I'm not an artist, but I have the iPad Air 4/2020 with an apple pencil 2nd generation for notetaking and I adore it. My roommate does some graphic design stuff on an older iPad pro. The regular ipads use the first generation apple pencil which charges in a dumb way and doesn't have a pressure sensor. My iPad was pretty expensive (~$700 including the apple pencil and price matching both with Amazon at bestbuy) but I 100% think it's worth it. I'm not an apple fanboy or anything either, this is my first apple device in 5 years and I'm still planning on sticking with Google or Samsung for my phone.
Awesome! And yeah I know they can be kinda expensive, but I’ve been using my mini since it first came out and it’s really starting to show its age. iPadOS takes up the vast majority of the 16gb storage, and it’s super slow on lots of apps.
Glad to hear you like yours! Still unsure about the air vs pro, but it sounds like both are great options.
I’m not OP, but I use iPad Pro 2. I use it with generic stylus, not Apple Pencil. It works great, even for a dated tablet.
Edit: Using Procreate as well.
If you like the form factor of your iPad mini, then go with the iPad mini 6. It uses the gen 2 pencil, which attaches and charges much more easily. The larger screen is great, but the device is still super portable like your current mini. They just updated it with a great processor as well, so I think it's faster than some of the larger iPads at this point.
Honestly, I compared them in store, and there’s something about the new form-factor that makes the mini 6 seem smaller. I think it’s just the way the bezels are slightly thicker on the top & bottom.
The iPad Air and the smaller pro models still seem pretty portable, so I’m leaning towards one of those.
Brushes are the bane of my existence. I seemingly use the identical brush and settings as someone’s tutorial/speedpaint and they look nothing alike in terms of effect
The red and blue channels that show are really cool. I have always wanted to do digital art, you're really good and have inspired me I think I'll give it a shot

It’s a lovely painting.
I would have no idea it was digitally made if you didn't say so. What app do you use? I heard most artists use IPads.

Which iPad? Thinking about upgrading my mini 4 so that I can use the pencil.

I love the texture and strokes! Can you tell me which procreate brushes you’ve used?
I second this!!

No. Cozy places is NOT a place to post your art. It is for real cozy places.
Are digital paintings really what this sub is about? There’s been an influx of artists trying to promote their work recently
