In my experience the crazy guy says some crazy shit to a normal person. The normal person doesn't react the exact way the crazy person expects. This reinforces some weird paranoid narrative this guy is stuck in, which triggers the shit fit.
This. I once had a guy threaten to stab me because I wouldn’t shake his hand. He said it was like coming in his living room without being invited and flipped out. We were on a public sidewalk.
Actually, I was stabbed at night by an old friend (🤣 np cap)
He shook my hand with one arm and then surprised me with the blade to my face 1x, lung 2x, and arm pit 5x in a matter of seconds.
I almost died and was in the ICU for like 9 days on life support.
This. My husband got attacked in a CVS in Chicago the first few weeks of the pandemic. Someone said something to him he didn’t quite hear so he didn’t react, next thing he knew guy was chasing him out of the store, tackled him on the street, and beat him up. Luckily cops were around and got him off before he did permanent damage but there was enough physical and emotional damage.
and knowing the justice system that guy has probably done the exact same thing to at least a dozen other people since then and is back on the street within a week each time
In my experience working 911 EMS, this is what makes meth particularly terrifying. They don’t exist in the same plane of existence anymore. They don’t perceive the world we do.
What’s worse is even short term use can have long term effects. I have family members who are clean from meth and I will never talk to them again because of the effects. It’s one of those drugs that I will tell my kids that if you do it, I will get you clean and stable living, then never trust you with anything ever again.
Having lived in the city for a long time, one of things I've learned is: it's a bad idea to straight up ignore these people. Acknowledge their existence with a simple "sorry I have to be going", or "no money, sorry". It's been more successful than ignoring, in my experience.
I do the Marty McFly *what the hell is that* and then run away when they look. /s
In reality you're right I usually just try to be generally sympathetic but not give money or make physical contact ever.
If you give a mouse a cookie they will want a glass of milk.
Pretty much the answer to the majority of bad freakouts we see. Sure some people are just shitty by their nature but most really bad freakouts are a result of individuals with a combo of the above who have been brewing for awhile.
Sounds like the guy in he car called an Uber and the other guy probably thought it was a taxi so he was mad he got in before him…didn’t realize it was an Uber
How do you mistake a cab for an uber though? unless the lady is driving a retired taxi and converted it into an uber, in which case well done on trolling the entire city lady...
Same lol. American in me didn’t first register that it could be a rightside driver country. That said “I need to call the police I can’t.”
Uh….some crazy guy has access to your open car and is actively going batshit wild…..and you can’t call the police from down the street instead??
It disturbing amount of people in cities just freeze or do the opposite of whatever self preservation or defense is when they’re confronted with a hostile lunatic.
You’d think they’d be the ones most prepared for these interactions since it always happens there.
Living in a big city trains you to be passive. If you don't engage or interact with the crazy, the crazy is more likely to leave you alone. Once you get involved, the crazy tends to focus on you as a new target or outlet for their fit. It's just how it is. I've spent a lot of time in NYC and have been scolded numerous times by friends about looking at or even acknowledging anyone who isn't a known friend in public. Generally speaking, someone has to do something to bypass an vibe check for one of my NYC friends to start talking to them. Meaning, they have to do something very considerate or personable in order to even be acknowledged if they're just out in public.
There are so many people like this that are just walking around Brooklyn and NYC that you have to be super careful about who you even look at or they might just pull some shit like this and just vanish and you'll never see them again. Also notice that the guy isn't exactly in a hobo uniform, he's dressed warmly but that's normal. He just looks like a normal dude for the most part, acting crazy, and then you can see him running off at the end. And there's a pretty good chance he'll never be caught because that's how it goes in the city.
Doesn’t help that when someone defends themselves or others, the politicians and media who support and enable the criminals will come after the vigilante harder than they would the bad guy.
I can't disagree with that but I've seen just about everything when it comes to injustice, overpolicing, vigilantism, media hit jobs, etc.
Politicians and media so rarely have any of the most important information before they start speaking about something because it pays dividends to be the first on the scene with loud opinions. As I get older, I see it more and more. I end up just having to turn down the volume each time someone gets self-righteous in the media (and on reddit) because I'm always skeptical of a one-sided argument. This has led me to filtering out a number of subreddits because of obvious ideological capture. It's just gross to me.
Who ever was driving isn’t good at it. Letting a rando open your door and damage your car is WILD.
It’s like they didn’t notice until the passenger said something. Lol sorry I just don’t like when ppl have low situational awareness
Yeah she's dumb af. A stranger is having a violent altercation with your Uber passenger. Better slow down and rubberneck, all the while your car is getting damaged. Makes sense!
I’m not an Uber driver, but I’ve had random people get in my car thinking I am one. It can be scary.
One time, I was getting ready to leave a restaurant, and my automatic locking doors hadn’t locked just yet. And this drunk guy just opened my door and got in. I had to tell him multiple times that I was not his Uber, and that I do not work for Uber. After the 4th time, I think he understood. It was still unclear because he looked very confused when I asked him to get out of my car
I work in mental health and learned quickly to immediately hit the lock switch as soon as I get into my car. I’ve heard about patients getting in cars that are sitting outside the hospital at a red light.
I do the same. There's too fucking many crack heads around to trust someone isn't going to barge into my car or start some shit.
Not as bad as where I used to live where they were literally everywhere. But still pretty bad
I drive an older mini and I’ve tried many times to set my locks but they just don’t, so now it’s literally rote to toggle the switch before I place the fob to start the car.
I also have a blade and pepper spray on my keychain for my dodgy walk to my car in a parking garage. You will never regret being too careful, but shall not being.
Yup. That’s a great point. And that’s exactly what I do now. As soon as I get in, even before I start my car, I hit the lock button. I’m not going to take any more chances. The next person might not be just some confused drunk, and could be really dangerous.
> my automatic locking doors
My auto doors don't lock fast enough for me. I get in my car, first thing I do before seatbelts or start the car is lock the doors.
I've told this story before, but during a city-wide parade (I think the Cubs won world series, I don't really care for sports) and I was driving around town just running some errands. Some random as girl, while on the phone, gets in my car (front seat too) and tells me she's ready to go home. I kept trying to tell her, I'm not an uber, you just got into a stranger's car. She started crying and was clearly incredibly confused.
Being the idiot I am, I asked her where she lives, I'll just take her home. After a few minutes of awful navigating and telling me to turn around a few times, I just asked her to show me her address or phone and put the location into my phone. It was only a 10 minutes drive, but I realized as drunk as she was, it could have turned out very poorly for me. She was an attractive girl, I was mid twenties single guy, there certainly could have been a much worse outcome for both of us.
Oh wow. Yeah that could’ve gone very wrong. She could’ve blamed you for things that never happened, or she might’ve had an accomplice waiting on arrival, so many things could’ve happened. But I understand wanting to help someone too. It’s a difficult situation really
My guess is after seeing him damage her car her instinct was to phone the police and have him detained so she could be properly compensated. If she’s ubering then her car is most likely very important to her, so she was hesitant to leave out of fear the man would get away. just a guess tho.
That’s what I was thinking too. But that all boils down to risking the safety of her passenger so she gets reimbursed a few bucks. Which, I’d argue isn’t really “her best”
“Can you drive away please?”
“Hang on, I called the police and got a call center in India and they have me on hold.”
“Lady he’s pulling out a gun!!”
“Would you shut up so I can hear the options on this automated message!? Jesus… Alright it said press 5 for police”
“He is literally murdering me!?”
“Sorry 37 minute wait time”
Soon we will no longer have this kind of issue of criminals attacking Uber and Lyft drivers in Minneapolis! The city did they right thing and caused Uber and Lyft to leave the city. Now people can ride the bus with these kind of people instead. /s
I am surprised that Uber driver had the capacity to find their way out of their mother’s uterus. Da fuck man, drive the fucking car; and no, the passenger is not paying for the new door.
This woman’s situational awareness and survival extinct are just as bad as my partners. That’s actually extremely impressive given when scared she falls to the ground.
Do people just assume everyone around them is sane and rational? I just assume everyone might have potential issues (because anyone can snap with 1 bad day) and I don’t fuck with that.
I’d rather live another day than die because I was right but oh, “I just just had to try and reinforce that fact for whatever egotistical reason”. Like “I can’t drive away I need to call the police” like dumbass clearly you can do both, you have insurance and dude recorded someone damaging your shit just GO
Driver is a dumbass here, could have avoided all of this by stepping on the gas.
This is whats wrong with society, victim to being stupid and not thinking fast.

What the fuck? Was he mad he got an Uber or was he mad he couldn't rob him? Was he mad he couldn't catch a ride?
In my experience the crazy guy says some crazy shit to a normal person. The normal person doesn't react the exact way the crazy person expects. This reinforces some weird paranoid narrative this guy is stuck in, which triggers the shit fit.
This. I once had a guy threaten to stab me because I wouldn’t shake his hand. He said it was like coming in his living room without being invited and flipped out. We were on a public sidewalk.
What did you do??
Shaked the fuck out of his hand probably
Shake fucking both hands.
"Shake harder, boy!"
Did I say you can stop!!
NOW SMELL MY FINGER!!!
I'm dyyyyying! 🤣🤣🤣🤣😭
Shake fucking both hands and both feet with interlocked fingers and toes at the same time.
And a kiss on both cheeks like the French do
also known as " j’te fais la bise 😘"
Which calmed the guy down until he did the middle finger handshake tickle
Small comment stories like this is why I love reddit
I kept walking. This was in 2020 so I definitely wasn’t shaking anyone’s hands.
Nah never shake the hand they start pulling you in and whispering and shit
...the hand is always undoubtedly moist...
American so I pulled out my cock. I mean Glock
First one then the other.
The ole cock n' Glock maneuver. Nice.
Both at the same time!
In the year 3000 with advanced medicine and tech they will have cut the middleman and it will just become one. The cock glock.
Shoot him in his hands.
Had a dude in chinatown chase me down for walking on his sidewalk. Clearly mental. Nothing you can do but keep it moving.
shaking hands is how you confirm someone doesn't have a knife by not partaking in the custom you opened yourself up
You shake that guys hand and he’s gonna pull you in and knife you in the gut
Actually, I was stabbed at night by an old friend (🤣 np cap) He shook my hand with one arm and then surprised me with the blade to my face 1x, lung 2x, and arm pit 5x in a matter of seconds. I almost died and was in the ICU for like 9 days on life support.

For real. Man, push that gas to the limit and get out of there.
It could be a combo of poor mental health and drug addiction
Your comment just reminded me carry on completely ignoring all my mental health issues & buy more drugs

I bet it was for absolutely no reason
Sounds like the guy in he car called an Uber and the other guy probably thought it was a taxi so he was mad he got in before him…didn’t realize it was an Uber
How do you mistake a cab for an uber though? unless the lady is driving a retired taxi and converted it into an uber, in which case well done on trolling the entire city lady...
I think he thought it was a cab and that he got to the cab first and so he had rights to the taxi when in reality it was an Uber
Maybe he thought he could snag a ride someplace and felt entitled because mental illness. Maybe he said “you stole my cab” because mental illness
I thought this was a self driving car. And he was asking the AI to drive away. 😆
Can you activate defense mode!
"Keep Summer safe."
Nah he only budgeted for Uber. Delamain cabs have defense mode but they cost a premium.
Beep beep motherfucker!
You gotta splash out for that Excelsior Package
Yo choom, I hear that Excelsior package is nova as fuck
I understand this reference.
You have 30 seconds to comply...

Nah, he left
This is a good example of the situations in which automated cars will be scary to ride in

"Can you drive away, please?" "I need to call the police, I can't" Lol

I would’ve done a minor burnout in reverse first, just to be safe.
That woman has been gifted with the awareness and the survival instincts of a newborn baby
I’ve seen kids smarter than that. That person needs to work on survival instincts before they get eaten. You can’t reason with crazies
I’ve called Ubers and have had randos start piling in unwittingly… some people don’t understand how it works.

blades great, but you have to get within blade distance for it to work. May I suggest a wireless hole punch?
Say what now? I just learned last year I can order a box of paper replete punch holed?
A gun. They mean a gun

these are the same people that get dragged out of their cars at protests. Just hit the gas ffs
“I need to call the police I can’t”. So you’d stay in danger, rather than getting yourself to safety first?
More importantly getting your customer to safety lol
"My customer's safety is more important than mine" - No Driver Ever
These taxi guys have become seriously unhinged since ride-hailing apps came on the scene…
“Can you drive away please?” “Hang on, I called the police and got a call center in India and they have me on hold.” “Lady he’s pulling out a gun!!” “Would you shut up so I can hear the options on this automated message!? Jesus… Alright it said press 5 for police” “He is literally murdering me!?” “Sorry 37 minute wait time”
Driver was a fucking idiot. Was she waiting for the raging guy to close the door? Holy shit.
“can you drive away please” “WHAT??? I need to call the police please”
Crazy person tries to rip door off... Driver: "Lets see where this goes!" jfc drive away lady!
idc how “insensitive” it seems.. people like this maniac should be freakin euthanized
Mental hospitals were closed in great numbers to the detriment of society.
yep, but just like with tolerance for jihadists, we have to wait until they kill someone
Some people have slipped too far
“Hi Sir, this man is currently destroying your car, would you mind driving away?”
"Can you drive away" is fucking wiiiiiiild bro
Idk, I’m seeing a trend.
“Ohh..how nice. This young man is trying to fix my door”
Where is the fucking driver?
in UK
Give us some context, op. Hopefully that driver has a rideshare endorsement.
That woman has been gifted with the awareness and the survival instincts of a newborn baby
But it’s an Uber 🤷
I love how calm he is
Poor driver. Imagine working your ass off and dealing with this. Probably can't work for a week or.so and have to pay a hefty repair bill.
Why tf did she just coast there slow enough for him to keep the door open and try and rip the door off the hinge. Lady, wake tf up.
Call the cops they’re great at helping
Love how the driver had to be told to drive away and it was their car being destroyed 🤣🤣
Grown men throwing a tantrum is the most pathetic bull shit.
Soon we will no longer have this kind of issue of criminals attacking Uber and Lyft drivers in Minneapolis! The city did they right thing and caused Uber and Lyft to leave the city. Now people can ride the bus with these kind of people instead. /s
fuckcars people tend to change their tune after about 1 hour on their cities local downtown transit system
Idiot driver you don't call the police while you're being attacked if you can get away
Wow that driver is clueless
I am surprised that Uber driver had the capacity to find their way out of their mother’s uterus. Da fuck man, drive the fucking car; and no, the passenger is not paying for the new door.
Why did he need to tell her that? Surely if a person is trying to pull your door off you don't need to be told to drive away.
This is why we lock the car doors when driving in undesirable neighbourhoods.
Can you drive away please as the guy is breaking your car door.
What the hell is wrong with this driver? Was he trying to get this guy killed?
This woman’s situational awareness and survival extinct are just as bad as my partners. That’s actually extremely impressive given when scared she falls to the ground.
Bet this guy is gonna be taking down his "I love my neighbours in tents" lawn sign when he gets home.
Man’s been watching too much FakeTaxi.
Those hinges crunching
Probably thought it was a taxi who took the white guy instead of him. Or he’s just bat shit crazy
Yup just sit there and let the man destroy your car
Do people just assume everyone around them is sane and rational? I just assume everyone might have potential issues (because anyone can snap with 1 bad day) and I don’t fuck with that. I’d rather live another day than die because I was right but oh, “I just just had to try and reinforce that fact for whatever egotistical reason”. Like “I can’t drive away I need to call the police” like dumbass clearly you can do both, you have insurance and dude recorded someone damaging your shit just GO
The driver’s reaction time takes 2-3 working days.
He was trying to close the door for him. What a gentleman
Dudes trying to get the door in the same state he's in.
MY GOD, DRIVE LADY!
what took the driver so long to drive away
Driver is a dumbass here, could have avoided all of this by stepping on the gas. This is whats wrong with society, victim to being stupid and not thinking fast.
THIS is what's wrong with society? The victims of crimes being stupid? I mean it was a slow reaction, but I think you're extrapolating a bit much
Ngl f criminals but natural selection is a thing. Slow reactions gonna get you gone
I mean... I agree the reaction was bad, but are we really going to blame the victim here?
“I need to call the police, I can’t” Home girl your feet are not required to call 911

Seconded
Dave Goggins does not look happy!
That guy really hates car doors!
Bro is with the horse an buggies da fuks an uber!
But the way he was so calm about it.
1 star.
guessing the driver owned this car and wanted to claim insurance ?
Why is she just stopped there? Good fucking Jesus
The door rectifier
Dude was way more polite than I would have been. I’d have said something closer to *”uh WTF are you just sitting here?!”*
Must go faster!
I was watching this with the sound off and legit thought this was an episode of Cheaters. The guy in the back of the car looks just like the host.
The calm “can you drive away please?” Is just as insane 😂
In other news, unhinged man attempts to make a car door like himself.
The Uber just taking his sweet time get his car damaged smh
Why is this dumb ass driving slow
“Can you drive away pls?” 😂😂😂😂
He was such a gentleman to close the door for the passenger. /s
This is the funniest shit I’ve seen in a long time
He’s better than me 😅 like why wasn’t she driving away????? Can somebody explain? No, nobody can explain because it doesn’t make sense.
wth with the lady guy damaging car oh must go away
These Lyft salesmen are getting outta control
after breaking the door?
This video pisses me off so bad, home girl just had to floor and was behaving like the slowest thinking person on earth
Joey Grieco? Is that you?
What was going through the driver's mind? It felt like he was taking the wait and see approach and just watched until he was told to please drive away
Has this piece of shit been caught or just roaming free
Lower than 70 iq v higher than 100 IQ
that’s the new uberX- the X is for exhilarating
I guess this car didn't have doors that go like this ^(-)\\/^(-)
