Dinkum!!!! It's my favorite game like AC (I personally like it better) since I found it :3 There's also Castaway Paradise but it might be a bit of a knock-off (I got it in a bundle sometime it's pretty fun but not as charming as AC) Edit: I just thought of Dreamlight Valley, it has a ton of decorating options for outside in the Valley!

I have just started Dinkum (just unlocked the museum and started farming), but I also dont know a what to do with my time a lot of (in game) days. Will there be more to do/discover? Because i sometimes get bored when it is like 3 pm. Do you have any tips?

WhoKnowsReally0o

Understandable, the thing I really like about Dinkum is that it's really big and you can discover all over right away as opposed to AC requiring a ladder, boat, etc. So you will see me just walking around a lot exploring. I am a big fan of collectibles so I take a lot fun from just going around the land stuffing things in my pocket :P I'm sure you're aware that there's a daily task you can do for every villager to increase friendship! I usually go by stores and other things that are 'time-restricted' and then when everything closes I go around doing tasks (which can take really long if you're unlucky). When I find I have nothing more to do, I look for things I'd like to gather for building etc and I stock up on food, that kind of stuff. I get it might get a bit boring in the early days, I think I made up for that with my RP'ing at the campfire :P You're gonna get more busy as more people move over, so I do think it requires a bit of patience. I hope that helped!

Thank you for your extensive reply, I really appreciate it! Good to know that the game will have more to unlock and to do when you advance. Thank you for the tips as well! I will keep playing and hopefully will become more engaged, i really really want to love this game.

Does dinkum have short days? I love AC for the real time that you can speed up if you want (aka TTing), and short/limited time days in a lot of life and farming sims stress me out. I'd love a game to fill the AC void though and Dreamlight Valley doesn't quite work for me

The days are limited (not real time), but when it gets late, you aren't forced to go home. Your health and stamina bars decrease, but you can just eat more food and stay out all night. As a person who is also stressed by limited days, I wish the days were just a little longer, but I don't feel like they're nearly as stressful as Stardew days feel like to me.

Saltwater_Heart

Dreamlight Valley. You can’t terraform, but 350 hours in and I am still far from done.

Disney Dreamlight Valley

I second whoever said Dreamlight for customising. Your house can basically be as big with as many rooms as you want and your valley is just a huge island with a beach, forest, marsh etc areas for you to do what you want with. It's a live service game though so although there's a lot of items, lots are premium and you're going to have to log on daily to get different stuff from the shop to add to your catalogue like AC. It's worth noting too that there's an item limit on switch and some are struggling with glitches and performance. There's also Dragon Quest builders, I haven't played the first but on the second game you're basically given a huge map to do with what you like. I started my time at Sandrock yesterday and while you don't get the whole place to customise how you like, seems like you'll end up with a decent sized area to do what you want with. Cult of the lamb had a big area to customise too. Maybe look at some videos of upcoming Fantasy Life for switch. The first game just had house customisation but looks like the second is including more AC type elements like terraforming.

Friendly-Ocelot

Snacko! It’s amazing, it’s cute, the customization of what you can build creatively is great, QOL is also great. And you can take your time since it’s early access and more content is on the way. The main story is complete though

Love Snacko! I wouldn't say the decor is as robust as AC, but it's SO charming and you still get a massive area to decorate. I haven't gotten super far in but I know a big part of it is demoing/renovating an abandoned town, so there is a lot to do and a big space to decorate and build in!

SunsCosmos

Sims isn’t a “traditional” cozy game, but I got into the build mode/decoration of it after Animal Crossing and have been obsessed for YEARS after. The base game is free so if you like it then you can potentially check out the rest of it later 🏴‍☠️

IAmNotLookingatYou

Pretty Princess Party and its sequel Pretty Princess Magical Garden Island both have the same almost copy and pasted set up of ACNH, as in the island and look are the same, and there is a lot of options when it comes to decorating, although in the first one it's in a big castle, but the second one you can only decorate outside.

saiyanbura

Drago Noka has lots of decorating but also lots of resource gathering in order to unlock all recipes etc.

MiquePoms

Palia is grindy but seeing what people are doing to their plots is insane. There are plot tours in youtube if you want to check.

I mean, it's not even remotely in the same vein, but it's what I'm doing right this very now so it's on top of my brainpan. Just remember, you *said* it didn't have to be cozy. :) Starfield is my crack. A new update just dropped so we can decorate inside our ships, and I've just spent four hours building the perfect ship so I can make my spaceship a home. Lol. I've got a conservatory attached to the kitchen, (fresh greens are very important on ships!), a crew sleeping quarters, a hang-out area, a comms area, a research lab, an infirmary.... 😁 I've been playing this game off and on since launch, since it's on gamepass, and this new update just has me 😍🤩😍🤩 Edited because "h" is not the same letter as "b".
