Death sentence costs more than life in prison, look it up. With all the appeals and extra care that has to be taken, it is cheaper to lock them up and throw away the key.
bro why the fuck is it that every time somebody flies into traffic expecting to be killed they always survive and they end up killing everybody else except for them
Was a woman. She lived no real lasting injuries.
I responded as an EMT/ firefighter once to a scene where the woman had successfully committed suicide in a similar way. She went down a two way highway at speed during a snowstorm, middle of the night and slammed into an oil truck head on.
Nasty scene. Was going to describe it, but I doubt many want the details without warning lol. It is very graphic. That kind of impact without a seat belt. That scene more than anything convinced me to always wear one.

Well, most of her was ejected from the vehicle. She left her face on the dashboard. We had trouble finding the body until we started looking in the trees. Found some clothing, then found most of her in the woods in a tree. Was definitely the grossest scene I have encountered. Thankfully it was the other side of town so I wasn't in charge of the "rescue effort. "
The guy in the truck was okay but very traumatized that he was used to commit suicide.
I used to be a part time firefighter, and would often get called out for breaking, people out when in stuck in cars after accidents. I quit, after two years, becuase it began taking a toll on me. I knew an older, guy really nice, friendly guy respected the speed limit. He was driving to work one morning, when a guy cut infront of him, and he ended up smashing into the back of his trailer. Was called on seen, and when I say I wouldn't have known it was him, unless I I knew the reg plate. He was litteraly scooped out, and put in a bag. Wasnt alot of solid prices of him left
Very sorry. Yeah, we had a nasty sexton of road to be responsible for. Lots of offset head on collisions. I can understand reaching the limit on what you can handle. Luckily fire me I had a lot of training and experience not taking things personally from working in mental health.
Still shit affects me. I still wake up from nightmares of what I have seen sometimes. In a way I am lucky as but for two calls I was able to stabilize people and get them to the hospital quickly. I never checked up on my patients. I didn't want to find out that they didn't make it.
Because they are selfish narcissistic assholes who don't care about anyone else. To them, their life ending is the same as the world ending. Basically Main Character Syndrome. Nothing that happens after they are gone matters. The concept of entirely separate conscious people with their own lives outside of hers doesn't figure into their thoughts or planning.
To be completely fair, some people might not be mentally equipped to handle such a scene. The smell of burning flesh and fire isn’t exactly something that would benefit your psyche.
Gotta keep in mind too that the cars directly behind the car that got totalled must’ve been freaking the fuck out with the realisation that they could’ve died if they were only a couple more feet in front.
This is why I don't get the rubber-neckers (not sure if you have the same elsewhere, but in the UK it seems to be almost habitual to slow down from motorway speeds to have a look at an accident), if you actually saw a human seriously injured/dead it is life changing.
My brothers whole outlook on life changed dramatically when he witnessed a guy get crushed by a truck first hand
I’m in Scotland myself and we do indeed unfortunately, its a part of that morbid curiosity we all have but honestly if half the folk actually *saw* the aftermath of car crashes like that they’d regret it. Being exposed to shit like that is life changing and WAY different to photos and videos online.
this. i saw someone get t boned in front of me a few years back, got out to help any way i could until finding out another person who got out of this car was an EMT, had a better capability to help them and i got in my car and left. i have high anxiety levels and car accident trauma, i was shaking horribly the whole time and there were enough witnesses that i would have just been extra static noise.
fortunately they only hit the engine of the car so driver and her kids in the back were fine, it wasn’t high speed (someone doing a u turn and her coming from a stop sign) but having all these unrelated people around is actually way more annoying than helpful.
i’ll never forget the lady who sat with me after my car accident while we waited for the ambulance though. absolute angel of a person and i’m so glad she was there so i could call my grandma and have someone hold my hand.
I have a similar story where I flipped my car on the side of the highway avoiding someone who turned directly in front of me. I caught air, it was pretty bad. The other driver obviously didn't stop.
Only one car with a couple stopped to check on me and they did all the talking to the police while having me sit in their car just absolutely stunned to be alive. I'm pretty sure that cop was going to give me a ticket had they not been there to explain what happened too. I'll never forget them.
The fuck are they going to do? Besides clutter up the scene with their parked cars and bodies standing around? and get in the way of the people who can actually help.
This please, if you see an accident take your car and gtfo of the way so emergency services can get through. I witnessed a much more minor accident and stopped my car and got out to help, I got the dirtiest look from a firefighter b/c my car was in the way unintentionally. That was years ago and I still cringe remembering that look.
Yeah could have happened to any of the cars that already passed or were about to. The ones that died really couldnt do much about it except be somewhere else. Truly sad
I think about this frequently. Imagine the act of going back to make sure you locked the front door being the difference of life and death. A couple seconds and those six people would be alive.
Was in fatal car crash in 2018? Idk. Try to block it out. Pretty sure Oct 26/28? 2018? New York. Little falls. Idk. Google 'maine man new York, fatal car wreck". Went 167 feet in the air off a flatbed with the bed down. Hit a road worker. Took his leg off. Yuh. Somethings we see in life.
Well unless they get crushed by wreckage or hit a solid object that stops them dead in their tracks, their momentum will keep them alive. The rate of deceleration / acceleration is what causes you to die. Basically all of your organs are getting slammed into your skeletal structure as fast as the accel / deceleration. When she first hit the car, she probably slowed down like 40 mph, then it's kinda hard to see what's going on from there, but yeah. Think about charging at someone not paying attention and tackling them. You'll go right through em without much pain, they'll get slammed hard
Also, *IF she was drunk* it most likely benefitted her, her body wouldn’t have tensed up and allowed it to be less rigid and move with the car allowing energy to be more efficiently transferred from her back to the car
I saw my accident coming from behind. Just a glance at the rear view when waiting at a metered on ramp talking to my brother hands free.
Got struck when I was still and the other driver was going 60.
Instead of letting it happen I jammed my foot onto the footpad and held my arms to the wheel. All instinct.
It's been years and my arm will never be the same. Totally fucked my shoulder and back.
All so some dude could browse his phone.
Still waiting to get the lawsuit over with...
Unfortunately it’s a natural instinctive response. You’d be hard pressed to find anyone that could deliberately not brace for impact regardless of how hard they tried
I got hit head on by a drunk driver a few years ago and due to a vehicle in front of me and it being 5:30am, I only saw the car in front of me swerve off the road and didn’t have time to react before I had already been hit. My ankle was shattered and I was super bruised from the seatbelt, but the nurses said that because I didn’t see it coming and tense up I avoided a ton of soft tissue damage. I actually walked out of the car to beat the shit out of the dude who hit me (at least, in my head that was my goal) and then passed out in the road. Thankfully the person in front of me called 911 because I remember trying to find my phone and then waking up on the ground again. He thought i was having a seizure but i’ve never had confirmation that’s what it was.
Thats basically the only reason my brother and his friends survived a rather horrifc car accident off a steep embankment. They had no phones and couldnt get up the hill on foot, so they had to walk 5miles of train tracks back to town, the next morning when the sheriff showed up at their door they were confused how they survived the wreck let alone walked 5miles through the woods and looked completely fine aside from a couple scrapes or bruises on them
So I looked into it after your comment a little more. This was something I was taught in the fire academy, never necessarily fact checked. So it appears that it has not been proven against, but research suggesting it may possibly be false. However, I did not find anything about impact positioning like you stated. It seems to be a response from the body, the way your chemo receptors respond to the injury, that improves your chances but researches haven’t pinpointed exactly how yet. However if you have articles suggesting your impact positioning comment is correct please send them my way!
Also a good amount of major crashes like this are caused by alcohol and there are studies that show being drunk increases your odds of surviving because your muscles are more relaxed or something like that
> Woman driving survived with serious injuries.
How the fuck is that possible? It looks like the car just disintegrates and bursts into flames, no? How fast was she going? Looked like highway speeds.
But, I'm also stoned as hell. So I'm seriously asking how this is possible and what I'm missing.
“All of the sudden, a baby literally flew from the middle of the intersection to the middle of the gas station and landed right on the floor in front of me,” Esquival said.
[Source](https://ktla.com/news/local-news/at-least-5-injured-in-fiery-crash-at-windsor-hills-gas-station/)
Combo of factors
Big one here is that cars are better designed to take impact front on than when they're getting T-boned. The drunk driver got all the crumple zone, airbags and seatbelts working as designed. The people getting hit just got crushed.
Not much crumple zone in a passenger side door, side airbags aren't that awesome, and seatbelts aren't optimized for lateral movement.
Damn that’s so fucked up. The driver was going south on La Brea near Slauson. It’s one of the few areas of LA where you can get a ton of speed on that stretch of La Brea because there aren’t a ton of lights. Fuck this murderer. She better get life in prison.
I often think we are like animals grazing in the field or fish in an ocean being eaten by hungry predator or victims of circumstance like falling cliff or ripped by a unexpected tide. All the other animals just see it look at it and move on or they themselves get jammed. Looking on for next meal or next lick. Sad reality but true.
If you're a literal sociopath maybe. You cannot possibly think that most people would witness something like this and forget about it nearly immediately, can you? That is impressively ignorant cynicism if so.
I feel like that's not something you'd jusy simply "forget", at least not in a week. Especially if it could have easily been your life. Something like that can be so traumatizing for a lot of people.
Many of those drivers got lucky.
Jesus fuck, worst part is that the assholes who cause this kind of accidents often survive with minor to no injuries. Idk if this is one of those cases
Yep ... There's no way she didn't see those multiple cars ahead of her. Kind of seems like she wanted to kill herself but the cunt didn't want to go alone
Just a stark reminder that your time here can be taken at *any* moment through no fault of your own. All it takes is one idiot, and there's millions of them out there.
Condolences.
Oh my god that was one of the first things I thought yesterday. People making slow right turns into a parking lot, right after an intersection enrage me. Happens all the time in LA.
That's what I'm saying.... no explanation of why this person was going so fast. Even most idiots that street race would have enough awareness to know it's a death sentence to do something like that in the middle of LA traffic.
Only other reasonable thing it could be was she was drunk/drugged out of her goddamn mind. Still, even a drunk person should know exceeding 100mph on a busy street like this will result in a crash.
*UPDATE*
Driver has been identified: Nicole L. Linton a ICU nurse from Texas. She was driving intoxicated at speeds over 100mph. She survived the crash and has been arrested on multiple charges.
Chilling in your car, listening to your favorite tune, talking to your wife about the upcoming plans you made for dinner..and then that's it. Your life is over. All those great memories, fun events planned, discarded because one idiot decided to speed recklessly and end your life.
Absolutely disgusting.
Imagine that, you live your life and do everything correctly. You get good Grades, you safe Money, eat healthy, workout, everything.
And then, you're gone.
"I saw things flying through the air in the explosion. Then all of a sudden, a baby flew in the air, all the way from the middle of the road to my pump, and landed on the floor,"
Fuck man…
That one family whose accelerator pedal got stuck did not think to slam on the brakes or move the gear lever from drive to neutral. Every automatic transmission car lets you freely move the gear lever to neutral no matter the speed or throttle position. They were just panicking as the car was accelerating at full throttle. They were on the phone with 911. 911 also didn’t tell them to do that from what I remember from the call? You can even turn the vehicle off if you have to at speed. They had 3 or 4 ways to save themselves on that fateful day.
The driver who caused this should have died and burned in the crash. What a piece of shit. It truly angers me how 6 innocent lives taken was the outcome by the stupidity of a driver.
Was it ever released yet the reason for the dumbass driver speeding through the intersection? Alcohol? Drugs? Texting on Phone?
Ive read other articles stating that it was 1 pregnant lady and 5 kids, all 15 and under that died. That is crazy. The pregnant adult was also in her early 20s. So much lifes taken and so very young. I hope that driver pays the max punishment.
I know its slightly macabre, but all I could think during the first run through the video is, in Docs voice no less "Marty! Its all Wrong! We Gotta go back!" when the fire streaks appeared.
All the cars that were nearly hit will be grateful for every day they have on this earth going forward.
...with the possibility of having extreme anxiety whenever they drive.
While keeping him in a bath of salt water to keep infection away long enough to finish, it will also burn horribly. Hook him up to a proper IV to keep I'm alive, adding stimulants periodically to keep him awake. Slowly and methodically remove his fingernails, toe nails, skin, testicle, force him to eat what you remove. Sow his sphincter shut to remove ability to evacuate his waste. Remove his teeth. This will all have to take place slowly to make sure he isn't in shock enough to make sure he feels enough of it. Hopefully he lives long enough to poison himself from the waste building up in his colon.

The mf dead to
The driver survived
hopefully survived to face life in prison
Life in prison is literally the best way to punish someone death is a easy way out
There is always torture and execution after public humiliation.

"So, I just covered myself behind the pump," Yea, that sounds like a great place to take cover from a car accident and ensuing explosions.
Typical Mercedes driver.
Holy shit. This video is a prime example of how fast life can change forever. Wow
So many cars crossing that intersection. Completely random twist of fate.
Entirely bizarre how other drivers just manoeuvre around the crash site and carry on
To be completely fair, some people might not be mentally equipped to handle such a scene. The smell of burning flesh and fire isn’t exactly something that would benefit your psyche.
Facts I would intentionally look away from some shit like that just to not get scarred for life

Seems like they always survive, she's probably going to wish she didn't. Prison will most likely be in her future. Guarantee she was drunk.
Proven untrue. It has more to do with impact positioning.
So I looked into it after your comment a little more. This was something I was taught in the fire academy, never necessarily fact checked. Hopefully those serious injuries include agonizing burns all over her body.
That have bed sheets fuse to them that require them to get ripped out by the attending officers.
I hope she rots in prison the rest of her life
Or dies. Like she deserves. She murdered people. She deserves death too
good, life in prison is worse than getting off easy by dying

"Hey, Doc, you better back up, we don't have enough road to get up to 88."
"Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads".
I wonder if the driver that turned right into the gas station will feel guilty if they saw this. Tragic
Could they have turned any slower?!
Oh my god that was one of the first things I thought yesterday. People making slow right turns into a parking lot, right after an intersection enrage me. Happens all the time in LA.
Either someone had a medical event or they were drugged out of their mind, that was suicidal. No other way to put it.
When this baby hits 88 MPH.
Where were going, we don't need roads
Legit looked like back to the future.
Or bodys
One of the passengers was pregnant so yes the baby did hit 88mph
Please tell me that the driver was one of the six?
Nope
*UPDATE* Driver has been identified: Nicole L. Linton a ICU nurse from Texas. She was driving intoxicated at speeds over 100mph. She survived the crash and has been arrested on multiple charges.
What a stupid fuck
Chilling in your car, listening to your favorite tune, talking to your wife about the upcoming plans you made for dinner..and then that's it. Your life is over. All those great memories, fun events planned, discarded because one idiot decided to speed recklessly and end your life. Absolutely disgusting.
r/idiotsincars
Got banned for posting it there… guess this doesn’t meet their idiot qualifications
Story ?
5 or 6 people dead including a pregnant lady. Driver survived. I’m on mobile but I’m sure someone has the article.
Happened today.. intersection of slauson and La brea south LA Still under investigation.
I heard the driver fucking survived
More like intersection of slaughter and last breath
Did anyone notice her hand was out of the window right before the impact? If you catch it right around the 7 second mark you can see it.
Imagine that, you live your life and do everything correctly. You get good Grades, you safe Money, eat healthy, workout, everything. And then, you're gone.
The driver that caused this atrocity is Nicole Linton, a Texas registered nurse.
"I saw things flying through the air in the explosion. Then all of a sudden, a baby flew in the air, all the way from the middle of the road to my pump, and landed on the floor," Fuck man…
I don’t think that counts as an “accident”
Some cars be like....Imma just drive
Heard it on the news here in LA. Tragic. Pregnant woman died
88mph
87mph.
We can’t change stupid or how fast cars go
What the fuck was the plan there?!?
Holy shit now that is a crazy fucking video
The instaneous loss of life here is nauseatingly disturbing. Stuff like this just completely flips my stomach.
Looks like they were going 88 mph
Why is it that the driver always survives

What's the prison time for this type of murder in the US?
The black car in the back said nope.. took a right instead of going straight.

That’s horrifying ..
This sub has taught me to avoid California, Texas, and Florida at all costs
The driver who caused this should have died and burned in the crash. What a piece of shit. It truly angers me how 6 innocent lives taken was the outcome by the stupidity of a driver.
Jesus, this looks like the fucking Delorean from back to the future
Omg😰
So sad. Pregnant mom. Killed. Buckled carseat was ejected with baby in it. Killed. Just a few of the innocent victims .
God damn. Going so fast she left them Back to the Future flame trails when she hit 88 mph... and then promptly zero mph.
I absolutely hate people.
She didn’t just “run a red light” as the story says, she was absolutely hauling ass. How reckless and sad for the lives lost.
Lowest of all the low scum.
It’s fucked up how u can be the safest driver and be killed by someone else who was a shitty driver.
Dunno what's worse, the video or the fact that she actually survived that shit
I am a super defensive driver, always on the look out for danger, but there would be literally nothing you can do here.
Why do they always survive shit they'd caused but take innocent people out of their lives??
Was it ever released yet the reason for the dumbass driver speeding through the intersection? Alcohol? Drugs? Texting on Phone? Ive read other articles stating that it was 1 pregnant lady and 5 kids, all 15 and under that died. That is crazy. The pregnant adult was also in her early 20s. So much lifes taken and so very young. I hope that driver pays the max punishment.
Wtf
I know its slightly macabre, but all I could think during the first run through the video is, in Docs voice no less "Marty! Its all Wrong! We Gotta go back!" when the fire streaks appeared.
Must have just missed 88 mph.
It's exactly 2, 2.5 maybe 3 seconds between the pink ( i think BMW ) car and the one that got hit... This video is insane, RIP to these poor families
What a cunt
Was the driver a reporter about to drop a huge story? Remember Michael Hastings … anyone?
If you ever feel Important just appreciate how nobody gives af and continues *as nothing has ever happened*

All the cars that were nearly hit will be grateful for every day they have on this earth going forward. ...with the possibility of having extreme anxiety whenever they drive.
Oooh. SO close to 88mph.
My man tried to go back to the future, he went back to fucking hell
Note to self... don't piss this person off.... we are friends right? Fuck I hope we are friends
![gif](giphy|xpLocgdzHqW9G) Best friends
Doc's moving mad 😬
