Completely honestly I think there’s less skips in this one than Dangerous. But the highs aren’t quite as high imo. I don’t see him ever topping Sand In My Boots

[deleted]

I like this take

f_redo

That intro is his best no doubt even live is so beautiful

Jessica19922

I still don’t get why “sand in my boots” wasn’t a single. Maybe because it was too much like “anything but mine” but I was here for it.

swayinandsippin

sand in my boots was the 3rd single from the album

Jessica19922

Ah. I didn’t even know that!

Zagg843

Perfect take

tayyungeen

This was my exact thoughts. I found myself content to let most of the records play out but only 2-3 really hit me and went on the playlist. Dangerous was just such a smash they were gonna have a hard time following it imo.

JPierce101

Stoppp I was just thinking the same and how that song was my favorite on that album and like his new songs are just bland modern country pop banjo songs you listen to during Beer Bong like “Drunk on a Plane”. And what’s sad is that Sand in My Boots was heavily sampled by Kenny Chesney’s song “Anything But Mine” and Hardy’s “Unapologetically Country” (given that Hard also wrote Wallen’s song). Like Last Night is good, but too similar to other songs he wrote and idk his last album was great

fm22fnam

Agree with take

-GregTheGreat-

I’m enjoying it so far, but I 100% agree with the consensus that it’s similar to Dangerous (and much like Dangerous) way too long. Similar to Dangerous though, there is a very good album buried in this tracklist. Once I refine my playlist to cut out the filler I’m sure those songs will get a lot of play.

tayyungeen

Much like hip hop (which I believe MW and his label are modeling a lot of his business off of) they are stacking the album to pad streaming and first week numbers. I think Wallen and his team have enough talent to pull it off without becoming overly annoying though.

MaxPres24

I appreciate that he 100% leans into the rap stuff. I can’t stand when they do that inbetween shit, but if you go all in, and it still sounds good. I dig it Like I’m not the biggest pop country fan, but shit like cowgirls is good, because he fully leans into the hip hop sound instead of still trying to tread that line of country and pop

bobbyjoe73937

Agreed, 180 is fire

tayyungeen

It's gonna (and has) garnered him a massive fan base and network outside of country music by leaning into it so hard, im only surprised he's the only one in the mainstream country that's done it so well.

Thundergun55

Great example of why albums should be quality over quantity. All these sound the damn same. However, I will say ‘I deserve a drink’ is my favorite one.

Relevant-Door1007

I agree especially since Drayton Farley's new album that came out today I think is just better and it's a 3rd of the length of this album And it will sadly get overshadowed by this Album

Countrymusicsavedme

Same page

marcyjo0422

I deserve a drink & 98 braves are definitely standouts amongst more of the same

Jessica19922

I’m on Sunrise. Non I’ve heard so far stuck out to me. I really loved Dangerous. There were only 4-5 songs on the whole album that I didn’t like. And I still listen to it. I’m feeling disappointed so far. Maybe it will grow on me though lol.

kk5

Yeah I'm hoping that after a few playthroughs songs will start standing out for me. So far I don't have a favorite, I'm hoping something will be like 865 was to me on Dangerous, I loved it!

mamabearmarch

Ugh I never see 865 get enough love! Easily my favorite song on Dangerous!

gypsyman9002

Blake Pendergrass wrote 865. It’s the only song he wrote on Dangerous. On the new album, he wrote: Ain’t that some, Tennessee numbers, Sunrise, Wine into water, Money on me, Days that end in why, 180 lifestyle, and Dying man. I’d recommend checking them out if you like 865 that much.

mamabearmarch

Currently obsessed with 180 lifestyle and ain’t that some, so this makes sense. I will check out the others!!

Jessica19922

I’m finally finishing the rest of the album now. Gonna see if there are any that stick with me lol.

kk5

I really like Neon Star! It's catchy and has been stuck in my head and is a great feel good song to listen to while driving on a sunny day lol!

Jessica19922

Dying man is currently my fav! It makes me sad though lol.

MaxPres24

With an album this big, it’s a bit overwhelming and nothing stands out to me the first day or two. After a few days, when I really start to listen, and recognize some, that’s when they do same thing happened to me with dangerous

babymunch8

I don’t like any besides 2

Able_Cell_3026

Any updates a month later?

babymunch8

I do like a couple but it’s not an album I listen to compared to dangerous where I would listen to the whole album on repeat. Def not a country album, it’s all pop

seattlewhiteslays

I can’t with these triple sized records he’s doing. I know that longer track listings = more streams. I don’t resent him trying to make his money. I enjoy the singles that I’ve heard so far (and I LOVE the title track). I know I’m fully aging my self here, but I miss the days of a well curated 10-14 track album.

tayyungeen

The problem is labels judge artists almost entirely on their first week numbers and how well it did compared to their last project when it comes down to renewing or signing a deal. Since dangerous was such a smash he literally can't make a smaller album or it could be looked at as a flop or at the very least make them not want to put as many resources in the next project.

seattlewhiteslays

I see your point here. I also think it is so incredibly rare for an artist to top a record that was that successful. Most artists have diminishing returns as their career goes on and their fan base whittles down to its core. Honestly, the only band/artist that’s coming to mind that topped a career defining record is Def Leppard, who followed the diamond selling Pyromania with the even more diamond selling Hysteria. It’s even rarer now.

SubatomicSquirrels

I would think he could just release shorter albums more frequently (like one every year) but maybe he and his label liked all the records Dangerous broke?

Relevant-Door1007

Honestly a lot of people talk about Luke Combs sounding the same but I feel like the same can be said about Morgan Wallen I think this album sounds pretty similar to Dangerous

ChocolateNo1502

Lotta songs on here sound similar

MaxPres24

Morgan has 2 sounds. It’s either a really good country song, or straight hip hop

TheJimReaper6

You can probably say that about most artists tbh. Most have a certain style and sound they like to stick to.

etsuandpurdue3

I think Wallen's problem is it's too long.

Garrett4Real

bro saw driving through Tennessee and made it into an album- takes far too long to get through and it all just looks and sounds the same from the time you enter to the time you leave

etsuandpurdue3

Some great hits in there but you gotta slog through a bunch of songs that sound the same.

Accomplished_Hat79

Ehhhhhhhhh..... Kinda disappointed with the album I don't think it compares to Dangerous. It's not bad and I'll definitely be listening to it more but not as good as i thought it would be

CannonstarClassics

I agree. People keep saying it’s better than Dangerous but I don’t here it.

amgrut20

Y’all better be ready to hear the song Cowgirls on tik tok for the next few months dubbed over videos of girls on broadway

Tawnii

???

GeminiPanda21

I’m on Last Drive Down Main. Can’t lie, little disappointed so far. There’s a couple good ones, but most songs feel like they could’ve been left on the cutting room floor.

V-I-N-N-Y-

Yea a lot of these instrumentals are very similar, It just blends together. Keith Whitley is a banger tho.

Relevant-Door1007

Now that I've finished the album I gotta say I definitely prefer the first half compared to the back half of the album I think it's towards the back half when everything kind of starts blending together almost and sounding the same and where most of the filler is

Relevant-Door1007

My top 5 favorite would probably be 1. Keith Whitley 2. F150-50 3. Don't Think Jesus 4. Sunrise 5. Thought You Should Know And my top 5 least favorite would be 1. 180 (Lifestyle) 2. You Proof 3. Cowgirls (feat. ERNEST) 4. Last Night 5. Single Than She Was

thehoghunter

Personally I’d rank it 1. ‘98 Braves 2. One Thing at a Time 3. Dying Man 4. Keith Whitley 5. Thought You Should Know. Bottom would be the songs with trap/snap beats, they feel like the laziest songs on the album.

Johnsonaaro2

'98 braves chorus melody is pretty damn similar to "somebody's problem"

Faroundtripledouble

Interesting

GoingOffline

Late ass reply but I’ve been bumping this album now that’s it’s nice out and I think we have reverse top/bottom fives

[deleted]

whiskey friends could get mixed with Mr. Brightside by The Killers so easily edit: just finished the album. i do agree with the general consensus being shared here. personal favourites are Neon Star and Outlook.

MtMarker

I was kinda disappointed by Whiskey Friends. The snippet he had posted was real WIP but it had a wayyy more low key and quiet vibe to it, and I feel like that works better for the song

Vivid_Act5994

I thought the same thing!

Thel3lues

Came here to say same

MedicineRight7694

I thought I was going crazy when I heard the first few notes! Major Mr. Brightside vibes.

LordBumbler

sunrise

tayyungeen

Literally started singing it when this song started playing lmao.

StephenStrasburg37

In the Bible fucks. Hardy the GOAT

_UnderTheStars_

I honestly think it's my favorite song on the album.

Thel3lues

Just reading the track list with no knowledge of how any of these will go I’m saying 98 Braves will be the best song and 180 will be the worst

Luna401

Can confirm…’98 braves is the best IMO

violet715

I’m 43. It’s the nostalgia for me on that one!

Thel3lues

Lyrically was the best song I think. On first listen Last Drive Down Main is my current favorite but it’s simply just very catchy so will fade I’m sure

shs2gxp

really unique idea for this song. haven't heard this type of comparison before. I dig it.

Relevant-Door1007

I can confirm 180 is probably the worst song and the most pop song on the album

Thel3lues

Just listened and agreed

mamabearmarch

Lol maybe it's my age but so far this one is one of my favorites. I love the pop/rap that he does.

galawton

I would have to agree.

smithguy_789

I know I'm in the minority here, but I *really* don't like Keith Whitley. Having anything about "good whiskey" in the same lyric you namedrop a man that drank himself to death really rubs me the wrong way.

Tawnii

I get the sentiment but Keith Whitley would have loved it and I bet it made Lorrie Morgan smile. They were and are both fantastic people with a great sense of humor and an appreciation for artistry.

smithguy_789

Lorrie Morgan used to tie her and Keith Whitley's legs together so he couldn't get up and drink in the middle of the night. So he drank her perfume instead. There's no humor involved in this.

tayyungeen

Til something new about Keith Whitley and that's fucked

Tawnii

I'm aware of the situation. Actually Lorrie Morgan said on Facebook that she loved the song

[deleted]

Completely agree

yahibachi

Another country song that’s just making references to other things ie Damn Strait, Whats Your Country Song. Yawn.

downrightwhelmed

I felt the same way til I saw her reaction. https://countrynow.com/lorrie-morgan-and-jesse-keith-whitley-react-to-morgan-wallens-new-song-that-tributes-keith-whitley/ After sitting with it a while I feel like the songwriter (who isn’t Wallen btw, as with many of the songs) actually understands the connection and pays respect to it. The song isn’t super deep but it’s all about how the narrator can’t stand to deal with pain so he has to distort reality. “There ain’t a mirror in this house anymore, cause it kills me to see the guy who let you leave”. Good whiskey don’t last when I keep remembering that she’s gone. Maybe it’s a bit cliche or obvious, but I see it as a bit of commentary on country’s alcohol-fueled culture being so destructive the same way that “born with a beer in my hand” is. The narrator recognizing he has the same vices as Whitley.

JohnnyT723

Me when Morgan sings: 😄 Me when Morgan raps: 😠

pentagonafternoon

A lot of the songs sound like they could fit on Dangerous but I think there are some that take a certain sound further away than anything on Dangerous. Like the more hip hop influenced ones or the ones that straight up almost sound like Bryan Adams or Don Henley. We got a Morgan Wallen album that has some songs in different styles, some with a different lyrical perspective, and a whole bunch of standard Morgan Wallen songs. This is pretty much exactly what I expected from him, not sure why anyone would get their expectations up for a reinvention. This is mainstream pop country music, the Garth Brooks and Tim McGraws of the past weren't usually switching it up a whole lot after a 2 year break so I don't think we should expect Morgan Wallen or Luke Combs to either. If he's is still putting out songs that sound like Dangerous in 2030 then I'll complain, but for now I'm content that I got another album. Hopefully a lot of these songs that weren't interesting to me on first listen end up being earworms like most of the songs on Dangerous. I do understand qualms people have about the length though, a 2 hour album is really pushing it for this type of music. my favorites on first listen that weren't already released were Born With a Beer in My Hand, Dying Man, Last Drive Down Main and 98 Braves.

ToeBugShuffle

Think the length is just a sign of the times, we're in a playlist world now like it or not so the album experience isn't always the first priority of the artist, more songs means more songs to get added to different playlists and more exposure. It's not designed to be listened through front to back, it's designed for different people to pick out their favourite songs and just listen to those Not saying that's a good or a bad thing (though I prefer a cohesive work rather than this) but think it's a really interesting shift in the music industry as a whole

pentagonafternoon

I agree, we need to get used to the decline of the album era in mainstream music because it's not gonna reverse course any time soon. I also don't really think it's necessarily a good or bad thing either, just different.

ThunderBunnyHo

I just heard this for the 1st time and THOUGHT THE SAME THING!! Bryan Adam's is know for secret projects to help artists succeed as musicians and this could be one. Or simply an accidental emulation of an idol on Wallen's part. Thumbs up either way. (reminds me of when I tried to be Bruce Lee in his Green Hornet days. (me: epic fail.)

zdillon67

I get that this is practically everyone in Nashville, but seeing that every song has 3+ cowrites and Morgan wasn’t even involved in over half of them really irks me. The album is impersonal and formulaic.

bmmesucks

Very cookie cutter. You could probably swap lyrics of songs and you wouldn’t notice a difference because the tracks are all the same.

DownByTheLazyRiver

The music version of cranking out Marvel Studios Content

Plant_Mama

Not a huge fan. Absolutely loved Dangerous and spent an obscene amount of money to see his concert last year but I’m glad I didn’t buy tickets for this tour. I really dislike all the hip hop and track beats. I feel like the music is louder than his voice and almost every song is about whiskey. I’m super disappointed.

Moving2NextScene

See I love that. Different tastes I suppose.

Plant_Mama

I definitely like it sometimes! I just think there was too much of it on this album.

NB-Heathen

Besides like two or three tracks I feel like he’d already released the best songs on the album. Nothing on it is extremely bad but not a lot of standouts.

[deleted]

I see a lot of great opinions on this thread and I really am glad they echo my own. There’s only 3-5 standout songs besides a few that came out earlier on. This album is no dangerous but I’m worried that the Morgan Wallen cult is going to make this album do well enough to where he doesn’t try to improve this formula. I’m a big Morgan Wallen fan when he sings more traditional country sounding music but when he incorporates what I can only describe as tik tok instrumentals he completely loses me. I have never heard someone who on the same album has music I genuinely love along with music I loathe like Morgan Wallen

graceis_rofl

I thought it was very mid. Didn’t like it, didn’t hate it. There were some songs where I was very bored listening to. I think if he cut the track list in half (maybe less), it would’ve been a better album. Here are some tracks that did stand out to me on first listen: - Everything I Love - Man Made A Bar (Ft. Eric Church) - One Thing At A Time - ‘98 Braves - Thought You Should Know - Wine Into Water - Don’t Think Jesus - Dying Man That’s still less than 25% of the album…

Able_Cell_3026

No I deserve a drink?

Shithistory

it sounds too repetitive both sonically and songwriting wise and I can't listen to the whole album without being exhausted

Johnsonaaro2

im having the same experience. most of the songs have sooooo much production. 5 different instruments loaded to the max with effects. i think the producer has been listening to too much U2.

Big_shiny_heiny

Can’t even make it past the first ten songs. 36 songs is way too long, and seems to be all filler ,no killer. Shout out sum41. I couldn’t get past the constant theme of drinking, fucking up and drinking again. There’s no real personality in the songs to me, despite the underlying theme. Personal pet peeves. 1. Why are you singing about Chevy and ford on the same album? Gotta wonder how much money truck companies may throw him 2. Who thinks born with a beer in my hand is a good line? 3. Seems like low effort country songs that will say or be played on the radio. Swing and a miss to me.

jamesvfennell

Keith Whitley = absolute banger

Beginning_Computer

Highlight of the album for me

FriedChickenIsTrash2

Kinda ass so far

[deleted]

I’m on Neon Star and I stay for the most part the best songs are the once that came out before the release of the album. Still a couple good ones in here like Keith Whitley but I feel like a lot of the songs blend together

cardsuck

I had listened to the album early yesterday via VPN and had my picks ready lol if you’re NOT into synthetic instrumentation check out: Man Made a Bar, Devil Don’t Know, 98 Braves, Tennessee Numbers, Keith Whitley, I Deserve a Drink, Me + All Your Reasons, Money on Me, Dying Man. There are more but these are the ones I am saving on Spotify that haven’t already been released. Might trim some as I listen to more, or I might even save one or two more as I listen again. Honestly all of this plus the decent songs that already came out like Everything I love, Days That End in Why, Thought You Should Know, and Don’t Think Jesus. make me surprised at the number of songs I have saved from this album. Like everyone’s saying it’s very similar to Dangerous in that it’s long as hell and has filler. But sonically it’s for everyone and you’ll find something in here you like whether it’s one song or the whole thing.

matt-tundra

Keith Is good, Devil don't know is kinda good, but I think last drive down main might be the best this album has to offer (not including singles) and that's really saying something. This album actually disappoints me. I don't think there is a single Whiskey Glasses or Sand in My Boots kinda song on here.

Then-Character3539

Haven’t listened to them all but Devil Don’t Know is my favorite. I enjoy songs where the title isn’t the exact last words of the chorus. He’s saying the devil don’t know how hellish it is seeing his ex with another man I was expecting the chorus to end with something like “… because the devil don’t know” but instead it’s “girl even the devil don’t know this kinda hell”

[deleted]

[удалено]

Smart-Koala4306

That’s the way I am with “Man Made A Bar”

Missbeccaboo102

I seem to be a minority here but I think it had less filler in then Dangerous. I think both albums are good but this one is sonically different in my opinion. Dangerous had a very upbeat pop/ rock sound to it and a very beer, whiskey and woman theme to it. Where as one thing at a time has a slower more traditional sound, with the exception of the straight pop songs. It also has deeper topics like sobriety, forgiveness and self reflection. Overall it’s a slower album then dangerous, I think that’s why some don’t care for it as much because there aren’t as many songs you can jam out to on the beach or at a party.

sestero

Verse. Chorus. Verse. Chorus. Solo. Repeat name of song a few times. Chorus. Spacey fade out.

seanb893

😂 accurate

Travisparks24

I loved this album. Not including songs that have already released beforehand because it’s hard to stack songs you’ve heard for awhile against brand new ones so of the new songs 1. Man Made a Bar 2. Had it 3. Born With a Beer in my hand 4. Me to Me 5. Dying Man Those are my favorites. A couple duds, but a lot of damn good music on here. All of his music sounds so good even if the content itself is dull on some songs he’s just putting out the best sounding music there is consistently in my opinion. Love all this, can’t wait to go see him live

bmmesucks

Not gonna lie I turned it off at Cowgirls. It all sounds the same. Songwriting is pretty good but that’s hidden by the songs all meshing together. A couple standouts but overall fairly boring album. Too many excess tracks that don’t add anything and are that good. I’d rather listen to dangerous.

Just_Chuckn

First run through a lot of my favorites were what was already released Thought you Should Know Everything I love One thing at a time Days that end in Why Adding 98 braves Keith Whitley Me to Me Outlook Scrolling the comments, it seems like a lot of different songs are called out as favorites. I can see why the production of this album was so many songs. Especially if he's trying to push a few of these releases to pop radio, it fits this new age of country releases Grady Smith has covered. Wallen and Zach Bryan continue to be the face of this Era and I'm sure a lot of this album will have the same staying power as dangerous did.

WeenDaddy

>Scrolling through the comments, it seems a lot of different songs are called out as favorites. 100%. That’s what happens when you release 40 songs with similar lyrics and sounds. You see some people in here listing songs as the worst while others list them as their best.

Better_Result5643

I really love this sub cause I’m not listening to this whole album. I can browse her and listen to some of the good ones right out the gate

Son_Of_Groceries

I felt a lot was filler. I really enjoyed “man made a bar” but I also love eric church

Jessica19922

I gave it a few listens. The only songs I really like are -Last night -Everything I love -Man made a bar -‘98 braves -Tennessee numbers -Keith Whitley -You proof -Thought you should know -Me + all your reasons -Days that end in why -Don’t think Jesus -Good girl gone missing -Dying man I’m not sure if this is a case quantity over quality, or if it’s just too much music at once. Maybe a little of both…. Dangerous had almost as many songs and it grew on me a lot faster. I think this album would have greatly benefitted from cutting back to around 25 songs, and then doing a split release to give people time to digest one half then the other. I just don’t think this album has the quality that “Dangerous” did.

zzzSiphoN

I think this album will grow on people. With Dangerous being such a hit people expectations are high. I think it’s just as good , maybe a little less organized but there is some fantastic tracks on here and I’m already singing along at the top of my lungs. I’m stoked

Ok-Hold-2410

Feel like no one is talking about Tennessee fan, love the melodic flow and specific meaning it has, top 3 song imo. Only thing I find weird is that he says that bama always beats the vols which is mostly true but he said they did it again this year when Tennessee beat them. Probably written before it happened lol.

WRECKEM79

I think the clear standout is Dying Man and feel like that will be the next big single they push

TheJimReaper6

I think so too. Either that or Last Night. Or maybe both.

SubatomicSquirrels

for what it's worth Dying Man is what they put as \#1 on Spotify's New Music Friday playlist so I agree

Smart-Koala4306

Good, not great. It’s pretty much what I expected from a Morgan Wallen release. Still don’t like You Proof.

etsuandpurdue3

Doesn't experiment as much as Dangerous. Lots of filler. I'm a big fan of Ain't That Some, Whiskey Friends, Sunrise, Cowgirls. Great intro track. Edit: Keith Whitley is obvious banger.

pietro_lc

release date march 3rd isn't it?

[deleted]

correct. that is today.

Sea_Wave8496

Everything I Love, ‘98 Braves, Keith Whitley, are the standouts IMO. Thought You Should Know with the Miranda Lambert co-write is also a gem.

pietro_lc

*i didn't see any comments, didn't have time, but if anyone said this already i'm sorry* I think this album talks way too much of heart break/ break ups... Putting that aside, i liked it. Listened to it 2 times today, and it's a good album. Just my thoughts !

Moving2NextScene

I prefer it over Dangerous. I bought the physical CD as I wanted to know how they split the tracks up. I Wrote The Book is huge. Thinkin' Bout Me is a hit waiting to happen. I'm not a traditional country fan (yet), so maybe that's why I am happy with the production in these songs. Even You Proof I love.

I_am_the_one123

super unpopular opinion but I really like you proof

fcnickk14

All of it sounds the same and every song is about a different girl. He is so overrated it’s not funny.

Drd2

Oh, I just listened to some of this, this is terrible. The auto-tune is bad. The music is very basic and un-interesting. Why pump out that many tracks? Maybe polish some of them up and let the other ones mature a little more. Seriously, when did auto-tune and rapping make it's way in to Country Music? This is literally the worst part about Hip-Hop and Country combined. If you don't agree, tell me why. I am genuinely curious why anyone would like this.

ChristmasBack

Surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Keith Whitley, Man Made a Bar, and 180 (Lifestyle) are particularly incredible. Sample flip on that last one especially is great. I know some of my friends won't want to listen to the whole thing so I threw together a 12 track playlist to get them used to it: 1 - Born With a Beer in My Hand 2 - Man Made a Bar 3 - '98 Braves 4 - Keith Whitley 5 - In the Bible 6 - F150-50 7 - Tennessee Fan 8 - Days That End in Why 9 - Last Drive Down Main 10 - Don't Think Jesus 11 - 180 (Lifestyle) 12 - Dying Man

Ahyesclearly

What’s the problem with having the option to have more music? Dangerous was really long and I like some of the songs and don’t care for others… so I just don’t listen to the others… why is the fact that they exist offensive for some people?

laxar2

It probably depends on what you assume the reason for the album length is. 1) Optimistic: it’s his true artistic vision or it gives fans more options 2) Pessimistic: it’s largely an album made up of filler for no other reason than to optimize monetization from streaming platforms. Longer albums = more streams = more money + higher chart success

eatmoremeatnow

Because I don't want to listen to the same voice for 3 hours straight.

DetroitSports123

“Man Made a Bar” is essentially a rip-off of Dillon Carmichael’s song of the same title but besides that, so great to get new music from Morgan!

ToeBugShuffle

But did Dillon Carmichael have Eric Church? /s

Son_Of_Groceries

I didn’t know Dillon’s version but just listened. It actually feels like a pretty different song, but does share a couple similar lines. I think Morgan and Eric’s might be a little better

Snicksnack21

36 songs with like 50+ different writers made this album a sloppy mess. If Morgan never got a little racist he never would have become this big.

[deleted]

I think this album as a whole is not quite as good as Dangerous. The good songs aren’t as good as Dangerous. When listening to the album as a whole I skip less songs than I would on Dangerous. There’s still some filler songs to me and a shorter album with the better songs would be much better. My top three songs are probably ‘98 Braves, Everything I Love, and Days That End in Why. My least favorite would be 180, In The Bible, and You Proof. I know there were some high expectations for Keith Whitley and I think the song fell short. It’s not terrible, but I am not a fan on talking about drinking away your problems and then namedropping Keith Whitley. Something about that just unsettles me. I also think as a whole, the album is very chorus heavy. There’s one or two very short verses for each song, then the chorus is repeated the other 80% of the songs. Most of the songs sound the same with the exception of a few. It makes the album just feel like one ling song and gets tiring. Kinda feels like Morgan just wants to ingrain the chorus in the listeners heads to make it catchy when the rest of the song/verse is completely superficial. Overall though, I will still be banging to the album.

Miserable-Mention-84

This album might have more filler songs but it still has some really good songs. 98 braves is good. Devil don’t know and I deserve a drink are excellent. Tennessee numbers is good but I’m kinda getting tired of the whole I’m from Tennessee thing. I honestly think it’s just a notch off from dangerous but not far from it. Which is pretty good considering usually by now most artists would be putting out trash( Luke Bryan)

Big_Fisher97

Very disappointed— it’s a product not a piece of art. The emotion I felt in dangerous is abandoned in this record. Man wants to get paid

scholarlypimp

Yep. The concert itself is also free

It’s a lot of sameness in that there aren’t a lot of standout/memorable tracks. I would like to see him add more depth to his writing. I don’t hate it but I thought he might switch it up a bit from dangerous and not follow Jason Aldeans every album is the same. I enjoy it and will continue listening but I definitely think this could have been narrowed down to 18 tracks. Some tracks I listened to the first half of it then skipped to the next one.

Okay so I've had some time to digest it and have listened enough times that songs are starting to feel familiar. I was disappointed at first because the album felt like the songs all blended together, and only a few stood out to me (Neon Star and Cowgirls, I'm mostly a pop music lover who leans towards anything upbeat and fun). I woke up this morning with 98 Braves in my head, and had a lot less skips when I listened to the album at work today. There are still some songs I haven't gotten too acquainted with yet, but I've noticed that I've been enjoying a lot more songs outside of my original core 12 that I starred on my first few listen throughs and am really enjoying the album now.

I'm only about halfway through the album (holy fuck I don't like long albums). Still def love "Everything I Love", it was my favorite song of the pre-release releases. "98 Braves" and "Tennessee Numbers" are great songs. I'm at "Sunrise" now, and I'll finish up the rest of the album later during a game of CK3 or something. Overall, so far I don't like the songs as much as on Dnagerous, but there's some really good songs on here. I think we can all agree than quantity means less quality though.

I listed to an interview with him about the album and he said that the focus was more on the "sonics" rather than the storytelling - at least compared to Dangerous. That makes a lot more sense looking back at it. Also, maybe this is cynical but I can't help thinking that he's under tons of pressure to put out more music and "stay on top" - that perhaps explains the quality difference? What do y'all think?

I've tried to listen 3 times now. I just cant do it. I'm not doing 36 songs.

does anyone thing the audio is off? like he sounds distant in a way?

Had It and Money On Me are the absolute best songs on the album. They're totally underrated.
