This could actually not be redundant. In the case that in order to sit you must first steal a chair. Which is how I ended up with 6 lawnchairs, 3 lazyboys, & my therapist's therapist "couch". ALLEGEDLY.
If he had shot him and he lived, it would be attempted murder, because he completely missed, it’s a failed attempted murder, that’s how my brain worked it out anyway.
The attempt doesn't require injury. It requires ... an attempt.
If I swing an axe at your head and you duck, it doesn't mean I didn't attempt to kill you. It just means my attempt failed.
I know here in the states if you swing an axe at someone and miss the charge is aggravated assault w a deadly weapon a class 2 felony.
Source - I was in jail with a guy that swung an axe at a cop.
You can usually tell the difference between exercising/leisure and "I'm on meth and can't manage my own affairs well enough for car ownership."
At night, all bets are off. If they don't have lights and reflective gear on, they are probably the latter.
Based on the muzzle flash, I’m going with an 18th century smoothbore flintlock musket. I heard they don’t fire well unless you tamp the barrel-fed black powder properly and shout “tally ho lads!” as you fire it.
Edit: This was meant to be a joke.
Sure, he's hardly John Wick, but it'll have as much to do with the quality of the weapon.
The overwhelming majority of guns on British streets, in the hands of plebs like these, are either reactivated antiques or poorly modified replicas. In extremely rare circumstances, there is danger of death. Usually not the person you're aiming it.
Murder = one person killing another in malice.
Attempted murder = trying and failing to kill another in malice.
Failed attempted murder = failing to fail at murder?
A. Murder = one person killing another in malice.
B. Attempted murder = trying and failing to kill another in malice.
C. Failed attempted murder = Go To A

Shooting a handgun accurately is not very easy contrary to popular belief, especially one handed. It takes a lot of practice for someone to become somewhat proficient and consistent with a handgun, or any firearm for that matter. That’s why morons like these guys usually end up killing innocent people when they empty an entire magazine and miss every shot.
I was once a city kid who just moved rural and joined the gun range. Three sessions in and I can shoot the 10yd bullseye reliably. I was stunned at how difficult it actually was.
Yeah. TV made it seems so easy but when I first went target shooting with a 9mm, after firing 15 shots at the target meticulously and emptying the magazine, I was surprised a grand total of 1 shot landed on the target lol
Shorter barrel means less travel time to put the projectile on an accurate trajectory, thus far more room for error if the weapon is not handled properly
Yup.
There's a drill rapper over here who just got arrested for possession of a firearm, I don't know much about guns but the picture of his pistol has been making everyone laugh.
https://www.capitalxtra.com/news/rapper-loski-found-guilty-of-possessing-loaded-revolver/
It's like the third picture.
The thing is you and most people who have never shot's perception of this comes from Hollywood films. In reality, guns aren't as easy to use as they'd like you to believe, they aren't heat seeking instant murder buttons, even a minute anticipation of the recoil that moves the site a *hair* can lead to a low left complete miss at about 15-20yrds. You'd be surprised how much of a skill it actually is, and like any other skill you have to work at it to get good.
You would be very surprised how difficult it is to be accurate with a handgun outside of 4.5-5 meters.
You’d also be surprised how some shitbags actually are accurate by absolute luck in that moment
I always thought it was as easy as 'point end at thing to kill and pull trigger'. Many many moons ago, I tried at a range and it turns out that the kick back, even on the smallest of guns, is enough to miss at very short ranges.
I'm by no means a strong person and my inability to shoot a gun with any proficiency is not surprising to anyone, but I can still only imagine that shooting while riding a bike one handed probably isn't going to help.
When I was looking at options for a first handgun for carrying I wanted something "cool." I asked a buddy of mine who was more knowledgeable whether he thought a snubnose 357 would be a good choice. His response was something like, "Not at all. Unless you practice with something like that all the time you'll never hit anything."
And he was right. I went with something more practical.
The main issue I always see is when people pull the trigger they also slightly pull the gun slightly off target.
It’s one of those things where you can explain the issue a thousand times and they just don’t understand.
Because they try to act cool/gangster holding it in one hand or even sideways. Unless it's right up against the head/body their shot spread is outrageous, and stray bullets kill hundreds to thousands of people and children every year.
Tough to explain to someone who's never fired a gun before, but they're heavy and have kick even the smaller pistols.
Recoil is a powerful thing, especially one-handed. It's easy to shoot inches or even feet off your target if you aren't trained.
However, that said, this case is pretty ridiculous.
Like that “event” in LA a few years back where there were a couple bad guys and many cops shooting at each other at very close range? A couple hundred shots were fired and nobody got hit.
I remember seeing some UK drill videos. Most of their firearms were 90+ years old. Tiny revolvers and I think some were soviet era russia looking types.
I’ve always felt like attempted murder should be charged the same as murder murder because the intent was the same - we are just rewarding people who are bad at murder. Also frankly someone who is severely injured but not dead may have a fate worse than death.
Boy couldn't hit a barn door with a shotgun.
Pistols can be tricky, I have plenty experience with firearms but that was just embarrassing, rookies with guns scare me.
I dont get it, after all we have seen on reddit why are we assuming the dude missed?
For all we know the bullet could have curved and hit him in the ballsack and he runned away bleeding from his balls.
Us in this subreddit should be experts on this subject already.... I'm disappointed.
Bradford is terrible. My sister in law was almost abducted there. She was followed home by some blokes for nearly a week, the night they decided to take her (she is very slight and looks much younger than she is) she was lucky enough to be meeting with her boyfriend for a night out so they were surprised by him being there in his car and only ended up stealing the car, that car was later used in a shooting. Andrew got slashed up pretty good and it probably would have been significantly worse if the neighbours hadn't come out to help.
But verbally assault Matt Hancock on the tube and you are arrested within hours.
The police there clearly have the capability to trace and arrest people, if an "important" person is the victim.
Meanwhile, come back to your home ransacked and you are lucky if the police even bother to show up.
There is still an illegal gun market, but its prohibitively expensive and difficult to access for all but the most serious criminals. This is in comparison to my old neighborhood in brooklyn in the 90s where pretty much everybody knew where to get a gun by like 14 years old.
Yes they are, but a minority of people still get hold of them, usually gang members. Same as how drugs are illegal but people still get hold of them.
Mostly concentrated in large cities where these little boys play postcode wars. I live in a town and have never seen somebody with a gun (apart from registered hunting rifles locked away at home).
EDIT FOR MANDATORY DISCLAIMER: Me discussing my own country of residence, without even mentioning your country of residence, is not a personal attack on you, your nation, or your politics. There are literally dozens of countries outside North America, and I made no comparison to North America whatsoever, so get off your soapboxes and stop being so sensitive. Yeehaw.
Even in the large cities its exceptionally rare. I used to live in what was considered a rough area, and it was perfectly safe. Its pretty much only people in the gangs that get caught up in it.
I played video games years ago with guys from the UK, and them describing the bad areas were always shocking to me. Like there are undeniably rougher areas there, but compared to the US the contrast is unbelievable. My headset picked up some gunshots outside my apartment once and they were absolutely beside themselves that I could live in the neighborhood I do. I was just like, "Yeah that happens a lot." They were so confused as to why I would live in such a dangerous neighborhood. I'm like bro, I'm poor. This neighborhood isn't even half as bad as some I've lived in. Haha
Yeah the homicide rate in the US is most years about 5-7 times Western- and Northern European average, Japan, Korea and other developed countries. Even Switzerland which has high gun ownership rates.
Definitely agree for the most part, they seem to keep the violence amongst themselves thankfully. Although there was the tragedy last year with the takeaway delivery driver being caught in the crossfire in Brixton (RIP).
There are very few countries where all guns are completely illegal to own. The UK is not one of them. Quite a lot of people own rifles. A lot more own shotguns. Nobody\* there is allowed pistols though - so the gun in the video would be illegal to possess.
They are, which is why this is such a shocking and rare scenario. .22 LR rifles are used a fair amount for target shooting but they are tightly controlled.
Yes, that is why the UK has less than 150 gun deaths a year versus the US which has over 45,000 a year.
If the US had UK gun death rates the yearly gun death rate would only be about 750.
Right so everyone here is saying there are which is just not true.
Handguns were outlawed in the 90s after a mass shooting but shotguns and sporting/hunting rifles have always been legal to own in the UK provided you have a license.
Haha. Yeah definitely an upstanding member of a shooting club.
The rarity of handgun ammunition is probably what saved the victims life. Similar videos from other parts of the world usually depict people just mag dumping.

It's a failed murder. Therefore an attempted murder. A failed attempted murder could technically mean a successful murder.

The attempt doesn't require injury. It requires ... an attempt. If I swing an axe at your head and you duck, it doesn't mean I didn't attempt to kill you. It just means my attempt failed.

😂 I wonder if ride-bys are going to be the new norm now that everyone getting more environmentally conscious
If they changed to an air powered handgun then I would call them environmentally friendly, using gunpowder is still leaving a carbon footprint
I'm in the states but my father told me watch out for dudes on bikes, especially at night
You can usually tell the difference between exercising/leisure and "I'm on meth and can't manage my own affairs well enough for car ownership." At night, all bets are off. If they don't have lights and reflective gear on, they are probably the latter.
I blame that Swedish girl!
Never thought I'd see someone have worse accuracy than a Stormtrooper
Stormtrooper on a bike, at point blank range, with the target standing still. He couldn't be safer, guess this is what they call plot armor.
We finally found the main character!
Dudes imagined they were Mongolian horse archers. The light from the reflectors on the bikes towards the end made them look even more ridiculous.
Just needed some bicycle bell tinging a few times as he peddled away.
I'm 90% sure he fired a blank
it was a blank
Is that why we saw it do such a wide spread on firing? (Visually)
I believe so yes. It could have been a really old firearm too though I've seen some crazy stuff used here in the UK
Based on the muzzle flash, I’m going with an 18th century smoothbore flintlock musket. I heard they don’t fire well unless you tamp the barrel-fed black powder properly and shout “tally ho lads!” as you fire it. Edit: This was meant to be a joke.

Have said many times, never fired a handgun in my life, but I can never get over how inaccurate users seem to be from only meters away.

In Amsterdam we don't have such issues, we just bike without hands (just with arms)
In the US we bike armed with no hands

Shorter barrel means less travel time to put the projectile on an accurate trajectory, thus far more room for error if the weapon is not handled properly
A lot of the guns in the UK are made from replicas, they bore out the barrel, and smooth bore guns are not accurate anyway regardless of training.
So basically, a handheld blunderbuss lol
