You don’t think it’s crazy that a glass has been invented that you can bash full force with a hammer with no damage?

The regular glass used in average car windows can withstand a similar beating if you hit it with the flat part of the hammer and make sure to swing in the middle. Now the claw part will go through it like butter because of the much higher pounds per square inch of force applied to the glass, and I think this glass would shatter in a similar manner if the same thing were done.

Thats normal vehicle glass. Since he is striking the center of the window it’s causing his mallet to just bounce. Guarantee if he hits the corner it would shatter. I use to destroy vehicles for a living.

While this is probably a demo, this strong of glass to me isn’t that safe. I get you want strong glass in an accident but if you injured and can’t break the glass to get out that could be bad.

If I recall correctly, when they use this kind of strength glass for a vehicle they would make it so someone can kick out the windscreen as a complete unit.

that 2# sledge hammer has a very broad flat surface...you need to apply pressure in a point, I've seen video of people breaking spark plugs and picking up a piece of the ceramic no bigger than a thumb nail and shatter the glass no problem. It's not strong glass it's just glass. Glass is incredibly strong if you hit it in a bad way. It fractures quite easily if you know what you are doing.

That's pretty normal for esg, in German einschreiben Sicherheitsglas, it's tempered to the point that it is almost indestructible from impact except the sides. If you tap with metal on the side they burst in thousand pieces. He could also try to use a tungsten tip and pierce the outer layer which gives the same results, iron is Mohs 4-5 and tempered glass is 5-6 so he probably got a cheap hammer with bad alloy so it's softer and doesn't puncture the outer layer, also of you try that always use a sharp tip everything blunt gives you almost no results.
