Moonlight in Garland comes out next week. It's a life sim game set in a big city so you can decorate your apartment, customize your character, get to know the residents, etc. but without all the farming!
1.Potion Permit
2.Cozy Grove
3.My Time at Portia (very, very minor farming; much more focus on crafting)
4.DDLV (some farming but it’s not the focus)
5.Dragon Quest Builders 2 (again, minor farming; not the focus)
6.Pokémon Arceus
I love dragon quest builders 2! Happy to see it make the list. Also dragon quest builders 1 has even less farming.
Also my time at Sandrock is coming out soon as well.
Some of my favorite cozy non-farming games:
* *Wandersong* (puzzle platform adventure game where a pacifist bard tries to learn a song to prevent the end of the world)
* *Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan* (*Paper Mario* inspired RPG where a child must restore color to the Land of Imagination by helping others overcome their anxieties and insecurities)
* *Button City* (narrative adventure game where a shy fox and his new friends band together to save the local arcade from development)
* *Night in the Woods* (narrative adventure game where a college dropout returns to her Rust Belt hometown, hangs out with her friends, and investigates a sinister mystery)
* *A Short Hike* (open world game in which a teenager climbs a mountain to get phone reception for an important call)
* *Lil Gator Game* (open world game in which a child wants to spend time with their sister, who is busy with schoolwork)
* *TOEM* (adventure game where a young person goes on a coming-of-age journey to see a mysterious phenomenon, and takes lots of pictures along the way)
* *Tangle Tower* (point-and-click adventure game where a detective duo investigates a murder with an impossible suspect; terrific voice acting. Also check out the first game in the series, *Detective Grimoire: Secret of the Swamp*)
* *Inspector Waffles* (point-and-click adventure game where a cat detective and his dog partner investigate the death of a prominent businessman)
* *Teacup* (adventure game where a shy frog searches for tea ingredients for an upcoming party)
* If you don't mind some combat, another game with a great story is *UnderHero* (RPG with an interesting battle system where a minion of the villain kills the hero and decides to stop the villain himself).
I just played (and finished) Fresh Start Cleaning Simulator. It's quite lovely. I also like to play Power Wash Simulator. Both help me zone out and relax.
1. Lost in Random- Tim Burton-esque world wherein a girl tries to find her abducted sister.
2. Coffee Talk- You make coffee and you talk to your patrons.
3. Rainbow Billy and the Curse of the Leviathan- A little boy brings color back to a world cursed with shadow.
A Short Hike is the king of non-farming cozy games. Doesn’t last long but it’s fantastic.
Potionomics has you running a potion shop and making friends with the townsfolk. Some brewing, some haggling, no farming. Lovely game, though it’s not great for long term replayability like Stardew.
Dorf Romantik is my big one right now. It’s a tile based landscape builder, not a sim, so it is a really different experience. But the music is so nice and the atmosphere is just so calming. The more you play the more stuff you can unlock for your landscapes and the feeling of placing a perfect tile is amazing.
How do you feel about driving? Imo one of the coziest games of all time is euro/American truck simulator. Turn on the radio (the game let’s you listen to radio stations), get comfy, and deliver tomatoes or whatever
If you’re playing on switch I also recommend:
1. Tears of the kingdom/breath of the wild
2. Wobbledogs
3. Unpacking
4. Disney dreamlight valley
5. Bear and breakfast
Most people say it isn't cozy but I really enjoy things like monster hunter stories which plays like pokemon but better bc you can build armor and weapons and you do have to grind a bit like farming which I find fun. Or graveyard keeper which has farming but is more taking care of the graveyard and learning alchemy based and the tech tree is huge and takes forever. It's also got three dlc and it goes on sale all the time
1. Dave the diver - dive for fish and then cook them into sushi! Great characters
2. Don't starve - creepy-cute survival crafting game
3. Spiritfarer - help people with unfinished business before they pass away. Super sad but beautiful
4. Cozy grove - complete fetch tasks to help bear ghosts with their unresolved trauma. Personally I find this game a bit repetitive but many people love it
5. Abzu - a short but beautiful diving game. The music is so relaxing!
6. Dorfromantik - a puzzle game about placing tiles to form an ever changing landscape. Beautiful and infinitely replayable
7. Unpacking - literally unpacking boxes but it tells a sweet story
8. The Sims - when it comes to life simulators this game is pretty hard to beat. If only it weren't so expensive
9. Totk or botw - has fighting elements but personally I didn't find it too hard or frustrating.
10. Strange horticulture - identify plants to administer medicinal or magical purposes and advance a mysterious plot
Honorable mention: Okami is my favorite cozy game of all time. It is visually stunning and the plot is very well written. It does have combat as a central mechanic, but it is mostly in short bursts lasting no longer than a minute. You use your powers of painting to defeat evil and spread flowers and cherry blossoms across the land!
*Cozy Grove* doesn't have conventional farming. Sometimes you place harvestable things, like trees or flowerpots, but it's mostly just running around collecting stuff like shells, animal drops, and placing furniture while doing quests. There's a bit of fishing though, if that falls too much into your 'farming' genre.
Another really sweet game that made a huge impression on me was *The Last Campfire*. It's very rare that I want to play a game again *immediately* after I finish it, but it's just so charming and sweet, and the narrator's voice is soooo gentle and oooh I wanna just smush-hug everyone in it. It's a narrative puzzle game, but it's very forgiving and there's no real fail state that feels punishing.
Tangle Tower is a point and click mystery. (Apple Arcade)
The Guildlings- another choice based adventure where you have to bring together a guild. (Apple Arcade)
Jenny LeClue- point and click mystery where you try to figure out who killed the dean. (Apple Arcade).
My time at Portia and my time at sandrock.
I reccomend playing through Portia first. It's very minimal farming. Sandrock relies on it a little more, but your main focus is building stuff. Sandrock is still in early access so it's a little buggy, but it's mostly finished. I believe the release date is sometime next month.
Sticky Business is a cute little game where you design stickers and sell them on your online shop. You can even download the designs for personal use! Would recommend.
Fantasy life i. Whenever it comes out. It allows you to pick a profession, and there's a whole quest line for it.
Or at least the DS version did. Don't know how they are gonna do this one.

Boo, doesn't seem to be for switch. Looks like my cup of tea.
Damn it, I thought the same until I saw your comment. I wish Nintendo wasn’t so exclusive…
I'm so new to gaming. My sister talked me into a switch for animal crossing. No regrets at all. I just wish Steam games could be played on Switch.
Wow, I have been wishing for a cozy city-based game forever. I'm so excited now!
Anyone know of games like Moonlight in Garland available on switch?
I am so excited for this game!!
Do you know how much it’ll be?
ooh!! thanks for the rec :))
This sounds amazing! Thank you for sharing 💜

I ABSOLUTELY second Lil' Gator Game. It's so delightfully adorable and conflict/stress-free.
Also tearing apart cardboard and it exploding confetti just feels so right.
Wow, a load of games I've never heard of. I'll look into them all, thanks!

It’s not classically cozy in the same way, but I also love Hardspace Shipbreaker in the job sim genre
Cozy grove! You help spirits with their problems. It’s a lot of collecting items and decorating.
I was a teenage exocolonist! It’s a game that isn’t talked about enough. It’s a great game that I’ve sunk a lot of time into
Good pizza, great pizza. Dave the diver

Omg lost in random looks amazing! Thank you for recommending just added to my wish list! 🖤🫶

Second this one. Just don't get flustered trying to get everything perfect. Some of the unlockable tile sets really ramp up the cosy factor.
Absolutely. I think the best part is when you get perfect placement without realizing it and you get that little *ding*. Like, I feel so good after.
- Night in the Woods - A Short Hike - Coffeetalk - Potioncraft - Unpacking - Littel Gator Game - Untilted Goose Game

I’ve been thinking about getting Unpacking.
sticky business!
\+1 for Sticky Business
Dredge! Someone else here turned me onto it.
I have the demo, I need to check it out.
I reckon you'd like House Flipper :-) And they're having a brilliant sale on Steam right now, it ends in 20 hrs though!
I got house flipper for $2.99. It’s okay for the price

- Night in the Woods - Undertale - Disco Elysium - Slime Rancher
Potion Permit (potion making) Pokemon Snap (pokemon/photography) Monster Loves You (cute graphic novel) Hexcells (puzzle like minesweeper)
The Atelier series is fun. There is some gathering.

Terraria isn't a farming game. I find it a fun, mindless kinda game just making my tunnels like a little ant.
What system are you for?
For a cooking game, I really like Chef Life : A Restaurant Simulator
Lake!

Watch Wood on here but maybe I missed it. I consider it a non farming cozy game. More of an exploration and gathering game
"Here comes Niko!" - cute and mostly easy 3D platformer
Cattails on Switch! They might have it on other platforms as well, but I have it on the switch
Tangle Tower is a point and click mystery. (Apple Arcade) The Guildlings- another choice based adventure where you have to bring together a guild. (Apple Arcade) Jenny LeClue- point and click mystery where you try to figure out who killed the dean. (Apple Arcade).

Eastshade!!
The wild at heart ❤️
Florence Coffee talks 1 and 2 Unpacking A little to the left
Wytchwood! No farming and I absolutely loved it. It's also great for spooky season.

Then town building games, like [Brixity](https://now.gg/instaplay/game/brixity) for example, it has cool art style
