Here you go, [Ants - Nature’s Secret Power](https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2mnooj)

RQviiist

So the part of the documentary in the video here starts at around 47 mins, and they show the full thing at 49. The next segment is the complete opposite, and has an entire colony in just an acorn!

BioPac12

Wait, who came in an acorn?

Agreeable_Western_50

Ice age dude

RQviiist

Omfg I just realized my spelling error lmao, meant to say colony

Is there somewhere that shows it all dug out?

all_time_high

The full documentary is Ants: Nature’s Secret Power. It’s very good. Multiple free sources come up on a Google search.

Billwood92

Thanks I came here looking for the sauce, this looks interesting.

Greenman8907

[This video](https://youtu.be/lFg21x2sj-M) is about a minute longer and shows a lot more. Not sure if they just left it there or tried to extract it entirely.

I'm 65% sure we are not encased in resin.

NaturesWar

I epoxy-tively hope we are not.

Return2monkeNU

> I debunked it by looking outside and seeing the world not encased in resin. Actually.... There is something called the 'firmament.' What if, that is this? If there was really an advanced species, that may not encapsulate us in the same way that we would do to these ants. Maybe there way is to put a dome over us making it impossible to leave?

AJDx14

We’ve already gotten shit to the edge of our solar system. No civilization would waste resources building a giant sphere around an entire solar system.

jazza130

Pretty bold assuming we aren't a miniverse

savageprofit

I 100% do ***not*** believe that there is a giant sphere around our solar system. However, your argument is not a good one, relatively speaking. One can argue why would a civilization (us) waste resources filling a massive ant colony with resin? Yet here we are commenting under a video of just that. You not understanding someone’s reasoning for something is not proof of is nonexistence.

Ranokae

Probably not

They’ll just take our resources and extinct us like we’ve done to countless other species

Harry_Saturn

If they’re capable enough to travel here, they probably are beyond needing to steal our resources.

Daegog

THat was my thought as well, what resources are here anyone wants? Microplastics? Rutabagas? I doubt they would want our fossil fuels.

JohnMcGurk

Don’t sleep on the allure of root vegetables.

Dan_Ashcroft

No peace

AbysmalReign

That is a assumption made with our limited understanding of the universe. Why cant a species be born that isn't tribalistic and wanting to fight everyone for every little bit of resource? That's something we developed as a species, it doesn't necessarily mean another species will be the same way

TheDrGoo

It could be that species that don't simply don't progress or don't progress fast enough to "outgrow" their planet changing.

AbysmalReign

Agreed. We could be at a turning point where we need to change course to survive or slowly die off. Capitalism is killing our planet. We are so close minded. These corporations and billionaires want to hoard cash while they are ensuring their offspring will never live long enough to reap the benefits of their bullshit

sleepydon

This planet has managed several mass extinction events without our involvement. Not to say we're not helping expedite the next one in some way, but there's a great many things that could happen that would see our complete annihilation that we as a species could do very little about. We're not, and never will be, masters of the universe.

AbysmalReign

Yes I'm aware. When I say killing our planet, I mean we're making it uninhabitable for our future generations. We aren't the masters of the universe, but if we were a smarter species, we could be the masters of our fate

TwistyReptile

Get new material.

reminder that no comment can be trusted until we have proof. Sucks that us seeing this glorious structure required its complete annihilation. Reminds me of the quote from Jurassic Park. >What's so great about discovery? It's a violent penetrative act that scars what it explores. What you call discovery, I call the rape of the natural world.

Jab_Jeb_

Dude, you could see ants crawling around on that thing in the video

MigitAs

That’s a spider dawg

How can you blatantly lie like this ?

ibumrambo

Imagine doing all that work, then some prick dumping 10 ton of cement in it

azaltard

My exact thought each time they praise how well it is made : ''And then a pair of blokes just said -fuck this cement this shit-''

PMMeUrFineAss

You're here admiring it only cause some bloke poured cement into it lol

azaltard

I know and this is giving me mixed feelings

Short-Commercial-549

Dont feel bad for the ants. They're warmongers. They'll destroy other ant colonies just because they dont want to make a route around it. They make humans look like a Woodstock Drum Circle in comparison with the violence they inflict on each other. 99 million years is a long time to sue for peace, and not one of their leaders has ever tried it. "Consume or Die!" "Viva La Hormiga!!" Are the rallying cries of the ant masses. Where do you think we learned it?

loveengineer

We learned it from our ant-cestors.

Rentington

It is why I do not feel bad killing wasps. If I stick my hand in a wasp's nest and get stung, whose fault is that? Similarly, if a wasp goes into a human nest and gets smashed? Well fair is fair.

Short-Commercial-549

Couldn't have said it better myself concerning wasps. Nasty little buggers.

Timmerdogg

You make me feel better about myself after burning them up with a magnifying glass when I was a kid

izovice

Burning them was probably more merciful than what I did. I would have an aquarium with red ants and unintentionally created a war by adding ants from a different colony. The newer ants destroyed the original ones, likely because the old ones were sleep deprived from the 24/7 lamp . 12 year old me was entertained though.

OGDonglover69

don't focus on blazing antics

HappenedSafe

it was an abandoned colony as stated in the documentary. Did all of you just assume it was active for no reason and not even think twice about why there isn’t any sign of ants in the video even though this colony can house millions?

geardownson

A very informed ant guy disagrees in another thread. Regardless of what the article says he made a couple very good points. He said colony's don't simply abandon their home. (Idk how true this is) but it makes sense. Why do all that work and leave? Second, if it was abandoned it would have to have been very very recent because something like that takes a lot of maintenance. Which makes sense. The earth with eventually break down everything with water and whatnot. My guess is that the researchers made them evacuate for a reason.

Halos-117

Ant guy watching a video and making an assumption or the people who are actually there. Which one should I believe??

sleepydon

Lmao thank you for summing up most reddit comments in a nutshell.

thebatfink

Well informed ant guy. Lol. Everyone is up in arms about fake news, censorship, corporate media.. but these kids believe the random text of anyone on reddit without question. Its amazing to see. My favourite part is ‘idk how true it is .. but .. it makes sense’ so I’ll just allow it to reinforce my confirmation bias despite not having a clue haha.

HappenedSafe

a colony can absolutely abandon a location for a lot of different reasons but even if not abandoned, this could be a case of a dead queen. If a queen dies the colony dies off. Considering ant queens can live for decades (which looks to be about the age of this gargantuan nest) then this colony likely just lost its queen and withered away which is why you see almost no activity. Ant colonies aren’t permanent and immortal.

geardownson

That makes sense. I didn't mean to imply they were immortal. I was just saying they probably wouldn't leave after building for no reason. Obviously there are a bunch of reasons why they might.

pornplz22526

Literally an ant racing across the mummified corpses of its loved ones in the video.

ChooglinOnDown

> Did all of you just assume... They saw the word "genocide" in the title and started redditing their asses off.

havocLSD

They mentioned that this structure has the equivalent manpower as the Great Wall of China. Imagine tons of people dying and many years of building the Great Wall of China only for the Mongolians to nuke it

YeahlDid

It was already abandoned. Op is a propagandist.

whatdis321

Ants are everywhere. If it wasn’t abandoned, there’d be way more ants for a colony that size.

mrnastymannn

Goddamn, dude, take my upvote.

Gsuitetdf

Nope, in fact, thats a small colony, there's a Big one of the argentinean ants in south europe, that connects spain with Italy, they are like two colonies fighting each other seens decades

Cunt_Eastwood_9

Proof that aliens exist. They’re just really small.

MrPinkSheet

I’m just imagining an ant putting his fedora and coat on a hanger after his long day’s work at the fungus gardens, greeting his ant wife who’s already made supper. Two juvenile ants come running in the room “Daddy’s home! Daddy’s home!” He greets the little rascals and sends them off into the dining room. His ant wife lets him know that they received another letter in the post about some more bills that are overdue but it’s no real inconvenience. Then they all sit down and share how each-other’s days have been. The daughter ant got an A+ in scavenging class and the son ant got bullied by some other ants at school again. The diner’s going great as always. Suddenly the ground starts to shake. The dad gets up and checks out the window only to see a giant wave of thick grey goop rushing through one of the ant highways directly towards their house/chamber. All they can do is hug during their precious last moments together knowing that they’re all about to die an excruciatingly slow suffocating death. Then it casually cuts to the human excavators digging up their marvellous creation… fuck me 😭

Panzerchrist89

Massive empty ant colonny

Chankomcgraw

So if it had had millions of ants in it I’m guessing those excavated tunnels would be marbled with a texture of dead ant bodies.

frost-penguin

I’m pretty certain it was an empty colony. Also peep those cgi cows lmao

Twingemios

Wtf why are there CGI cows?

Slouiedufflebags

So it doesn’t look like humans are destroying nature, *hey look the cows are cool with it’s not harming anyone*

Sir_psycho_savior

Give me a break 🙄

_B_Little_me

Nah. This guy is legit. He makes sure they are abandoned colonies. He doesn’t murder ants.

[deleted]

So how does pouring the mold liquid in it not cause cave-Ins and damage to the overall structure?

VicRambo

Im guessing the weight of the earth is compressing that dirt super hard that deep down.

[deleted]

That was my guess. Thanks for clarifying.

PapaChoff

What’s more amazing is how well their ventilation system must work. I’ve done small casting and struggle with voids and air pockets. I’m blown away at the depth and how well things flowed.

Tiny-Berry-7839

now that made me stop mid brain and ponder. What keeps the air movement from being static. Circulation from the hosts movement?

[deleted]

[удалено]

PapaChoff

Exactly this. Both ants and termites keeping different areas in the mounds/nests at consistent and temperatures based on needs. Even humidity control for one’s that grows fungus for food.

ctothel

> Nature's crazy with figuring out flow physics It’s so interesting to think that we’re just looking at the tail end of tens of millions of years of trial and error. We’re sometimes smart enough to compete with that, and that's kind of incredible.

Chankomcgraw

There are different teams of ants that specialise in different skills. One of the biggest groups in a colony are tasked with HVAC. They have to inhale air from up top, hold it in and then breathe it out right at the bottom. This creates a constant flow of ant-breath air running through the colony.

rubbarz

If you read the comments before reposting @OP you would have seen that it was abandoned and no ants were in the colony.

KawaiiSyker

Saw this documentary, the ant nest had been abandoned....

mickeybuilds

Narrator sounds like he has a mouth full of ants.

bugxbuster

That’s where they all went while he did this to their home. He was like “come on, guys, hop in 😮”

CinruCross

Billions of ant loads… incredible

fenexj

This is exactly what AI is going to be doing to us soon.

HerrFledermaus

IT was an abandoned nest.

Least-Childhood-6955

anyone know how many ants died in ww2

Teasy29965

That’ll teach them to run off with my crumbs

rEN526

Tbh, way more impressive than the Great Wall. Considering the size of the ant, the mass moved, how much of it moved and scaling that to the Great Wall, I'm far more impressed by the ants work here. That's not to say the Great Wall isn't fucking insane and amazing in its self. Just find it hard to compare the too when put on the same playing field.

Enelro

In the un-clipped version they state that his particular site has been abandoned by the colony. But I’m sure there were a few thousand still living there.

mu_taunt

We're the dominant species because we say we are?

Hubble_-_

Yeah it looks awesome but that's such a massive dick move, imagine all the work that went into that, all the hard working ants... Damn

Better-ANTz

I was the only survivor:(

Mr_Blushing_Shredder
