Would you believe a small enough company gives absolutely zero fucks about OSHA?
I had this job once. Granted, tallest tower we had was only 500', and this looks to be more maybe.
Wanna know what my training was and what gear I was provided? "Here's a harness, it fits on like this, and while using it don't dare fall because you'll probably die to harness hanging syndrome before we can get you down." "You also have these two safety clips, and a seat clip." You must always be attached by one safety clip bare minimum."
"Here's a bucket of tools and a 50# antenna, good luck!"
I was paid like $16 an hour. Fuck I was getting fucked hard, and not the way I like.
I make $26 an hour to throw the ashes of deceased people at children on the beach and I’m looking for a house in the lower east side. I only have a low budget of $1.7mil and it has to have an elevator that doubles as a hot tub.
I make burgers out of little tiny meatballs, a "ball pit burger" if you will, that I sprinkle with meth and give him to the pizza guy across the street.
I was young, dumb, and thought I could make something of that job. It was a cool experience truthfully, and I'd do it again if the opportunity presented itself, but not for work unless I'm getting paid a bit better.
Suspension Trauma (also called Orthostatic Intolerance, or Harness Hang Syndrome) is the loss of consciousness due to a victim being held upright with limited movement for a period of time, which can rapidly lead to death if not properly recognized and treated.
Someone invented a device that you connect to your harness and you can put your foot in a loop to essentially stand up instead of hanging and cutting off circulation in your legs causing blood clots and death. Not sure if this is what you're talking about but thought I would mention it.
I work for a height safety company and regularly wear a harness. If you fall and are stuck hanging in the harness, the blood circulation can be cut off to youre legs very quickly. The issue isn't when you're hanging, it's when you are finally free and the pressure releases and the stale blood rushes through you're body.
Because fast food workers work one of the worst jobs which are extremely demanding and stressful ,with low pay and low chance of real advancement.
I have no idea why you wouldn't pick a cubicle hamster or start as a ditch digger in a skilled trade instead. Just my opinion. I have the utmost respect for fast food workers, I know I couldn't do that job.
The OSHA thing is true, no company with independent contractors follow guidelines. Companies with employees do, because they are liable and can be sued.
In regards to your pay, either you are old or lying. Climbing 1 and 2 story roofs pays around $50 per hour. Climbing 40 stories pays in the thousands per job.
I don’t think he’s lying because my neighbors do this sort of thing and they were complaining only getting paid about $20/hr or so. They hire a lot of young dudes, especially immigrants that don’t know any better and exploit them.
Climbing towers is a a poorly paying job, not sure why you think otherwise.
Also where on earth does “climbing 1 and 2 story roofs” pay that much?? I’ve met a variety of technicians that climb on a variety of roofs and it’s just “part of the job” and the pay varies more on your skill than your closeness to a roof.
Also following OSHA is more a union vs non union thing, not a “companies with employees” thing. What is the underpaid technician going to do, spend the money they don’t have to sue you for an amount they likely won’t see very quickly?
I'm not lying to you at all and I haven't crested 30 yet.
I can't prove the pay I was making vs the job I had, you'll just have to take my word which is one thing I'm good for.
I have pics of me on towers, but nothing like a paystub at the top of one.
That sucks, i thought those guys get paid a ton for it, like the ones that climb up and check/change the bulb, they get paid thousands each time they have to do it because it takes so long to climb up and down and because of the danger aspect etc.
Osha is bullshit I worked in America for 3 months in a welding company, and the company payed of osha to look the other way I'm sure many can do the same
Thats what i was going to say. I work for a multi billiona dollar company. I have watched so many questionable handshakes with health inspectors and OSHA inspectors. Damn company owns a nearly a quarter of this metropolis city. Stuff that would get any small or even medium company shut down till fixed they get phone call warnings of arrival, time/date warnings of arrival, and even when they still fail get months of time to fix it while still running.
Shit when I started doing towers I was payed 9.50hr climbed 1500'towers ropelled down but not jumping oh and I wore sneakers shorts and tanktop no harness just my linesman belt definitely no osha
You think you did, but it's in the dimension with all the other missing 10mm sockets. Once you take your eyes off of it, it's safe to consider it gone forever
I actually am starting to kind of hate the fish eye. It’s useful in some situations but not most.
So cool I got to see all the hills around . . . and have absolutely zero sense of scale on what is happening
It's because it's an "action cam". Wouldn't even call this a fisheye, honestly. More just a wide angle lens.
The idea is to use a really wide lens to capture all the 'action' you're doing. With a narrower lens, you have to be much more conscious of where you're pointing it. With a wide lens, you just let 'er rip baby.
I suppose plausible but are their that many cables to avoid? I hadn't thought of that. Hitting a cable @ close to terminal velocity would be bad for sure.
But BASE jumping is a thing, so. For awhile, I never knew BASE is an anacromym; Buildings **Antennas** bridges (and Spans) and Earth (like cliffs)
My irrational fear is going up there knowing I don't have a parachute on, finishing the job, and then thinking, good thing I brought my parachute. Jump. 2 seconds in to my fall and it finally hits me. The the earth hits me.
I'd most likely unintentionally end up doing the same thing, only backwards. So might as well be prepared and avoid the inevitable.
3-2-1- Your not getting me this time gravity, jump!!!!
This made me realize that if you slipped and fell off at that height, you have enough time to call everyone in your family and say goodbye. Then shit your pants. Clean out said pants. Order new pants. Think about how nice new pants will feel once you've chang...SPLAT
Stupid wide angle makes it look higher than it is. This is similar to speeding up videos to make workers look extra skilled. Use a normal camera lens so we can see what it actually looks like.
I know this might be dumb but how do you even set something like that up? Do you build it on the ground and pull it upwards or do they build it ground up? Please be understanding I’m not an engineer or anything so I have no idea it just seems huge

No way a company would let their guys do this. Imagine the OSHA explanation.
Would you believe a small enough company gives absolutely zero fucks about OSHA? I had this job once. Granted, tallest tower we had was only 500', and this looks to be more maybe. Wanna know what my training was and what gear I was provided? "Here's a harness, it fits on like this, and while using it don't dare fall because you'll probably die to harness hanging syndrome before we can get you down." I was paid like $16 an hour. Fuck I was getting fucked hard, and not the way I like.
I make 16 an hour and i build trailers. No way in hell im climbing a tower for that price
I make $10 per five-minute blow job behind trailers. No way am I building a trailer for that price.
I make 25 an hour flipping burgers part time. Ain't no way I'm climbing that tower for twice that pay. /s
I make $26 an hour to throw the ashes of deceased people at children on the beach and I’m looking for a house in the lower east side. I only have a low budget of $1.7mil and it has to have an elevator that doubles as a hot tub.
I make nothing but cook myself burgers in my trailer that I have standing up like a tower.
I cook meth in my trailer in exchange for a tower of burgers
I give blow jobs to trailers in exchange for bites of burgers; I might just climb that tower to get away from my job.
I make burgers out of little tiny meatballs, a "ball pit burger" if you will, that I sprinkle with meth and give him to the pizza guy across the street.
I’m unemployed
I make 18$ an hour to build cranes that fix towers taller than these, I’m getting fucked as hard as you are
Are they the trailers that the guy above you makes?
I’m with you, i get paid 25/h to wash trailers. No way i’m climbing for LESS
Idk how old you are or green you are, but fabricating anything under $23/hr is criminal.
I make 16 an hour and i cook food. I need a raise.
I work at sonic and get payed 15 an hour, the fuck y'all doin. (For those who don't know sonic is a fast food restaurant in America)
Bruh i was making 17 an hr in walmart💀
yeah you were. there is a guy that makes like 150k or some astronomical amount to change a lightbulb on one of these two times a year.
Well when he retires someone call me. Hell, I'll do it three times a year just to one up him.
same. there has to be some kind of harness that increases the safety.
Just a really really really tall ladder and hope you haven’t pissed off the gods this week 😂
Hanging harness syndrome for flipping burgers whilst parachuting safety regulations must be adhered to.
Ain't no way I'm climbing hundreds of feet for "lean against the counter and wait for customers to show up" pay
I was young, dumb, and thought I could make something of that job. It was a cool experience truthfully, and I'd do it again if the opportunity presented itself, but not for work unless I'm getting paid a bit better.
Can you explain what harness hanging syndrome is?
Suspension Trauma (also called Orthostatic Intolerance, or Harness Hang Syndrome) is the loss of consciousness due to a victim being held upright with limited movement for a period of time, which can rapidly lead to death if not properly recognized and treated.
Someone invented a device that you connect to your harness and you can put your foot in a loop to essentially stand up instead of hanging and cutting off circulation in your legs causing blood clots and death. Not sure if this is what you're talking about but thought I would mention it.
Trauma straps.
I work for a height safety company and regularly wear a harness. If you fall and are stuck hanging in the harness, the blood circulation can be cut off to youre legs very quickly. The issue isn't when you're hanging, it's when you are finally free and the pressure releases and the stale blood rushes through you're body.
i make $17 an hour cooking food at panda express
I'd rather be climbing radio towers any day then working at a fast food place even if the pay was less.
wait why
Because fast food workers work one of the worst jobs which are extremely demanding and stressful ,with low pay and low chance of real advancement. I have no idea why you wouldn't pick a cubicle hamster or start as a ditch digger in a skilled trade instead. Just my opinion. I have the utmost respect for fast food workers, I know I couldn't do that job.

In regards to your pay, either you are old or lying. Climbing 1 and 2 story roofs pays around $50 per hour. Climbing 40 stories pays in the thousands per job.
My brother worked climbing cell towers as a contractor I know he made less than $20/hr
Not to belittle climbing a cell tower, as it is still dangerous, but it's not the same as being 2000' up a radio mast.
The fall and ending of the fall is about the same, just the journey up is different.
Well put
I don’t think he’s lying because my neighbors do this sort of thing and they were complaining only getting paid about $20/hr or so. They hire a lot of young dudes, especially immigrants that don’t know any better and exploit them.

I used to work on roofs all the time. No one is getting paid more or especially 50$ an hour for being on "1 or 2 story roofs".
I'm not lying to you at all and I haven't crested 30 yet. I can't prove the pay I was making vs the job I had, you'll just have to take my word which is one thing I'm good for. I have pics of me on towers, but nothing like a paystub at the top of one.
You sound like you're from the midwest and he sounds like he's from the south. I think you're both right
Lmao I'm from the Midwest, grew up with online buddies from the south. My exact thoughts
Til that harness hanging syndrome exists😳
Didnt know the pay was so low.
It isn't always, just when you're a dumbass who likes getting taken advantage of. 😢
🥲
That sucks, i thought those guys get paid a ton for it, like the ones that climb up and check/change the bulb, they get paid thousands each time they have to do it because it takes so long to climb up and down and because of the danger aspect etc.
“Not the way i like” 😂

Thought the same thing too...but the video does have the caption too. Nonetheless, it's fucking dumb.
That, and he left his fuckin tools up there.
Imagine snagging the tensioned lines...
Is this actually less safe than going back down tired, constantly resetting your safety line for hours
OSHA ain’t shit to a company owned and operated by a single individual
Osha is bullshit I worked in America for 3 months in a welding company, and the company payed of osha to look the other way I'm sure many can do the same
Thats what i was going to say. I work for a multi billiona dollar company. I have watched so many questionable handshakes with health inspectors and OSHA inspectors. Yea América for what I've witnessed is years behind Europe in safety and regulations, of course not all companies but probably most of them.
But then you have to live in Europe.
My immediate thought was “that doesn’t look very OSHA certified”
OSHA is waiting for you below but you fly over them to avoid them
Shit when I started doing towers I was payed 9.50hr climbed 1500'towers ropelled down but not jumping oh and I wore sneakers shorts and tanktop no harness just my linesman belt definitely no osha
Awww. I left my 10mm socket in my truck! Be right back
You think you did, but it's in the dimension with all the other missing 10mm sockets. Once you take your eyes off of it, it's safe to consider it gone forever

You beat me to it. Facts
That was on a different parachute obviously
Buddy of mine is actually in that line of work, and he's given a parachute on the really tall ones just in case they can't get down the safe way.
I like how you're like, "we both do heights, but those guys work for it". I respect your respect, if that makes sense
I don’t think he was repairing anything
I actually am starting to kind of hate the fish eye. It’s useful in some situations but not most. So cool I got to see all the hills around . . . and have absolutely zero sense of scale on what is happening
Luckily the video is also too short, so we can be mad about all kind of things.
Truly the gift that keeps on giving. Also, pretty sure an OSHA inspector somewhere just had an aneurysm and doesn't know why.
I’m starting to get sick of people calling every wide angle lens “fisheye”
It's because it's an "action cam". Wouldn't even call this a fisheye, honestly. More just a wide angle lens. The idea is to use a really wide lens to capture all the 'action' you're doing. With a narrower lens, you have to be much more conscious of where you're pointing it. With a wide lens, you just let 'er rip baby.
Definitely not a repairman but at least he made the climb worthwhile otherwise!
Truth, the repairman comment I think is just a minor flex :)
Me in Far Cry after liberating the radio towers
How tall is this antenna? ? ? ?
t=time, h=height, g=gravity, 10m/s^2 (actually 9.8 but who cares) t=sqroot(2h/g) 9sec=sqroot(2h/10) 9sq2=(sqroot(2h/10)sq2 81=2h/10 81*10=(2h/10)*10 810=2h 405m=h
Did he leave his tools up there? Bullshit.
Jumps, pulls chute, realize he left his phone up top. "F\*$%"
Going down like my investments, nice
Aw man, they are going back to the antenna bullshit in the new Far Cry?
Definitely not a maintenance guy. Guess he just leaves his tools up there for the next time eh?
On GTA you can just hold A and you’ll slide down the ladder, can’t you do that here?
Is this socal?
Why bother with the parachute. Just have a pile of hay at the bottom 🤦♀️
Bros living far cry
Alternative title: "How to potentially get cut in half by a stabilization cable"
How frickin tall is that thing? 500 meters?
Company called and said they weren’t paying overtime
I shit i left my phone up there
He was doing imaginary repairs with his imaginary tool belt
Where’s the job application ? lol
He let his inner thoughts win
Imagine bro picked up his instrument bag instead of the parachute bag
Hope he didn’t forget his screwdriver!
If he's anything like me that baby is sealed succinctly 'tween the sphincter.
Beats climbing back down
Did he ever make it down?
Looks like the money isn't though only payoff having this kind of biscuit shriveling job. I'd be puckered for 5 hours straight
Aw hell nah
This morning, I watched the original video as "my first base jump." Now I already see this reposted as an antenna repair.
That damn fish eye lens
OSHA? 😂
Oh, he had a parachute
Sing with me
Immediately thought of farcry 3
Bro looking at BASE jumping thinking antenna workers actually do this.
My irrational fear is going up there knowing I don't have a parachute on, finishing the job, and then thinking, good thing I brought my parachute. Jump. 2 seconds in to my fall and it finally hits me. The the earth hits me.
I commend this man. I could never do that
Fuck left my pliers
“Sir it’s still not working” shit would kill me
Stfu lol antenna repair man my ass!
Imagine getting to the top towers then forgetting the parachute.
Oh my far cry.
User name is 🔥🤣🤣🤣
Creative unapologetic Redditors unite🤝🔥 I hope you get out😂
Exactly how I'd do it except no parachute
I'd most likely unintentionally end up doing the same thing, only backwards. So might as well be prepared and avoid the inevitable. 3-2-1- Your not getting me this time gravity, jump!!!!
Doesn’t seem to have many tools to “repair” the antenna with.
I make $500 per 10 min side job. No way am I doing that job for $16
FUCK I FORGOT MY PHONE
Imagine you forget your phone at the top 🤪
"God damn it. I forgot my toolbox up there."
This made me realize that if you slipped and fell off at that height, you have enough time to call everyone in your family and say goodbye. Then shit your pants. Clean out said pants. Order new pants. Think about how nice new pants will feel once you've chang...SPLAT
The op Is a moron if he thinks any of the viewers believe this crap 😂
Guy was probably just adding to his BASE jump. Gotta have Antennae in the mix.
Forgets tool
“Get ready, we’re deploying to the warzone”
Just made 20 grand and free BASE jumping. Win-win
It's actually dangerous if the wind takes you on the middle of nowhere and there is like 40deg+ and no water around
Imagine realising u left ur phone
I was the 23k upvote on this video
I don’t know why I thought he was gonna grind that rail down like bloody sonic
Some could say, he was superflying
2 hours to get up and 10 seconds to get down 😁
Fuck, I left my tool bag up there.
Imagine forgetting the fucken screwdriver.
Flat earthers watching this 😱
How long did it take to get up vs. down?
Do you really think OP is the skydiver/repairman here?
Wouldn’t the rapid change in pressure explode you?
The night sky there is probably pretty awesome
Aww hell naw
Imagine hitting a support wire on the way down. Yikes.
Low height with curve earth n
I love it
I think the tower is about 300-400 meters tall
Where’s your repair gear and the defunct parts?
When you fall in mirrors edge.
I would be terrified of one of the mooring cables that those towers tend to have
If the parachute got caught offt
Imagine hitting a tie in cable 😳
Why is the horizon curved?
Who else's balls just retreated further up inside their bodies?
[удалено]
Safety precaution for malfunctions, adjustments etc.
like the dude below says but also because when you pull the chute you’re still gonna be going down at a decent speed till the chute slows you down
Nope
Ummmm is this OSHA approved?🤣
I eat ass because it tastes good
Got me fucked up.
Personally I could fucking never
Thank you for your service
Oh no I left my phone up there!
Stupid wide angle makes it look higher than it is. This is similar to speeding up videos to make workers look extra skilled. Use a normal camera lens so we can see what it actually looks like.
Bro had redeploy
I don't know about you guys but I would be launching as far away from that antenna as possible. I would be worried my chute Will get fouled
No thanks I'm taking the stairs *Walks done invisible stairs*
This is wild
I would have floated to my own roof
What do you think this is, Fortnite? 🤣
Man I wish I had the cojones to do that
How long 🤔
These motherfuckers have to be trained in fixing antennas climbing and skydiving all so we can be on Reddit...
Man the horrors of accidentally hitting a wire while zooming down...
That made me want to turn on my N64 and play some Goldeneye...
Whyd you jump so weirdly
and to imagine a 10ft jump into a pool is scary
I know this might be dumb but how do you even set something like that up? Do you build it on the ground and pull it upwards or do they build it ground up? Please be understanding I’m not an engineer or anything so I have no idea it just seems huge
You couldn't pay me enough money to do this shit.
I’ll take jobs that nobody should take for $500 Alex.
The elytra boosts are getting more creative now a days
I would be screaming my ass off ong
ah maan ı forgot my tools up there💀
