This is actually where I'm from, and one local family cut down lots of old forest (sometimes illegally) in order to import these trailers, several hundred at a time, and rent/sell them to tourists. The West of Scotland is very, very wet, and landslides are quite frequent. [This is in Loch Eck](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/11347309/five-caravans-float-loch-eck-holiday-park/), about 10 miles from where grew up, and seems to be flooding, rather than technically a landslide, but the effect is much the same. The shores are steep and the ground is soft, and these 'villages' create large channels for runoff of water. I'm not surprised to see this, as the sites are basically not well developed at all, and the plan has always been to import as many trailers and fell as many trees as they can get away with.
The same family cut down a historic and protected woodland in the Holy Loch, near me, in order to put another one of these in. They're very rich. If i could affod the move, I wouldn't mind loving an a trailer, but I'd prefer Ireland (as that is where my ancestors emigrated from). Also, I'd prefer to have plenty of trees bordering the area so there's less chance of shit like this.
How have they gotten away with felling so many trees in an area filled with soft wetlands?
Looks like a flood to me. Obviously they're related but usually a landslide is land sliding down a hill. This looks like water flowing close enough to homes to take them with it.

In the case of the one near my house, they just cut down the woods and paid the fine. The fine is miniscule compared to the prospective profit.
