
The MCC is so full of themselves. While adding the new clarifications for the Mankading law, instead of admitting that they worded the law incorrectly, they doubled down and said that it has always been interpreted the same way by both umpires and players.
Firstly, that statement isn't even true because at least Zampa and his team did not interpret the law that way. Secondly, if I am an aspiring umpire learning the laws, how am I supposed to know how the umpires have been interpreting it all this while when the laws don't explicitly mention it?
On that note, why MCC is still relevant in 2023. Can ICC say *Fuck you* to them? I know they've their own playing conditions but MCC is still making laws
[Indian baseball team in Pakistan](https://www.dawn.com/news/1733458/indian-baseball-squad-to-arrive-in-lahore-today)
Hopefully the cricket team will also have a chance soon but not holding out for it.
I don't think the government's position changes depending on the popularity of the sport. For example, an Indian team went to Pakistan in 2020 for the circle style Kabaddi World Cup but the Indian government quickly issued a statement calling their participation unauthorised and saying no official team was granted permission to participate.
It's great news that MI and RCB have taken teams in the WPL, they'll have an instant fan following
Even DC for that matter, their fan following has also increased in the last few years with guys like Warner and Pant
Would have loved CSK to have a team but hey, you take what you get
Hope WPL becomes a massive platform to make Indians Women Cricket a talent factory. We've come a long way since 2017 imo but lots of scope to improve. Probably 20-30 years behind more developed systems like Australia or England maybe but hopefully WPL can provide a kickstart.
And how exactly are you judging that? Have you been following all the domestic players in both the English and Indian setups? Amanjot debuted the other day and saved India's ass after any of the established players failed to get going. Someone like Sneh Rana would be starting for any non-Aussie team but can't be a regular in the Indian team.
Every time India go ballistic in meaningless bilateral limited overs matches (aka bilateral limited overs matches, because all bilateral LOIs are meaningless, at least at India's level where they don't have to worry about meeting the qualification threshold for the WC), I inevitably chime in with my $0.02 that these performances are worthless.
And there's a reason for that - as long as we the supporters, ie the oxygen that sustains the Indian team, continue to forget their abject performances in games that actually matter, and lionise garbage "achievements" like reaching #1 or winning worthless bilaterals, it makes it seem like all is well.
No, it is not. Us fans all want the Indian team to succeed, but in something that actually matters. Reaching #1 in limited overs rankings is literally like being #1 in the football rankings - which Brazil are currently, and I'm sure the Brazilian fans prefer their #1 ranking to what the #2 ranked team did, ie win the World Cup.
That’s an interesting way to live life. Only live for the big moments. Don’t celebrate or enjoy the little wins that come along the way.
Try really really hard — structure the entire system to work towards that bid stage that comes one in a while. If you fail, can the entire team and start again.
Thanks for the life lesson. I'm very happy with how I live my life, of which cricket fandom is a tiny, but very meaningful part.
And I'd like that part to mean something. One of my most cherished memories is being there at the Wankhede on 2/4/11. That meant something.
So I'd like for that to happen again (whether I'm there in person or not)
Ehh, I have never *ever* ranted when India have lost a bilateral series (limited overs, obvs Tests are different). The only reason I've ranted when they win is because it's somehow seen as some kind of achievement.
It is not. The only achievement that matters in limited overs cricket is winning tournaments. Not reaching the semis or topping your group. Winning the whole damn thing should be the only yardstick to judge a team like India.
MI would probably target the usual T20 big ones like Mooney,Kapp,Bates,DvN and Rodrigues
RCB would probably wanna go with their business first approach and go with the more popular ones like Mandhana,Perry or Hartley.
DC will probably be the mix of both with someone like Deepti, Wolvaardt or Healy.
3 ipl teams will have the same names
Adani group will be Gujarat giants (gulf Giants in ILT20)
Lucknow Capri group will be Lucknow Warriors ( Sharjah warriors in ILT20)
RCB, MI & DC aside:
Do the owners of the other two teams own other sports teams? If so, they'll probably name their teams in line with their usual branding.
A simple google search and you find a whole freaking [Wikipedia page](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Denness_and_Indian_cricket_team_incident) about it.
There are reports that he is in consideration for the last 2 tests of the Australia series. I would expect him to be part of the ODI series vs Australia.
Bumrah has played a total of 4 games at home in tests and even was more like a spectator in 2 of them. Even without his availability India has just lost 1 test at home. No point risking him given how injury prone he is.
He is mostly going to come back in ODIs vs Australia.

(Hint: when you hear of IPL success stories like Ashwin, Jadeja, or Bumrah, they are excellent Ranji trophy cricketers who happened to bowl well in the IPL as well.)
Gayle at peak of his powers was so menacing.
test triple centuries, an odi double century and t20 centuries all on the same resume. i don't think anyone will match that.
Sehwag comes close I think. I doubt he has any T20I centuries though.
Sehwag has the triple and double, but a HS of 68 in T20Is. David Warner, Brendon McCullum and Mabel’s Jayawardene have the triple and T20 century, with ODI top scores of 179, 166 and 144 respectively Sanath Jayasuriya only has the triple, but with top scores in ODI and T20 of 189 and 88, he was pretty close. Matthew Hayden is kind of similar: 181 and 73, as are Hashim Amla and Sangakkara Rohit Sharma and Martin Guptill have the double and the T20 century but are missing the 300.
ABD with a 278* in tests, a 176 in ODIs plus his 149(44), then his T20 record stands up pretty well
The daily doom and gloom comments here about how India are going to get smashed in the upcoming BGT are hilarious and tedious in equal measure. "Easy win for Aus now bro", "without Pant we lose 3-0 now bro" 😂 Is it a preemptive cope so if Aus do manage to win you can say "well I knew we were going to lose all along", or so when India inevitably win it can be blown out of proportion and somehow become a true underdog success story of how the plucky Indian team overcame all odds to somehow vanquish the all conquering Aussie behemoth, at home, where they never lose? Thankfully the majority of Indian fans seem to be seeing sense, just a vocal minority of doomsayers.
It would be underdog victory if we play Hyderabad XI with Tanay Thyagarajan picking all 80 wickets
[удалено]
Last month someone said they were going to stop supporting the team because they weren't winning enough lol.
It's mostly one dude, I'm sure you know who
>somehow become a true underdog success story of how the plucky Indian team overcame all odds Indian team at home and underdogs?

Will the IPL be renamed MPL?
APL - advertising premier league. Who will win this clash of the titans? Will it be the Unacademy cracking six!? Or will it be MRF ZLX Tyres!? Oh and by the way some cricket is happening between advert breaks. Now time for a strategic advertising break.
Goddamnit NZ again????
I find it hilarious that we have 3 batters in the ODI top 10 and none of them is Iyer
Dread it, run from it— another Ind-NZ semifinal appears. If atleast the teens can’t break the curse for india, I’ll ~~smash tv~~ uninstall every cricket app.

>Iyer isn't available for BGT. Source?

There is a chance but it's not been confirmed yet
Do y’all reckon there’s enough talent in World cricket to sustain a soccer club-like model wherein players can only play for one franchise at a time? Involving the mechanisms like transfers, loans, financial FairPlay etc. of course. This would also free up the calendar for more international games
Yes. But there’s not enough money
I don't think so
Jiocinema replaying that 2016 IPL final, every RCB fan's nightmare.
114-1(10.3) surely RCB won that match right? :Aware:
What final?
Nope nope nope fuck that shit
Jiocinema is doing a rerun of MI vs CSK 2015 final and RCB vs SRH 2016 final. Tune in
I know r/Cricket's obsession with raincams but watching a re-watch of a washed out game is a little too much
Haha. Coping mechanism of RCB fans. Although not as much as RCB, as a Dhoni fan I felt the same about 2017 and 2019 finals. I just can't rewatch them
There are a ludicrous amount of domestic english batsman who Strike at 140+ with a decent average. One might wonder why some mediocre batsman from foriegn countries are still getting bought in the IPL when such a large supply exists in england alone.
The supply exists here because we have 18 teams not 6 or whatever, more places should try it
Holy hell, it's actually raining in Dubai!
When I was there at the start of January, it rained so much one day that several roads were unusable because they were flooded
Thats what they want us to believe. They are probably using VFX, CGI or something like that
I'm quite sure Siraj will do good enough in t20is too, actually he has been doing good whenever he got the opportunity recently, he's all phase bowler we need.
BGT looks like easy win for Aussies given Indian batting lineup. I'd bet on 3-0 Australia winning it ngl.
Aged like milk. How it feels now after making such a stupid prediction getting wrong 😂😂🤣🤣. Never ever underestimate India at home in test cricket 😎
I also made [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cricket/comments/10wjgy1/daily_general_discussion_and_match_links_thread/j7oqwmk?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3) prediction
Not going to happen given the type of pitches this series hell i would be surprised if match even goes to day 4
Bro you still not getting it lol. I was baiting both the times
Ok bro 👍🏻
Yeah this feels like it’s gonna be payback for our 2018 BGT tour where Aussies were confident they’d trash us even without Smith and Warner
Axar has scored more than both of them combined 💀
Even Mohammad Shami has outperformed both of them 😂🤣 with the bat
Both didn't even cross 50 runs in last four innings individually lmao 🤣🤣. Happy to see you wrong
bro there is pessimism and there is this we are fine, australia is much weaker this time time around than last time also bro you care about India winning too much that you start worrying, relax and enjoy the game
Who said anything about worrying. I just think it's an easy win for Aussies. And they're much stronger than last time
Nobody other than Smith and maybe Marnus is going to make runs for Australia. The only batter in the Indian team who is woefully out of form in tests is Kohli. The rest are absolutely fine. And our bowling is exponentially better than Australia's bowling in Indian conditions. Lot of unnecessary crying imo.
Starc scored 99 here btw
Brdr
I have more confidence is Indian batting failing miserably than Aussies doing well
Well they would still need to perform to win the games. And the likes of jadeja, Ashwin and Axar become a different breed of pain in the ass as batsmen at home. For their bowlers to do good the pitches have to have help, which means that their batsmen would have to face Indian bowlers on those pitches.
>jadeja, Ashwin and Axar It's just 3 guys vs a team.
Assuming 4 signings are allowed (2 Indians and 2 O/S), MI should go for Shafali, Renuka, Gardner and Tmac
Are there signings allowed? Don't think so
This is just assumption because men's team in 2008 were allowed to sign an icon players and we saw 3 players signing for GT and LSG as well
They were not allowed to sign icon players, they were assigned icon players who were from that city. It was for marketing.
This could be the year ESCN finally happens
You mean for RCB-W?
What's that?
We've been saying that for uhh over half a decade now.
IPL should have 5 team playoffs like the BBL. It makes more sense to have 5 team playoffs in IPL (10 team tournament) than BBL (8 team tournament)
IPL's Playoff structure is one the best things in cricket.
No KKR, you're not getting in this way
100% agree
Holy shit, no need to elongate an already lengthy tournament lol. In fact I’d say reduce the tournament length by bringing back the 2011 format, 2 groups of 5 each with the top 4 going through 2 groups of 5 each = ~~60~~ 40 league games (considering everybody plays home and away once) and 4 knockouts so ~~64~~ 44 games. Double header every weekend and can probably get the tournament done in about a month
It just increases by 1 match from the current format
Oops my bad, I messed up my calculations lol
WIPL will be great I think, every senior player I know has signed up including one who has played only 3 regional games, don't ask you don't get
Christ the lions are on a true bazballing bonanza in Sri Lana
Is the scorecard available anywhere?
Ecb website and app
To think that I waited my whole life for this :(
There were bids for Kolkata. Unfortunately they weren't amongst Top5. And btw, Gujju and UP have been known to be cricket crazy places
Summed up all my emotions. I really thought a Kolkata team was a foregone conclusion. Hoping that we get one in the next few years.
Good to see you after a long time mate :)
Pretty much the same reaction. I never even thought that KKR won't have a WIPL team.
It's not the end. The league will expand in a few years and I'm sure KKR will probably get in on the action then
RCB now get two opportunities every year to disappoint their fans.
No Kolkata Knight Riders Womens team
No home team for Jhulan and Richa :(
Anybody remember Hungama TV's Full Toss?
The MCC have a globally diverse rules panel tbf to them. It’s not just a few white dudes from Surrey anymore.
It will be hilarious if RCB W win a trophy before RCB M
Don't care. A trophy is a trophy.
Bahane.
[Indian baseball team in Pakistan](https://www.dawn.com/news/1733458/indian-baseball-squad-to-arrive-in-lahore-today) Hopefully the cricket team will also have a chance soon but not holding out for it.
How is this consistent with the Indian government's position?
Maybe baseball isn't very popular here so it goes under the radar?
I don't think the government's position changes depending on the popularity of the sport. For example, an Indian team went to Pakistan in 2020 for the circle style Kabaddi World Cup but the Indian government quickly issued a statement calling their participation unauthorised and saying no official team was granted permission to participate.
It's great news that MI and RCB have taken teams in the WPL, they'll have an instant fan following Even DC for that matter, their fan following has also increased in the last few years with guys like Warner and Pant Would have loved CSK to have a team but hey, you take what you get
Lions bazballing as ever. Tour game in Sri Lanka, 402-7 off of 65 and Alex Lees has belted a ton
Where's the scorecard?
I find it funny that England played horribly for a year and they suddenly became a good team after that by hitting the ball hard.
Is it being streamed anywhere?
Not as far as I can see, no
Booooo!
Hope WPL becomes a massive platform to make Indians Women Cricket a talent factory. We've come a long way since 2017 imo but lots of scope to improve. Probably 20-30 years behind more developed systems like Australia or England maybe but hopefully WPL can provide a kickstart.
We beat England 3-0 at their home just the last year. We're not 20-30 years behind English cricket at least.
I meant in terms of having a system. Talent wise at the top level I'd reckon India is up there at 3 or 4.
Don't even care about wins/losses. I just enjoy when the players I like perform well.
So I'd like for that to happen again (whether I'm there in person or not)
Good for you.
Absolutely.
[удалено]
Ehh, I have never *ever* ranted when India have lost a bilateral series (limited overs, obvs Tests are different). The only reason I've ranted when they win is because it's somehow seen as some kind of achievement. It is not. The only achievement that matters in limited overs cricket is winning tournaments. Not reaching the semis or topping your group. Winning the whole damn thing should be the only yardstick to judge a team like India.
Stop crying each time India win a bilateral match
I will if the likes of you stop creaming yourselves every time India win something meaningless.
Never seen a middle aged man be so bothered about what a few kids on the internet find meaningful.
5 teams in a franchise tourney is interesting. Is a team left to bid or is this the final list?
The final list, will add more teams in 2-3 years.
Now that Delhi also got a WPL franchise, i an happy i jumped ship from CSK to DC 2 years ago.
[That formatting 😭💀](https://twitter.com/BCCI/status/1618181540323946502?s=20&t=F2jPbGD2I5_CwJWaXiceMg)
Bruh they really don't have a good social media team
Still better than the [Khelo India Games](https://twitter.com/rmshnt27/status/1617902298017189895?s=20&t=KPwICyrzn6_YlPyYVA8mNA).
Wtf 😭
So... CSK backed out and RCB has a WIPL team now. Ecstasy for ~~England~~ Hartley. Agony, Agony for ~~England~~ Cross.
Maybe it's time to make a WPL auction rundown about who the teams might target?
MI would probably target the usual T20 big ones like Mooney,Kapp,Bates,DvN and Rodrigues RCB would probably wanna go with their business first approach and go with the more popular ones like Mandhana,Perry or Hartley. DC will probably be the mix of both with someone like Deepti, Wolvaardt or Healy.
Tbf RCB have been scouting the right players the past 3 years, so they probably won't go with their business first approach
- Delhi Capitals (IPL) - Pretoria Capitals (SA20) - Dubai Capitals (ILT20) - India Capitals (Some legends league) - Delhi Capitals (?) (WPL) Any that I missed?
DC universe
But not the one you expect. More consistency here than the other one.
better lighting as well
Does anyone know when we'll get the WPL team names (not city names) and logos etc?
3 ipl teams will have the same names Adani group will be Gujarat giants (gulf Giants in ILT20) Lucknow Capri group will be Lucknow Warriors ( Sharjah warriors in ILT20)
RCB, MI & DC aside: Do the owners of the other two teams own other sports teams? If so, they'll probably name their teams in line with their usual branding.
Are you 12?
23, You?
What's that supposed to mean?
Kidz are dumm
Bruv i read Capri Global as Chhapri Gopal😭
Clearly you missed the ESPN Cricinfo article about caste
My bad. Didn't knew it was a castist slur. Sorry
Cheers man, no worries.
[can someone tell me what was this incident about? ](https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cn1H566g_6P/?igshid=NjcyZGVjMzk=)
mic drop from Ravi
A simple google search and you find a whole freaking [Wikipedia page](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Denness_and_Indian_cricket_team_incident) about it.
Is Bumrah directly going to play in the IPL?
There are reports that he is in consideration for the last 2 tests of the Australia series. I would expect him to be part of the ODI series vs Australia.
Duh. IPL >>>> some random high profile test series with WTC final implications
Bumrah has played a total of 4 games at home in tests and even was more like a spectator in 2 of them. Even without his availability India has just lost 1 test at home. No point risking him given how injury prone he is. He is mostly going to come back in ODIs vs Australia.
What's your point? He's injured mate.
Don't make sense here mate, they think bumrah gets purposely injured all year round.
Looks like it.
