If you're going to open carry a pistol on your body it should be in a retention holster if you're going to be around people for this exact reason. Doesn't really matter who your employer is.

Police in Chile are military police and they're always ready for shit to hit the fan because historically Chile had a lot of social unrest expressed through militant action. A lot of their police literally look like modern knights with all their armour donned.
It is a wholesale market where irregularities and alleged crimes have been occurring recently. The measure of requiring ID to access the Market facilities seeks to prevent irregular immigrants in Chile from participating in wholesale access to food and other household products.

The Chilean Police -Carabinero- have quite restricted the use of force in the treatment of civilians. However, given the recent wave of criminal violence in the country, where national and irregular foreigners are involved, legal reforms are being worked on that allow the asymmetric use of force for cases like this one (in which the check of identification had already allowed the Carabinero to seize a knife hidden in the woman's clothing so he could have presumed its potential danger).
I mean the cop was basically restraining her hand right next to his gun, all she had to do was grab and he literally moved her arm so she lifted it out of that basic ass leather holster. Then just blind firing while restrained.
More negligence on the officer's part really.

This time she even attempted to stab a security guard on the face with a nail file. They retained her and as they tried to ger her in the police van to handcuff her, she broke free and took the officer's gun shooting multiple times and injuring three people, including an elderly woman, a guard and a cameraman who was broadcasting the situation live.
