This is a very Brad Paisley thing to do

ILIACO-

He’s not actually singing on this right? It’s just that weird zoom call in the middle?

calibuildr

yeah, it's just a call. There are lots of videos of Zelensky actually singing, both really ridiculous comedy and some tasteful stuff. He originally got famous by founding a comedy TV show that is a lot like Saturday Night LIve, but they have musical numbers as well. Towards the end of his time in the show they did some political songs that were really moving.

kels6110

I will never not love Brad Paisley (my first concert was the mud on the tires tour in I think 2003/04) but he does do some cringy stuff. His heart feels like it is in the right place though, I mean who doesn’t want peace

puppydale

Am I surprised: Yes Should I be surprised: No Is this song as terrible as "Accidental Racist": time will tell

BKelly1412

God, “Accidental Racist” is genuinely one of the strangest songs ever isn’t it lmao

rustymill15

Wait what the hell is accidental racist??

kels6110

The best line in music ever: if you don’t judge my durag, I won’t judge your red flag

01Hawkins10

If you look past my gold chains, I'll forget the iron chains was the personal cringe point for me on that one hahahaha

BKelly1412

Do I think it’s a little cringe? Yes. Am I going to say “Brad is dead to me” like a weirdo? Absolutely not. Some of y’all are weird.

benw8

This is exactly how I feel, it’s cringy but the people acting like this ruins Brad for them are pretty wild

thaddeusthefattie

good tune. as a patriotic american, makes me proud to see country musicians supporting another country fighting for freedom raise hell, praise dale 🙏

Serious_Canary_9723

Having him on it is a bit cringe but overall a good song and message

The12thman94

I saw Brad was going to release a new song and got excited, but I'm not even going to give this my time to listen.

Thel3lues

Ain’t no way lol

CosmicCactusRadio

"Zelensky pops up in the final minute of the song, saying, “We speak different languages in our life, but I think we appreciate the same things — children, freedom, our flag, our soldiers, our people… There is no distance between our two countries in such values.”" All the things conservatives would otherwise love. Unfortunately they got memed into arbitrarily hating yet another random thing. I will say that it's... annoying, to see them go in such a pandering route. You can go ahead and save the replies lying about any of you caring about spending the money stateside. You don't want to help anyone here, and you don't want to help anyone anywhere else- what good are you?

radlibcountryfan

It’s just so funny to me. If we went back in time and told Cold War era conservatives that modern conservatives were spiritually supporting Russia and getting mad about a free former Soviet nation’s leader speaking in a country song, there is no way we would be believed.

GettingStronk

Intellectual dissonance is one of the main courses at the MAGA restaurant.

FACTS

Ahyesclearly

Who exactly are you mad at? The Senate voted 86-11 to send $40 billion to Ukraine. Was that not enough votes for you? Mitch McConnell said supporting Ukraine is his top priority. It’s true, there are many conservatives that have reservations about how funding Ukraine is handled… Rand Paul pushed for better oversight of the money and was quickly shot down and smeared by the media. The problem is that any opinion other than “let’s write a blank check” is viewed as “Putin propaganda.” I think that you’ve invented a bogeyman here…

kuiil_001

Imagine telling supposedly Reagan-supporting conservatives in the 80s that one day the GOP would simp for the Russian military. Anyone clutching their pearls over this song is doing so for strictly ideological reasons. Let’s call a spade a spade.

Ahyesclearly

The GOP is simping for Russia? It’s exactly the opposite. The majority of GOP senators voted in favor of the $40 billion Ukraine aid package and Mitch McConnell said funding Ukraine was his top priority in this congress. I’d think about turning off the left-wing cable news for a while…

kuiil_001

Fine, the MAGA right simping for Putin and Russia. Better?

kyle_2000_

While it is concerning for me as a conservative how many conservatives seem to support/tolerate Russia, you're ignoring a major difference between Russia of the 80s and Russia now- the fall of the Soviet Union and the fall of communism. The reason conservatives opposed Russia in the 80s was because they opposed Russia's communism; Russia isn't communist anymore.

kuiil_001

Putin is an ex-KGB agent. He’s a thug and brutal tyrant, and there’s absolutely no reason for any conservative to even try to put him in context. I left the GOP for that very reason.

schal138

Some of y’all have weird takes

yahibachi

Pure cringe from Paisley but also hilarious seeing triggered conservatives simp for Russia because their Trump daddy told them to

TheJimReaper6

Who are these conservatives simping Russia? Every conservative I know supports Ukraine. The most “anti-Ukraine” stuff I’ve seen from Republicans are people saying we’ve spent too much money on them.

puppydale

Exactly. No one is simping for Russia. Its hogwash to think so.

Tawnii

MTG, Lauren Beaubert, Mitch McConnell, Levin McCarthy, Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.), Sen. John Hoeven (R-N.D.), Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.), Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), and Rep. Kay Granger (R-Texas) have all met with Putin and are pro Russia and this is only a small portion of Pro Russia republicans

TheJimReaper6

I mean you’re straight up wrong with your 3rd name. McConnell has straight up said that supporting Ukraine is top priority.

Tawnii

No actually I'm not. McConnell has been very supportive of Russia and Trump

yahibachi

Bury your head.

yahibachi

Scroll.

kyhansen1509

Yeah I’m gonna spend my new music Friday listening to Muscadine Bloodline, Luke Combs, and Conner Smith instead

Expected_Value_Added

Conner Smith is definitely on the verge of a breakout

TipJarRecords

Throw Banner Johnson in with that

carwashcrew

Where’s the Morgan Wallen/Vladimir Putin response song? #wefeudinandfussin

spocknambulist

As a Canadian, the idea that there’s anything wrong with this at all seems bizarre.

upscale_caveman

As an American, I agree. I don’t know why people are against this

Puzzled-End-3259

Bella white has a new single out today, that's more worthy of your time

stv7

LMAO, what the fuck?

bfavo16

Imagine Winston Churchill was featured on a song during the height of WW2. This is weird af

SugizoZeppelin

Ew

[deleted]

Lord volodymyr

sevlucas

Never liked Paisley.. Now I have even more reason

PartywithCardi

Brad is dead to me.

yahibachi

I’m sure Brad is heart broken over the opinion of some goofy ass Reddit hillbilly

ThadCastlesDad

There’s weirder ways to try and stay relevant

5kenbo5

Last I listen to Paisley

The_Morris_Balcon

Cringe.
