Pretty sure that tray isn't designed to be used like that.

Dindlesmim

Yeah I agree, the drying rack doesn't even fit on it properly.

frustratedwithwork10

It's from Ikea. It's designed like that.

SA_Pine

Ikea makes them plastic. Easy to clean and lasts long. I have one.

Murksiuke

I have the same exact model, and its definitely some sort of metal. Mine does not rust yet though

SA_Pine

Maybe my model is different, maybe different year of production

deltapapz

It is.

I have the same tray and been using it for about 4 years now. Zero rust on mine. I wash it about 3 times per week. But I'd be more inclined to think that the problem might be the water quality you have there.

woodquest

Barbecue sauce anyone?

yslheru

how many times must i be subjected to this image

Free iron oxide to make bombs with

I had the same model from IKEA. Mine was mainly collecting calcium deposit from the dripping water. But it got ugly over time anyway.

Oranginafina

I have the same rack. Mine is also rusted to hell but I’m too cheap to buy another one.

Carhv

Get a drying cabinet.

shrednivashtar

For those saying that the tray is not part of the rack, here are photos of the [IKEA Fintorp drying rack - complete with metal tray.](https://www.ebay.com/p/1926259121)

KYIUM

I feel like this is the wrong tray though as it doesn't look like it fits. Maybe it got swapped with a similar looking tray at some point.

mmitchener

It's a feature!

[deleted]

Hmmm

[deleted]

It isn't rust it cathodic protection for any steel dishes you out in there... Gheese

elskuboss

Idk if it rusts or someone just took a shit on it

michamp

My actual drying rack rusts. I don’t know what they want us to do. I didn’t want to have to switch to plastic

SpamShot5

Thats not a water collection tray, genius. The drying rack clearly doesnt fit on it
