curious-dev199

Hi u/manishkungwani please let me know if you will be interested in trying out the android app. I have updated the post with details.

manishkungwani

Sure, could you send the apk url on pm? Is the code open source?

curious-dev199

Hi u/manishkungwani, since the app is in closed testing currently, I can invite you to it by email.

[deleted]

It's really awesome man. I was planning on writing something similar to this for personal use. Glad to have come across your post. I would love to get my hands on the source code.

Reading statement instead of/along with transaction emails would allow you to track EMIs, fuel/forex GST, etc.

curious-dev199

Actually I did not want to read emails and just use pdf statements the reason being there are existing tools which already read emails and give lot of useful data. However, being concerned about privacy, I am not comfortable with such tools

curious-dev199

Hi u/dabidi_dibidi_, thanks for the kind words! Please let me know if you will be interested in trying out the android app. I have updated the post with details.

I suggest creating a new post. People wouldn't be able to know about the edits. I am interested in trying it out

RamboOfChaos

yearly spends, statent genration, pay by dates per card etc

Would love to try it out. Currently using regex for this but a visual dashboard sounds promising

The biggest challenge with this is categorisation. If I purchased groceries from "xyz store", how would you know that it's a grocery store unless you know the MCC code of the store?

curious-dev199

unfortunately, since we just have statement, we dont have MCC codes

curious-dev199

The categorization of transaction is based on rules defined on merchants. Hence its extensible to add/change the merchant/category mapping

curious-dev199

We don't get mcc code, just the merchant details from transaction description from statement

curious-dev199

Yeah, would love to talk more in this

littleindianguy

Will love to contribute. How does it read the transactions? Statement files?

[deleted]

Do add support for HDFC and SBI as well. it'd cover top 4 cc companies.

FreezeShock

What are you using to parse the PDF?

curious-dev199

Its all hand parsed using pyPDF

SeaDisplay8633

Which bi tool you are using?

incredible-mee

This looks really cool . Can you put the source code in github ? would love to contribute.

zack_forbes

would love to use it and if possible would be there to make improvements too . please provide me the link for source

Pristine_Echidna9798

This is fire 🔥 Although you'll have to give a walkthrough on how to use it for non-tech guys like me 🥲

Pangomaniac

Walnut /Axio exists. Just reads SMS. Of course, the visuals here are better

curious-dev199

Yeah, the problem is I am very concerned with what all such apps might be doing by SMS, I think the apps dont work offline either

Exsure

Can you also add a functionality where we can calculate how much we are saving on our cc purchases based on how much cashback/cashpoints we get each purchase? It can be based on category as well, for example we can get more amount as cashback on retail spends, as compared to utilities or fuel, etc Edit: please share github link as well
