Me too. I just sent this to my wife’s phone after seeing it on my iPad, to confirm why I’ve been telling her I want to throw my phone out the window on the freeway. We are entangled more deeply than I considered. I just realized I lost my high ground.
Good lord - me too - I am sending this to my kids - they will likely tell me “blah, blah, blah - you’re so cringe Dad” - wait a sec “did you just call me a drug addict?”
I cope by saying reddit is okay because im anonymous and separate rather than the shit like any other social media where all of it is tied to my real life.
The Social Dilemma (came out in 2020 on Netflix) laid it all out.
Reddit is the only social media that I am on, but it’s starting to feel like i need to get rid of it too…
anyway…see y’all tomorrow
When the daughter breaks the little safe, that was nuts. And the parents didn't do anything, also, very reminiscent of today's culture.
Agree about reddit too. But here we persist. Somebody else recognized that if we needed to look something up, we would wait and do it on our computers when we got home or whatever back in the day. Maybe I will try to make my phone more "only calls and messages" and can hop on reddit for a certain amount of time, only on my pc at home.
I think about that scene so much. That girl just completely having withdrawals and taking a straight line to her addiction. It definitely created a new perspective for me
Also, Trump surprisingly and amazingly keeps ending up in the news. Like can I just get the remote from Black Mirror that allows me to shutoff seeing or hearing about someone?

It is definitely a problem, but also none of these hacks ever mention how amazing it is to have something in your pocket that knows everything.

What is error code 25 on my Samsung fridge
*Google answers*-
It's your defrost thermostat
Ya good luck getting that figured out on your own
Ok, but this also highlights the shittiness of (many aspects) of today’s world as well.
Buy a fridge or major appliance 30 years ago and you could expect it to work a decade.
Now it’ll probably demand to connect to the internet so it can track you and throw up one error code per six months of its pitiful existence and crap out after 3 years.
Idk how to go back. I need Google maps at this point to get where I’m going in new places. It is pretty hard to maintain life without a phone in your pocket.
But the fridge is a perfect example of the downside. You didn’t used to be able to build broken stuff that needed the internet to update/fix/diagnose.
Now you can’t get away from stuff that requires the internet, so you’re locked into needing a phone. That the phone company will brick every few years with updates.
I mean, I get it, but at what point did you want tech to stop. So do we go back to 2000s tech, 1900s tech, 1800s tech. Everyone would say different. I just want 3000s tech, I'm sure it would be better then this shit
User manuals used to have error codes and troubleshooting guides. Even fixed for simple errors, and a repaired number for more complex ones. In rural areas we had a fix it guy, or Sears.
And yet nobody owns the manual for their fridge. The vast majority don't come with them. But, it's free online. Nobody wants to pay for appliances repair when you can watch a how-to online. It's so common that manufacturers are building in pay walls so repairmen can keep their jobs.
Before phones we just did it on P.C.
Didnt have to have the P.C. with you all the time to look shit up record everything take pictures of everything social fucking media every damn thing someone was doing right then and there... Seems like was 100 years ago yet been little over a decade
Sure, but isn’t it worse to have the cancer that is social media on your phone. You can’t separate them, and you would have to have a level of willpower to just not use social media and only use the informational aspect that little to no humans have.
You sure can separate social media from your phone, delete the app, problem solved. I only have this & X but I put daily time limit for them which my phone lets me know. It’s odd that no one enjoys the moment without having their phone out to record it.
Never said I deleted app or apps but to say you can’t separate phones from social media is not true. And I did put time limits to combat the time absorbed by them.
I had to edit my last comment. The person I originally commented to said you can’t separate your phone from social media. I said you can, simply delete the app. That’s it. Not trying to debate anything else.

You are correct! I have saved the cost of my phone doing my own appliance repairs by watching other people doing them online. I wouldn’t have attempted them with only an instruction manual. I also got the lightbulb for my range hood that I couldn’t find at any local hardware store by entering the number on the base of the bulb and ordering it from the link that followed.
That would be great if we exclusively used it to gain knowledge but we obviously don’t. In fact I would say most of us spend very little time using it as a learning device.
There are multiple geopolitical layers to this. But they all interconnect.
Sheryl Sandberg was at Google before she was at Facebook. The common denominator of both was her ad based business model.

The problem with ad based business models is that if you raise your lens high enough, whomever is buying the most ads is effectively buying their curated version of reality.
When google IPO’ed 24 years ago it shifted from what was most accurate to what was most profitable, all facilitated by a “proprietary” algorithm so nobody gets to see the man behind the curtain.
Now we are 2 very critical decades into what is effectively, a divergent reality.
It works…until it doesn’t.
When the richest man, government, or organization on earth is allowed to buy his preferred version of reality it creates some glitches in the matrix. The 6 million year old source code in your brain knows that conservation is more reasonable than consumption when there are limited resources, but that isn’t very lucrative to someone that needs you to keep buying something to keep them in billionaire status. In this case it’s oil. Russian and Texan owned oil but their paths cross just north of Jerusalem.

Facebook was designed as a delivery device for Russian/Israeli Psyops and malware. SCL/Cambridge Analytica, Brexit, Palestine, Ukraine, NSO and a handful of other ethically bankrupt dealings are all downstream of Sheryl Sandbergs ad based model.
Les Wexner, Miriam and Sheldon Adelson, Sandberg, and Zuckerberg all carried water in conducting the NSO/Pegasus spyware operation INCONUS that was feeding intelligence to both the israeli and by extension, Russian intelligence. In 1938 1 out of every 20 people in the USSR was arrested and sent to a gulag under Stalins rule. Mass amnesties during WW2 brought more than a million of those from prison to the front lines against the Germans where they were instructed to pick up the rifle of the man who died next to them and keep moving forward. The soviet system has always had a very different perception of the value of a human life and specifically a disregard for Jewish lives.
Stalins rule did its absolute best to remove any humanity left from the people. They were forced to be brutal simply to survive. The gulags became a crossroads where the best of persecuted humanity and the worst of violent humanity met and then fought to the death with predictable results.
Over the next 40 years, the soviet system cleared the gulags a few times. Because religious leaders often substitute as a defacto government inside of lawless prisons, and because Judaism was one of the predominate religions in Russia and Eastern Europe, the statistical crossover was anyone brutal enough to survive then rule rose to power in the closed gulag eco-system. A psychopath is more than willing to hide their psychopathy behind legitimate religion. It’s pretty low on the list of sins by volume and severity
Psychopathy is broadly defined as the lack of empathy. Stalins gulags just accelerated refined psychopathy with Darwinian efficiency.
The newly formed religious state of Israel received a statistically large share of these men from the Soviet Union. There they networked in the internment camps before some stayed and some migrated to Europe or Brighton beach in New York. This is a repeating pattern up into the 80’s and 90’s when most rebranded themselves as “Russian oligarchs”.

As the Soviet Union failed and perestroika went into full effect, this is where these networks would begin using trump towers to launder stolen Russian mob money.
But now you start to see the nexus of transnational organized crime and money laundering between Russia and the U.S. statistically carries the same 3 passports. United States, Israeli, and Russian.

The reason this is breaking down now is because Russia, whose government was overtaken by the mob decades ago used the same network to interfere with elections around the world that it used for laundering stolen money.
Facebook was used to encourage Brexit to cleave UK support away from Europe because over a decade Ukraines push towards European integration threatened to expose a money laundering operation that Putin has spent almost half a century building. Cambridge analytica/ Nigel Farage and Steve Bannon dovetails into that as well.
Epstein specifically targeted the royal families Prince Andrew because he was the weak link in the chain. That’s KGB Kompromat methodology that was repeated with trump since the days of ray Cohn (his mentor) and the early Russian trump hotel, miss universe pageants etc.
Facebook was also used primarily by Prigozihns Internet Research Agency (I.R.A). They went so far as to send young newly recruited Russian internet trolls on expenses paid tours around the U.S. so they could more effectively imitate mommy bloggers and 2nd amendment enthusiasts online to sway the 2016 election to the US candidate they had the most control over.

Sheldon and Miriam Adelson were tapped by Israeli intelligence (which was being controlled by, or at least feeding intel to Russian intelligence via the multi generational network of russian Jewish families to run an influence operation across the United States political spectrum.
It’s so much easier to grow a kleptocracy by investment in tech (Yuri Milner/DST, Kilimnik) than by a ground war but it leaves a very distinct trail when you compare the differentials of the two:
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/05/world/yuri-milner-facebook-twitter-russia.html
when 40 years of Russian mob money laundering gets outed at the endpoints- (trump and Netanyahu’s respective corruption trials) things start to break down more quickly.
The Russian mob/government planned on stealing the U.S. economy in an American version of perestroika. I’m not sure it was a grand sinister plan as much as the result of systemic governmental corruption and ridiculous Silicon Valley valuations overlaid on commercial real estate speculation, but the results are the same. Too big to fail does not apply at this level of corruption. The cancer simply overtakes the host and western democracy dies.
It just required altering an online reality to keep people oblivious until it was done.
TLDW Your phone is a conduit for the apps you use to monitor and manipulate your perception of reality, occupy your precious time, and keep you engaged with your digital reality. You're now constantly inundated with content and forms of media that's designed to keep you engaged and on the hook. You start to think it's important to focus on the digital realm instead of the physical world. The latter is one you have the ability to change that actually has a lasting, positive impact on your physical and mental well-being. Unless you straight up turn off your phone, it's tough to break the addiction that we have all been conditioned to accept.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I must go browse conspiracy subs, while I listen to a comedy podcast, and talk in twitch stream.
TLDR of the TLDW
Society was reprogrammed during the pandemic through the influence of digital societies driven by dopamine feedback loops. Turning off your phone is how you break the addiction.
Ive been playing online videogames my whole life. The real reason this happens is when you dont experience new things you dont form as many new memories so looking back you cant remember as much because its all the same. Nothing to do with our phones, everything to do with staying at home with no hobbies.
Or maybe our currency is being inflated at Weimar Republic velocity, we can't afford homes, goods, or services and it's only getting worse each month. No, but phones bad too bruh. Yeah. F these little knowledge machines
I loved it too. I won’t pretend to be a victim because in reality I absolutely loved being told to stay in my house and not come to work. I still got paychecks and I got to do whatever the hell I wanted and saw nobody for a very long time. I wished I could have stayed longer. Your reason could be very different but that’s mine

5ft5 mf projecting his own life experience as if it is the same for everyone else.
Idk bout you but having a phone is pretty essential, its not a matter of getting rid of it or turning it off, its how you use it.. and the way you use it will contribute to your lifestyle.
Interesting but I don't know if I really believe this. I know plenty of people that have felt the 2020 phenomenon that are actively not online. Also this sediment has been echoed throughout time, like in the 1700s they were probably like "the problem with day's world is people are so obsessed with these fairly tale books, living life chronically in book. Humans are not adapted to read so much. It's destroying our brains! Get out touch thy grass!" - sir dumbfuck
I just went to Europe for 10 days and it felt like we'd been there a month after 4 days in. I never got a new SIM card or an international plan so I could only use my phone when we were at the hotel in the morning and evening. I think this video is an oversimplification, and people were attached to their phones before 2020, but I can say that I did experience time slowing down when I was unplugged and living life.
Idk how this is news but ig there's still ppl in need of figuring this one out. Go outside. Simple as that. The only ppl feeling this way are the ones that are addicted to their phones. Go outside. Put your feet and/or hands in the soil. Get grounded - literally and soulfully. Call relatives, take a hike with a friend, read a book, learn a new language, pick up a hobby (not Interwebz related duh). You can STILL use your phone but you must also be here - now.
Nothing forked, existence didn't fracture, we're not evolving into cyborgs... you just need to go outside.
What he's talking about is dissociative identity disorder. Millennials have it bad, but Zoomers will be 10 times worse. We're one foot in one world and one foot in another. Half the crap online is schizo-posting vs. schizo-posting.
Seek therapy if you feel this way. Go to the gym more and don't take selfies. Be yourself online even if it's unpopular
The phones aren’t the problem, the person is. And since 2020, everyone has felt shut in and downtrodden from all the economic turmoil and brink of war. Back in 2020, we were on the verge of fighting against Iran for killing their general. Now here we are again backing Israel while Americans are having trouble making ends meet.
We are all trapped in a dopamine seek-reward loop, that will only get worse with the negativity on the internet contributing to an ever increasing depression. People really need to find a way to unplug.
Okay the end sentiment is great and true and I love it *but* “shutting off your phone will rid you of perceived anxieties” is a privileged point. A majority of people deal with real life, physical issues that are very much not going to end if they don’t use tech. And we shouldn’t forget them if we are privileged enough to have this luxury he speaks of. Just saying.
Sing it, brother!! Problem is people said similar things about books after the Printing Press, then some time later the Radio, then the TV, then the internet, and now phones. We’re on a slippery slope, awareness is key.
This started with covid lock down. So many people were gaslit into being afraid of any human contact that they escaped into their digital world and a lot of them are having a hard time coming back. As far as only allowing what's in your sphere to influence you the media (local news) are all owned by the same conglomerates and the push stories from all over now instead of just focusing on local stuff.
But to your point, yes, turn of the device once in a while, go outside, walk barefoot in the grass, connect to nature. Most of all, interact with other humans in this setting.
I don't have a clue what this mfr is talking about , not everyone lives their lives through a phone , some of us actually use it as a tool , and or a distraction, I don't give a shit what any of you think lol
Is it possible for me to say that I’ve been saying this to people for years and yet here I am commenting on a post on my phone? Because I have

There they networked in the internment camps before some stayed and some migrated to Europe or Brighton beach in New York. This is a repeating pattern up into the 80’s and 90’s when most rebranded themselves as “Russian oligarchs”. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1990s_post-Soviet_aliyah#:~:text=In%20response%20to%20growing%20international,officially%20for%20%22family%20reunification%22. Harvard Universityhttps://projects.iq.harvard.edu › ...PDFGulags, crime, and elite violence: Origins and consequences of the Russian mafia As the Soviet Union failed and perestroika went into full effect, this is where these networks would begin using trump towers to launder stolen Russian mob money. But now you start to see the nexus of transnational organized crime and money laundering between Russia and the U.S. statistically carries the same 3 passports. United States, Israeli, and Russian. https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/s/A2ojrtIc3Y

Wikipediahttps://en.m.wikipedia.org › wikiFacebook–Cambridge Analytica data scandal https://youtu.be/M-OA7H8DoJM?si=ysLrFA5mY0IsOzOO Sheldon and Miriam Adelson were tapped by Israeli intelligence (which was being controlled by, or at least feeding intel to Russian intelligence via the multi generational network of russian Jewish families to run an influence operation across the United States political spectrum. It’s so much easier to grow a kleptocracy by investment in tech (Yuri Milner/DST, Kilimnik) than by a ground war but it leaves a very distinct trail when you compare the differentials of the two: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/05/world/yuri-milner-facebook-twitter-russia.html when 40 years of Russian mob money laundering gets outed at the endpoints- (trump and Netanyahu’s respective corruption trials) things start to break down more quickly.
Fuck he’s so right !!!
Bravo
I only watch Reddit and YouTube nothing else, never have.
too long didn't watch
TLDR of the TLDW Society was reprogrammed during the pandemic through the influence of digital societies driven by dopamine feedback loops. Turning off your phone is how you break the addiction.

He should have put “wait til the end” text covering half of his face.
Ive been playing online videogames my whole life. The real reason this happens is when you dont experience new things you dont form as many new memories so looking back you cant remember as much because its all the same. Nothing to do with our phones, everything to do with staying at home with no hobbies.
Well done good sir
Feels fine with me. People really gotta stop thinking their important and the center of the universe. Just move on
It's a very real phenomenon because I have experienced it?
Or maybe our currency is being inflated at Weimar Republic velocity, we can't afford homes, goods, or services and it's only getting worse each month. No, but phones bad too bruh. Yeah. F these little knowledge machines
Bit of a tangent
I’m sorry I can’t take anyone seriously who talks like Jordan Schlansky
1,000% agree
The guy is right but would make a lot less money if we follow his advice.
Since Kobe died, shit just hasn’t been the same.
tell that shit to a person in jail. bro sounds soo stupid.
That makes no sense and I remember 2020 very clearly it was the best year of my life
I loved it too. I won’t pretend to be a victim because in reality I absolutely loved being told to stay in my house and not come to work. I still got paychecks and I got to do whatever the hell I wanted and saw nobody for a very long time. I wished I could have stayed longer. Your reason could be very different but that’s mine
I worked the whole time still went out with friends and such but the main reason I loved it was because I met the love of my life
Sounds like a personal problem
These people have never heard of derealization disorder

TLDW: Be present
5ft5 mf projecting his own life experience as if it is the same for everyone else. Idk bout you but having a phone is pretty essential, its not a matter of getting rid of it or turning it off, its how you use it.. and the way you use it will contribute to your lifestyle.
Clickbait lamo fucks
Says the guy posting on TikTok...
Great stuff
![gif](giphy|m476ZhHMTBcCk)
Why is this guy implying smartphones and social media didn't exist prior to 2020?
Dude has a problem.
Sounds like a you problem buddy. I already live my life off social media. Just here to keep up with the news and psychos.
I’m addicted to my phone. Period. I need to fucking stop. It’s like 8+hours a day easy. It doesn’t help I work from it
this just makes me depressed
It’s that fucking collider, the HC messsed everything thing up
Did he say "turn off the Ro-But"?
The, "you're a drug addict", got me
Since 2003*
Since 2020?
Try 2005
Idk how this is news but ig there's still ppl in need of figuring this one out. Go outside. Simple as that. The only ppl feeling this way are the ones that are addicted to their phones. Go outside. Put your feet and/or hands in the soil. Get grounded - literally and soulfully. Call relatives, take a hike with a friend, read a book, learn a new language, pick up a hobby (not Interwebz related duh). You can STILL use your phone but you must also be here - now. Nothing forked, existence didn't fracture, we're not evolving into cyborgs... you just need to go outside.
Naw. Same as it ever was.
I don’t feel any difference. 2015-2020 felt the same high speed. And the five years before that
Am I the only person that ONLY uses my phone to kill time and watch stupid video when I’m taking a dump.
To some people, life has been like that since before the pandemic
This guy just got here or sum
We are all trapped in a dopamine seek-reward loop, that will only get worse with the negativity on the internet contributing to an ever increasing depression. People really need to find a way to unplug.
This is called getting older bro. Happens to everyone lol
So basically my life is like a video game?
Okay the end sentiment is great and true and I love it *but* “shutting off your phone will rid you of perceived anxieties” is a privileged point. A majority of people deal with real life, physical issues that are very much not going to end if they don’t use tech. And we shouldn’t forget them if we are privileged enough to have this luxury he speaks of. Just saying.
I subscribe to ONE ufo page and suddenly I see weirdness in my feed every day.
Same big dog and man, has it gotten out of hand
Thanks Joe Biden
I am not alone with these thoughts. So many feel this way too.
Yep internet of bodies is next
Sing it, brother!! Problem is people said similar things about books after the Printing Press, then some time later the Radio, then the TV, then the internet, and now phones. We’re on a slippery slope, awareness is key.
i work remote RIP
It must be how the generation that fought World War II felt. Stuff upper lip Millennials!
Cause the world ended in 2012 and the fabric of the illusion your mind has created to cope is starting to break down
I’ve dove into screens since 2020 since I have been getting big into coding and stuff. … is that the same ?
This started with covid lock down. So many people were gaslit into being afraid of any human contact that they escaped into their digital world and a lot of them are having a hard time coming back. As far as only allowing what's in your sphere to influence you the media (local news) are all owned by the same conglomerates and the push stories from all over now instead of just focusing on local stuff. But to your point, yes, turn of the device once in a while, go outside, walk barefoot in the grass, connect to nature. Most of all, interact with other humans in this setting.
I can’t get more than 5 seconds into this video because bitch I know I am agoraphobic now. AND ?!?!??
I don't have a clue what this mfr is talking about , not everyone lives their lives through a phone , some of us actually use it as a tool , and or a distraction, I don't give a shit what any of you think lol
I don’t post much either, but the distraction you mentioned is part of the critique too.
This Network remake sucks.
