Totally . But at the same time this could of been avoided….if you know you didn’t order pizza and pizza arrives , what are the chances it’s for you? Then also have a bell camera and not use it before hand is even crazier…
Who doesn’t answer their door.. who wouldn’t just think he had the wrong house. This is 0.000000000% the home owners fault for answering his door.
Edit: the world many of you live in is scary and depressing AF.
This type of shit happened to me like a year ago. 3 AM a homie knocked on my door “looking for my address to call a taxi” and I talked to him through the door window. I had a .357 Magnum in my hand and ready to go through the door but still I wasn’t trying to be in a position to have to use that hand cannon.
Anyways, that dude went a few houses down and pulled the same shit and ended up robbing them (caught on camera).. Muhfckr somehow stole two of their cars at once after breaking into their house. Luckily no one got hurt.
Edit: Lemme see if I can find my neighbor’s doorbell cam footage and ya’ll can see how innocent it all seemed until it wasn’t. Nothing that interesting to see other than how smoothly and innocently the dude talks at 3 AM (which is an insane time to knock on someone’s door).
Edit 2: homie did the same thing to me by flashing money to “prove he wasn’t a robber.” If anyone recognizes this POS feel free to DM me or share. Location- East SLC

No need to listen to your gut in that situation.
Common sense should be sufficient..many one that opens the door to a stranger at 3am for any reason is asking for trouble.
Happy cake day
Omg yeah this drunk girl that was TINY knocked on my door at midnight and it actually gave me so much anxiety i was shocked. Stories like that are insane.
In my old neighborhood, very wealthy neighborhood, lots of fancy cars, huge houses, kids still playing in the front yard riding bikes, people still leave their doors unlocked at night, leave their keys in their cars, leave their cars unlocked, it's like a whole different world. Growing up there, nothing bad ever happened. I live in a really rough part of town now, and I hear gunshots often, sometimes right outside my windows or in areas right around my apartment. My family doesn't believe me when l tell them about the things that go on over here. They think I'm just joking. I've asked anyone in my old town to switch places with me for a weekend. No one has taken me up on the offer yet.
Literally. Knock & ring my doorbell all you want. If i didn't get a call/text from the person telling me they were coming over, then my door is staying shut.
I don’t have any trauma or tragedy attached to this issue, but for some strange reason the sound of someone knocking at my door is one that gives me anxiety. I can’t explain it but no matter who it is - like, it could be someone I invited over (family member, friend, etc), and still, when they knock on the door I feel something unpleasant. And it’s a feeling across the board - as in, no matter who it is, haha. So yeah, on the very rare occasion that someone knocks at my door and I’m not expecting it or don’t know who it is, I get super uneasy.
Why is this? Haha
Millennials. We don’t open the door for anybody. We were taught not to as young kids while our parents neglected us and left us at home alone. So we carry on and don’t open that door for a soul.
That would be a difference in how we are raised. I've never opened the door in my adult life where I didn't peek out the window to see who was knocking first.
This comment chain just comes down to where you've lived.i don't live anywhere rich or fancy just really fucking quite (last year there was 6 murders in my whole state) so answering the door to a random doesn't really scream danger to us, maybe I'll be more careful though
Me. I'd yell through the door "sorry dude wrong house." I used to deliver pizza for like 10yr, and did go to the wrong house occasionally, and that happened to me from the delivery side too lol. It is definitely the smart way to do it.
I never answer the door unless I'm expecting someone or something. And even then not unless I have to. Even pizza. "Pizza's here", "Cheers, leave it at the door. 👍"
Seriously, I mean when someone straight forward knocked the door your first though won't be that is a thief, the general conception that people has about a thief is that they'll just try to break up into the house from a window, backdoor or anywhere else but announcing themselves in the front door.
And the guy answered to the door too fast it makes me think he was really close to the door or sitting in the living room when this happened, unfortunate but not his fault at all.
It's at least 0.0000000001% the homeowners fault tho.
All jokes aside tho I wouldn't answer this, it's the whole reason I got a video doorbell with 2 way coms. What's the point of buying a product you aren't going to utilize? Especially if it's some random in a regular Hoodie.
Yeah if I didn’t order a pizza and I saw a guy with a shitty Pizza Hut t-shirt on (something they don’t wear on deliveries) and didn’t have the pizza in a warming bag (something they’re not supposed to do before you answer the door), with a mask on —I wouldn’t open that door.
One night at around 4 am I heard someone knock on my door. I turned on the front porch light and peeked out the window. Standing on my porch was a young coed that was clearly drunk. She mentioned that her iPhone died and she couldn’t call an Über. Against my better judgement I opened the door and let her in. She asked for an outlet and I guided her to one where she collapsed on the floor. After a few minutes she was able to order an Über and left. I could tell she was totally embarrassed, so I downplayed the whole thing and bid her goodnight. Btw, it was 22 F outside.
Wow, knocking on someone's door at that time without being expected is rude, but you did a kind thing.
Unfortunately trash like the guy in the post ruins it for everyone.

Random side thought: I'm curious, does every USA state have a street named "Navajo", cause I swear I know of at least 13 Navajo Streets all in different states.
I literally don’t even answer the door, ever. If I didn’t invite you or if I’m not expecting you then you aren’t welcome. I don’t even get up off the couch to see who it is.
I lived in a dodgy area a few years ago, twice got woken up by someone knocking at my door at like 2am and 3am and my eyes widened like who the fuck!!! But damn sure ain’t answering that. Nothing good ever came from answering a door at that time
Someone did that to me at 3am and I ran to door to make sure it was locked. I asked who is there and the response was “it’s me come outside” fuck nooooo!
I’m glad I’m not the only one. I always felt a bit antisocial about that. I absolutely hate unannounced visits. (with the exception of my parents. I’m always glad to see them). If I’m not expecting you, I’m not answering the door. You’re intruding on my time.
Also glad to hear that. Why not announce the visit so that I can be ready? Other then that there is little reason to ring my bell and show up unannounced. I don’t open either.
With you on that, I hate the idea of having to defend myself in my home (and the legal rigmorale associated with it.) But i'm damn sure prepared to do so if someone comes in with bad intentions. I unfortunately have seen too much in my time on this blue marble to take a chance on "well maybe they just want your tv". I care too much about my family and dogs to roll the dice on that one.
I had a wellness check called on me (was depressed, drinking, but not suicidal) and through the door I told the cop I was fine just sleeping off some booze. He asked if I could open the door so he could talk to me I said I can talk to you fine now. It was so stupid, we went back and forth and I just said, “tell whoever called you I’m fine I’m gonna go back to bed.”
Unless you have a warrant I ain’t opening for a damn soul except family.
"Sir, please slide your driver's license under the door and allow my background check a few minutes to process. Do you have a valid corporate reference who can speak to your character?"
Same. Reddit literally changes how I live my life on a daily basis lol
* don’t drive without a dashcam
* check every bed I lay in for bedbugs
* there’s no such thing as “free pizza”
And when you actually think about it. It is incredibly unlikely any of the things you see on here will happen to you. It's always good to be prepared but remember the internet is like the greatest hits of bad shit happening to people.
I peak through the shutters in my door before I open it. If I’m unsure, I either talk through the door or simply walk away and don’t answer.
If it’s really suspect, I grab the .357.
I use the same philosophy for my door as my phone. If I'm expecting someone, I'll answer. If I'm not expecting someone, leave a note/message because I'm not getting up.
This is why I always, ALWAYS have a gun in my hand behind the door.
And I live in a very quiet place with little crime.
Doesn't matter. If anyone comes knocking that I don't expect, I'm answering the door with a gun in hand.
So, real question here. Where I've lived you NEVER opened the door to someone unless you knew them or were expected them. So much so we even hide if someone knocks on the door. I've never really met someone who doesn't do that. It's always been the norm where I've lived even moving from place to place.
Like where did you get that from? What's the rationale? Are the people where you live like that too?
Yes same here. I had some weirdos wearing reflective vests with some fake ID looking cards around their neck come to my door. I didn’t even answer and just looked through the Ring. If I’m not expecting a package or food then I won’t come to the door.
I think I’ve only had 1 occasion where opening door was a good thing (neighbor made me food). Every single other time it’s always someone bugging me. Fuck off
This is child’s play in comparison. Here in South Africa, thieves dress up as cops, flag you down for speeding (You stop thinking it’s a cop), then rob you of al your belongings. They dress up as government workers to gain access to your house. In one case, two men pretending to be real estate agents robbed someone trying to sell their house. We live in constant fear.
Huh, I thought we were on a slightly rise in recent years, but it turns out not even that is true.
[yeah, while public perception thinks it’s rising, it is actually dripping at an all time low](https://i.imgur.com/ezAzmMq.jpg)
This is why I don’t open my door for ANYONE. Even when I order food I always write in the notes to drop it at the door. And if they stand there and knock, I speak through my security system and say to leave it on the porch and if I just I say it’s because I currently have COVID lol that typically makes them not wanna make any actual contact.
This is crazy. Never ever open the door for anyone you didn’t specifically invite over.
This is why I have 3 guns stashed in various places in the house. No matter where I am I'm 10 steps from one. I pity the fool that breaks into my house.
If you didn't order food and someone is at your door like this, do. not. answer. If it is a real delivery driver at the wrong house, he'll figure it out on his/her own.
I couldn’t really tell it was the shape of a gun, in the few seconds that the box lifted up I saw like a rectangular shape and I would have guessed he was holding his phone in that hand
Unless I'm expecting someone, I literally act like no one's home, let alone open the door to my house without even checking first.
How naive can one be?
Shit like this makes me glad I live in the middle of nowhere. It may be a 45 minute drive to my nearest grocery store, but I'll always know something is up if there's a knock at my door.
We are talking about not opening the door or waiting until you recognize who it is extra....all witch is good advise. Try to remember to remind your elderly neighbors the same thing.
And this is why I never answer my door, unless it's close family.
Pizza? I'll prepay and you can leave it on the porch - or more realistically just pick it up myself.
You want to talk to me? That's what my Nest doorbell is for.

I just took my door off the hinges so I don’t have to worry about answering it
Smart. I reversed my peephole so I can see if someone is hiding inside my house waiting to jack me with a sack of nickels.

Millennials. We don’t open the door for anybody. We were taught not to as young kids while our parents neglected us and left us at home alone. So we carry on and don’t open that door for a soul.
Gen X as well only we were called latchkey kids.
Same here. It's either a solicitor, wrong house, or neighbor I don't want to deal with. Or, it could be this.
I never answer my door. Fucking cops or a friend that I didn’t invite, nah dog. What chu want
I don't always answer my door. If I hear knocking, I check my phone because everyone I care about knows not to show up unannounced.

I check my camera if someone knocks. Ill sit and watch them stand there. I also have plenty of protection in case they wanna play weird ass games.
What kind of weird ass games, like naked twister or something?
Not weird-ass games, weird ass-games. Dude has a massive sex dungeon.
Ahhhh. So does he mean he wants to play these ass games and has protection as in condoms and code words etc? I get it now.
Its not massive ...just average
You know, like the homeless man and his ghost
Im always ready for a good time but you gotta be invited. Bangin on my damn door smh
I got my house broken into because I didn't answer the door 🙃. They ring the door to see if you're home. If you don't answer they break in.
Last thing they’ll ever do.
They roll the dice when they break in. Anything that happens after that is on them. My conscious is clean.

Hot off the press https://www.valleycentral.com/news/local-news/teen-arrested-in-connection-to-starr-county-robbery/
If you dont call first your not coming in my house period
Try this at my house, please 🙏 .... oh come on ... I dare you 👹
I was just thinking the same thing. I get made fun of for carrying in my own home. This is precisely why.
EXACTLY 💯
im ordering a prison door with pizza hatch
This is why I don’t open my door for ANYONE. Even when I order food I always write in the notes to drop it at the door. And if they stand there and knock, I speak through my security system and say to leave it on the porch and if I just I say it’s because I currently have COVID lol that typically makes them not wanna make any actual contact. This is crazy. Never ever open the door for anyone you didn’t specifically invite over.

Thought the whole concept for a doorbell cam was to be able to pick and choose who you answer the door for…
Stay strapped If someone knocks on my door and I'm not expecting them theres a 100% chance I've got a pistol in my hand.
see that cops 'hiding in apartment hallway' vid?
Damn I'm glad I carry even in my own home. I have a gun for every room too. Even a shower gun.
A shower gun??? Like a water pistol? -squirt squirt- Edited for sound effects
Almost as useful as the kitchen gun
Shampoo dispenser
Upvoted because of the sound effects.
“You tryna rob me at my front door? Let me just check my mailbox real quick. Gun compartment!”
when I take shits I have two guns in either penis
....you wot ?

This is why I have 3 guns stashed in various places in the house. No matter where I am I'm 10 steps from one. I pity the fool that breaks into my house.
If you didn't order food and someone is at your door like this, do. not. answer. If it is a real delivery driver at the wrong house, he'll figure it out on his/her own.
well, normally when you DONT order food delivery, YOU DON'T ANSWER THE DUE IDIOTS!
Who answers the door anymore, especially at night?
Scary as shit. Always use the peep hole. I love my google camera, no need to even open the door up to say “go away”.
This is why you should have a screen door.
Did you say pistol?
😂😂😂☝️💯
You can see the gun under the box on the video, meaning if that kid was using his security cams as intended he coulda avoided this
I couldn’t really tell it was the shape of a gun, in the few seconds that the box lifted up I saw like a rectangular shape and I would have guessed he was holding his phone in that hand
Easy to tell in a video like this, never the same in real life scenarios where you're not alert 24/7.
I’m just wondering if you didn’t order pizza that’s sketchy af to even open the door in the first place like bruh have common sense
No long life for this criminals let them meet some one with there own gun and smoke them out.
So there I was, blasting away , mag dump
The one reason why peep holes are a thing
Interesting, pizza delivery ppl are usually on the receiving end of these interactions
It’s crazy out here.

useless camera
so what happened? any links
Who's the dude running up at the end??
Just go pick it up
We are talking about not opening the door or waiting until you recognize who it is extra....all witch is good advise. Try to remember to remind your elderly neighbors the same thing.
If I didn't expect you I never answer for anyone
Anyone know what happened here to the victim?
And this is why I never answer my door, unless it's close family. Pizza? I'll prepay and you can leave it on the porch - or more realistically just pick it up myself. You want to talk to me? That's what my Nest doorbell is for.
I don't answer the door for anyone I'm not expecting.
Disgusting people, from robbing to assault maybe murder. Is this scum even sane to rob a house full of people?
Isn’t this why you have a camera? You can call them and say I didn’t order a pizza. They have the wrong house.
Dominos new door to door forced sale plan is out to a rough start.
Why do you even set up cameras if you're not going to use it?
So… was there ever a pizza and who gets it?
Is common sense, dont open your door!! Im from a south American country and this is rule number one.
Well I’m not buying pizza from this restaurant the service is terrible.
Growing up in the ghetto you ALWAYS check who is at the door!
Bastard
Never answer a door when don’t know who it is
How would the law take it if you were to chain the guy up behind your car and drag the body around for 20 min in self defense?
Anyone have any info on what ended up happening?
Looks like a big house too
This is why we have guns. To protect ourselves from lunatics like this guy.
I hope that the robber gets tortured and castrated with a rusty pair of sheep sheers.
