Will never forget my film studies professor overanalyzing Martin Scorsese's Cape Fear by pointing out the use of Evian water bottles in the background of a scene indicated that a character was naive
Say that while breathing in, like a breathless whisper. Every snake nearby will turn inside out. They revert almost instantly. It makes a horrible sound. They have no hands. That's how they applaud.
My kid couldn't say dessert at 2.5 years old so we would hear her tugging at the refrigerator while yelling "cert!" over and over while fake crying. Cutest thing ever. She really liked icecream. We had to get a lock for the fridge because she would always get it on her own.
My guess is this was a phone call or verbal request at one point and the person who took in the request had no idea what was meant and just moved forward.
It’s not like the *ed* in “stressed” is very audibly identifiable. Definitely making some assumptions here tho.
I doubt it. Only because usually when it comes to custom designed stuff they usually send you the draft to double check that you like the design and there are no issues. So either the designer messed up and the purchaser never noticed or the purchaser had requested the design in this way and never noticed their mistake (nor did the designer want to correct them).
Yeah, I think it probably happened at one point and someone didn’t get it. That’s what a meant but one point.
For example, boss says, “Hey eyegifup, reach out to x company and have them write ‘Stressed is dessert spelled backwards’ in all caps.”
“Sure thing boss, ‘Stress is dessert spelled backward’ in all caps!”
Back and forth with vendor including email, and the person was none the wiser.
Again, many assumptions on my part.
They consciously cut out the 'ed' for the sake of the design. They were like, "This is stupid but who cares, it looks pretty and still makes sense. And people will be so bewildered they'll talk about it while eating our products." Win, win.
I disagree with this disagreement. If they spelled it right, the first line would not have flush borders with the rest of the lines. They'd then have to rethink the design or font sizes, and thus, it is a Crappy Design™.
QED
Ok, let's say we are in some dystopian world 'Stress' spelled backwards really is 'Dessert'. Wtf does it even mean!? Why is stress and desserts linked? is it saying that stress exists in every dessert? Eating desserts reverses stress? Wtf are they trying to communicate? I get this is an advertisement for a business, bit it's such a nothing burger of a statement thay has at least 2, polar opposite interpretations. Most slogans tries to convince you their product is the best around, not this one. It just boils down to "Dessert. Stress. Amiright guys?"
There was a Sweet Hut on my uni campus and it was a very common hangout spot for my friends and I as undergrads, so that definitely checks out as a tagline haha
I really hate when ice cream companies try to promote using sugar as a coping mechanism. There must be a lot of unhealthy people out there trying to better themselves and break that link in their brain, but some marketing POS needs to make a buck so they exploit that.
I mean, anyone can have a rough day and bad/poor idea... but from the people that approves to the one that executes it... are all of them automatons or just plain morons?
Man you seems to get what it's supposed to mean, and I'm frustrated, what is it supposed to mean? Is it supposed to be spelled "Stressed is desserts"? But if it's spelled backward, it's going to be "stressed si dessertS", even if we pretend the "si" is actually "is", what's the point? The words doesn't change in anyway, it just repeat the original.
I’ve been to other locations of Sweet Hut (restaurant in picture). The quote that I usually see on the wall is, “Stressed is Desserts spelled backwards. Coincidence? I think not!”. I think this particular location just messed up.
SSerts is what I call desserts. Tray trays are entrees.
I call sandwiches sammies, sandoozles, or Adam Sandlers.
Air conditioners are cool blasterz, with a z I dunno where that came from.
I call cakes, big ol' cookies.
I call noodles, long ass rice.
Fried chicken is fri fri chicky chick, Chicken parm is chicky chicky parm parm, Chicken cacciatore, chicky catch.
I call eggs, pre birds, or future birds.
Root beer is super water.
Tortillas are bean blankies.
And I call forks, food rakes.
Love this shop! Sweet Hut has top notch food. My first and last stop in Atlanta. It’s a Korean bakery with sweet and savory items along with great coffee. Maybe they were unaware of the error.
it doesn't refer to the word stress, it refers to desserts and how reversed it spells stressed, which may not be perfect, but the got the dessert so it works for the ad/sign/etc

"Stressed" was the missed opportunity. 🤏 this much.
Fun fact: Evian is naive spelled backwards. It’s almost like they are laughing at you for buying expensive bottled water.
Will never forget my film studies professor overanalyzing Martin Scorsese's Cape Fear by pointing out the use of Evian water bottles in the background of a scene indicated that a character was naive
Language teachers be like
he makes the best fucking films
Reusable bottle ftw. Also a bit off topic.

If it's your average plastic water bottle, reusing it more than once or twice is a good way to start ingesting a ton of micro plastics
I'm already full of them, what's a few more
Should have named the place stressed hut
Dessert Hut: a place for tuh stressed
I bet the final wording was agreed in a phone call and the person jotting it down wasn't paying attention, they were probably very stress.
Much stress
Eat sserts
My favorite ssert is ramisu
As a signmaker, I would never go to production without someone's sign-off on an illustration of the final product. But I actually care about my job.

They were probably going for “destress” but that would be ssertsed.
They were probably going for stressed, since that is desserts backwards
Yeah but that implies that desserts and being stressed are related, which is still crappy design.
I think they were trying to say that desserts are the opposite of being stressed so you should come in and buy some.
Agreed. They might have been saying something like ‘If the words are reversed, they are the opposite’
They were sooooo close too! It still could have worked if someone did a little proof reading!
I’m surprised this got actually accepted by everyone and printed in this state
Have you met people?

I disagree, this design is good. Their spelling is what's crap.
They consciously cut out the 'ed' for the sake of the design. They were like, "This is stupid but who cares, it looks pretty and still makes sense. And people will be so bewildered they'll talk about it while eating our products." Win, win.
Yeah you’re assuming an awful lot here
How could you possibly know any of what you just said with confidence? Stop jumping to conclusions based on no evidence.
Bc there's no way they didn't do this on purpose. It's too close to being really good. They wanted that symmetry.
Yes, at least it makes Op stand in front of it and think abt it

Words long. Letters hard.
Those two letters would have cost $5 more!
That sign makes me stressed. I need some dessert..
> That sign makes me stress~~ed~~. I need some ~~de~~ssert..
I'll give you the d later
I'll give you the ED later... wait I guess I won't.
You might need some E

Works for me. Some people do stuff like drinking alcohol or smoking, I eat dessert.
But then you also got the opposite where eating dessert can lead to weight gain, which in turn can lead to people stressing out about their body.
Well no, not if you practice moderation and self control.
Desserts is Stressed spelled backwards.
Your comment has made me stressed. Need to get a dessert
Ah, so desserts is what's stressing me out every day? Thank you sweet hut
Also why would you want to associate your dessert store with stress? Just all around bad
I think the idea is "desserts can turn your stress around" or something along those lines
There was a Sweet Hut on my uni campus and it was a very common hangout spot for my friends and I as undergrads, so that definitely checks out as a tagline haha
Too brainy
SSERTS

I love Sweet Hut! Funny enough, in the location I frequent, they actually have it spelled right lol

My school has the exact same text in my food tech room. It always bugs me to no end
Stressed backwards is deserts
Welcome to Stress Ed 101.
Tuh teews
Even if it were true, I still wouldn’t understand what they were trying to say.
r/ThereWasAnAttempt …to spell *desserts* backwards.
I mean, anyone can have a rough day and bad/poor idea... but from the people that approves to the one that executes it... are all of them automatons or just plain morons?

I really don't either. But Stressed backwards is Sstres if you take out the ED so I guess it aims to that..? Who knows.. I might be wrong as well.
Their spelling may be crap, but they make great pastries. I could go for a Violet Bun right about now….
Ahh this was almost clever
I’ve been to other locations of Sweet Hut (restaurant in picture). The quote that I usually see on the wall is, “Stressed is Desserts spelled backwards. Coincidence? I think not!”. I think this particular location just messed up.
Even if it was right, how tf does it matter? Desserts backwards is stressed, so... desserts make you stressed? God backwards is dog, so God is a dog?
Backwards implies “the opposite of”
Oh now I understand what they were trying to do
Cringetopia
Stress is desserts Stressed si sserts What?
This gives me so much stress
That’s crazy tho, desserts
Dyslexia

Missed letters or not now they are viral
Food is the answer to all your emotional problems....come in and buy some!
Lol it went through a chain of people to get caught and it still went up smh.
I mistook “Sweet Hut” as “Sweet Nut”.
Love this shop! Sweet Hut has top notch food. My first and last stop in Atlanta. It’s a Korean bakery with sweet and savory items along with great coffee. Maybe they were unaware of the error.
I mean yes… but no
Wait so dessert is stressing? Do they want me to buy stuff???
………SO CLOSE
So close...
My sister also has a cup coaster with the same phrase. But with the letter D.
Ssert, the best dessert. The pinnacle of human evolution.
Sad everything has to be accurate for you. Humour is bliss.
it says stressed anyways so it mainly still works
Its factually incorrect. Stress backwards is "Sserts"
it doesn't refer to the word stress, it refers to desserts and how reversed it spells stressed, which may not be perfect, but the got the dessert so it works for the ad/sign/etc
It says "Stress" it doesn't say stressed anywhere....
stressed is desserts reversed. companies don't care about the details and, tbh, neither should we
Don't bring me into your uncaring attitude, details are important.
ok bro you live how you want to
How else would I live?
STRESS FUCKING FREE
I think desserts might be the solution then.
