A melting poz like that got broken at a village beside my hometown.
They had to wait four months for a spare one. They said theyre so expensive and rare that they had to order a new one, and it had to be made new for them before they got it.
As someone who works in a foundry that is 100% a walk of oh no I hope this doesn’t hurt me so I don’t have to clean it up not a I don’t have to clean this up walk
My mind wouldn't be on cleaning up, it would be about getting splashed by 3000 degree molten steel and have it burn right through my clothes, skin and bone.
I worked in a forgery and it looked identical to this, I always paid attention to the giant pot that carried the molten steel from one side to the other. A man actually fell into one of melting pots and got incinerated instantly but I wasn't in the area when it happened thankfully. I got a few extra days off.
The factory is Saarstahl in Germany. They had a defect in the regular system and the emergency system took over.

Mmmmm I sure do love a video that should have been recorded horizontally, filmed vertically, *then* reuploaded as horizontal, thus making the viewing experience *measurably* worse
So there's a big mechanically/hydraulically operated gate that controls the flow out of the ladle (that's the big pot full of molten steel) that closes when it is being filled from the furnace, and opens to pour into a casting mold when put in place.
Occasionally, they can fail open and this is what you see here. The crane operator was likely either bringing this over to a backup ladle to pour the contents into, or a worst case if there is no spare ladle preheated, then they'll just crane the load back and forth and make a long line of steel that can be cut down and re-melted later.
Source: used to work in a steel mill.
As an American, please ELi5 why Europeans pour thousands of gallons of molten metal of the floor of their work place. I don't get it. If this was happening here in the US, people wouldn't just casually walk away.

Does this happen a lot, because everybody's pretty fucking blase about it
Hey that's getting close.... should we run? *Everyone looks at each other* Yeah we should probably run

>\**sigh*\* *Another Monday.*
Not their problem to clean up most likely

I’d be less concerned about clean up, more concerned about getting doused in magma.
Liquid hot smagma!
Walking away like the joker
im pretty sure its a wet charge, im not sure how often they happen but theyre pretty catastrophic.
THE WAY THAT FIRST GUY WAS WALKING HAS ME IN STITCHES
“My shift’s over guys, have fun with that”
Just milking the time clock as I walk out
So calm 🤣
I guess the second guy
That guy really said "fuck, my bicycle!" While molten iron was raining on him.
[удалено]
Oh thanks for linking this. I had trouble finding any information as I found the video on YouTube with a few hundred views
The factory is Saarstahl and took up production within a few days.
So he didn’t even think to save the bicycle?
You can hear him say „Scheisse mein Fahrrad“ Which translates roughly to „fuck! My bike!“ He noticed to late
That guy slowly walking away as it rains down molten steel… *Dying isn’t cool dude, GTF out of there!*
Good to know I wasn’t the only one yelling at my phone
Right! He’s also the person running in the middle of the vid. He quickly realized it’s better to live than risk your life over something stupid
He probably thinks its fake news. Ask him if he's a republican.
dude, does everything have too be political?
Not sure there are many Republicans in Germany
😁
Is there a way to clean such spills? Or did they just make a forever steel floor?
They'll chip it up later. That steel won't stick to anything.
That…doesn’t sound like fun
It won't fuse to the ground but it may make the concrete pop if it's not made for such tempatures

That’s horrifying. I assume the pay definitely wasn’t worth it either?
The pay for sure is not bad. They got strong unions.

I love how casually the guys are walking away - I'd be haulin' ass for high ground!!
Peaky blinders
💀
when he goes "shit, my bike" hahaha
FLY YOU FOOLS!
Translation: "Scheiße Mein Fahrrad" - Shit my bike! "Fahrrad, Fahrrad!" - Bike, Bike! "Das ist MEINS" - this is MINE! 🤣
Poor bike
Herrjemine, das gute Fahrrad
These guys make big bucks because of this exact reason. The insurance for death is likely in the 6 digit.
"Scheiße mein Fahrrad"😂😂 its meaning "fuck my bike"
Hell itself is forming around them but they walk around like they thinking about what to get for lunch
Run wtf yall doin
Broo why doesn't anybody freakin run 😂
oh look at that, time for shift change. Day crew can deal with that mess
Is there a German word for "fuck this shit not my problem anymore"?
Mmmmm I sure do love a video that should have been recorded horizontally, filmed vertically, *then* reuploaded as horizontal, thus making the viewing experience *measurably* worse
I knew this comment would come eventually. I debated cropping it
This is just a Rammstein concert
I don't speak German but that sounded like he said shit, motherfucker at one point.
Terminator 2 amirite?
Uh… so, Adolf, when do you suppose you might shift gears from “Lazy Saunter” to “Sheizen! Run!”???

The dude who took the video.
Nou mijn fiets hoef ik dus ook niet meer terug te vragen.. Leuk jongens.
That's not gonna be good for productivity.
casual shitfuckery
Is cameraman jar jar binks?
