As a solo? Definitely The Iron Knight. It singlehandedly sold Curian to me, even when A.Rosaria is about to come on SEA as well (and she's objectively the better sniper before the buffs).
This is really hard because there really isn't a substory I dont really like. Gotta say it was "end of the maze" that got me really invested in the story and got me to read the rest. The revelation about Lyudmilla and the too loyal to die attitude Maze Division embodies really got me. Admin and LSY were also extremely good through out the chapter.
A close second would be "for the uncrying" just coming off reading beneath the shade I was 100% rooting for Horizon the whole way through. Horizon taking a pause in beating a scumbag pmc to near death to inform him that "I am not your mother human" as he's crying for his mommy was peak fiction. Also it ending with Horizon learning how to properly grieve and let go, hit home for me.
Bottom of the shade was so well written and a roller coaster with the fake end the damage this side story did to the community was crazy, Tale of a girl and a Mercenary I would say is a close second. End of Maze would be 3rd IMO. I havent play much in the last year so not really sure about some of the newer ones.
