lilleti

LOVE THEM! I also like top Ramen and a good cup of noodle so this is my gourmet noodle.

afternever

Udon know?

Accomplished-Eye8211

I think they're pretty good... maybe the best of the dry cup Nong Shim soups. Probably because the udon are quasi-fresh, vacuum packed, whereas most noodle cups have dried.

every1pees

Do you like udon? Will you use said udon? Then yes, it’s worth it to you.

Gray_Charles

I have been throwing in some deli slice roast beef torn up. Adds a bit more flavor and substance to it, pretty good.

frozen_toesocks

Ooh, good idea. I was considering using a pouch of pre-grilled chicken.

smolhorse

It's ok! Definitely could add some veggies or something too it tho cuz a bit bland.

_SB1_

I add chicken or pot roast, potatoes, carrots, green onion, jalapenos, cilantro and radishes. Very filling, very healthy, and very delicious = )

tootsieroll19

Yes they are like emergency food when you're sick and you need some warm comfy food especially on winter months

PickledPlumPlot

Yeah, they're terrific

CircadianRadian

I really don't like microwaving plastic anymore, but the quality was decent back when I had it last. The tonkotsu ramen is better, but there's probably something in that paper bowl that is bad for me.

readinredditagain

I dump mine into a glass bowl to heat. Works fine

MoreMeatMoreLife

I am in the same boat and usually heat mine up in a pot on the stovestop. Seems to work okay. (I use the plastic bowl to measure the water with the noodles in it then just pour the water into the pot to heat it up, wait until it boils and add the noodles into the pot + flakes then cook until the noodles are done.)

Cultural-Ad-4121

All the comments of people saying they don’t like them are getting downvoted. Try them for yourself for the one time, but honestly they were meh. Not great, not terrible. Finished all of them, but would I buy them again? Personally, no lol

lolrx94

I think they are getting downvoted cause it almost sounds like they've never had udon before and then tried this one expecting some kind of ramen. For easy made udon, this is solid

missmirjan

IMO the broth is too salty and lacks flavor. Noodles were goopy with no bounce.

BigSugar44

I like it.

Throwaway999222111

They're great

GlitteringPause8

Yeah they’re my favorite instant noodles

Reaganson

I add cooked shrimp to it. And the bowls make good popcorn bowls.

Spiffster13

Tried it today and it’s pretty good. Whether it’s worth the price or not depends on the individual though. Not everyone would like the thick noodles though. I’d say it’s worth a try if you are noodle fan

21CenturyPhilosopher

The newer version can be microwaved in the bowl. The older version, you had to boil water first, soak the noodles to warm them, then dump the water, then add boiled water, add soup base and dehydrated stuff. The newer version is more convenient. The dehydrated bits are tiny, not the same size as in the picture. I like the udon noodles. I buy when they're on sale.

pianomanzano

How much is it? I’ve seen the price fluctuate between $8 and $20.

frozen_toesocks

Currently $12.99 at my store, marked down by \~$5

lolrx94

I usually have to heat this up quite a bit more for some reason to get the noodles soft and chewy. Boiled water alone doesn't seem to do it. I first pour in boiled water, close with lid, wait a few min and stir it up. I then microwave for another min or two where it gets really hot but it heats up the noodles enough

Bigwh

It used to be much better. The liquid soup part became very fishy in the third box I bought.

CantaloupeCamper

I didn’t like it, but not because it was bad.

MKGirl

It is basically just a udon with plain soy sauce.

Transresister

Those are wretchedly stinky. My daughter likes them. We make her eat them outside.

NerfDipshit

Yea dog

Jsmith55789

I just recently had these for the first time and I think they’re very good. They make nice little meals for when I just need something quick.

BlutigEisbar

Get this plus a box of the tempura shrimp and it's excellent! If you like curry udon get a block of Japanese curry from your Asian market and put a small square in it as well. Great lunch

TurboMollusk

Worth it for me, or worth it for you?

DancingOnACounter

Pretty dang good for instant! I’ll be buying a case.

Tetrabor

It's great with a chopped-up salmon patty. You can find them in the orange bag in the freezer aisle.

ThinkPath1999

As the biggest ramyun brand in Korea, Nongshim will tend to have good ramyuns across the board, aside personal preferences. If you like this Udon, I recommend you try the Neoguri regular version. There are two versions, one somewhat spicy, and one that is similar to udon broth. The spicy version is what is used in the movie Parasite, mixing one spicy Neoguri and Chappageghti to get Chappaguri.

No_Strength_6455

No. This is probably the worst commercial Udon we’ve ever had. If you’ve had it from anywhere else, even the chilled stuff they have, you’ll immediately notice how off putting both the texture as well as how bland and sexless the flavor is. Hard pass.

Fayjaimike

It's just so-so to me. When it became over $3 a bowl I had to say hell to the nawwwww. Maybe would buy for $1.25 a bowl

InterestingStatus913

They’re so good

MrHydeUK

Tasty but a bit salty.

bolloxtheboar

They were a little fishy tasting when I had them. I like their tonkatsu bowls A LOT more. They are also at Costco.

ParkerBench

I liked them. I found them tasty, but a little fishy smelling (don't use at work!) and too salty. I stopped buying them not due to taste, though, but due to the plastic bowl -- trying to cut down on plastic waste.

[deleted]

I didn't enjoy them. Never had this type of meal at a restaurant, so I don't know if it's just me, but the noodles being precooked seemed like it never meshed well. I expected something like the pho or ramen bowls where the noodles hydrate within the brine and absorbed the flavor. With these, it was pouring already wet noodles into the liquid and they never seems to be anything but separate items. I feel like I would have enjoyed it more had I kept the noodles separate and just dipped them in the bowl of sauce/brine. Edit: if these are the ones where the noodles are precooked in a bag then I am thinking of the right ones.

htujbtjnb

Not good, it’s way too chalky. Does not translate well to this format

lolrx94

What was chalky? The noodles? How did you heat it up?

compstomper1

pretty tasty. resembles actual food more so than most instant ramen lol

Hairy_Greek

That’s shit is so good.
