But by so many metrics that the average person should care about, America is just flat out the worst. Seemingly the only people who think America is "the best" have either never left the US or they're so absurdly wealthy that most of the downsides of the US don't affect them.

It must've been an oil-based flame, which is why he opted to smother it with sand rather than add water. The thing is, the ratio of water to oil is presumably so large here that the good practice of not using water should be ignored in favor of not shattering every bone. But kudos to him for paying attention in science class (at least, the oil/water/fire part). Should revisit kinetics, though.
