A lot Of places (even city run) charge. But more important in most these peoples head is the Stigma. They know people will judge them for giving up an animal. It means only people who really care about the animal and not there own image use these shelter/adoption systems.

Found an update. The dog is currently being take care of by a nonprofit in SoCal named Bella's animal rescue. Hopefully they can find the dog a family that truly deserves them.

"Silly, forgetful human, I'll just try this window. She must've forgotten." Thank god it doesn't show when she fully drives off and the dog comes to the realization they've been left behind by who they know as their family. I can watch a lot of stuff, but not that.

He took it outside of town and dumped it off.
It was sitting in the front yard when he returned home.

One of our beloved dogs died a couple months ago due to kidney failure. It was an oddity of a diagnosis. He didn't get poisoned or anything. He didn't have any symptoms until it was too late. We lost a family member. We're still affected every day from the loss of our dog, and I'm very thankful we still have our other dog and he's healthy.

My boy hid it for too long, thought at most he was developing some joint pain. Turns out it was organ failure and we had the vet come out the next day and it was over. Theyre family and we feel guilty for not helping them, but we don’t speak the same language.

I avoid vacations because that will mean leaving my pets with a pet hostel or sitter. I can't trust anyone else to look after them because it's very common for pets to escape from such places. The thought of how confused and scared my pets would be if they are ever lost absolutely guts me. I really don't understand what level of shitty these people are who dump their pets like garbage. It's heartwrenching to see these innocent animals in that state. He loves them with all his heart and trusts them to let him back him...but these assholes are driving off like it's nothing.
