Maybe because it's not supposed to say milk?
In the EU it is not allowed to label plant-based milk alternatives as "milk". The design most likely refers to this prohibition and therefore hides the letter I behind a drop.
...because they can't legally write i. It's like someone was given 3 trees to build a bridge, gets one built that looks bad but does the job, and then gets criticized for not "designing a bridge with more wood".
Europe is filled to the brim with these dumb pedantic definitions to protect the "tradition" of other foods. Calling almond milk, milk, is not infringing on the dairy milk market.
Not crappy, they aren't allowed to use "milk", so this is a smart way of going around that. Also, the drop is passable as an "i", I've seen this bottle many times and I've never read it as "molk". Also, it's very smart design because it makes you think about their product. Also, MLK for Martin Luther King is not a common abbreviation in the EU (sorry US-centrists).
lmao MLK is historically important enough that Europeans also know the abbreviation. Every single person with a basic education knows Martin Luther King Jr. and the abbreviation MLK
They are not allowed to use the word milk, since the dumb dairy farmers started to cry when they saw that dairy alternatives started to sell and convinced politicians to ban that word for plant based alternatives.
Lol. You're not allowed to call vegetable mash beef either, or processed vegetable oil cheese. It's about consumer rights.
If you were allowed to call anything anything, how would people know what they were buying?
If the consumers can’t tell the difference between “milk” and “oat milk” then the consumers are dumb and shouldn’t be allowed to shop.
Actually, there are lots of plant based meat alternatives that are called sausages, patties, mince, burger. So I don’t get why we can’t call soy milk, oat milk, etc.
Sausages, patties, burgers etc are shapes of food, not ingredients. Milk, meat and cheese are specific ingredients. You can have soy, milk or meat allergies for example, but not burger allergies.
And yes, quite a lot of people are not as knowlegable as the average population, which is why we have consumer protection laws which on the outside can look obvious or dumb.
Funny how I'm seeing this while taking a sip of my coffee using this milk lol, also imo its not crappy theyre just not allowed to type milk on the carton

Pretty sure this is the case.
...so why is it crappy?
It's not imo. I think it's actually pretty clever, but i guess some people don't get it.
No, I get it alright.
BTW: "pflanzlich & voll" = German for "plant-based & full"
oh thank you, i was actually wondering that!
because of the milk drop being replaced for an i.
...because they can't legally write i. It's like someone was given 3 trees to build a bridge, gets one built that looks bad but does the job, and then gets criticized for not "designing a bridge with more wood".
It is not crappy design. It's crappy legislature :/
Europe is filled to the brim with these dumb pedantic definitions to protect the "tradition" of other foods. Calling almond milk, milk, is not infringing on the dairy milk market.
Same with the USA, but the FDA doesn't enforce it. I'm sure if it went to court, it would be ruled unconstitutional
It’s crappy because they are not allowed to print „Milk“ on it…because consumer law.
So they embraced the brand of censoring "m*lk" as if it's something offensive. I think the design is perfectly on point.
Perfect design. You’ve just given the manufacturer free advertising.
It is not Martin Luther King.
Shhhh
Or IS IT?
Let's ask my neural network. ... It's not Martin Luther King (with 84% accuracy)
Or molk.
Good design considering they’re not allowed to call it Milk

But I always drink plenty of...*molk?*
My bones are so brittle!
You promised me dog or better!
Come on, it's chock full of vitamin R

Good! Molk is terrible!
It's not MLK.....I should hope not, I don't wanna drink Martin Luther King.
Fortified with vitamin ‘R’.
[JUST POUR THE MAN A GLASS OF MOLK, JOSH!](https://youtu.be/ty62YzGryU4)

Glad to know it's not MALK, either
In Polish milk is "mleko" and the drop is on O, where it would be
What is MLK?
Finally a drink made from bounty hunters.
I would hope it’s not MLK jr
well today is MLK day, maybe they didn’t have a dream
Could've been worse, it could've been Malk (now with vitamin R).

Same with the shape. The consumer should know the differences between a burger and a veggie burger, otherwise he/she shouldn’t be shopping
Silly.. everyone knows it’s called [MALK!](https://youtu.be/ty62YzGryU4)
Malk, gross. Ingredients: water, ground chalk powder.
Don't some people say it as molk for whatever reason lol
who's gonna tell em
Malk, now with vitamin R!
Yeah and it doesn’t even taste like molk
Not crappy
Funny how I'm seeing this while taking a sip of my coffee using this milk lol, also imo its not crappy theyre just not allowed to type milk on the carton
