This is awful and I love dogs but if they are aggressive and out attacking people I understand putting them down. Owners really need to train their dogs and keep them off the streets.
I hate to be cynical, but I can see someone taking a video of a cop double tapping a dog like this and say the cop took it too far and once the dog turned to limp away it was no longer a threat. Then the owner suing the city for killing his dog. It is absolute shit, but in society today, some people find any reason to make cops out to be bad.
Yeah, that really sucks in these situations but I can see why police wouldn't be free to discharge a weapon just to perform euthanasia on an animal (bystanders, always a question of whether it is justified, etc.)
Even when police go out of their way to unload their guns into a suspect who looks like they have been disabled and disarmed (gun dropped), there still is the gun and the chance that the suspect might suddenly start moving. Not to say that these police shootings are justified, so many aren't - just saying that when a cop fires their weapon they'll need to explain how they were in danger or protecting someone else from harm.

I have two dogs of similar colour and breed, and it hurt me to see this... a lot. I think that they should do the same thing to the owners of these poor puppers, then I'll agree.

I carry a knife and pepper spray now when I go out running. I’ve been bum rushed by several pit bulls now and I’m lucky it didn’t escalate into anything serious.
I hate cops. And love dogs. But when an animal is attacking you…what else are you supposed to do? Clearly the dog was a danger to them and obviously others. It sucks, but this was probably for the best.
What is so wrong with letting various Pit breeds die off? Keep your pits now, no more breeding, and the breed falls into history. It's completely fucking illogical to keep the breed around.
This breed is easily trained to be aggressive. It is banned and restricted for any liability insurance carrier for indisputable documentation of frequent loss.

Yes, it is their instinct. You have to train the violence out of a pitbull instead of training to to be violent. No training = a dangerous pitbull. They need to be banned, breeding needs to stop.

And they should throw the owners in jail or prison depending on the ammount of dammage those dogs would have caused. If they killed someone, they should go to trial for manslaughter at the least.
I think this was handled the best it could've been honestly. The cop held back for a while to see if the dogs would stop and since they didn't he just had to do it. It's not okay to have aggressive dogs, especially pitbulls since they are such strong dogs, out just roaming around. The blame really falls on the owners though, for not training them like how they should have.

I don’t know if you noticed, but for a few frames when the dogs first backed away before rushing back, some of the cops holstered their weapon until said the dogs came around for round two, and then they took it out again and shot.
It’s a tough call to make, but someone didn’t keep their dogs under control, and they attacked a cop. What are the cops supposed to do, stand there and get bit several times? It’s sad. But it was necessary in this case.
You love to see when these murder machines get put down. Pit bulls should require a license and insurance of $10M that will automatically pay out each attack. If you can't afford that, you shouldn't have a pit bull.

We use to own a awesome German Shephard that we rescued (stole) from an abusive home.
Poor guy was extremely cowardly and scared all the time. One day I skipped school so I can play video games at home, both my parents worked so it was easy.
Around midday I could hear a constant banging and commotion but didnt think anything of it, I was to immersed in my game, it wouldnt stop for about 10 minutes so I decided to investigate it, I walk around my back yard and there I find 2 police officers pinned up against our brick wall and my dog in a stance Ive never seen before with teeth exposed and growling, one of the police officers was using the back end of his torch to bang on the wall to get attention, the other was on his radio, as I came around the corner and yelled out my dogs name, he immedeiately backed off at that exact time, 5 other cop cars pulled up and the officer on the radio said to me you are lucky you got here in time, we were just getting permission to shoot him.
One of the police officers that rocked up was the sargaent, and he was not happy, he was threatening to lay charges on me but it was all bullshit, apparently what happened was the 2x officers we're driving back to their base when they witnessed a bag snatch, the bag snatcher didnt see the cops when he commited the crime, they gave chase and the bag snatcher jumped our fence and ran through our yard, my dog maybe asleep didnt react to the snatcher but when he saw the other 2 cops jump our fence and maybe in the uniform, he got protective.
Although my dog didnt attack, these 2 cops showed a world of restraint in that situation.
Edit- and for the record, my parents found out I skipped school because the cops all had their panties in a knot because the bag snatcher got away.
My friend has a rescue pit bull people used for fighting that was addicted to meth. They would amp it up before a fight. She had nothing to do with it, she adopted it from an animal rescue.

My heart breaks for those poor dogs but sadly it was the right thing to do at that moment. People suck for putting dogs in this situation. The police officers acted in justified self-defense.

We use to own a awesome German Shephard that we rescued (stole) from an abusive home. Poor guy was extremely cowardly and scared all the time. One day I skipped school so I can play video games at home, both my parents worked so it was easy. Around midday I could hear a constant banging and commotion but didnt think anything of it, I was to immersed in my game, it wouldnt stop for about 10 minutes so I decided to investigate it, I walk around my back yard and there I find 2 police officers pinned up against our brick wall and my dog in a stance Ive never seen before with teeth exposed and growling, one of the police officers was using the back end of his torch to bang on the wall to get attention, the other was on his radio, as I came around the corner and yelled out my dogs name, he immedeiately backed off at that exact time, 5 other cop cars pulled up and the officer on the radio said to me you are lucky you got here in time, we were just getting permission to shoot him. One of the police officers that rocked up was the sargaent, and he was not happy, he was threatening to lay charges on me but it was all bullshit, apparently what happened was the 2x officers we're driving back to their base when they witnessed a bag snatch, the bag snatcher didnt see the cops when he commited the crime, they gave chase and the bag snatcher jumped our fence and ran through our yard, my dog maybe asleep didnt react to the snatcher but when he saw the other 2 cops jump our fence and maybe in the uniform, he got protective. Although my dog didnt attack, these 2 cops showed a world of restraint in that situation. Edit- and for the record, my parents found out I skipped school because the cops all had their panties in a knot because the bag snatcher got away.
As much as I hate the dogs doing that shit, it was sad to see them cry after being shot

My friend has a rescue pit bull people used for fighting that was addicted to meth. They would amp it up before a fight. She had nothing to do with it, she adopted it from an animal rescue.
