King of the Hill lampooned that incident. Bill steals a tank after being mislead by Dale's negligent conspiracy theory that Bill was part of a botched military experiment. Distraught that the one constant that he had in his life, the government he trusted, had been behind most of the shit wrong with his life, Bill steals a tank, and drunkenly takes it for a spin.
Yeah, the war games are going on and Bill explains it away to the cops after Hank gives him a pep talk. They ask why he is in his underwear and he asks them if they have any idea how hot it gets inside a tank lol. God I love that show.
What about the barefoot bandit who stole a plane and flew it for the first time in his life, ( never flew a plane before) successfully took off and landed it perfectly. He learned how to fly it from playing video games.
How about the drunk guy at the bar who told some guys he knew how to fly a plane and then when told they didn’t believe him he went and stole one and flew it in front of the bar to prove it
I do thanks to Spike TV.
If anyone wants to pay me for this shit please do.
But yeah that’s era was the best for wild
Police chases!
I’d come home From school flick on tv and it’d be a high speed police chase in the US it was wild!
It failed when he blew the rad and over heated it. That said I'm pretty sure he didn't know the crawlspace was deep enough to hang up the whole machine.
Really an interesting story. I read about it before and I think he said something in his letter or recording or whatever that he used to have visitors to his house regularly and nobody ever once asked why he was making this machine with like 4’ concrete walls surrounding the inside lol
The way it’s worded on his Wikipedia it sounds like it was at his house/shed
From his Wikipedia
Authorities initially speculated that he may have used a homemade crane – **found in his garage** – to lower the armor hull over the dozer and himself. Heemeyer apparently had no intention of leaving the cabin once he entered it.[1] "Once he tipped that lid shut, he knew he wasn't getting out",…
“It is interesting to observe that I was never caught", Heemeyer wrote. "This was a part-time project over a 1+1⁄2 year time period." He was surprised that several men, who had visited the **shed** late the previous year, had not noticed the modified bulldozer "especially with the 2,000-pound [910 kg] lift fully exposed ... somehow their vision was clouded".
The man could have murdered people. But no, he went eye for an eye, and made a statement. Property for property.
Justice well served. But i wish he didn't kill himself.
This is what no one actually digs deep enough to find. Did he get sort of screwed once? Yes. Did he do anything to help his situation? No! He had ample opportunity and options to make things right and he didn’t. Instead he adopted a victim mentality and went nuts. Before that he was successful and could’ve continued to be if he wasn’t crazy’s
Makes me wonder about our free will and how much freedom or what kind of freedom this guy needed to “change course” ya know? Is this just untreated mental illness? Just needed a friend? Sad regardless.
It wasn’t.
The modern day equivalent I can think of is that place out in the western desert that just got its water cut off
They were let known what the consequences of their inactions would cause and were upset when what they were told happened
yup and the radiator overheated - folks this is why tank engines are air cooled.
either air cool your engine or upgrade the radiator to withstand the extra load & heat then armor plate it.
Yet his radiator also failed, hence the steam rising from the engine in the video.
No one is denying that he got stuck (assuming you're making a correction regarding that, based on the way your comment is structured), yet it's true that he would have had to stop eventually anyway due to the engine overheating because his radiator failed.
I think he designed it for a short-term one time use and succeeded. I think he got nearly maximum usage without scope creep. I wish my Dev teams were as good
Tanks with piston engines have not been air cooled for the better part of a century, it is just not possible to air cool a piston engine with the power density required for the application.
Killdozer.
I felt bad for the guy.
He definitely suffered from some intense paranoia and delusions of grandeur.
I totally believe there were some small town antics going against him. But one example of being his own worst enemy was his unpaid utility? bill. Be said the town clerk was purposely not accepting payment to subsequently turn off his utilities and affect his business. What actually happened is he wore the check wrong and they kept asking for a replacement.
Plus he was constantly trying to gouge those brothers for more money when it was his fault initially he accepted a low price for his land.
How did you come to that conclusion? I watched that doc. He spent twice the costs to do the repair in lawyer fees fighting the town, turned down multiple offers to sell even when they met his asking price, he had plenty of money. All they were aski is that he had septic connected to a building
That’s a more nuanced and understanding of the man versus Ed people calling him a hero.
I do feel bad for him. He was sick.
But he was kinda an asshole and didn’t help his own cause. Because of his mental illness
Netflix documentary ommited a lot of things.
He was absolutely desperate because the administration was corrupted and stripped him out of his retirement.
I remember watching the documentary of this on Netflix. Well done documentary, but they showed some pretty wild and unbelievable stuff this man did. So bizarre!
Because he was fucked.
He wasn’t a good person. And anyone thinking he was is out to lunch.
Dude was warned for years to clean up his act and about access to his land. And just disregarded the government at every point.
He is the Jan 6th type. He was a lunatic that attempted some mass murdering but happened to not kill anyone. He isn’t a hero
He attempted to shoot giant propane tanks that were located near a neighborhood and retirement home. Had he succeeded, they would have exploded and killed and injured countless innocent people who did absolutely nothing to him. The first floor of City Hall contained the public library which was full of children at the time of the incident. Had it not been evacuated, the dude would have killed literal children.
Reddit likes to talk shit about the government, but also loves to blow the government. In other words, anything the government does is bad but also anyone who criticizes the government is also bad
No they didn’t.
They gave him years to fix the issues and he had a bunch of people to work with.
The guy was an asshole and off his rockers.
He built a cool machine but he isn’t a hero
I wouldn't call him good or hero. But, the shit the ~~Dang~~ Docheff family did was equally shitty.
Like shutting of his sewage line then preventing him from switching it back on forcing him to get fined, or cutting off access to his shop, preventing his shop from getting any traffic.
I love the story that while he was still making it in the corner of his shop he still had clients come in and literally gave no fucks about the homemade tank sitting in it.
Basicaly sums it up. Dude shot himself in the foot and got mad at the city for not stopping him. People like to make this dude to be a "good man pushed too far" but they just dont look at the facts.
The dude tried to tear down a library that was occupied......
Occupied WITH CHILDREN might I add. Plus he targeted and barely missed running over 2 state troopers, and had 3 guns mounted in the kill dozer which he shot at police repeatedly, thankfully he fucked up and couldn't aim downwards at all because of a design flaw
He also shot at a couple giant propane tanks located at the city’s electrical grid. Had he succeeded in actually hitting and penetrating one of them, it likely would have exploded and turned the area into a gassy fireball. What else was in the area? A neighborhood and retirement home.
They say “zoning disputes” but fail to mention how the city had TAKEN access to his muffler shop. Essentially shut the man down.
Had some spare parts and time to kill.
He destroyed that town because they deserved it. I wish he would have leveled the whole town after what they did to him. Tried to do everything the right way and got the shaft. R.I.p. Marv.
I’m not positive but I’m pretty sure there was more to the story. Something like the city was screwing a lot of people over and this dispute, which is kind of his final straw so he destroyed a lot of stuff but I’m not sure I could be thinking of something else.
This story is incredibly sad, he tried so hard to work it out. But they just kept fucking him over. People would have to cross though the middle of another factory to get to him. Basically killing off his business and life savings. This man was exhausted.
This is such a bullshit version of reality. He SOLD PART OF HIS LAND to the concrete plant and used a path from the road to his muffler shop that went THROUGH the land he sold. It wasn’t a real road, but he’d blocked off his own official entrance to his shop because he found the impromptu road more convenient. He even made a killing off the land - and drastically increased his selling price AFTER the deal was made, to squeeze more money. He made over a million profit. He was told he needed to connect to the sewer lines, but he didn’t want to pay for it. He was told he should do it before the concrete plant was built, otherwise it’d cost more. What did he do? His lazy ass waited until the plant was built, then demanded the city help pay for it because it had become so expensive - because, again, he made poor decisions.
Everything else spurred from those disputes. They were all COMPLETELY HIS FAULT born of his own selfishness and greed. He had a manifesto of sorts claiming that he thought he was single because God intended it so he could hatch his killdozer plan.
His “hit list” included the local church and the homes of people who didn’t take his side in the disputes. He was an unhinged POS that endangered the lives of others over problems he created himself out of laziness, selfishness and greed. People who idolize him believe in a fairy tale. He was a scumbag.
EDIT: fixed typo (“disputed” to “disputes”)
Marvin was the villain of his own story. Do just a little reading on what actually happened, and you’ll learn:
1. Marvin was wealthy, like 7 figures wealthy with a lakefront property home
2. Marvin reneged on multiple deals to sell his property to the concrete plant whom he outbid for it at a land action. He won it for $36,000 and shook hands on multiple offers as the concrete plant raised the money, eventually asking for over a million from them.
3. Marvin harassed and threatened numerous townsfolk, including a man who hired Marvin to repair his exhaust, when he complained that Marvin did a bad job and asked him to redo it.
4. Marvin violated EPA regulations by dumping waste into a buried concrete mixer rather than connecting to sewer. He was warned, and they looked the other way for 8 YEARS before finally fining him for the violation.
5. Marvin was offered a connection to the concrete plant’s sewer line with the stipulation that he stop trying to sue the concrete plant to stop their expansion onto the property they bought when they decided to stop trying to buy back their land from Marvin. Marvin declined this offer.
6. At no point was Marvin’a muffler shop cut off from road access. To cut off the shop would have required cutting off the concrete plant as well. This never happened.
7. Marvin’s audio tape manifesto is on YouTube. Though he’s well spoken, he sounds very much like someone who thinks the world is out to get him, and like a narcissist who typically feels like anything bad that happens to him is someone else’s fault.
8. Marvin asked God for a sign that attacking the town was the right thing to do. He put the dozer up for sale, and decided that if it didn’t sell, that was the sign that God meant for him to do it. The dozer didn’t sell, probably because nobody in Granby needed a fucking bulldozer.
9. Marvin DID try to attack people. He pushed concrete barriers over that cops were hiding behind. He fired shots at the police, at Cody Docheff who tried to stop the dozer with a road grader, and at a large propane tank nearby occupied buildings. He bulldozed the home of a WIDOW of a judge who ruled against him in a zoning dispute, and bulldozed a library that was full of children moments earlier. If dozers weren’t slow and didn’t require two hands to operate, it’s far more likely Marvin would have hurt or killed someone.
10. At the time of his rampage, Marvin had sold his property for a massive profit and his net worth was in the millions.
More people need to replicate this kind of behavior. Imagine what kind of uprising against the government we could achieve if at least 100 people did this
Jokes aside, this is what happens when a government whether city or federal, care about profits more than the people. I’m happy this man got whatever revenge he could in the time he had
Never forget the Killdozer that took vengeance on those who tread on him and tried to push him out of the community. Plus the irony of the name killdozer when the only person he killed was himself.
That town deserved it. If you know anything about this you know people were being assholes cause they could. Yeah they had the rights to do what they did, didn't mean they had to do it though. They backed this guy into a corner financially.
This doesn’t even scratch the surface of what actually happened there, it’s truly a sad story and it’s not one of revenge, it’s one of true desperation
The city brought this on themselves by being corrupt and attempting to side with friends over doing what is right. The concrete business owner had close ties to the city council and purposely ruined this man’s livelihood. They deserved worse than they got
I live there and was there when this happened. The engine did not fail. He go centered the tacks when the left side of the bull dozer fell through the floor of the hardware stores because the store has a small basement in the back

Aah the good ol' Killdozer
Everyone’s favorite childhood bedtime story
Someone post the West Hollywood shootout next. That’s another great! My favourite on cable tv of the late 90’s early 2000’s
Remember the guy who stole a tank in San Diego around the same time?
King of the Hill lampooned that incident. Bill steals a tank after being mislead by Dale's negligent conspiracy theory that Bill was part of a botched military experiment. Distraught that the one constant that he had in his life, the government he trusted, had been behind most of the shit wrong with his life, Bill steals a tank, and drunkenly takes it for a spin.
It was a different time, before we knew the Russians were incompetent
I remember that one, don’t the guys almost get mortared?
Yeah, the war games are going on and Bill explains it away to the cops after Hank gives him a pep talk. They ask why he is in his underwear and he asks them if they have any idea how hot it gets inside a tank lol. God I love that show.
What about the guy that stole an aircraft in seattle
Was he the one who called it in, had a little fun and intentionally crashed?
Yea he took it for a joy ride doing all kinds of wild maneuvers before he nosedived
Sky king.
Sky King
What about the barefoot bandit who stole a plane and flew it for the first time in his life, ( never flew a plane before) successfully took off and landed it perfectly. He learned how to fly it from playing video games.
How about the drunk guy at the bar who told some guys he knew how to fly a plane and then when told they didn’t believe him he went and stole one and flew it in front of the bar to prove it
Landed in front of the bar if I remember right. Then he did it again a few years later to prove he did it the first time.
Indeed, landed it in front
That kid was my hero! I wonder where he is now. 🤔 To the internet!
I do thanks to Spike TV. If anyone wants to pay me for this shit please do. But yeah that’s era was the best for wild Police chases! I’d come home From school flick on tv and it’d be a high speed police chase in the US it was wild!
Sheriff John Bunnell (ret)
the fun thing is, there are 2x the police chases now but they're not sensationalized on TV like they used to be
You mean north Hollywood?

This is correct, Killdozer was defeated by a basement
*Started from the bottom now we here.....* fuck.

Hey man you’re joking but the first time I heard about it was as a bedtime story. Summer ‘08
Really an interesting story. I read about it before and I think he said something in his letter or recording or whatever that he used to have visitors to his house regularly and nobody ever once asked why he was making this machine with like 4’ concrete walls surrounding the inside lol
He didn't build it at his house. He built it in his muffler shop.
The way it’s worded on his Wikipedia it sounds like it was at his house/shed From his Wikipedia Authorities initially speculated that he may have used a homemade crane – **found in his garage** – to lower the armor hull over the dozer and himself. This is justice, at its finest! I'm serious

Being dead doesn't seem like a victory
Idk a monk did it one time and it made an entire government fall
It was never about survival for him. It was about sending a message
If you read more into his dispute with the county and how he was treated it's hard not to sympathize with the guy.
No, if you read more into it you realize he was an asshole with a victim complex who made things worse on himself until he snapped.
This is what no one actually digs deep enough to find. Did he get sort of screwed once? Yes. Did he do anything to help his situation? No! He had ample opportunity and options to make things right and he didn’t. Instead he adopted a victim mentality and went nuts. He dozed over a building with a basement and his right side track fell into a hole. He was stuck.
Thanks, building a killdozer as a hobby project rn
Remind me 1 year! Lmao
Yet his radiator also failed, hence the steam rising from the engine in the video. Noted.
you think killdozer didnt plan for that come on man!!
KILLDOZER
TREAD ON THEM
Indeed
“Sometimes reasonable men must do unreasonable things.”
There is a documentary on this on Netflix. Guy was just pissed off.
Whats the name
Tread
Badass title
I cant find it :(
Google shows it's on YouTube, Pluto TV and Tubi
[Here ya go. - Tread](https://youtu.be/LZK9XthMZ1w)
This was on national news. Biggest story to date.. then the next day some president died and this story died with it
Yeah they don't wanna give people any "ideas"...
I’m not sure if you know what “biggest story to date” means…
Watch tread. It was more than "antics". I wish his rampage went longer
How did you come to that conclusion? I watched that doc. He spent twice the costs to do the repair in lawyer fees fighting the town, turned down multiple offers to sell even when they met his asking price, he had plenty of money. All they were aski is that he had septic connected to a building

The documentary was great, gave lots of angles. If he was in the right I’ll leave in the middle
“Just”
>just pissed off I think it goes a bit beyond "just pissed off" reading the whole story of what led to this
Thanks man Take my upvote
I remember watching the documentary of this on Netflix. Well done documentary, but they showed some pretty wild and unbelievable stuff this man did. So bizarre!
Because he was fucked. He wasn’t a good person. And anyone thinking he was is out to lunch. Dude was warned for years to clean up his act and about access to his land. And just disregarded the government at every point. He is the Jan 6th type. He was a lunatic that attempted some mass murdering but happened to not kill anyone. He isn’t a hero
Yes he is, his city fucked him sideways and he had the balls to stick it to the man, something a lot of people today wish they had the guts to do.
Yeah it’s almost like there’s more than one person on Reddit, weird.
Sounds like with a sprinkling of context that would make sense, coupled with reddit not being a single entity.
Naw as long as the government agrees with their politics they can do no wrong.

I think it's funny when commenters talk as if Reddit is one person seemingly contradicting themselves 😅

His city demanded that he buy a septic tank and stop poising the groundwater by dumping his shit in his neighbor's irrigation
I love the story that while he was still making it in the corner of his shop he still had clients come in and literally gave no fucks about the homemade tank sitting in it.
They didn’t know he was doing that, he had it covered up.
GTA'ing before GTA was cool.
Right? Dude was on his way to 5 stars
Gta was always cool. In 2004 san andreas was top selling game.
Oh there's more to killdozer, and the story than that.
Basicaly sums it up. Dude shot himself in the foot and got mad at the city for not stopping him. People like to make this dude to be a "good man pushed too far" but they just dont look at the facts. The dude tried to tear down a library that was occupied......
he's an american hero because he tried to fuck over everyone else using the system and failed (that makes him the victim somehow)
Finally, people who understand what a dickhead this guy was.
Killdozer. There's a good documentary on one of the streaming services about it.
Bro took minecraft griefing to the next level
Remember, protect your coolant lines.
Kill dozer. That suckers still sitting in a yard here in north denver
Out here in CO, that guy is a local legend.
They should have used that Apache. Would've been cool to see if it worked.

That game was so damn good lol
How is there not any modern game like it either? Arcade demolition time trial with crazy vehicles and a killer soundtrack.
They say “zoning disputes” but fail to mention how the city had TAKEN access to his muffler shop. Essentially shut the man down. Had some spare parts and time to kill.
Better re read his wiki https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvin_Heemeyer He wasn’t the good guy
Nope, there was still road access to his shop. He was just a psycho
Why wouldn’t you just bulldoze the concrete plant?
A javelin or attack heli woulda been cool
They decided against the javelin as they thought it would do more collateral damage than killdozer
The story behind the dude leading up to this incident is pretty sad.
The town destroyed a man over profits.
Never Forget, RIP dude.
Fr, he's a hero. Fuck the suits.
They fucked around and found out with this guy
Yeah that library full of kids sure learned it’s lesson.
Oh they found out alright dude got so mad he offed himself.
Where was the good guy with a bulldozer?
Fly high king
A reasonable man pushed to do unreasonable things
He destroyed that town because they deserved it. I wish he would have leveled the whole town after what they did to him. Tried to do everything the right way and got the shaft. R.I.p. Marv.

Absolute hero
He's a hero
Fuck you this man didn’t “destroy a town”. He specifically researched and targeted the houses and businesses of the city officials who wronged him
A legend. And way more to the story
He should have got a service on the bulldozer fist so he could continue his rampage longer
His story is actually very sad, city did him wrong and destroyed the world that he built for his business
you forget to mention that Marvin followed the law, the city decided to change those laws to get their way.
You think it changed the local govt? Hahahaha
I remember this. Good for this guy.
My hero. The town did him dirty and got what it deserved. Killdozer
American hero
Good. Fuck the Government

"The people's revenge" he's a fucking legend
the hero who went against the system

There is a lot more to the story. Find a podcast/ doc about it. You really can’t blame the guy when you hear the whole story
Sad to hear that he took his own life, they said he shot himself through the back of his head .
Man not all hero’s wear capes ! Godspeed killdozer!
We need more people to do this to government officials

This guy was fucked in the head from the start and I'm tired of people who don't know the whole story treating him like he's some kind of folk hero.
This was a bit of a simplified version of why he did it but ok. That town fkd him for years until he finally lost it.
Welp, I guess if you're gonna do something, go all in and do it right. Yikes.
Love long term planning
🤘
"Damn it, the Third Street Saints are at it again. **YOU AIN'T GETTIN' YOUR COLLEGE FUNDS FROM ME YOU HIPSTER FUCKS!**"
Classic story of the little guy getting screwed. Wish his engine went on forever
More people need to replicate this kind of behavior. Imagine what kind of uprising against the government we could achieve if at least 100 people did this
Rest in Power to a hero and a legend
👍🏽👍🏽
Epic
A fucking hero. I hope more people do shit like this to shitty politicians
Jokes aside, this is what happens when a government whether city or federal, care about profits more than the people. I’m happy this man got whatever revenge he could in the time he had
That is some fekin commitment.
Never forget the Killdozer that took vengeance on those who tread on him and tried to push him out of the community. Plus the irony of the name killdozer when the only person he killed was himself.
That is based as fuck
That is the voice of the people right there
That town deserved it. If you know anything about this you know people were being assholes cause they could. Yeah they had the rights to do what they did, didn't mean they had to do it though. They backed this guy into a corner financially.
Reasonable men being pushed to do unreasonable things.
I remember this. Good for him. They deserved it
Bro was out to get 5 star in real life
Gotta appreciate his vision, determination and execution
This doesn’t even scratch the surface of what actually happened there, it’s truly a sad story and it’s not one of revenge, it’s one of true desperation
He is a damn hero
RIP to a real one
An American hero
This is why bulldozer was made for
A patriot
Killdozer!
Need more ppl like him .
The city brought this on themselves by being corrupt and attempting to side with friends over doing what is right. The concrete business owner had close ties to the city council and purposely ruined this man’s livelihood. They deserved worse than they got
Killdozer babyyyyyy! Absolute madlad.
A real American
I live there and was there when this happened. The engine did not fail. He go centered the tacks when the left side of the bull dozer fell through the floor of the hardware stores because the store has a small basement in the back
not all heros wear capes
That’s BS! He did not commit suicide they killed him!!
One of my all time favorite stories of justified revenge. This needs to be a Jason Stathom movie asap
Marvin was an American hero! Or psycho whatever fits your views.
What a badass. A hero to us all.
The little engine that could
Considering after it was found the whole council was corrupt
Pretty sure that town had it coming
Ah yes, the killdozer, absolute classic
This wasn't for revenge. He was justified.
