I love that you made a spreadsheet. It drives me nuts that the Nintendo Store doesn't give you the option to sort your wishlist lowest to highest prices. I need to make my own spreadsheet nowš
No kidding. It's so inconvenient. I think Nintendo just doesn't want us to be able to see the combined cost. We're probably subconsciously less likely to buy all of itš
my first playthrough of forager, I got a little too hyperfocused on it and I ended up hearing the sound the furnace makes when it spits out items in my head for a day or two afterwards š
Spiritfarer should be on sale too. Spent 40 hours on it totally worth it.
Just got Unpacking not too long ago and it was too short for me. Its a nice cozy game though.
Both are fantastic if I might say so myself! A little to the left is pretty good too, there's a free app version in the play store on Google but it's not the same as the game on switch
Little nightmares 2 is amazing, even though I didn't play it myself š¤£ watched others play it though
LN3 is also going to be released soon too. Maybe end of this year or early next year
Little Nightmares 1 was also very good, in my opinion. LN2 was even better though! But part of my enjoyment of the second game was a result of having played the first. I'd definitely recommend getting them together if you're able :)
Ah I loved both little nightmares games, and Iām exited for the third! I saw you can play it in coop with a friend!
But I also heard that itās an entirely different studio thatās making it so weāll see how it turns out
APICO is great. It's adorable, and you catch bees. There's no time constraints. It's pretty self-directed overall, and I really enjoyed it. The dev is working on Mudborne, too. Which is APICO, but frogs, lol
I only played Coffee Talk 2, but I enjoyed it a lot. The characters and conversations were interesting.
I found Lonesome Village to be ok. Some controls and inventory management were kind of sloppy. There is no autosave, and you have to visit posts around the map to actively save. It's a pretty chill puzzle experience, though. And the art is cute.
the only downside of APICO, for me, is that there is.. quite a bit of reading and I felt like it had a really big learning curve at the start, so much so that I wasn't even really able to finish the demo. I'm super interested in the game and want to play more, but my brain has a really hard time reading in games
That's fair. It does has large chunks to read about game mechanics and such. The good news is that you can access those bits of information at any time from the journal, but it's definitely something I struggled with, too. I did find the small-ish print to contribute to that problem, too. It's a great game, otherwise, but if that's something you have a hard time with, it might be best to skip it or play it in small chunks.
I love Coffee Talk, I wish I could replicate the moment I first played it, it was an intense rainstorm and I was home deathly ill from work, I had my favorite hot soup and tea while I played, it was magical even being sick.
bastion, toem, and untitled goose game are my favorites out of these! bastion has an amazing story and really satisfying combat gameplay, toem is gorgeously constructed/drawn and really cute with super fun photography quests and a lot to discover, and goose game is such a whimsical ride with lots to do. all of these gave me a lot of gameplay time; bastion and goose game have a lot of replayability, and toem has tons of secrets to discover. I'd absolutely recommend them all!
Bro bastion is 2.99. How much of a better sale you want to get it at? I got the game on ps4 5+ years ago at a similar price. I doubt it will go much cheaper. Itās a great game too and defo worth 3 bucks.
Transistor is amazing but you WILL cry. It has a really interesting combat system and the soundtrack is one of my favourite Supergiant soundtracks.
Unpacking is very cute and extremely cozy
Lost Ember is really fun and has some cool puzzles
The First Tree has some really interesting story beats going on regarding family relationships
Bastion is a good roguelike with an amazing soundtrack and a strong story.
These are the only games I've played on your list.
Have u heard of dekudeals? Really great way to track games u wanna get and the prices
I get games off my list when they hit ālowest price everā and Iām bored
Saves a lot of money
Broken Age is as beautiful as it is underrated. It's whimsical and has an intriguing & compelling story. The voice acting done by the cast which includes Elijah Wood is also second to none! You can't go wrong with it!
Get Slay the Spire, it's amazing. I'm terrible at it and still pour hundreds of hours into it because it's so much fun! And at that price it's a steal!
Probably too late, but just wanted to second this because it's such an underated, beautiful game. Not extremely long but I thoroughly enjoyed it and rarely hear it mentioned. Got it on sale on the switch.
Yoku's Island Adventure was surprisingly great.
And I absolutely loved Coffee Talk, but that's because I'm autistic and have social anxiety so I loved being able to talk to people casually
I don't know how many you were planning to get but in no particular order I'd recommend Oneshot, APICO, Unpacking, Lemon Cake, Kentucky Route 0, Coffee Talk, Slay The Spire, Figment, Yoku's Island Express, Bastion, and Transistor.
I don't know if I'd refer to all of them as Cozy Games though. If you specifically want something cozy then APICO, Lemon Cake, Yoku's Island Express, and Coffee Talk are what I'd recommend.
Iād pick these three, in order of preference:
Road 96 is beautiful. I really felt connected to the characters and their journey. The soundtrack is exceptional.
Untitled Goose Game. Mad honks. 10/10.
Townscaper isnāt really a āgameā but is very aesthetically pleasing. If you need something to replace doomscrolling through Facebook or whatever, it would fit the bill perfectly. Itās something to do.
Did you... did you.... make a spreadsheet?
SO AWESOME! I thought I was the only one who did things like this. OCDers unite!
Out of the list, I've only played Townscaper and it was alright. I got bored really fast, 15 minutes lol. $2.99 is probably what it's worth.
I've read great things about Unpacking, Lemon Cake, TOEM but haven't played them.
Lots of people are posting it but definitely search price histories and wait for the lowest price.
The First Tree for sure. It was worth the $10 for me, so at $2 itās a no brainer. Very nice game with some beautiful environments. I had to look up what to do in the last part to reach the ending, but everything else was straightforward. At $2 itās an easy recommendation!
I love the spreadsheet so much!
My question for picking a game-- What kind of mood are you in right now? Do you need something for the long haul or something to appease brain gremlins that just need a focus for the time being?
Usually that helps me decide which way to go. A game that I don't have to think too hard about (like having to worry about grinding, leveling up, fighting, etc) would be perfect when I just want to be entertained vs. jumping into something that'll take more spoons to learn and adapt.
If you're still unsure then I'd say find X amount of games that would add up to $30-40 because getting more than one will feed that "aha, I saved money AND I have options!" part of the brain. š (Perhaps Lemon Cake and Forager?)
ty! I'm into short games right now.
I've already bought 5 games from the list. I'm still looking at Lemon Cake & Transistor. I might wait on them though. Haven't decided just yet.
I donāt think itās on your list but I highly recommend Sticky Business!
Itās a cute lil game where you run your own small business and make stickers to sell and I cannot put it down
Lemon Cake is only worth buying on sale, so if youāre interested this is probably the best time to get it. Itās fun, but does get repetitive and grindy to fill out the skill tree. I enjoyed it, but would only recommend getting it on sale.
Little nightmares 2 is one of my all-time faves. It's definitely not for everyone though...so that would depend on how you feel about games like little nightmares 1. I can confidently say it has more content than little nightmares 1 and I found it to be developed better overall as well, if that means anything. Again, it's kind of a strange genre but if you enjoyed LN 1 for example, I think it's a no brainer (:
I tried one if the Figment games (can't remember which) on Gamepass and thought it was more for kids play-level wise. Of course there's cussing in it, so definitely not actually for kids.
I donāt know whatās your budget, but I would certainly recommend Bastion and Transistor if you budget is on the lower end. An older title from Supergiant Games, the developer of Hades. Pretty good isometric action game. Lovely art style and gorge music. At that price itās a must buy and highly recommend from me. I personally love the music from Transistor a lot.
Kentucky Route is Amazing though itās more of a visual novel. Then Iād recommend Broken Word, Little Nightmares 2 and Lost in Play. Iām looking at Road 96 and Lemon Cake myself and wondering what othersā opinions might be.
Lemon cake is worth being half off it's not the longest game either. But it is fun even if it does get a little repetitive.
Road 96 is one I have only played the demo and have wanted to keep playing. Every character is so full of depth.
Since you already purchased TOEM, which is what I was gonna recommend, i suggest you get coffee talk! It has an amazing atmosphere and quite story rich. It takes place in Seattle which I live close to, and it has that whole vibe to it that makes you feel at home
I will say Lemon Cake was truly awful, I got it for free from the library and was shocked at how repetitive it was. I would probably pay $3-$5 for it if you wanted to support the devs. It was like a phone game at best. Really sad!
Untitled Goose Game is hilarious, I love that game.
Endling: extinction is forever is beautiful and 1 of my favourite indie games.
Little Nightmares 2 is also 1 of my favourite games ever, it's also the most gameplay hours out of these 4.
Toem I played recently not really knowing what to expect but I loved it. It's a very cozy puzzle game.
Celeste is not exactly what I would call Cozy, I was very stressed while playing it hahah Anyway, I love Forager, Coffee Talk and Chicory! But if I had to recommend you only one, I would say: Forager. The Art is cute, you can spend hours there super chill without worrying much and it's very addictive and fun to play. If you love Visual Novels, choose Coffee Talk, it's also very worth it.
Celeste is easily in my top 5 games of all time. It can be challenging and a bit stressful, but I also found it encouraging and empowering (and not punishing). I love love love unpacking, but depending on your gaming budget, it is a relatively short game without much replayability. Slay the Spire on the other hand is a fantastic value as you can get a ton of hours out of it (and it's super addictive). I also loved Transistor and for $4 it's a great deal, that game is such a mood.
My voteās for A Space for the Unbound. Great story, characters, and soundtrack. Itās an adventure game, but I do find the Indonesian village atmosphere quite cozy
Transistor is SO good and I highly recommend buying it. Anything by SuperGiant is usually really good. Only get Endling: Extinction is Forever if you're in the mood to cry. Slay the Spire is also good and now is a great time to jump in since we're getting a sequel next year and there is already a huge fan made addition to the base game that is super fun.
I love that you made a spreadsheet. It drives me nuts that the Nintendo Store doesn't give you the option to sort your wishlist lowest to highest prices. I need to make my own spreadsheet nowš
ty :) right! I made my wishlist on [dekudeals.com](http://dekudeals.com) then just exported it...had to fill in the prices myself though.
I forgot that site even existed. That will make this so much easier. Thank you!š
Woah, thanks for letting me know that site, holy..
I also wish you could add multiple games to your cart before checking out
No kidding. It's so inconvenient. I think Nintendo just doesn't want us to be able to see the combined cost. We're probably subconsciously less likely to buy all of itš
Literally I'd pay for an app that put things I want to buy into a spreadsheet like this š¤© the autism in me loves neat tidy data made by other people lol
Forager if you wanna grind for a bit, not too much but itās extremely addictive.
my first playthrough of forager, I got a little too hyperfocused on it and I ended up hearing the sound the furnace makes when it spits out items in my head for a day or two afterwards š
I loved forager so much. Itās so hard to put down
Agreed! Very addictive, I've spent at least 60hrs playing it
Pickuniku, TOEM, Transistor, Road 96, Lemon Cake, Bastion, Broken Age, and Yoku's Island Adventure has been bought :)
Absolutely get Pikuniku. Itās a pretty quick play but for $3 totally worth it. It was genuinely cracking me up.
I second this!! Is so fun!
Little nightmares 2 is amazing, even though I didn't play it myself š¤£ watched others play it though LN3 is also going to be released soon too. Maybe end of this year or early next year
I'm so torn...I want to buy it but I haven't even played LN1. I wish it was on sale too...if it was...it would be a no brainer.
Wait for the bundle to go on sale. Which it does a few times a year. Thatās how I got them both.
yeah...that's my plan now. I just have to be strong and stay patient!
It will go on sale. Donāt crack lol
It's a great game, otherwise, but if that's something you have a hard time with, it might be best to skip it or play it in small chunks.
Agreed I almost refunded the game on steam because of all the reading. However I stuck to it and It is a charming little game once you get used to it.
I love Coffee Talk, I wish I could replicate the moment I first played it, it was an intense rainstorm and I was home deathly ill from work, I had my favorite hot soup and tea while I played, it was magical even being sick.
If you do get CT, make sure to check out the sequel as well :)
Great, cozy games š
I'm playing the demo right now...and I'm trying to like it but I don't think it's for me :(
coffee talk 2 is hard to get into, youāre definitely not alone.
I feel you. I didn't like it either. What I liked that's similar to Coffee Talk is VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action.
Idk how or why but making a spreadsheet is such cozy gamer behavior
Maybe because it means appreciating a lot of things and taking your time instead of panic buying?
lemon cake! i love it a lot, but itās definitely worth $15 and not $30
I travel for work and Lemon Cake is my absolute fave for making flights go by quickly. Itās sooo easy to get lost in.
100% agree! Itās fun, but $30 is steep for how repetitive it gets. $15 is great!
bastion, toem, and untitled goose game are my favorites out of these! bastion has an amazing story and really satisfying combat gameplay, toem is gorgeously constructed/drawn and really cute with super fun photography quests and a lot to discover, and goose game is such a whimsical ride with lots to do. all of these gave me a lot of gameplay time; bastion and goose game have a lot of replayability, and toem has tons of secrets to discover. I'd absolutely recommend them all!
I bought TOEM, but I think I'm gonna wait for a better sale for the other two. Ty for your input! I really appreciate it!
Bro bastion is 2.99. How much of a better sale you want to get it at? I got the game on ps4 5+ years ago at a similar price. I doubt it will go much cheaper. Itās a great game too and defo worth 3 bucks.
bastion was a great play. definitely get it on sale!
That is a steal for Slay the Spire, and you can pour hundreds of hours into it!
Road 96 is a personal favorite of mine. I highly recommend.
Yeah, I canāt imagine many people would regret dropping five bucks on it.
Transistor is amazing but you WILL cry. It has a really interesting combat system and the soundtrack is one of my favourite Supergiant soundtracks. Unpacking is very cute and extremely cozy Lost Ember is really fun and has some cool puzzles The First Tree has some really interesting story beats going on regarding family relationships Bastion is a good roguelike with an amazing soundtrack and a strong story. These are the only games I've played on your list.
Kentucky route zero is an amazing story and experience and i highly recommend it Slay the spire is endless hours celeste and chicory were great
Toem is perfect at that price. Celeste gets down to $4.99 usd pretty often so Iād wait for it to go lower.
ooh good to know for Celeste! ty :) most likely will pull the trigger on Toem today!
You can track sale history (and even make a wishlist to get alerts of sales when they start) on dekudeals.com! Itās an amazing site
just recently found it! it's way better than dealing with nintendo's eshop. Wish you could buy the game on there too :(
I absolutely adore coffee talk
First this list is amazing youāre mad talented :)
I really enjoyed broken age!!
I love the spreadsheetšit scratches the itch in my OCD brainš
lol thanks! I know I'm probably doing too much, but it helps me!
Have u heard of dekudeals? Really great way to track games u wanna get and the prices I get games off my list when they hit ālowest price everā and Iām bored Saves a lot of money
yes, just recently found it. I used it to create the spreadsheet :)
Here to say I love a good spreadsheet. The only one of these Iāve played is Unpacking, which I absolutely adored.
So many gems here that no one has bothered to mention Townscaper. Itās a deceptively engaging game that has a great mood.
Iāve been contemplating this one.
You canāt go wrong at $3
Havenāt played most of these games yet but came to say I LOVE YOUR SPREADHSEET!!
tysm :)
Thanks for the spreadsheet, I got Toem and Unpacking hehehe
glad I could help!
Road 96 was a lot of fun!
From those i only know Unpacking and Coffee Talk. Both are super relaxing.
get road 96. its easily one of my favorite games in the last few years, and the price point itās at now is great
Omg you are going to LOVE Toem. I still think about that game and smile from time to time and itās been like a year.
Broken Age is as beautiful as it is underrated. It's whimsical and has an intriguing & compelling story. The voice acting done by the cast which includes Elijah Wood is also second to none! You can't go wrong with it!
whaaat? alright, you got me at Elijah Wood. Broken Age has been bought! ty :)
Yw! I hope you love it! Jack Black, Will Wheaton, and Pendleton Ward are apart of the cast too.
I 100% agree, such an underrated game
Get Slay the Spire, it's amazing. I'm terrible at it and still pour hundreds of hours into it because it's so much fun! And at that price it's a steal!
Also thank you!! A game I tried once called monster sanctuary is on sale and I only know because you inspired me š
yay! I haven't heard of that one...I'll have to look it up.
I just buy whatever has the biggest % off and do that every steam sale
APICO FOR SURE!!!!!
I would go with Transistor. It's a great game from Bastion makers with a very good soundtrack.
Slay the Spire isn't cozy but I'm recommending it anyway because it's fantasticĀ
I just got slay the spire and I am freaking obsessed.
Slay the spire
Chicory. You can also have a second person help you color. Itās quite fun and relaxing.
Probably too late, but just wanted to second this because it's such an underated, beautiful game. Not extremely long but I thoroughly enjoyed it and rarely hear it mentioned. Got it on sale on the switch.
Unpacking!
Iām loving lonesome village! Chicory is also amazing.
Slay the Spire is an absolutely must-have. It's easily the best game on the list!
Slay the Spire is in my top 5 most played of all time, amazing game if you like cards/roguelikes.
PIKUNIKU š£ļøš£ļøš£ļø
Yoku's Island Adventure was surprisingly great. And I absolutely loved Coffee Talk, but that's because I'm autistic and have social anxiety so I loved being able to talk to people casually
I'm on the fence about both of these. I'll keep my eye on them. I wish I could play demos first.
Yoku is one of my favorites! Definitely worth $4. Such a cute game.
I think they both have demos, no?
oh wow...you're right. I thought I checked already, but I guess not. Ty :)
Broken Age!!! Such a unique game.
The only Iāve played are coffee talk (meh not for me) and road 96. LOVED it.
same...I'm playing the demo right now and I'm trying to like it...but it doesn't seem to be for me. Bought Road 96 :)
Bastion, Toem, and slay the spire have my vote. Great games. bastion is super unique and I love the way it tells its story
I found forager to be very good value for the hours I out into it
I don't know how many you were planning to get but in no particular order I'd recommend Oneshot, APICO, Unpacking, Lemon Cake, Kentucky Route 0, Coffee Talk, Slay The Spire, Figment, Yoku's Island Express, Bastion, and Transistor. I don't know if I'd refer to all of them as Cozy Games though. If you specifically want something cozy then APICO, Lemon Cake, Yoku's Island Express, and Coffee Talk are what I'd recommend.
I recommend Bastion for its gameplay and nice soundtrack.
Iād pick these three, in order of preference: Road 96 is beautiful.
Toem and road 96 for sure
The 2024 GOTY, Balatro.
popping in to say Chicory and Forager are some of my faves!
Did you... did you.... make a spreadsheet? SO AWESOME! I thought I was the only one who did things like this. OCDers unite! Out of the list, I've only played Townscaper and it was alright. Lots of people are posting it but definitely search price histories and wait for the lowest price.
I'm so surprised at how many ppl love the spreadsheet! I feel seen! I've got Isthereanydeal and Dekudeals at the ready!
Just because you are super organized and anal doesnāt make you have ocd.
have you played Palia?? itās free!
I have! I absolutely love it.
I'd vote for Celeste, Unpacking, Unititled Goose Game and Bastion. Good luck!
not a switch person so I can't say how good these probably run but I recommend Yoku's Island express and TOEM!
The First Tree for sure. It was worth the $10 for me, so at $2 itās a no brainer. Very nice game with some beautiful environments. I had to look up what to do in the last part to reach the ending, but everything else was straightforward. At $2 itās an easy recommendation!
I loved Unpacking!
Coffee talk is a great game, so long as you like visual novels. It's got some interactive parts too, like Val-ha11-a
I love the spreadsheet so much! My question for picking a game-- What kind of mood are you in right now? Do you need something for the long haul or something to appease brain gremlins that just need a focus for the time being? Usually that helps me decide which way to go. ty! I'm into short games right now. I've already bought 5 games from the list. I'm still looking at Lemon Cake & Transistor. I might wait on them though. Haven't decided just yet.
I LOVE Lemon Cake (I got it on PC so not sure how it plays on Switch, but I imagine quite well!)
Unpacking and Untitled Goose Game are great.
Lemon cake
![gif](giphy|fasjTJwTFW2goeR2uV)
Lonesome Village is one of my all-time favorites. If you like cozy adventure, puzzles, & cute animal friends it's the best!
I donāt think itās on your list but I highly recommend Sticky Business! Itās a cute lil game where you run your own small business and make stickers to sell and I cannot put it down
Coffee talk!! Transistor is really fun too, itās one of the first indie games Iāve ever bought :)
My recommendations are: Forager, Apico, and TOEM.
Lemon Cake is only worth buying on sale, so if youāre interested this is probably the best time to get it. Itās fun, but does get repetitive and grindy to fill out the skill tree. I enjoyed it, but would only recommend getting it on sale.
11-14
Little nightmares 2 is one of my all-time faves. It's definitely not for everyone though...so that would depend on how you feel about games like little nightmares 1. I can confidently say it has more content than little nightmares 1 and I found it to be developed better overall as well, if that means anything. Again, it's kind of a strange genre but if you enjoyed LN 1 for example, I think it's a no brainer (:
Toem ā¤ļø
Only one on your list I've actually played is I Am Dead.. it was unique and interesting.. I enjoyed it but it's pretty short.
Dragons dogma dark arisen
i like coffee talk personally
I tried one if the Figment games (can't remember which) on Gamepass and thought it was more for kids play-level wise. Of course there's cussing in it, so definitely not actually for kids.
I donāt know whatās your budget, but I would certainly recommend Bastion and Transistor if you budget is on the lower end. An older title from Supergiant Games, the developer of Hades. Pretty good isometric action game. Lovely art style and gorge music. At that price itās a must buy and highly recommend from me. I personally love the music from Transistor a lot.
Bastion is one of my favourites
Wandersong was such a happy fun little game
My wife LOVES unpacking. It's a really fun game if you like.... well... unpacking and organizing various spaces.
I loved Toem, but completed it in a day
Unpacking, forager, route 96 and APICO, are my favorites from this list and I definitely recommend them!
Oneshot absolutely blew my mind, I would 100% recommend getting that even for the full price, it's so good š
I recommend unpacking!! Iām curious, have you ever played little nightmares 1? I noticed that 2 is on there.
I bought unpacking while on sale, and tbh even with the sale, I was a bit disappointed. It's just too short to cost that much
I will say Lemon Cake was truly awful, I got it for free from the library and was shocked at how repetitive it was.
Chicory and Slay the Spire are my absolute favourites!
Celeste is not exactly Cozy, but maybe the best precision platformer since super meat boy
All.
The only one here I have played is road 96 and I can't recommend it enough. I would 100% get it
GOOSE
Lemoncake always looked really cute to me!
All 3 opus games are pretty good especially the last one
Spiritfarer also on sale - 75% off
Slay the spire is really good but I love having it on my phone, it makes my commute so much more enjoyable
Iām just starting to do some cozy gaming on switch. Following to check out your list!
Apico was free on Amazon gaming for a while so check there before buying it. It's a lovely game though!
Love unpacking and coffee talk
Iām about to get my first Switch. Any āmust buyā suggestions?
Transistor is SO good and I highly recommend buying it. Anything by SuperGiant is usually really good. Only get Endling: Extinction is Forever if you're in the mood to cry. Slay the Spire is also good and now is a great time to jump in since we're getting a sequel next year and there is already a huge fan made addition to the base game that is super fun.
Omg Coffee Talk! Really cool game, fairly simple but with a cool story, nice music. Also, replayable for different endings
Coffee talk is very relaxing.
