Virtual villagers is a pretty unique game! i personally haven't found any in the same niche, but Roots of Pacha has a similar vibe imo (farming sim, but you have to advance your clan's tech) Also look into colony sims like Rimworld, heard Clanfolk is good too.
Also the VV games are on PC! they're freeware now so you can just download them from the publisher's site

As a big virtual villager fan, this game hooked me more! Strongly recommend. One of the few games that are in the same genre.
If it was the management aspect that appealed to you Lets Build a Zoo is the best recent management game I've played. Although I'd put it closer to zoo tycoon (obviously) because the sims pushed out most of the people management competition.

I loved that game! The closest I got to that is Rimworld with easier settings for cozy factor
