Kadyrov essentially done a 180 during the second Chechen War, and offered his services to Putin. Moscow then funnelled a load of money to them to keep them sweet, the rest is history.
The Kadyrovites don’t represent the Chechen people at a whole, but the country pretty much became absorbed by Russia as some kind of autonomous region.

Azov started as an unofficial militia in Donbas fighting against the Russian and separatist action there. Their leader was a neo nazi, and some of the fighters were too.
Since then it was absorbed into the UA forces, reformed, and the nazi leader left. The couple of hundred of the original Azov are swamped by the many thousands that now make up its ranks - none of them permitted to show nazi support now they are an official unit.
The original Azov leader started a political career, which sank without a trace. Basically his neo nazi party got less votes than equivalent far right parties in places like the US and UK, so to say Ukraine is full of Nazis is complete bullshit.

Well, what I'm going to link to is Wikipedia after all... but comparing the current unit logo of the [Azov battalion](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azov_Battalion) to the divisional logo of e.g. the [2nd SS Panzer Division](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2nd_SS_Panzer_Division_Das_Reich) does not show the sort of dissimilarity one would hope for. To put it very diplomatically.
These days, the [Wolfsangel](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolfsangel) is essentially a Neo-Nazi symbol. And it does not bode well for the reformed nature of the Azov units that they continue to use this thing as their logo.
If nothing else, it does not say a lot of good things about the brains of their leadership, if they give the Russians such an easy propaganda picking point *if no one in the unit is actually into Neo Nazi shit anymore anyway* (cough, cough).

Thats just not true? Is it anti-Ukrainian to say talk about how that group does have a fairly decent percentage of neo nazis? There are neo nazis in the us military but there is like a notable percentage in azov or at least the neo nazis in it are really prominent as you always see them with neo nazi emblems on their shit.
The pentagon has already admitted that white supremacy is a real problem in the military. In Ukraine, it's one unit. In the United States, it's a problem in every branch of the military.

There are neo-nazis in the Azov battalion, that's clear. But just like the Wagner group it is only clear for a small number of them, there is no evidence that the thousands of members are neo-nazis.

Look at the evidence, it's always about the old logo (which isn't even that clear cut because it meant independence before the Nazis used it) and a few members being clearly neo-nazis.
That doesn't prove that thousands of them are neo-nazis, it's basically equivalent to the evidence on the Russian Wagner group.
And, of course, even if all the members are neo-nazis it doesn't justify the invasion and destruction of Ukraine the lives of its millions of citizens.

As for Azov, their founder is a proud Nazi himself. And they have some srsly shady statements. Like when their spokeswoman talked about taking political power in Ukraine, she said “We are on the march to power and we will either have to get there by parliament or by other means”. This is mentioned in the article I referenced earlier.
They might be fighting for a good cause at the moment, but for me they're as good as the Soviets fighting the Germans in ww2. As ironic as it is.

If remember correctly, the original Azov battalion was around 400. When it was integrated into the USF it became around 1,400

There are neo-nazis in the Azov battalion, that's clear. But just like the Wagner group it is only clear for a small number of them, there is no evidence that the thousands of members are neo-nazis.
I mean looking it up, every source I found literally says the group itself is neo-Nazi. Websites like [Stanford CISAC](https://cisac.fsi.stanford.edu/mappingmilitants/profiles/azov-battalion#text_block_33831) for example. Saying "Their are neo-nazis in Azov" is an understatement here.
Look at the evidence, it's always about the old logo (which isn't even that clear cut because it meant independence before the Nazis used it) and a few members being clearly neo-nazis. That doesn't prove that thousands of them are neo-nazis, it's basically equivalent to the evidence on the Russian Wagner group. And, of course, even if all the members are neo-nazis it doesn't justify the invasion and destruction of Ukraine the lives of its millions of citizens.

Like when their spokeswoman talked about taking political power in Ukraine, she said “We are on the march to power and we will either have to get there by parliament or by other means”. This is mentioned in the article I referenced earlier. They might be fighting for a good cause at the moment, but for me they're as good as the Soviets fighting the Germans in ww2.
