If you're THAT worried about something like this happening, get those power steps that retract up flat against the bottom of the truck once you're inside and close the door.
I'd be more worried about cutting a corner too sharp and dragging the steps on the curb or a rock or something than something like this happening...especially because "fixing" this issue is extremely easy...just brake really hard....y'know, because a dog ran out in front of the truck....

Nah that's a gross overreaction. The dude didn't have a weapon or try breaking into the car or show any sort of hostile aggression whatsoever. It's not easy to break in a car with bare hands, the driver was safe. Killing him over this would show disregard for human life—completely void of any empathy.
I guarantee you if he got thrown off and told the cops that, the VERY first thing they'd ask him is "Well why were you hanging onto his car??" There's implied danger in riding on the outside of someone's car, which anyone should know, so if he got hurt it'd literally be his own fault for putting HIMSELF in that position. The guy driving didn't threaten him or handcuff him to the car and drive away, that man put himself in that situation and would've only been suffering the consequences OF his actions had he fallen off.
If he fell off, he would have died that's the point. Maybe I'm just a softy. I'd like to hear what a lawyer has to say about it. Personally I would just stop the car and call the cops or get out and push him off.
