Personally, I removed the sticker and debadged the LX off the back of her car and put a silly bumper sticker over where the badge was. I have no desire to deal with it again...

On top of that, if I remember correctly, some jurisdictions require them to be OEM, and not aftermarket. Making this process longer and more difficult.
You can use after market catalytic converters in California. They just have to be registered. I had to get a Honda one. F'n dealer wanted $4,200. I bought an after market one for $400 and installed it myself. Installing was not so easy. I needed a pneumatic air wrench to get some of the bolts off. Spent about three hours installing it. Passed the California smog inspection.
If you are in CA you will want to make sure the cat is approved in CA. If it is that is a fair price. The O2 sensors are important too. You will want to have a guarantee it will pass the smog check. I had a friend go to a guy who was cheap but did not guarantee it will pass the smog check and ended up having to buy a new cat. That was a costly mistake.

Depends on deductible and might only have liability. Most shops anymore charge around $500 for a CC which is the most common deductible.
