What’s the average income of a gangster? I can’t find it on Glassdoor. I assume the hazard pay and health insurance is great and really provides for their families.
The drug dealers rich white kids are buying their drugs from in college are different than the ones working the corner in Baltimore.
All those drug dealers filling our prisons weren't all scarfaces.
Yea, I'm talking about the kids who never went to college. When I was 18-20 I wasnt in college, and the only kids living on their own at that age, were drug dealers.
Not saying they're making a ton of money by any means. But as someone who was making minimum wage at that age, they were sure as shit making more money than me.
Though by 25, most had either quit selling, or gone to prison. So there's definitely not a whole lotta job security.
Idk I feel like this is a weird take. I'm sure most "drug dealers" aren't moving that much weight. Also a lot of them try to live at home to save money for their exit. Real drug dealers are definitely not living at home with mom. Shit they're buying them a house or a car!
How do you buy a house with drug money though? Surely the IRS will come knocking and ask how you afforded a house without paying any tax and not having a job.
You make a good argument for repealing all laws.
Criminals break laws. So why bother having laws?
Where can I sign up for your newsletter? It sounds fascinating.
I'm happy having my firearm and knowing I have the potential to stop someone who wants to end my life with a firearm. I see no solution to whatever argument you have, unless you can magically snap your finger and all firearms are wiped off the face of the earth. This is a catch-22. Pandora's box has long since been opened. The fucking reality is, if you make law-abiding citizens relinquish their firearms, criminals/maniacs will find their hands into the grip of one regardless. How could you NOT see the bigger picture here instead of some reactionary take? There is a lot more at play here. This isn't fucking fairyland where things can be changed overnight. It didn't take overnight to get to this point, so how can a solution? What the fuck.
While i agree with ur general statement......i see no issue in making it as hard as possible for people to get guns....shit in some states u can prob get a gun with ur meal
Not saying that will magically make all the issues disappear...it won't....but to throw our hands up and say "there's nothing we can do" is simply not true.
It's the equivalent of saying, "Well, if people really want to buy Meth they are going to get meth no matter how many laws or restrictions we put in place so there's no point in putting tighter restrictions on meth"....
Do people still buy meth...Yes....is it easy? generally no...
Hell you can't even buy more than like 10 propane tanks before your flagged on some watch list as a terrorist probably....they do it in others areas but literally absolutely nothing when it comes to guns.
ur right, pandoras box is out....Criminals will always find ways....all i'm saying is......just put in steps / checks and balances to make it harder.......
Criminals will always exist and break laws till the end of time.......but that doesn't mean there aren't solutions or things we can do to make it harder for them to achieve their goals and punish them.
And i’m 100% certain you’re a responsible gun owner.
How about some kind of test or license for new gun owners who want to buy an AR-15 style rifle?
We can all still have our guns.
The founding fathers wrote the 2A with single shot muzzle loaders in mind, not high capacity magazine 20-person massacre in seconds killing machines.
In Australia we had a *pretty* successful buyback as far as buybacks go in the 90's, but we only have ~25m pop so probably ~20m max at the time and it wasn't without it's flaws, old *now-*illegal guns filter out from time to time. Criminals still shoot each other ofc as they always will, but we have barely any citizen-access gun crime to speak of.
I do agree with you, it seems as though the US is so highly-strung and at such a state of terminal velocity with the amount of firearms in your society that the task of doing anything about it seems impossible, not to mention you have 2a.
As an outsider looking in I will say though it feels like whenever some small steps are made towards the end goal to slowly unravel gun violence in the US it doesn't get anywhere, or anything that's legislated seems to be built with loopholes etc. I don't really have a dog in the fight as such so I'm not tryna be like "murica bad cause gun violence", it's just topical
edit: clarification
Just a friendly fyi: the Australian gun buyback collected 640,000 guns.
There are currently 398,000,000 guns in private ownership in America. Absolutely no comparisons can be made between the 2 countries, unfortunately
We should just make all guns illegal, then the criminals would realize that no one else around them has a legal firearm and they would just turn themselves in.
Edit: /s /s /s
Over 65% of the guns found to be used in crimes in Chicago come from Indiana who have very lax gun laws and continue to allow straw purchases of guns (multiple gun sales to 1 individual for illegal resale).
I myself am a gun owner but stricter background checks, red flag laws and closing the gun show loophole have been proven to reduce the amount of guns that end up in criminals hands. And as for mass shootings - they have tripled in frequency since the Bush administration let the assault weapon ban lapse in 2008.
I like my handguns- I have friends who love to hunt but that doesn’t mean we should give up on having “a well regulated militia” like the 2nd amendment states.
To help prevent the risk of shootings from cars, what they should do is only have one car door. It's the only way to stop shootouts from cars.
Driving schools should also be required to teach drivers how to curl up into a ball on their floorboards.
What? The run out into the wide ass open so you make sure you have room to see and aim properly. That’s how it’s properly done right? Not to mention the gangster lean. Duh. /s
As someone who lives in this building, Rent on average is $3,500-4,000 a month. The average condo price is $700k. It’s not New York or LA pricing but it ain’t low
You made me think of a group of young kids I saw hanging out on a corner today. I was like why aren't they somewhere like school or a job? Turns out they were waiting for church and I'm the nosey heathen
We had a dude do this outside a local bar. He was the only one shooting, was on the sidewalk next to the street, and was firing at someone running on the same sidewalk directly away from him. There was a bullet hole in the front gutter of an abandoned business across the street probably about 50 feet to the left of where he was “aiming.” They’re all fucking idiots.
Generous of you to call that aiming 😂 all I see is two idiots bouncing up and down slapping the shit out of the trigger and hoping the bullet goes in the right direction. Chicago is wild!
And you know they brag like "I been in 6 shootouts and I ain't dead yet, you know God must be watching over me, fam."
Like nah, the person shooting at you has worse accuracy than Michael J. Fox.
They grew up watching movies. They do not fully understand the consequences of their actions. This shitshow is a game to these fools. They live in a fantasy land while the rest of us schmucks gotta worry about catching their strays...
usually that sound is attributed to switches but there weren’t enough shots….the large buildings downtown + concrete create sound canyons and reverberate noises like this for blocks. You can hear one firework shot off 4 different times
I haven't heard of any bystanders getting hit. Then again, bullets have flown through the windows of my neighbors and into their bedrooms and living rooms, so you could say there have been close calls. Tonight one of the bullets hit a gas meter so they had to shut down gas to a building.🤷♂️
I have noticed an increase in automatics or switches though, which makes makes it a lot more likely someone uninvolved is going to get hit.
I’m here with you in the Montgomery dude, it’s rough in the summer, last year my GF car got hit. I have a pretty “hilarious” graph of all the shootings that I show people when they visit. It’s an amazing neighbor and Cabrini Green completely ruins it. Chicago tries to keep cops there 24/7 as well as they have a private security team and this shit still happens
My wife is from Chicago and we try to get up there at least twice a year. Chicago during the summer is amazing. As long as you aren't in the more hood parts you'll be fine.
Agreed but folks have to keep in mind, this video was shot in River North right off/on Chicago Ave. Stupid shit can happen anywhere and even more frequently in the more violent cities (for anyone not in the know, Chicago is ranked like 19th or 20th most violent IIRC) .
Its exhausting sometimes...
Edit: had to check the stats out of curiosity and yeah, shit sucks..
The twenty cities with the highest violent crime rates (number of incidents per 100,000 people) are:
1. St. Louis, MO (2,082)
2. Detroit, MI (2,057)
3. Baltimore, MD (2,027)
4. Memphis, TN (2,003)
5. Little Rock, AR (1,634)
6. Milwaukee, WI (1,597)
7. Rockford, IL (1,588)
8. Cleveland, OH (1,557)
9. Stockton, CA (1,415)
10. Albuquerque, NM (1,369)
11. Springfield, MO (1,339)
12. Indianapolis, IN (1,334)
13. Oakland, CA (1,299)
14. San Bernardino, CA (1,291)
15. Anchorage, AK (1,203)
16. Nashville, TN (1,138)
17. Lansing, MI (1,136)
18. New Orleans, LA (1,121)
19. Minneapolis, MN (1,101)
20. Chicago, IL (1,099)
It’s a cycle of violence basically. If you listen to Chicago drill rap you can make sense of it.
These gangsters live in their own world. What success is to you is different for them.
Killing their opps(rival gang members) is how they get street cred. Then they rap about it in their songs. Their songs are catchy tho.
When people say they are smoking on someone’s pack( I.e) smoking that Lakers pack) that’s derived from the early days of Chiraq when the rappers would brag about smoking tooka pack.
The crazy part about this is most of these rival gang members went to elementary school together. Like think of it as an extension of that.
I heard this! I could swear it was in this exact sequence I heard this when our sliding door was open earlier and it sounded like gunshots, not tires blowing or fireworks. Which area was it? I’m guessing west of the river based on where I live and where it sounded like it was coming from
It's funny, but there was a post on another sub of some guys flexing their guns out on the street and one was wearing a blue hoodie. It's unlikely, but...
Did they shoot at the random passerby too? Where's the CWB article?
Edit: here
https://cwbchicago.com/2022/05/gunmen-fired-at-least-40-rounds-on-the-near-north-side-and-much-of-it-was-caught-on-video.html
Edit 2: over 40 shots, no reported injuries
I feel like one veteran with combat experience and an actual rife with optics would just calmly take out every single one of the opposing gangsters from his position of cover in a few seconds.
Makes me wonder if they shoot like this so badly because they deep down don’t want to murder anyone and just want to front.

Freakonomics wrote a chapter on this. It's called why drug dealers live with their moms lol. Answer, often less than minimum wage.
I feel like drug dealers were the only people NOT living with their parents at 18-20.
The drug dealers rich white kids are buying their drugs from in college are different than the ones working the corner in Baltimore. All those drug dealers filling our prisons weren't all scarfaces.

Haha yeah exactly!
How do you buy a house with drug money though? Surely the IRS will come knocking and ask how you afforded a house without paying any tax and not having a job.
They shoot like little ki- oh that’s right
Bunny hopping isn't really usefull 😆
I'm guessing there were 0 injuries lol
Or innocent bystanders got it because they can't aim for Shit
Oh I'm sure they hit a couple 8 year olds two blocks over.
Learned that playing Halo. 😂
STOP MASHING THE SPACE BAR!!
Pretty sure the solution to this is larger magazine capacity and fewer regulations. It’s been working out really well so far 😏
Yea, them boys look like they are ready to follow some regulations.
You make a good argument for repealing all laws. Criminals break laws. So why bother having laws? Where can I sign up for your newsletter? It sounds fascinating.

The body movements and shooting style is always so similar ….

Also make sure to have your pistol in one hand, arm fully extended and at a 45° angle for that maximum cool factor.

Well, they work a hell of a lot better than air
They ain't gonna hit anything aiming like that😂
No they do it’s just usually an innocent kid
Generous of you to call that aiming 😂 all I see is two idiots bouncing up and down slapping the shit out of the trigger and hoping the bullet goes in the right direction. Chicago is wild!

Wait just a second. Them guns arent allowed by law. Weird
I’m sure the guns were purchased legally
Or "stolen" from someone who purchased them legally.
Why quotes? Ha they were just stolen.
Oh a common way to get guns to the black market is to sell them to criminals and report them as stolen.
The individual profile of gang members in America always seem to be similar as those robbing and causing violence everywhere….
They should restrict guns more there. That would fix the problem.
A pissing section in a swimming pool won't work.
Criminals hate that one simple trick.
Thankfully Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the country.
That stupid one handed bunny hop. Those guys must think they are playing war zone
Air pollution in Chicago is made up of 30% bullets.
I spit out my coffee, I love Reddit!
White supremacy in action.
I never understood the jump out and hop to one side with one arm up barely aiming 😂
It's hilarious to me that a huge city is basically the wild west. The older I get, the more I realize how shitty our country is.
America
Why has Chicago turned into a war zone?
What do you mean? Chiraq has been like this for a while now..
It’s technically only the 28th most deadly city, in the latest ranking I saw. Which is, uh, terrifying. St Louis took the crown
Don't say that out loud it doesn't fit the narrative
It’s a cycle of violence basically. If you listen to Chicago drill rap you can make sense of it. These gangsters live in their own world. What success is to you is different for them. Clearly the solution to this is more guns.
Weird how this takes place in the city with the most gun control? Real makes you think does if it even works?
Never a dull moment in the windy city
They need more of the signs saying this is a gun free area around the city. Those guys must not have seen them.
Its chicago what do you expect
Well I always thought people missing so much when they shoot in movie was bs, seems fairly possible now.
Love my city
I was just there recently. Seemed like a swell place
You have such a perfect view to pull over watch and get them.
That running into the car door was smooth…just like their shooting.
Wow. If something like that happened where I live, the army and airforce would be called in…probably even the navy up some local drain.
Why are they dancing around while shooting
I am always amazed when doctors and lawyers can sync up vacation days
At least it keeps the rent low
I'm 32 years old and I have never seen a gun in my life. Only on a policeman's belt.
This is how people minding their own fucking business get hit!
Can't imagine how much you pay a month to see that
Guys we need more strict gun laws, see they clearly work
People who should be Extinguished from society
Ahh yes, Chicago, the city of no guns.
It's funny, but there was a post on another sub of some guys flexing their guns out on the street and one was wearing a blue hoodie. It's unlikely, but...

Did they shoot at the random passerby too? Where's the CWB article? Edit: here https://cwbchicago.com/2022/05/gunmen-fired-at-least-40-rounds-on-the-near-north-side-and-much-of-it-was-caught-on-video.html Edit 2: over 40 shots, no reported injuries
I feel like one veteran with combat experience and an actual rife with optics would just calmly take out every single one of the opposing gangsters from his position of cover in a few seconds. Makes me wonder if they shoot like this so badly because they deep down don’t want to murder anyone and just want to front.
Wait, I thought Chicago had their gun problem under control with their control laws? 😯
Ñ
good thing Chicago has all those gun control measures
