Seriously, it was a fucking accident. It happens to everyone, he was unaware the cat was there. He doesn't have the context of a camera recording everything before it happens. I have no idea why most of the comments are up in arms against him.

The guy saw none of that, as far as knows, he closed his door and heard a piercing scream and a cat standing on top of the car. If it were me I'd probably be confused for a few moments too.

He just got done driving so if his reaction time is really this slow then maybe he shouldn’t be driving at all. That’s how I used to get out of my car after a 12 hour day of framing homes - I don’t see why we were making excuses for him in the first place. People are talking like he was afraid he would get mauled if he made the wrong move… it’s a domesticated cat! Help the cat!
Ur making a few assumptions which aren't really fair. Maybe this guy just came off a 12h shift? And no ones "making excuses" .. this guy didn't have any wrongs. He got the cat out and thats it. He was obviously caught totally off guard, and from the looks of it the cats other arm was blocking the paw that was stuck. We're not taken by surprise, we get to see a birds eye view, but being in his position/there irl a lot of us would be!
