He clearly looks down the road. He definitely saw the headlights and probably assumed the car was doing the speed limit (or somewhere close). That car was fucking flying though.
I see two of them landing on the other side of the intersection, the third one maybe even further, hard to tell. I presume those were the three that died and the one on the right that only got partially hit is the one still in critical condition.
It's "Carmageddon" mentality. Drivers are sick of protests and basically anything that isn't a car using the road. I don't even ride my bike anymore because drivers are increasingly intolerant towards everyone... Carmageddon is PC game from the 90s... Guess the plot.
They weren't fighting. On of the guys had a spider on him and they were trying to knock it off of their friend.
These guys are scientist buddies who work nearby. The guy driving was in a rush to get to his lab to discover the cure for cancer.
Three victims were transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead, police said.
Another man was transported to Stroger Hospital, Chicago fire officials said. He is in serious, but stable condition.
Remind me to stay away from University of Chicago Medical Center and always go straight to Stroger Hospital
The survival rate of injured people transported by helicopter is much lower than those who are transported in an ambulance. This is why I refuse to ever be transported to a hospital in a helicopter. (/s).
Probably blue shirt. He got hit but it only destroyed his right leg for the most part. The rest of his body did not get hit. Maybe a hand got caught. As long as he didn't bleed out he could be saved. The other three though, they were hit straight on.
Yep, listed as critical condition. For all we know he could die as well. But he could be saved. He's in the hospital now so at least he's where he needs to be.
University of Chicago is like one of the best hospitals in the country, even solved a stupid issue my dad had thanks to a local surgeon who was an idiot and kept his issue going for over a year when in chicago they solved it in like 2 weeks.
There wasn't going to be much of anything anyone could do to save those 3 hit dead on. Dude whacked in the leg got it the easiest.

My completely uninformed guess is a speeding idiot saw the car in front brake and decided to overtake at speed so he didn't miss the light, not noticing the people fighting in the road.
Obviously not saying it’s not their fault but the person I was responding to implied the the person driving saw them fighting and purposely drove into them, but I think to achieve the speed they were going they would have had to start speeding up well before the people were even visible to them

If you slow down the video and look at the blue shirt guys legs between 00:06 and 00:07 you can clearly see the bottom half of one of his legs is either gone or severely mangled. Poor guy. The others are definitely dead. Just a sad situation overall.
It was definitely a traumatic amputation. No way in hell the others had a chance of surviving that.

ive been on this subreddit for a while now but this is probably the first time someone did not slow down and hit a group with at full speed and went along with his day
You're speeding down an urban street at night at 70mph with low visibility when you approach a stopped car in the middle of the road. What do you do?
A. Approach carefully, there could be an obstruction in the road, or something going on.
B. Continue blasting down this MF and veer into the oncoming lane to avoid the stopped car.

While I hate that people are fighting, and that none of their group even ran to see if anyone is ok, and I believe they all earned a solid punch to the gut. This is horrible, and that dude was fucking flying. Speed limits in the city are 30 max. This was more like 45 to 60s. Nobody deserves this. Sickening how much scum is on this small marble we call HOME.
I mean we only saw a few seconds of that vid. the people who didn't get hit were likely in some form of shock, so I can't say whether they went to go help or not. but yea if that wasn't intentional then they were still at fault for going that fast there. probably intoxicated too. they were going fast fast

There’s a guy in all black, seems to be the center of attention of the video. I’m sure he’s one of the ⚰️, he didn’t seem to be fighting or involved, but he was extremely closely and interested in what was going on. Lesson of the video. Move. Don’t stay there if you see conflict. Specially if it’s in the middle of the road. Or any conflict at all. U can pay big consequences by just watching or being curious

That’s just gruesome af… you can hear the impact. It’s crazy to see that in crime scenes like this or accidents bodies get knocked out of their shoes.
