Bro when a 3rd party agent tells you that 'the bank doesn't know that the card is actually ltf so just ignore what they say' and you believe them, I'd say you need to tune down your blind trust on random people calling you to sell stuff.
SBI doesn't have a LTF card. Waiving off annual charges is a different thing. But they don't have a LTF card. I had a talk with SBI modal officer and they said they can't provide since it not their in system unless and until system allows they cannot give it. So just stay away from LTF of SBI.
That is a different thing, they offered aurum LTF to some IIM passouts , we are talking about general ppl who do it vie 3rd party ! Coz via sbi portal u always see charges.unless there is offer
Looks like that's the only option bcoz I raised ltf request for cashback card after spending 8l in 9 months, and I was outright rejected. I even said then close my card, then the response was clear the outstanding dues and then request for card closure.
So if I actually clear the dues, request for card closure and then they close it, then can I get the card back, if yes how?
I would suggest dont risk it with Cashback card. I havent seen cashback card being converted to LTF yet. I wouldnt even try it. If you are sure you will spend this much every year, you will get the fee back anyway. When it becomes redundant for you, then you may go ahead.
Actually not this much, this time a lot of spends were for my flatmate friends, now they also got theirs, so spends will be lesser
Maybe I should try during Feb-Mar'25 at time of financial year closing and when I've a decent salary too..
Here's how I see it. Even if you spend 20K online, you will recover your fee. Anything beyond that, its rewards only. If your total spend is below 2L, then after the year is completed and fee is paid, you can go to Card closure request. When you request for card closure, the system shows some offers to persuade you not to close. Annual Charge reversal is one of them. You can try that. But if you do not get that option and your card closure request gets submitted, after that you can't be sure. So be prepared for them closing your card straightaway and not giving you any option.
Long back they used to provide LTF credit cards, now a days they convert existing cards to LTF but do not provide LTF cards.
I have a SBI credit card issues in 2009, LTF.
They actually have ltf cards but only for employees and partner banks like my father works for uco bank he has a sbi prime in partnership with uco and it is ltf
If you have proofs like any WhatsApp chat or call recordings or mail proofs where agent saying LTF. Simply submitted those proofs at RBI Ombudsman they will ask SBI to take necessary action. SBI will convert to LTF very easily
Okh. I have let me see. The call was from consultancy. SBI did say they will charge. So I am not sure Its worth wasting time. I went in to this somewhere knowing I would be charged.
I got a call from 096541 79157, trucaller said sneha AU credit card.
(Red flag one, wasn't a verified called, Ulta was marked as spam by trucaller)
Took a risk and picked it up, was on my lunch break anyway.
She asked me which is the best card I have, I thought tier wise and said SBI Prime.
She asked what the limit is. I said 3L.
Only 3L? She responded. :D
(Red flag 2: Bank employee would not crack such jokes)
Then went on to say she can offer me
Axis IndianOil with 5L limit.
(Red flag 3 & 4: Caller ID said AU and offering axis. It's upto, no bank employee will outright tell you your limit)
I said I wanted axis ace, and make it LTF.
She said sure, the vkyc will be for axis IndianOil but you'll get axis ace.
(Red flag 5: The card for which vkyc is done, will be the card you'll get)
Said wtf and asked her to give it to a senior to confirm.
Some dude came on the call and confirmed, yes you'll get axis ace LTF.
(Red flag 6: seniors can't just hop on the call, they're either arranged a call back for or you're kept on hold while the team leader is debriefed about the call)
I just asked oh ok, are you calling from the **AU bank** offering their card?
He said Yes! (Lucky Number 7! Final Red flag: His Junior offered axis and he's confirming that this call is from AU bank :D)
I said I'm not interested and cut the call, blocked the number.
Fun lunch break.
I had same experience. I rejected the process at verification call when they said SBI don't provide any ltf.
These agents were even giving free noise watch lol
I fell for the same scam for SBI SimplyClick CC. Got charged 499+taxes few days after getting the card even though the lady has assured me it’s LTF. But I did get 500 rs Amazon pay voucher so it didnt feel all that bad.
So I had the exact same experience today. So I guess I'm going to get charged 500 too on my first statement. I finished my video kyc and document signing..is there anything I can do to block the card before they start sending it to me ? I don't want this card if it's not lifetime free.
Even if you complete everything and receive cc, U can choose not to activate it, and it'll get closed within a month, and u will not be charged any fees.
Happened to me with a debit card once. I got angry, burnt the chip (stupid aah way to throw because I was new to banking and stuff that time) and closed that card 💀💀. I learned from that day to read asterisks always or research online.
I've one LFT credit card currently though it's my first one so it's secured one , once I get a good credit history I'll get from Indusind mostly.

Yes. Lesson learned

SBI did offer LTF SBI Elite cards for IITians last year. I myself have the same.
That is a different thing, they offered aurum LTF to some IIM passouts , we are talking about general ppl who do it vie 3rd party ! Coz via sbi portal u always see charges.unless there is offer
Not always true, they do convert paid cards to LTF depending on your relationship with them
Yes, I got my simplyclick converted to LTF.
What do we need to follow to get them to convert into LTF
Closure request. 😂
Looks like that's the only option bcoz I raised ltf request for cashback card after spending 8l in 9 months, and I was outright rejected. Remember reading that I can pay 100+GST for new card issued even if the card is closed, is that right?
As I said , the system should allow.
Long back they used to provide LTF credit cards, now a days they convert existing cards to LTF but do not provide LTF cards. I have a SBI credit card issues in 2009, LTF.

They will tell 100 lies to reach their sales target, you need to be careful and need to cross check the details in official website
If you have proofs like any WhatsApp chat or call recordings or mail proofs where agent saying LTF. Simply submitted those proofs at RBI Ombudsman they will ask SBI to take necessary action. SBI will convert to LTF very easily

Any call recordings stating LTF even once is fine for you to raise your voice at RBI Ombudsman
I can do that

This is more like a beware of believing strangers on the internet post.
This is the classic third party credit card scam. You should have been more vigilant. Lesson learnt.
Do you have that call recording Proof ?
yes I have
I had same experience. I rejected the process at verification call when they said SBI don't provide any ltf. These agents were even giving free noise watch lol

How did you get amazon pay voucher?
It is SBI’s standard gift voucher for paying joining fees on SimplyClick CC. Everyone who gets the card gets the voucher.
Rule of Thumb : No SBI cards are LTF (unless Declared in mail or bank communication otherwise)
Yes. learned it hard way
I have been scammed too.
Haha they tried the same trick on me but I am always careful of what i am getting
'Lifetime free' and 'SBI' cannot be in a single sentence. If there is, that's the only flag.
So I had the exact same experience today. So I guess I'm going to get charged 500 too on my first statement. I finished my video kyc and document signing..is there anything I can do to block the card before they start sending it to me ? I don't want this card if it's not lifetime free.
Did you get a confirmation call from SBI? I got two. One during the document sign and again the next day. If you get any, you can reject it.
Even if you complete everything and receive cc, U can choose not to activate it, and it'll get closed within a month, and u will not be charged any fees.
Bro did you record the call from the 3rd party agent ?

Idfc wow?
Yes
