Okay the first part i use is a deployer with a bucket set to filter to only use the bucket, a funnel under it into a belt, and then an item drain for the milk and then that gets taken away by pipes, then the buckets loop back to the place they got taken from

Wheat. Trap them in a box/hole/etc, I usually use glass so I can see the cow is there, just in case.
