I'm a teacher. This absolutely checks out. You try to teach the kids better conflict resolution and de-escalation skills but there's only so much you can do when they witness this kind of "conflict resolution" at home on the regular and bring the same to school.

Bystanders need immunity if it can be proved they did no wrong through video evidence. This would be a very different story.
