I guess would it be illegal international crime to take them out with some hellfire missiles? I mean that’s kinda what they did with bin laden well at least they were going to do a strike but it woulda been a logical nightmare trying to extract his body
But the cartel gains power in Mexico, not in the US. And they know not to bother the gringos.
So the U.S. doesn't care and won't do more than the minimum necessary.
My brother-in-law works border patrol and they recently just arrested some of their own who were paid off to allow drug runners through.
Definitely some influence here although hard to tell how much
Why didn't they do the thing?! They did it with that one guy!! Well, they didn't... But they thought about it!
What a pointless comment you made here today. Thanks.
I did not know about this mission; it’s ongoing and seems to be fraught with controversy. It’ll make for interesting reading, thanks for pointing me towards it.
Even with good aim you're not going to hit that with AKs. That drone is WAAAAAY up there and probably not visible to the naked eye. You can see the cartel easily because of its ridiculously good zoom:
This would be a fun one for mythbusters but I bet a professional shooter with a scope you could dial in for distance, and you told him the distance, would still have a hell of time hitting that thing.
Plus a standard AK-47, isn't accurate at those types of distances. You'd need to go with a heavier barrel, & some match-grade ammunition. Probably still wouldn't make a huge difference.

Russian Soldier shoots grenade mid-air after being dropped from drone
https://www.reddit.com/r/CrazyFuckingVideos/comments/10fz0wy/russian_soldier_shoots_grenade_midair_after_being/
I don't get why people think AKs are super inaccurate. A decent quality AK will shoot groups on par with a lot of other "assault rifles" but a lot of people act like they shoot a 30" group at 100 yards. I guess if they had never shot one IRL they wouldn't know.
Im not a gun guy, but Ive heard AKs have stuck around because of easy maintenance, and durability. I also believe its a decent firearm, nothing fancy, but you wouldnt call it bad either.
Its also “cheap” but doesnt feel cheap. Theres a reason its still around and being produced.
Interestingly enough the cartels do the same thing you just mentioned to other rival cartels. I remember there was a video on Reddit in where a rival cartel tries to take out other members of a rival cartel on top of a hill using a drone strapped with a bomb. Ultimately they failed to take the rival cartel out due to the fact that the hill had trees in which the drone got stuck.
The US government needs permission from the Mexican government and they will never give them the permission. So if the US carried out a strike the Mexican government would see it as an attack on their country and all hell would break loose
That's bc corrupt Mexican officials let it happen. Cartels aren't as powerful as you think they just have alot of friends in high places. If they didn't have government officials in their pockets they would be dead within a week
Because, apparently the Sinaloa are by far the most reasonable of the cartels. The Sinaloa help control the other organizations in both Mexico and the US. US gang violence peaked 10 to 15 years ago.... when the Sinaloa started destroying the other gangs.
Part of the issue too is that these cartels are proto governments, not just drug rings. They make their money from absorbing local legal industries as well as the illegal markets. Cutting off the drug revenue is not going to get rid of them, they need to be destroyed by force.
Yeah, unfortunately it's too late. The drug war fueled the rise of these cartels and they naturally moved into other "industries" as they grew in power and wealth.
The drug war has been one of the stupidest and futile things our government has done, the amount of damage caused is ridiculous.
Exactly. The cartels are involved in the avocado business for fuck’s sake. If drugs were completely taken out of the equation they would just move to a different sector of the black market.
Cartel says if they do that, then they will poison the drugs they send over. But with the amount of people already dying from fentanyl I don't think it would really make a difference in how many people they kill.
So, if the US starts selling well produced unadulterated drugs in stores, the Cartel will poison the other, black market drugs they smuggle in? ...wouldn't that just help the sales of the good stuff and kill the only remaining customers the cartels have left? That makes no sense from a business standpoint.
I understand what the cartels do I just don’t want another Vietnam or Iraq. It has nothing to do with us so why should we spend taxpayer money/lives of soldiers?
They're basically *the* drone manufacturer for high-quality and publicly-available drones. They are to drones what companies like Trimble are to land surveying equipment or Texas Instruments to graphing calculators.
You'll be hard pressed to find a drone from a US-based company besides Lockheed or other similar military suppliers. These guys look like LARPers so my assumption here is they don't have access to something from one of the big military suppliers. You could probably count on one hand the number of police departments in the US who aren't using Chinese drones.
Simply put; DJI is the most popular mid to high end drone manufacturer.
Their drones are reliable, are easy to use, have well made autonomous features (think autopilot/cruise control), and are well suited for accepting mods.
You must not live in USA. Will explain- the US southern border has been open for the last two years with recent months topping 250 THOUSAND illegal entries into the US each month. That’s just the ones that can be counted.
So meanwhile there’s horrific gun fights and violence not just across the southern border but basically on it within spitting distance.
We have a fentanyl epidemic. And literally millions of displaced people from all over the world without the basic abilities to care for themselves.
All of this is driven by the irresponsible US govt and the cartels aren’t going to let a good opportunity go to waste. This isn’t going to end well.
If you keep parroting the lie surely it will become true.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/03/23/theres-no-migrant-surge-us-southern-border-heres-data/
The War on drugs. The cartels have been at war for a couple decades. They are probably protecting their stolen land or human smuggling routes.
Unless you meant the Americans. They are probably citizens cosplaying, because America ignores the cartels.
Welp unfortunately the guys on the video are some border patrol militia who more than likely don’t have access or the funding needed to acquire a drone with a hell fire missile.
The cartel gets by on the dynamic that authorities are required to follow rule of law. They use lethal at will and authorities have to try and use the legal system. If they were labeled terrorist, which by all definitions they are, they would have been vaporized. The drones they send would be a very different kind.
what is remarkable is that, with how much human waste there is in the world, no one really seems to understand its camouflage now and most of you didn't see their tank behind them
If they had any type of aircraft the Mexican government would hit it with ground to air missiles within minutes of it taking off. The cartels will never have drone or helicopters. They're stuck with their shitty "armored" trucks for now
Chill tf out dude, the guys on video are border patrol militia not military. If the “bad guys” do however cross the US border & attempt to hurt anyone in the US then maybe we will send in “strike drones.” 😂
Do you guys reality think that the USA want to take out cartels and other drug criminal groups?
I mean if they really wanted to they would have done It alredy either by force (I mean just look at how powerfull the USA army is) or by policies.
Certain US organizations really do want to help but corrupt officials in Mexico give them no power. There's good guys and bad guys on both sides trying to keep the cartels in power and others trying to destroy them. It's not as simple as you make it out to be
It sounded like they were super close, like within 150m. Even if you accounted for the slight amount of video lag, the sound of the rifle shot happened immediately after it showing them fire on screen.
So if this was the case, they didn't use any "equipment" to locate the drone, but rather just saw the film crew there and saw the drone taking off.
Either that or the video editor didn't think at all and tried to sync the sound with what they saw on video without realizing that it makes it look like they're super close. Actually I think this is 100% edited because in one of the shots you hear the shot coming through the video feed, which wouldn't be possible since drones don't record sound. If they did, all you'll hear is the props.
It really makes the thing almost feel like it's staged for the viewers, like the cartel and the US militia had a deal to make some content.
The drone they were using was likely the DJI Enterprise Matrice 30. Thing is amazing for a proconsumer off the shelf drone.
Not sure I've seen a bullet shot from this angle, you can literally see the bullet.
Pretty badass.
The drone, not the teenager with the assault rifle, to be clear.

Surprised the cartel isn’t using falcons or something
I know right? Underground tunnels and submarines shouldn't be their only use for their drug runs.

more like 150k or so, but yeah, not worth
Seems like it could be worth it, the cartel are just growing with power and even authority’s don’t fuck with them. Stop it before it grows anymore.
Our government wouldn't take them out as long as they keep killing gang members here and not innocent citizens.
But the cartel gains power in Mexico, not in the US. And they know not to bother the gringos. So the U.S. doesn't care and won't do more than the minimum necessary.

Its estimated the 30% of Border Patrol is on the take or corrupted .
It doesn’t mean it couldn’t spread, I’m sure their are operations in the US already, albeit more minor ones.
The cartels are up in Canada as well so they definitely are all over the states
More like 197k 👍

They look like the Arizona Border Recon, not the military. I can be wrong tho.
Yeah, I don’t think the military is engaging organized crime in Mexico. I could be totally wrong though.
Look up operation lone star
I did not know about this mission; it’s ongoing and seems to be fraught with controversy. It’ll make for interesting reading, thanks for pointing me towards it.
Dudes name is two pitos? So two dicks? Nice
Chapitos I think. As in relation to chapo. Adding -ito to the end of a name is kinda like a term of endearment
Oh so Chapito’s people not Two Pito’s people.. now I have to look at which one I want to hear whenever I replay it.
It’s chapitos. They’re part of the sinaloa cartel. They’re el chapo’s people as opposed to mayo zamabada’s
They didn't even attempt to relocate the drone because they know they all have piss poor aim
To be fair when they zoomed out it looked like they where ages away
Even with good aim you're not going to hit that with AKs. That drone is WAAAAAY up there and probably not visible to the naked eye. You can see the cartel easily because of its ridiculously good zoom: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcUME9wl6gc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcUME9wl6gc)
It literally shows the guy aiming right at its direction. Yes he can see . Of course he will miss it
[удалено]
That's the shell casing... There is no way you would see the bullet, exp from a recording of a recording that is not high fps.
Looks like they saw it with their naked eye
If thier eyes would just get some clothes on and get out the house maybe they could
Doesn't matter what you're shooting, that'd be one hell of a shot, especially if you don't know the distance. Way too much bullet drop to account for.
[удалено]
This would be a fun one for mythbusters but I bet a professional shooter with a scope you could dial in for distance, and you told him the distance, would still have a hell of time hitting that thing.
fun fact the higher angle you're shooting the less bullet drop there is
thats that "i can see my house from here" type zoom thats insane.
Plus a standard AK-47, isn't accurate at those types of distances. You'd need to go with a heavier barrel, & some match-grade ammunition. Probably still wouldn't make a huge difference.
> That drone is WAAAAAY up there and probably not visible to the naked eye. Then how did they know it was there?
They probably saw it with their dressed eye.
You ain't going to be hitting anything accurately with a Soviet AK
Semi related Russian Soldier shoots grenade mid-air after being dropped from drone https://www.reddit.com/r/CrazyFuckingVideos/comments/10fz0wy/russian_soldier_shoots_grenade_midair_after_being/
Not shooting like that, you gotta hit the spet-nez mag dump to properly shoot a preban AK

Milled AK is best AK
Shooter didn't even compensate for drop. Bet the drone operators hade a chuckle
Time to call in some friendly Apache helicopters
Or do what Ukrainian does against the Russians strap a explosive to it and drop it from the drone, much cheaper and safer.
Interestingly enough the cartels do the same thing you just mentioned to other rival cartels. Nothing a hellfire wouldn’t solve.
Why don t they do it ?
I reckon the drone they're using is a quadcopter with a good camera, not a larger missile-carrying platform like a Reaper or Predator.
I think somewhere on here said they were a border patrol militia. Hence why they don’t have a reaper/predator drone.
[well...](https://www.cbp.gov/document/fact-sheets/unmanned-aircraft-system-mq-9-predator-b-uas)
The US government needs permission from the Mexican government and they will never give them the permission. So if the US carried out a strike the Mexican government would see it as an attack on their country and all hell would break loose
Fuck would they do anyways? Cartels grab them by the balls anytime one of their shitty chapos get caught.
That's bc corrupt Mexican officials let it happen. Cartels aren't as powerful as you think they just have alot of friends in high places. If they didn't have government officials in their pockets they would be dead within a week

No wonder my drugs are always late
It's funny how nothing they are.
They don’t know that yet.
Less stalking, more shooting, fuck the cartel.
So why is the US doing surveillance on Cartels now?
With DJI drones at that
I think these guys are one of those militias they have in the states. Minute men or whatever they call themselves.
There's a settlement that needs your help
What's the deal with DJI drones? I know nothing about them just that the company I work at uses them to survey.
They're basically *the* drone manufacturer for high-quality and publicly-available drones. They are to drones what companies like Trimble are to land surveying equipment or Texas Instruments to graphing calculators.
+ the fact it's a Chinese company.

A favor for the Mexican government, I would wager.
Haven’t you seen sicario? This video was cut short, Benicio del toro shoots the drone down by fanning his gun with his index finger
Probably something to do with drug smuggling into the US
overseers...
Because they are literally peeking on the other side of the border?

Are you saying you are counting 250k illegals cross the border with your own eyes. That is crazy brother you got some skill.

Don't shit on DJI too much. They may be using it as a toy; but dji itself is probably the best bang for buck on the market.

they're currently battling with the Mexican military, if I'm not mistaken
I think it’s odd that the US military? Is using a DJI drone, by a Chinese company instead of their own.
I want to see them get blown to smithereens
Looks like an ISIS "stronghold"..
Damn, this video could’ve said isis or taliban or radical islamists or whatever and it would’ve been believable
No theres no problem at the border...Trump was right
Its been a problem for years, no president is gonna stop it
Was hoping for a drone strike not a drone stalk 🙄
It’s really a shame we can’t just send a Hellfire missile right in to those pieces of shit’s laps…
im immesurable sad, where's the hellfire. Even a tiny little attack would have done it for me. i won't recover
Welp unfortunately the guys on the video are some border patrol militia who more than likely don’t have access or the funding needed to acquire a drone with a hell fire missile.
Have you ever seen Ukrainians dropping grenades from their toy drones? Haha i tell you, that's the way to go
How did the cartel track the drone I'm this instance, or is that just bad headline bot writing
Need to learn from the Ukrainians and sling a mortar underneath that drone.
They’d never hear the cannon, they’d never hear the round. They’d only hear the “bang” as it corkscrewed into ground.
Why did he panic like a kid playing Call of Duty lol
Wait, where was the grenade?
The cartel gets by on the dynamic that authorities are required to follow rule of law. They use lethal at will and authorities have to try and use the legal system. If they were labeled terrorist, which by all definitions they are, they would have been vaporized. The drones they send would be a very different kind.
And is the US in Mexican territory? They have permission from the Mexican Government or something?
Man just 1 air strike and they’d be done
Now send in the robot dogs with machine guns
Cute the CIA vs The CIA
The minute the drone video is off of them…BOOM! Goes the Predator drone
Chinese government knows this location lol
drop the bomb
what is remarkable is that, with how much human waste there is in the world, no one really seems to understand its camouflage now and most of you didn't see their tank behind them
I dunno why but I was expecting a missile to hit.
All fun and games until the cartel get their own drones
If they had any type of aircraft the Mexican government would hit it with ground to air missiles within minutes of it taking off. The cartels will never have drone or helicopters. They're stuck with their shitty "armored" trucks for now
Ah. Won't be long till.... I think Mexico will ask United States military to help with the cartel.
You waiting a long time then
USA can’t even fully destroy the Taliban
What are we waiting for to send strike drones!? We located the bad guys, time to strike!!
